From their very first day of conception, Agents of Chaos promised the galaxy a new dawn, in which interplanetary governments and territorial grubbing was a thing of the past. Small victories and defeats have paved their way to the now, and they would show the 'verse they've got great balls of fire by attempting to free not one but two of the Confederacy of Independent Systems' systems - Siskeen and Ryloth.

For years, the rest of the galaxy let the Confederacy of Independent Systems grow larger and larger, offering little to no resistance, though whispers in the dark spoke of pushing them away from their borders. With the Confederacy First edicts as well as the inquisition, alarm was raised across the 'verse, and those quiet whispers have now become louder and louder.

Pretending to not be an empire, pretending to be against slavery when they make agreements to let the enslaving Sith Empire be. The 'verse has spoken loud and clear - it was time to begin the Confederacy's end.

We are gathered here today to witness Derek Dib Derek Dib , Viceroy of Siskeen, who for a long time has been displeased with the Confederacy's reign (X, X, X). Having arranged for a meeting with the Agents of Chaos (X), today is the day in which the grand meeting will be held.

In Dib's palace on Olanet, the jewel of the Siskeen system, everything was ready. Confederate viceroyals, journalists, Agents of Chaos, and a few more interested parties had all been invited to witness the negotiations of Siskeen's freedom from Confederate reign.

In the meantime…

31mdLN.png

The Agents of Chaos rarely slumber in peace, and words are also traded both in secret and openly. The grapevine is always burning with whispers, and too many leaders in the galaxy are too busy keeping tabs on each other instead of actually doing anything for their people.

We have always known that not everyone on Ryloth was pleased. Many would claim that the Confederacy has been good to the planet, that the Twi'leks had left their natural ways of living in order to move into the dome-cities that have been built for them. And yet, while it was true that the Twi'leks no longer need to sell themselves or their children as slaves, slavery still comes in different forms. The switch of many Twi'leks into the dome cities has decreased the population in the underground cities greatly, which in turn has made them much more vulnerable to Lylek attacks.

Additionally, the publication of Elav Doneet's book, A History of Ryloth, has sparked further rage among those who did not always dream of moving to the big dome, but had to do it either way because of the changes on the planet.

Agents of Chaos will give the Confederacy of Independent Systems a single chance - Leave Ryloth, tear down your military buildings and places on the planet, and send the Confederates back home, or we will do it for you. On the odds that the Confederacy agrees, there is a party ship waiting among our fleet near Ryloth, ready to drop down on the border of the Nightlands and the Brightlands with booze and music.

You will be starting this invasion on Olanet, at Derek Dib Derek Dib 's palace.

Unlike in most invasions, our goal here is to make sure the Confederacy is pushed back, not with violence, but with words. This is our shot to show that we can genuinely help, that we can support, and that we fit into all sorts of society.

We fully expect that during these conversations, the Confederates and their Minister of Influence will try to lie with sweet words, bait us, pand try to get us to shoot first. Do not let them. And make sure the cameras catch all of it.

3RZJ2d.gif

In case we go party, we go par-tay! Our party ship will be landing on the border between the Nightlands and the Bright Lands, and we will be opening caravans, offering booze, get some stalls with food happening, and everyone's invited! We even have a few performers ready to land!

3RZ2Tm.gif

Many Twi'lek have been unhappy with the changes on Ryloth after the Confederacy's interference with it. You are here because you are fighting alongside the insurgent Twi'leks, who will be targeting one of the domes built by the Confederacy. Some are even whispering about finding Elav Doneeta, the author of the propaganda history book, and murdering him.

Whether you fight above ground or decide to go below to protect the underground cities, make sure you do not harm the civilians!

3RZ0DO.gif

If the Confederacy says that it would not leave Ryloth in peace, this team is going to be having a lot of fun. Your targets will be the Mandragora and the Knights Obsidian locations on the planet. Nerium Nerium and Kyrinov Kyrinov are going to work on Battle Meditation, so all of you who are not Force Dead can enjoy quite the boost when you fight! Work together as you target Confederate military spots, and once again, we cannot stress this enough - make sure you do not harm the civilians!

3RZknq.gif
You know why you're here. You're the motherkrakking fleet. Your purposes here is two fold - you are equipped with refugee ships to take away anyone in case of need, and if the Confederacy shoots first, you are her for the pew pew.

There will be three fleet groups altogether. One in the Ryloth system. A contingent of disarmed pocket carriers in the Siskeen system for refugee evacuation purposes. A third group will be in a support role in a jump space between the two, awaiting instructions from either group for reinforcement duty. The main Agent of Chaos fleet, headed by Dasmi Lindervale Dasmi Lindervale , will be in the Ryloth system with a supporting fleet that will be striking at targets of opportunity.

Madalena had spent most of the ride back into Confederate space with her fellow hunters. As Head of the Wild Hunt, she had recently put motions to change the hierarchical structure of the team into one that was led by a council rather than a single person, and today, many of her newly appointed Aspects might get the chance to prove themselves.

Though one would hardly be able to guess by merely looking at her, Madalena's insides were trembling with excitement and anticipation. She had spent most of her existence, first as a falsified mass of memories and then as a real woman, with the Confederacy. She had quickly risen among the ranks of the Knights Obsidian, becoming part of their group of leaders as well. Within the Confederacy, she had found friendship, kinship, and love.

Her training had been legendary. Her ability to bring back so many of her squad back home alive had been something people often spoke of. In the Confederacy, she had been the great and lucky sister.

And she had abdicated it all. Madalena had collected her meager belongings and just left, leaving the door unlocked behind her.

The months away had changed her. She had never been one for the Confederacy's ideals, but that had never stopped her being great while serving them. Ideals… Ideals were a fluid thing. She would have remained with them for decades more had it not been for her sister. And she would have been content to leave them alone for good, had it not been for Discordia. The true power of Chaos, she was the seedling behind the entire idea, and Madalena loved her.

And now.. Now it was strange, to be back here. To be in Confederate space. Sure, they were not technically in it yet, only hovering just outside of the Ryloth border. But it was more than enough.

Leaving her teammates for a moment, the Sith Sorceress headed for the cockpit, where she could access what she needed.

"Free people of Ryloth," her deep voice purred into the microphone. It would be heard, she knew. Sent directly to the CIS and to any open frequency her tech people could nail down for her, "and Confederates..."

She closed her eyes, smiling to herself.

"For years, you have been living a lie. The Confederacy has spoken of making you free, of bettering your situation. But look at yourselves. You thought one form of slavery so bad that you've simply exchanged it for another, more subtle kind. You have let the Confederates become your lords and masters, moving you from your homes, taking away your choices. Your families, those who have not benefited from the change and still live underground, are in constant danger from the lyleks. Your lives, have changed, and not always for the better.

And now this… This Elav Doneeta, whoever they are, tries to say that you are all happy? That being freed from a specific type of enslavement, it means your lives are free? That you have the same opportunities in life as the Confederates that lord over you?

Confederates… You are not wanted here. Perhaps once upon a time, you were what you claimed to be - the protector of millions. But the galaxy is seeing you for what you are - a tyrannical, power hungry, conquering force. Just another empire, trying to use another name. And though my ideologies have strayed very far away from yours, I still hold a warm place in my heart for what you have given me, when I was known among you as Knight Commander Madalena Antares.

I give you the option to leave peacefully. I know how much you love your parties, how much I had loved them as well when I served with you. This fleet is spearheaded by a party ship, full of booze and entertainment. Leave Ryloth alone, bring down any Knights Obsidian or other military structure you have on it and
leave, and we will come down for a party like you have never seen before, right on the border of the Brightlands and the Nightlands.

Deny us… And we will come.
En force.

Time is expensive. You have eight minutes to decide."

Switching the comms off, Madalena now permitted herself a smile. It was time to return to her teammates. If she knew the Confederacy half as well as she thought, they would not be taking her offer. It was time to use the final minutes, for the final preparations.

PROCLAMATION OF INDEPENDENCE

We, the peoples and races of the combined Siskeen System, have ratified behind the Discourse of Direction and deliberated the course of action for the United Siskeen Coalition under the leadership of our first President for the composed enumeration for true independence.

The subjugation and enslavement of worlds and systems by the Confederacy of Independent Systems are the grounds for repealing Confederate amendments and dissolving the union of the Siskeen System with the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Article II. states: “All worlds acknowledge that membership within the Confederacy is permanent.”

Article IV. Amendment I states: “The elevation of slavery to a capital offense.”

Most planets and systems entering into propriety with the Confederacy do so on an unlevel field of judgement and with disrupted government. The requirement prompting consignment of an entire planet/system into an endless perpetual bond.
Instead of an amalgamation of united systems under an umbrella of unilateral purposes the Confederacy has become a nation of consolidation and uniformity, casting aside the unique identity of each new constituent, usually under the guise of a newly elected official unrelated to the people or planet for Viceroyalty

Slavery comes in many shapes and forms and to allow a planet or system to be subjugated, by those that came before, into a bond without allowing appeal is a form of slavery and indentured servitude.

This is the official Proclamation of Independence offered on behalf of the Siskeen System. We choose freedom from Confederate attachment and to be the Masters of our own destiny unencumbered by the rule of a conglomerate nation.

The "Proclamation of Independence" was riding the invisible spectrum of transmissions across the Galaxy, reaching out far and wide to never be stifled or hidden. The crescendo of this wave for a cause of complete and utter Independence and separation from the presiding government would ripple out to touch the hundreds and thousands of other systems and planets held sway by the Confederacy's might. This movement, however, would not stop with just the southern regions of the Galaxy but would echo far and wide to other planets and systems valiantly searching for a way to remain sovereign in the face of encroaching political giants.

He stood with his back to the massive table while looking through the one way glass of floor to ceiling windows. Another meeting between viceroyalty that seemingly would be as similar to other such meetings from the past. Except this time it was to discuss separation from internal components. And one done civilly, without violence or threats of violence. Today was a new day for the Siskeen System, for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the galaxy at large. A victory here hinged on conviction, on charisma of movement, and the old adage of drawing a line in the sand to become an immovable bastion of purposeful cause.

He caught his reflection and almost smiled. His signature obsidian suit with crimson tie was as familiar as the red hue in his eyes. He knew the importance and heavy weight of gravitas that hung upon this meeting. When it was over the Siskeen System would be changed, one way or another. In response to the danger a very few siskeeni chose to seek shelter offered by the Agents of Chaos. The fleets of the United Siskeen Coalition stayed the course, constantly vigilant. He closed his eyes to breathe slow and deep.

The match had already begun. Agents of Chaos and the Confederacy of Independent Systems manipulated and pressed against one another in preparation of conflict. In the middle rested the Ryloth and Siskeen systems. A cold twitching frowned pulled the edge of his lips for a moment. He would sacrifice Ryloth and her people to save his own. Just a deed of necessity to strengthen his position. Let Ryloth bear the brunt of battle. A damnable deed, yet every advantage was necessary to ensure victory. A new admiral commanded the USC forces, vetted of course, but new to both incoming parties. Behind the scenes subtle maneuvering became a requirement to keep equal footing amidst the two larger governments, and careful tentative action was performed. Signs of goodwill and allegiances were wielded with the finest attention to detail, a masterful shaper seeking to cultivate the perfect work of art. However, only time would toll victory or defeat at the midnight hour.

Turning slowly he watched the gargantuan room slowly fill. At the center was a massive granite oval table, repulsor chairs waiting for occupants. This was it, this was where history would unfold. Success and failure waited in the wings to decree a final verdict upon those gathered. Destiny waited for no man.

He moved to his seat and stood, hands gripping the high back, as he nodded greetings to those filling the room to capacity.

Olanet, Siskeen System
Allies: Agents of Chaos
Enemies: Confederacy of Independent Systems

He waited not inside with the delegation, but without.

His words to the newly ordained President of the United Siskeen Coalition hung in the air as a pretense. No harm shall come to you or your people. You have my word.

The King was not dressed as a warrior might be, but as a man in lavish clothes with a unique taste in accessories. The reality was, to dress openly as an armed attaché might send the wrong message.

Enlil did not need to look intimidating to do the job he intended.

Inside the facility, Derek Dib Derek Dib addressed the Confederacy of Independent Systems, but also, the Agents of Chaos planned to ensure that everything was transparent. This was no affair to pass quietly. This was the liberation of a world.

The word Confederacy was still new to him, but the concept of an Empire was not. Enlil had seen firsthand the destructive and haphazard tendencies of such an entity.

They were not fit to rule.

PARTY ON RYLOTH

Essential Gear: BD-9 | Cigarettes | Lighter
Judd stood on the bridge of the Fallulah staring down at the small spect that was Ryloth. His eyes stung and his headed pounded. Remnants of the drinking done the night before. Great, so he was supposed to fight and possibly die for this hell hole. Sticking a cigarette between his lips and mumbled about the next invasion being on a white sand beach as he lit the smoke. All around him loader droids were preparing for the two possible outcomes of what was to happen next. Whoever thought to try to win over the Confederacy on Ryloth with a party was either a mad genius or completely insane. Was there a difference? Maybe he could find one or two of those nice Twi'lek girls he'd heard so much about to rub away this hangover. The thought of what else they could do for him brought a smile to his face as he remembered the conversation that convinced him to join this effort.
-----------------------------------------------

Blowing out a stream of smoke into the face of Scherezade the mercenary looked on with an expression of humor. "Oh yes it sounds like a brilliant idea. We just have to get by whatever ships or in orbit, land, and convince the Confederacy that we should have a kegger to solve all our problems. I can't see anything going wrong." He let that statement hang in the air for a second with a look of incredulity. "I'd rather castrate myself with a lightsaber."
The more he'd spent time with these people the crazier he had realized they were. They would be the death of him. Somehow whatever method of death the Hapan's had devised for him was far more preferable then this. The others that had come to convince him all began to turn away from Judd wishing him well on the next prison he would land in. It was the words the DeWinter woman mouth that caught his attention though. They have Twi'lek girls.
Judd feigned indifference as he rolled his eyes and prayed to what ever gods existed for what he said next. Damn how did this woman know what buttons to push. "Ok, I lied. Sure I'll help."
-----------------------------------------------

And that had been the end of the discussion. A few exotic women to sooth his own misgivings of this plan. Still it was a hell of a plan. "Hey Niner, you all ready buddy?" The BD droid came walking up to him, various small glow lights attached to his chasis and singing out a gungan ditty in his melodic beeps and whistles. Judd looked down at this display with an expression of annoyance. "Who did you let do that to you BD-9? You look like a Hutt's droid." The droid cowarded back a little as Judd knelt down and started pulling the panels off of him. He'd hoped for the party option, but in his line of work you always had to prepare like its a fight, and bright glow panels were a dead give away in a battle.
"Now...do you have your payload ready?" In response Niner began to hop around and beep in excitement as music began to pipe over his speakers playing the aftformentioned payload.

She was already seated when it started, refusing to shy away from taking a place close to the center of the happenings. To get there, had felt like a forever. Alwine's body was still not fully healed from her ordeal as a Sith Empire prisoner of war, and even walking was a challenge. Her body had become stiffer, more painful. Sometimes it hurt just to breathe, and her bones had first shifted against her very will, causing them to break apart time and time again until she had discovered the GBG-7416 which finally brought some reprieve to her long and painful nights.

But the five foot human-looking blonde refused to let this stop her. She had not been present for the original negotiations between viceroy Dib and Scherezade. She'd been utterly petrified to learn that someone had thought sending Scherezade to do the work of a Speaker was a good idea by any stretch. And yet… Somehow, it had not been completely screwed up. That had made the petite Lupine smile.

Her own stand regarding the issue at hand had been well known long before she had ever chosen to leave the Confederacy with her friends. She remembered the disapproving looks when all she had posed, over a year ago, the question of why the Confederacy would be going to Eshan to wage a war, when people within their borders were already suffering and in need of help.

Alwine smiled. In many ways, she would have supported the Confederacy First edicts if she had still been part of the Confederacy herself. To put your own people before those who were not your own, was the proper and sensible thing to do in most scenarios. And yet she could not phantom how the Confederacy had let it get so out of control. Of course, she knew that the entire vacuum sealed closed borders thing was nothing more than idle gossip and a severe exaggeration, but… How had the Confederacy not taken control of the situation before it snowballed into the mess it had since become? To that, she had no answers.

What she did have, was a long list of grievances against the CIS, and the changing opinions of the galaxy regarding them, which she intended to squeeze to the very last drop if she could.

Reading Derek Dib Derek Dib 's file, she had approved of the man and his methods. To be able to free a planet by words alone… The mere thought excited her. Her position as Head of Speakers would soon be coming to an end exactly because of her preference to talk and not fight, but until she herself selected a proper heir to come after her, she would still fulfil her job, by hook or by crook, no matter how broken her body still felt.

In her chair, she sat with her back straight and her chin perfectly parallel to the floor, taking up the space of someone who was much bigger than an injured five foot woman, and she smiled approvingly as she in response to Derek Dib Derek Dib 's words, her eyes following him until he leaned against the chair.

From him, her gaze moved to Enlil Enlil . She had heard of this king, this man who had come to visit them, that had spoken both with and for them. To her, he was a wild card. While his desires were plainly easy to understand, it was his methods that Alwine knew nothing about, and had been unable to uncover anything about. But she knew she would watch him… And while giving him the space to be great at what he wanted, she would also keep an eye to make sure that response would be swift in case of need.

Months had Gabriel waited for a moment like this. Cultivating resources and making concessions to find himself at this table. He cared very little for politics and this game of thrones. Yet, these Agents of Chaos had something he lacked. An army ready to go anywhere for the right motivation. If he had to play peacemaker to gain them for his own desires Gabriel was more then adaptable to it. It was the Confederacy after all. They were as spineless as their egos were big. It would be a challenge, but one where manipulation and double speak was plentiful.

He'd read the so call Proclamation of Independence before arriving with the AoC delagation. It was a joke. Though he didn't share his Sith bretherns doctrine of Rule of Might, he also didn't believe that these people had anymore right to self governance then the simple worker ant. They were like sheep. Always falling into line with the person with the biggest gun and never with the will to take their own destiny. Sure their words were filled with pretty language and resolve. But even if they succeeded today they would break and give in to the next tyrant with a fancy robe. All this day was good for was to show his allies the benefits of his wisdom. To put them into a position to help him when the time came.

Looking to Alwine and the others he wondered for a brief moment if this was their first time on such a battle field. This was their show though. For now he would just sit back and observe. Maybe he should help a little. Gabriel let out an aura of strength around the room. Giving the AoC more of a stance of superiority then the Confederates were used to.

Dimitri was in a precarious position with the Agent’s of Chaos. He was the Fleet Admiral, and there were plenty of those below him with authority to permit him to stay behind on the scintilla, rather than lead this whole procession from the bridge of the Unicorn. But the Fleet Admiral was not going to remain safe and sound after asking about volunteers for this one way mission for the majority of those gathered.

Which was how the man found himself staring at the vid comm system that linked the whole fleet together in a strange rotunda style gathering of screens on the main bridge as he took a deep breath. Whenever he led from the front, addressing those that were putting their faith in him was the least he could do.

“We know why we are here. You all were asked to be here. Given the option to stay behind on the scintilla in relative safety rather than throw your lot in with the rest of us.” He began, the fleet hanging in formation just outside of their last hyperspace jump point. “This will be a one way trip for some of us. For a lot of us. But we agreed to be here.”

He licked his lips before chewing nervously for a moment. Words usually came easily for the man save for this moment, the circumstances warranted even this bold and charismatic man to feel a tinge of fear at the possible end he faced. His mouth opened as if words would flow, another pause punctuating the silence across the whole system of comm’s interconnected across the ships.

Every holovid screen showed his face across it at different angles. The hard swallow of a lump in his throat had him clearing it with a cough as he continued finally.

“I will not lie to you all. We are facing a force that knows war. That knows what it means to face down another person without flinching as they pull the trigger.” His eyes focused on the camera ahead of him. “They are practiced in the art, and it is an art. We cannot match them on equal footing, so we must surprise them. Must undermine the faith they have in fighting a fair fight.”

A small, wicked smirk appeared as he spoke. The fear that had invaded his features were slowly chased away as his words continued.

“We are creative, unknown, unpredictable. We don’t know the art of war, and we don’t care to. We do what works, and fly by the seat of our pants where others have strategy. We are the Agents of Chaos and we will show that today!” Dimitri began to gain volume as he spoke. “We follow the pattern we did against the Cathar fleet to start with, and from there?”

He visibly scanned the camera’s feeding his image to the other ships as he looked beyond them to the screens displaying the reactions. The wicked smirk grew into a full smile.

“We sucker punch those fethin fools! It is not about winning today! It is about sending a message-” He raised a tight fist and gritted his teeth before picking up volume in his words.

”EVEN IF WE ARE SCREAMING INTO THE VOID! THE WHOLE VERSE WILL HEAR US TODAY!” Dimitri began to yell as he watched the other crews join in the excited clangor he was building. “URAH AGENTS OF CHAOS! URAH!” The whole lot among the Agent’s of Chaos fleet roared with enthusiasm. He hoped that enthusiasm lasted through the coming battle as the three groups broke apart and moved to their positions.

The First Fleet moved out, jumping to their coordinates as pilots began to fill the racks of waiting starfighters. Some prayed, some did little more than psyche themselves up for what awaited them outside the hangar. Some were on the strangest of all routes of thinking, simply waiting, watching for the green light on their lane to flicker into life.

Dimitri stood on the bridge of the Endurance Class Fleet Carrier, taking deep breaths now that the camera’s were off. It had taken quite a bit out of him to put on such a brave face knowing the staggering cost this would likely come with. He rubbed his face, a shuddering breath as he looked over the screen once more.

“XO Rimes, status?” Dimitri called the woman before him. A chiss woman, small and lithe with a visible scowl about her constantly, even when a joke was told.

“Green across the board. All ships accounted for at this time, Admiral.” She snarked back. “We’ve only just left, and Fleet Mirage** is in the wings on standby for Fleet Chandelier*, or Fleet Helicopter Mom*** to call for assistance.”

Dimitri fidgeted with his hands, twining his fingers together and rubbing his thumb over the side of his index finger. Rimes stared at him, blinking a few times as only a Chiss could do to make one uncomfortable. Maybe it was the red eyes, or just having known each other for a few years now, and had formed a working relationship. Either that or Dimitri was just too much of an open book for the Chiss woman.

“When we drop out of hyperspace, make sure no one jumps the gun. All pilots, gunners, at the ready, but no one fires or I will come find you myself and return what you shot. The Spectre’s will turn ninety degrees starboard on drop, and hold there until given further orders.” Dimitri hissed, orders growling quickly across the screens to the fleet in formation as they dropped.

A comm link opened on a ship to the CIS system below, and Dimitri let it be. Knowing full well a voice had given the warning as he blew out a breath he had been holding for gods knew how long. He spread his feet shoulder width apart and placed one hand in another, parade rest as the minutes began to count down.

His eyes searched the scanners, waiting for the support fleet of another to pop in. The singular wraith vessel floated by the party ship ahead of them, engineers in the last of their finishing touches as a few of them stepped across the docking latch. Pilots on the board the stripped down vessel waited to see what happened ahead of them.

Sufferage.png

In days gone by, the planet Ryloth and it’s Twi’lek people had little reason to celebrate. Living under the earth in constant darkness, afraid to step out into their own world to witness the light of day or marvel in the mystery of the moon, but that was then. Now, instead of a barren world with nothing but dangerous jungle and arid desert, the planet was home to several bio-domes. Erected by the Confederacy after their liberation of the people from the clutches of villany and slavery, and as an optional alternative to their current homes under the crust of Ryloth, the bio-domes were designed to allow the Twi’leks to live on the otherwise uninhabitable brightlands. These were a place to give them the ability to grow their own crops, live without fear of being attacked by local predators, and to construct cities and buildings instead of carving caves.

In the central dome that housed the capitol, a twilight sun had already begun to set. Pastel shades of orange and pink flickered across the shimmering panels projecting the artificial skies down to the masses. The automatic temperature regulator blasted the heat of a warm summer’s eve and the relief of a cool breeze throughout the entire dome. Ordinary though it might have appeared on the outside, and despite its turbulent history preventing it before, the planet and people of Ryloth were celebrating.

The streets of the dome were packed to the brim with Twi’leks of all descriptions, from every clan on every corner of Ryloth. Mixed among the natives of Ryloth were visitors from far and wide, eager to join the celebrations. The teeming capitol was filled with traditional merchants peddling their wares, fragrant food stalls and enticing games. The native witches of Ryloth, known to all as the Mandragora, as well as the other chapters of the Knights Obsidian, had even consented to providing displaying feats of mystery and magic to any and all excitable children passing by. Even the Confederate Defense Force agreed to setting up displays, letting the young play on the vehicles, and staffing information booths for any twi'lek filled with a fiery spirit after the day’s celebrations.

The Twi’leks did not do Founder’s Day by halves, and the people gathered to pay their respects to their struggle and celebrate the final liberation of their people and their home.

At the heart of it all was a joint military parade featuring the newly trained Ryloth Militia alongside the CDF as they marched down the main thoroughfare leading to a courtyard in front of the home and main offices of the Viceroy and the leaders of the clans of Ryloth. Just before the mansion a small stage had been erected where several wizened twi’leks sat gathered.

An aged female twi’lek with soft wrinkles worn into her speckled-green skin took to the stand and glanced at the crowd, with a gaze that could only be compared to the gentle embers of a warm fire on a cold winter’s eve. Those near enough to hear her rise were immediately silenced, and those further back quickly took leave from their fellows. The twi’lek cleared her voice once, before presenting the gathering with a dazzling smile. “Brothers, sisters, friends and guests from across the Galaxy…” Despite her age, her sagacious voice carried far enough to reach the furthest gatherings at the very back of the courtyard. “It is my great honour to welcome you to our founding day celebrations on behalf of the clans of Ryloth.”

A sudden uproar sounded from the crowd. One of unadulterated joy. The woman, though the smile on her face had widened at their reaction, rose both hands into the air to still the crowd once more. “Today is a day for many things. Today is a day to remember. To remember what came before, to remember the tragedies we suffered and to remember those we have lost. It is a day to remind ourselves of the struggles we faced.” She paused briefly, to honour and to respect the smattering of twi’leks that had lowered their heads in remembrance. “But it is also a day to remember how we overcame. How we, Ryloth and its people, alongside the Confederacy of Independent Systems, broke our chains and earned our liberation. Once again, the clans of Ryloth, especially those who have travelled far to celebrate with us, thank you for joining us on this momentous Founder's Day. Please enjoy the festival!”

As the speech came to a close, the crowds became lively once more. The sound of their celebration was but a dull noise in the main conference room where Darth Metus Darth Metus was gathered with the elders of all the Twi’lek clans to discuss the implications of the recent policy which had become commonly known among the galaxy as CIS First. Naturally there were some apprehensions about how the sudden shift would impact the people of Ryloth. Those concerns, as well as Ryloth’s role in interplanetary trade, would be addressed in what the elders called a Clansmoot.

Recent events, such as the attack on the Viceroyalty Chamber on Geonosis and the surprise attack following the annexation of Atrisia, which had led to the adoption of the Confederacy First doctrine also created the need for heightened security during the Clansmoot and Founder’s Day March. Tension was also high because word had reached the Vicelord through an
anonymous message sent to Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner that there was an imminent threat of attack on Ryloth. These concerns brought with the celebration a measure of increased security. The Dread Guard personally oversaw the Clansmoot, while other forces loyal to the Confederacy, or her credits, were deployed throughout the festival and Ryloth’s orbit. For those who knew of it, the threat cast a dark shadow over the celebration, one they did their best to keep from those that did not need to know. After all, today might not be the day.

While Ryloth celebrated, Siskeen sought secession. A formal invitation from Viceroy Derek Dib Derek Dib had been sent to the office of the Vicelord to begin negotiating the terms of the planet’s attrition. Such a request did not come as surprise considering how vocal an opponent their Viceroy had been in regards to the Vicelord’s policies. His dissatisfaction was well known to any who knew him, as was his role in the formation of the Confederacy in the first place. This matter would be left in the capable hands of Exarch John Locke John Locke and Minister of Influence Faye Malvern Faye Malvern . A small delegation of Viceroys would accompany them along with the Knight Commander Kyyrk Kyyrk , and his Knights Obsidian for security purposes. Would Siskeen break away today, or would their issues be answered in a satisfactory way?

Uncertainty filled the atmosphere as a voice called out to the people of Ryloth, and the Confederates gathered to celebrate. Several of the crowd looked up, while others listened on as what seemed to be a sermon from a misguided missionary was blasted across the airwaves. When the soliloquy was finished, and the ultimatum given, the crowds went back to their celebration. A unpleasant sensation slowly swept through the crowds. For most it was more than a little startling, and for some unfamiliar. It brought out a sense of confusion, but more than anything it stirred what could be most adequately described in a four letter word...

FEAR.

CIS First not only had implications throughout the galaxy in terms of relations, but it left questions for the planets within the Confederacy’s borders as well.. Some of the first planets to feel these implications were the founding planets, including the beautiful world of Ryloth. As such a Clansmoot was called to convene at Viceroy’s to address the questions of the clan leaders, and discuss new trade policies as well. There would be those among the Viceroyalty interested in the results of the Clansmoot, as well as the rare opportunity to indulge in the hospitality of Ryloth’s Viceroy. Join with your Viceroy or accompany the infamous Dread Guard tasked with the protection of the Clansmoot itself. There are sure to be plenty of good snacks to go around.

For a man who was a veritable stranger to parties and celebrations, Holt had to admit that the atmosphere on Ryloth was infectious. Music echoed through the massive bio-domes as native Twi'eks and other citizens of the Confederacy mingled, taking part in confectionary stands, simple fair booths, and the numerous displays and presentations of the latest Confederacy technology and advancements. Children squealed in delight as they peeled through the crowd, ducking around and in between legs of the adults, playing with each other at games of fantasy and childish delight. Holt kept to himself as he made his way through the fair, being as inconspicuous as ever. The Director of Confederacy Intelligence was not someone who was interested in the antics of children, although he reasoned that they were a preferrable atmosphere to some wartorn, suffering planet.

The Founder's March was a celebration of everything Ryloth had built since they had joined the Confederacy -- their bio-domes, allowing the Twi'lek's to finally emerge from their subterranean refuges to live once more on the surface. Trade and prosperity, the likes of which had brought much of the planet's population out of poverty. And most importantly, the safety provided by the Confederacy from the slavers and crime lords who for centuries had taken advantage of the Twi'lek people. Ryloth was truly free, for perhaps the first time ever in its history, and the smiling faces of its people; cheers and flag-waving as Confederacy soldiers and Twi'lek militiamen marched past; the bright eyes of children who could not remember a past of pain and affliction. If one wanted to prove Ryloth's freedom and prosperity, all that one had to do was simply look in the faces of its people.

If Holt was a different man, perhaps he would've engaged in the celebrations and partying of the Founder's March. But unlike the people of Ryloth, the light of life had long left the man's eyes; he did not see the galaxy in bright terms as most people did. Perhaps his cynicism was for the best -- it had been what had made him such a good operative, and what made him an effective Director now. He only expected the worse out of people, and his expectations had been vindicated many times over. He didn't even need to look out of his own organization to find betrayal -- when CICOM had still been the Ministry of Secrets, their founding Minister had defected to found a group of terrorists intent on nothing but spreading anarchy throughout the galaxy. Their second Minister had been absentee at best, and Holt had been the only person of leadership around when the Ministry had been reformed into Intelligence Command.

And then the words came, interrupting his musings. Someone or something had gained access to the Bio-Domes communications, and they had now delivered an ultimatum during Ryloth's day of celebration. Surrender your forces, or die. Whatever the Confederacy's response may be, Holt knew that the responsibility for the security of the people here fell squarely on his shoulders. And no matter how much cynicism the man felt, he would not let any Confedeacy citizen be captured or killed. But Holt would not jump to the taunt and act rashly, although he wasn't sure if other Confederates would do the same.

Ultimately, the only person he could trust, Holt had learned, was himself. And he doubted that any sort of celebration would change that fact.

Madalena Antares was always one for speeches.

In stark contrast, beyond feral screaming, chants for blood in the name of Discordia, and invocations of the Dark Lady’s name, Hanna was somewhat detached in battle, especially in the moments before. While Madalena delivered her speech, Hanna was in a hidden corner of the room saying her final rites before battle. Before leaving Scintilla, she had all of her weapons and armor blessed and anointed by a priest, including her own body. The best weapons in the world would be entirely useless if her body was unable to handle them proficiently, and she wanted to ensure that Discordia was with her in order to make that certain. Nevertheless, Hanna anointed herself one last time before she finished. Then, after securing the small bottle of oil to her belt, Hanna took a deep breath and returned to the center of the room.

Having just finished her speech, Madalena looked to her with a smile, which Hanna returned in kind. Hanna knew that whatever message Madalena had delivered, it would almost certainly come with an offer of peace and celebration in exchange for the enemy laying down the arms or leaving the territory that they so-jealously held onto. Although she was only a months-old clone, Hanna was not under any delusions that they would accept the offer. The Agents of Chaos would have to pay a heavy price in order to free Ryloth. Nevertheless, Hanna smiled in spite of that, because she knew that their cause was divinely-sponsored, whereas the CIS were doomed to fall, like every other once-mighty empire in the annals of galactic history. It would not happen in 860 ABY, or perhaps even within the next 10 years. However, fate and Discordia’s wrath would eventually see to its end, as it had done so many times before.

“They will not leave,” Hanna spoke softly but elegantly, looking to Madalena with orchid-hued eyes. “But regardless, we should still hope that they do.” She continued, taking a deep breath as she looked out of the glasteel viewport at the distant world, thinking of all the people on the surface who were yearning to be free from the sprawling, seemingly invincible empire that was strangling their planet.

“For their sake, and...maybe our own, as well.”

Beric Layne was not a stranger to a celebration, although they occurred far less and on a much smaller scale on his home planet of Vandor. There, as Lord of Frosthall, he had often been the presiding person there, overseeing the festivities at Frosthall or Fort Ypso. But at Vandor, a world with a population that barely even touched the millions, and every harvest fair had been a small celebration. This Founder's March, on the other hand, was loud, boisterous, and celebratory. The people of Ryloth were celebrating their freedom, and as Beric reasoned, they had no reason to hold back their glee.

Beric and his apprentice, Millu Lee, the girl that he had recused from her snowy ship crash on Vandor, toured the fair as the sights and smells assaulted their senses. Wafts of delicious fried bread and barbecued Rycrit meat-on-a-stick floated through the crowd as vendors hawked their wares and goods. Brightly-colored streamers and banners hung throughout the city presented a stark but pleasant contrast to the golden glow cast by Ryloth's setting sun and lamps and lightbugs had begun to float about as day receded into the night. The laughs of children rose to greet his ears, and he turned to find a group of Twi'lek younglings -- there had to be no more than five in total, although Beric could only see their twin-tailed heads poking out from their hiding spot behind a fried dough booth. They were staring at Beric's appearance, which he guessed -- with his bulky fur cloak, unshaven beard, and long hair -- seemed alien to them.

Beric had no problem with children -- in fact, he was always delighted by the antics of younglings back on Vandor. Their play reminded him of his own youthful days, carefree and happy, and he had no qualms in feeding their fantasies. Beckoning them closer with motion and smile, he waited for them to gather around before he outstretched his hand, focusing on his connection to the force as he did so. Moisture in the air around them began to condense and freeze as the children watched, their eyes wide open and their mouths open even wider, until Beric had a snowball sitting on his palm. Smiling, he gifted the snowball to them and watched as they ran off to play with their newfound toy, and turned to his apprentice. "The Force is not just a weapon, you know," he said with a wink before continuing on.

Annasari fluttered into the room, light on her feet, and a worried expression across her face. She had done her best in the last few days to hide it, but the anxiety was gnawing at her since their meeting with the viceroy of Siskeen. Fighting? She was used to that; it was a well-known territory that she would never shy away from. But peace talks and negotiations? She was fearful she would make a fool of herself, or worse, take a misstep that would lead down the path of violence. A slight sense of nausea washed over her, but she swallowed, attempting to push the nagging thoughts and spinning feelings away.

After entering, her gaze pushed across the room. She saw the news people with their cameras beginning to set up. Oh joy, she thought, if we mess this up, all the galaxy will get to see. She grimaced slightly, but it faded as she remembered the publicity should keep people on their best behavior. Her eyes continued their sweep, locking onto Derek looking rather dapper in his suit of choice. Annasari wondered if he would be as tactful today as he was when they had met before. She gave a slight nod his way in acknowledgment before continuing surveying the area. Looking further, she glimpsed a woman who she thought to be Alwine- Annasari hadn't formally met the leader of the speakers, only seen her in passing and heard of her presence, but now was as good as time as any. Besides, perhaps there was much to learn from the other woman if she wanted to go any further into the world of politics.

Her stride resumed and she found a seat next to the woman. She looked over , giving her a slight smile, before letting her expression fade back into a hardened facade. She wanted no one to take that smile of hers for granted- the threat of war had hung heavy over her, a dark cloud following her around, never ceasing. She had entered the building truly hoping for a peaceful outcome but came prepared to fight, holding the ideal of the freedom of the people from tyranny above all else.

The transport, nondescript and easily forgettable, zoomed down with a rumble into the atmosphere of Ryloth. Though this was no mere transport, no, it held a darker cargo than mere foodstuffs and nick-knacks to keep the locals entertained. It held...retribution. Within it's modified interior sat Lirka, her guards, and some 30 odd legionnaires all densely packed together. Nothing about this mission was official, in the proper sense. But Imperial Justice must not confine itself to borders, to allow itself to be corralled by petty politics while dissidents roamed the Galaxy free. The fires of hatred burned bright in Lirka's soul, she held no love for the Confederacy she had abandoned, and she utterly despised her opponents: one of many who had tried to pry Moridinae from Imperial hands, and ones that would gladly rise up in some feeble attempt to stop her when the Crown of Thustra finally rested on her head.

Finally breaking into atmosphere, one of the black armored soldiers piloting the vessel turned his head ever so slightly to face his monstrous overlord.

"Engaging jammers."

And with that, the vessel went invisible, an empty blot on sensor devices. Lirka had no interest in alternating the Confederates to her arrival, not yet, not until those pathetic dissidents played their hands. And in truth, it had been much more...loud. Than she had expected, but without the sounds of war. She knew it was merely time to bid her hand. Finally raising it's long wings with a groan, the ship landed with a thud and splash of dust onto one of the many cliffs that dotted Ryloths surface. With it's door landing with a hiss of depressurization, heavy footfalls stomped against the metal as the monster that was Lirka returned to Ryloth after so long. Flanked by all of the Guardians that had sworn their lives to eternal service to the Queen, the Black Armored Legionnaires: her chosen, the most ruthless of Moridinae's defenders moved out much more rapidly than the Moff's slow and heavy stride. Blasters primed and ready, a handful of snipers and heavier weapons as well. She could not ask for better warriors.

She breathed in, letting the fresh air fill her senses. Exhilarating, such a distant sensation: memories of a life lost to the brutal war machine of the Confederacy. She turned to one of her Legionnaires, a brutal woman by the name of Yazmith who laxly carried a massive Heavy Blaster: she had slaughtered an entire building of Barbarians during the Purge, and Lirka had taken great interest ever since. She spoke, her voice heavily distorted once more by her new and baroque helmet.

"Do you smell that, Legionnaire? This planet reeks with the musk of cowards, and the stench of rebels."

Ever the soldier, Yazmith merely responded with a nod and a "yes ma'am". Mortals. Such an amusing sort, when they didn't annoy the Moff into a blood frenzy. Finally, as she stepped out from under the shadow of their impromptu transport the awful magnificence of Lirka was shown. Great carved horns curled to the sky, a mighty plume the crimson color of blood flew in the wind. Her armor glistening with the Beskar plundered from a people dead and scattered, glistening flashes of swirling gold detailing that covered her figure, and the occasional showing of the runes she had always covered her Power-Suit in. Throwing out a mighty clawed hand, Lirka surveyed the vast landscape around her. And allowed herself a grin. Not quite the war she had been wanting.

"Fan out! Find me anything of value!"

Crossing her arms, Lirka stared out into the horizon: trying to draw upon hazy memories, for reasons she did not know why. The Lirka that had served as the Confederacy's "beloved attack dog" was dead, slaughtered on Zomnira, and crushed by the treachery on Moridinae. But still, she watched: trying to catch that brief taste of distant and mist-like nostalgia. She began to grab onto something, before an interruption came from one of her Legionnaires.

"Ma'am, increased activity in nearest Dome-City. Initial auditory scans indicated some sort of festively within. What do you bid?"

Lirka paused for a moment, turning to face the soldier: she towered over him, in truth she towered over them all. A hulking monstrosity forged on distant Kamino, in truth, the idea of merely sacking the place had felt grossly tantalizing. But duty called.

"I want Snipers watching the entrance road, and keep scans going as much as you can muster. When the fighting begins, I want to be the first to know."

Lirka stood, waiting. For that was all they could do, for now. Though the final cherry on top of her little inspiration came in a handful of crates they lugged out from their transport. Jump-packs, to surprise the enemy when the true battle began. Lirka had always been so fond of her rapid insertions...

Peace.
It was a small word, such a fragile concept. The galaxy was grim and dark, full of war and pain. John had contributed in no small part to the state of the galaxy, to the endless war that seemed to seep out of every pore of the galaxy. There was a constant wave of Chaos, of darkness, reaching out for the rest of the galaxy. Dark claws seeking to grasp and tear, to pull the galaxy into never-ending turmoil and darkness.
It was in the face of this darkness that the first communities had formed way back at the start of history. A small favour here, a little help there, being all across the galaxy told the same story, of small groups huddled around a fire staring out at the darkness that surrounded them. The darkness that hid all manner of monsters and creatures that go bump in the night. The stuff nightmares were made of.
Strength in unity.
From those small groups huddled around the fireplace the communities expanded into villages, towns and cities, nations and states. Today those fireside gatherings peering out into the dark had evolved into vast nations stretching out across hundred of planets, millions of lightyears. A small gathering had through the vagrancies of history evolved into the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Into a vast nation that spanned the stars. That supported one another against all the weight that the galaxy might throw at them. Against the forces that might see them crushed individually, might see darkness sweep over the Confederacy and the worlds it safeguarded.
That was the question that brought them all here. The question of community.
No community could really prosper unless all members were willing participants, were willing adherents to the vision that bound them. The vision of security and prosperity that bound the Southern Systems together.
It was a vision that they could have enforced by the power of their military, by the iron hand, or by the velvet glove and silken tongues of their negotiators. There were a wealth of tools at the hands of the Confederacy that could be turned to maintaining the status of the Southern Systems, of maintaining Siskeen’s place within that community.
Instead of his armies, instead of the negotiators at his beck and call the Vicelord had sent his newest Exarch. One of the few people in the Confederacy with the power to negotiate and bind the Confederacy to his word. He had sent a party of the Viceroyalty to meet with their fellow. Not to intimidate, not to force his hand but to listen, honestly listen to his grievances and address them.
Strength in unity.
If a Viceroy’s fears for his nation had been the only factor here then the dark-haired man might not be so concerned. Only there were elements of the population that not only sought to address their fears but actually sought to leave the Confederacy.
It was a question John couldn’t help but ponder on the trip to the meeting, their speeder whisking them through the prosperous city. The question of freedom and community. How much did one owe their community? He’d always been nervous about committing to a cause, to accept it wholeheartedly. It’s what had ultimately driven him away from the arms of the Order of Silver Jedi, but…over time something had changed.
In the Confederacy, he’d found a nation that genuinely cared for its citizens, that wanted only the best for them. Slowly the man had found himself willing to give more and more to the Confederacy, to defending the citizens of the Southern Systems. He’d stood with their fleets in the face of near-certain death, as energy, missiles and plasma bore down on them from the combined Mandalorian fleets and he hadn’t flinched. He’s stood with the Confederacy on Atrisia and countless other battlefields across the Southern Systems.
Somehow this place had become home, this place had accepted him, despite his flaws and his inadequacies. He’d made that choice, to accept it and to embrace the Southern Systems. Yet, he could understand the fear, the uncertainty more than most. That voice that asked you were doing the right thing, that voice that whispered to you in the dark of the night, in the moments of quiet.
It was the voice he hoped he never lost, the voice of honesty.
It was the voice that had haunted his every step since Taanab, forcing him to second guess his every action, his every thought. On that planet, in the inferno of combat John had seen a darker side of himself that he hadn’t known existed. Claws of icy anger and hate that had sunk deep into his soul. A fit of all-encompassing anger and rage that had threatened to consume him, that for a moment had made of itself his entire being, his entire purpose.
Those claws had been his constant companion ever since, forcing him to constantly ask himself if his actions were prompted by their influence or not. Yet today he didn’t feel them, couldn’t feel their purchase on his soul. Today, as the doors swung open, as he adjusted the cuff of his ever-present suit, he could smile honestly as he led the party into the vast room that had been prepared. Today wasn’t about anger or hate, today was simply about doing what was best for a planet and it’s people.
That was something they could all be proud of, no matter which side of the debate they were on. Too often the citizens of a planet were pulled this way and that by galactic winds, by the whims of people who had never spared them a second thought. But not today. Today John and the Confederacy would make sure the voices of the planet were heard, that whatever was decided was in all of their best interests.
Today he could sleep peacefully at night.

The sun was already beginning to set across the artificial skies, but this was the time when the dome came to life. Effie had been here since sunrise, helping the Twi'leks and the other Mandragora set up the festivities. They were designed to spark joy when the sun had slipped behind the hologram clouds, and the time was growing nearer. The Mandragora had dispersed themselves onto the streets to entertain the passers by, and by the time the sun had turned the skies orange and pink, they were already gathering quite the crowd.

Effie stood with her sisters, hands waving wildly through the air to produce bright sparks and beautiful patterns that faded into the air as quickly as they came. The children gathered around here were screaming with delight each time a new colour burst forth into the warm summer air. Just as she raised her hands to bring a red and green spark clashing together in a rainbow of colours, Effie stopped dead.

She could smell something on the wind...

Quickly distracting the gathering of children infront of her with a bright white spark of magic that flickered and flittered through out the crowds. "Catch it!" She cried to them, in a thick foreign accent. "If you do, you get to make a wish." The fear and surprise on the children's faces, caused by the booming voice coming from the skies, seemed to melt in an instant. They screeched and giggled as they all scrambled to chase after the flash of white light as it zipped and wound its way through the festival' goers legs. Effie grinned to herself, flashing off sharp bright teeth. If nothing else, it would keep their minds of the potential imminent danger, but at least now she had the freedom to chase after that scent. '"I'll be back!" She spoke to the witches that had gathered with her as her feet carried her willfully down the street.

She knew the sensible course of action would have been to turn tail, to remain with the Mandragora and to find and warn the Nightmother. She knew it. But as she lifted her head into the air and twitched her nostrils to draw in the strange but familiar scent once more, she knew she wouldn't.

But the c all of her sisterhood wouldn't allow it... She couldn't abandon them, not after all they had done for her, and not after catching the wiff of what maybe might have been another lupine. She drew to a full stop on the cobblestone street, standing parallel to the buildings either side of her. Her head danced back and forth, between the street she knew would lead her to her family, and the street that would lead her to her kind. With a long, drawn out, frusrated sigh, Effie dragged her frame away from the scent and turned to face the direction her sisters were in.

It wasn't just one lupine, she was fooling herself. The scent was so strong it surrounded her, and made the wolf howl against her chest. But she simply couldn't, and wouldn't, abandon her sisters. Forcing herself one foot after the other, Effie tore back down the street toward her waiting sisters. Shamira and Alluria would likely have questions as to her sudden disappearance, which in a way, made Effie grateful that there were currently more pressing matters to attend to.

Namely the voice coming through the holographic sky. The one that threatened planet wide destruction unless free people living on a free planet were freed.

Holly was brimming with excitement. She had been given an invitation to the event by the Agents of Chaos, a rather new group to the galaxy whom she had not had the pleasure of doing a story on before. This was certainly one way for introductions to take place! She flashed her press badge at the door and was allowed inside the large room.

"Hello I am Holly Starstorm for HNN coming to you live from the negotiations room on Siskeen. The Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Agents of Chaos are meeting to discuss terms together. HNN will continue to bring the galaxy live reports in an exclusive. Stay tuned for more!"

The cameraman gave her the signal and the live stream stopped. Holly was on her own for a while to pick up bits and pieces that could be edited together in post production for a recap session. More live streaming would come latter. There was already a table ready for the meetings to take place, but Holly did not want to wait to get started. She made a beeline over to a man she recognized as Derek Dib, the host of this event.

"Mr. Dib, do you have any thoughts you would like to express before the meeting begins?"

Parades were never really the Grand Marshal’s thing. Especially not ones with open air taxis. Too much open space, too many people, too many ways for things to go utterly wrong. It wasn’t enough that today was founders day, one where the multitude of people would be much larger than any other gathering seen on Ryloth during the year, but with the possibility of an imminent threat, the danger of having a gathering like this only heightened. If it was not meant to be taken seriously, she highly doubted that the Vicelord would’ve given her the briefing. Wherever this threat was coming from, whoever had decided to begin to attack the worlds living free within the Confederacy, a target like this gathering would be almost too salivating to pass up.

Luna had voiced her concerns, of course. They could reschedule this parade and carnival for another day, another time, whenever the threat had seemingly passed. To do it while there was the possibility of an attack only served to tie her stomach into knots. But she was not an event planner, and in truth, had little sway in those types of meetings. They were not her battleground. Her battleground was, quite literally, a battlefield. Not contrived political meetings or planning committees. So, the show went on, despite her concerns, yet that did not mean she couldn’t have her hand in helping protect it if something was to occur.

The week before the festival, a full brigade of artillery, mobile infantry, paratroopers, engineers, medics, and air defense troopers, including the
701st Mobile Infantry Battalion were deployed to Ryloth to begin a week of joint training exercises, culminating in the military parade at the end of the week. TDW, a military mercenary unit that had worked closely with the CDF for a while now, was allowed to join up with the training week as a way to continue the relations between the two organizations. Of course, as Luna knew, this was long term ruse to allow the Dauntless to deploy to the planet for a week in case this threat did come to pass, but it did allow for some good training to occur between them and the standing Twilek militia. And, if she hadn’t had the thought of the threat on the back of her mind throughout the week, Luna probably would’ve said it was a decently fun experience for her and her men. Most of them did probably have a fair of bit of fun training with the twilek, as of the time of the parade, only Luna and a small few upper level officers knew of their true purpose for being on the planet.

But the week was coming to a close. There had been no major attack, and nothing had really occurred that was out of the ordinary, outside of an artillery misfire that had left three privates with minor damage and at least one with at least partial permanent ear damage. The medics had a field day chewing out those men. Dumb mistakes like that would get more than just three people hurt on the battlefield. But other than that, the week had gone relatively smoothly, and the brigade was now marching their way through the streets, shoulder to shoulder with the Twilek militia men that they had spent the week with. It was enough to put a small smile on Luna’s face. They didn’t have too many aliens within her arm of the Dauntless, and more exercises, even if the true purpose was a slight ruse, was something that could change that moving into the future.

Luna’s speeder was near the back, with her sitting to next to the Twilek militia’s captain, dressed in her freshly pressed Grand Marshal uniform. Her armor would have been more her style, but optics were an area she knew she could work on. Wearing a faceless helmet wouldn’t do much to push the CIS and planetary government working together narrative, but without it, the people could see that the Grand Marshal proudly stood with the fearsome twilek warriors that desperately fought for their planet’s freedom all those years ago. A freedom that they enjoyed on days like today, and one that was well earned.

As they neared the halfway point in the parade, her comm unit began to chime from it’s position on her belt. Furrowing her brow slightly, not entirely happy to be interrupted at a time like this, she pulled the commlink off her belt and allowed it to play, but not before turning to the captain with a weary smile. “Apologies, my friend. This is more than likely something I should answer.” Still wearing that smile, she allowed the comm to open and play it’s message. The contents of that comm swiftly wiped whatever smile lingered after addressing the man.

“Confederates… You are not wanted here. Perhaps once upon a time, you were what you claimed to be - the protector of millions. But the galaxy is seeing you for what you are - a tyrannical, power hungry, conquering force. Just another empire, trying to use another name. And though my ideologies have strayed very far away from yours, I still hold a warm place in my heart for what you have given me, when I was known among you as Knight Commander Madalena Antares.”

Ah…so that was the threat they had been warned over. Luna knew little of Knight’s Obsidan politics, but the name rang familiar in her mind, but when she was little more than a captain of the dauntless legion.

“Deny us… And we will come. En force.”

Well. Wasn’t that nice. The message ended, and her eyes flicked up from where she had been looking down to gaze around, toward military parade in front of her. It had seemingly ground to a halt, the troopers looking for orders and the squad leaders seemingly doing the same. Something was needed to snap them into action, and Luna was happy to provide that word. Opening her commlink and tuning it into all CDF and TDW frequencies, her eyes continued to focus forward to watch their reaction. “I’m sure you all heard what I did and have many questions. Unfortunately, now is not the time to answer them. All you do need to know, is that you are to prepare yourselves for what is to come. Squad leaders, get your men organized and headed back toward the base camp, just outside the city. From there we will organize our response. Vehicle transportation is preferred. Get moving.”

Her eyes turned from the parade, where the squad leaders could be seen snapping their people into attention, to the twilek captain sitting next to her. Vet’jula, his name. A veteran of the freedom fights his people had endured for long before the CIS arrived. She gave him a little nod, holding her comm tightly in one hand. “We have fought alongside you for your freedom before, captain. This time will be no different.” He bowed his head lightly, then grinned, showing off those rows of pointed teeth. “Arni’soyacho, grand marshal.”

With a gracious, bowed head in response, Luna watched as men already passed them on their way back to base camp. She gave the driver a nod, who seemingly did his best to turn the speeder around while Luna made a few extra calls. Her fleet marshal, Tyrias Aran Tyrias Aran , would already be in the space around ryloth with a transportation fleet to shuttle her men off the planet, if things had gone as expected. “Fleet Marshal, what are you seeing up there?” She hoped that there would be some sort of answer, some idea of the threat they were facing. If there could be, things would be a bit easier to organize once they got back to base camp.

Raven couldn’t believe the pomp and circumstances that was happening right now. In fact, it was beyond irritating. First with the CIS First initiative and now with the Siskeen and Ryloth issues. It was just one thing after another and the woman often wondered as to how anyone was supposed to get anything done if people were just going to be whiny little… Her thoughts trailed off then as a simple sigh parted her red painted lips. Heeled feet carried her pale figure forwards and into the palace on Olanet. The irony of all of this was the individual perspectives that were coming into play and for the most part Raven wanted nothing more than to settle her own matter on her own turf in Felacat. Instead she was being invited to deal with matters of the Confederacy, because unfortunately for them, they were a large faction and large factions tended to accrue a large range of differences of opinions.

Followed closely upon her heels were Nadia and Nala, her two most trusted bodyguards. Both were slightly on edge and the vampiress felt their slight tension and weariness due to the circumstances which had unfolded and led them to being here upon this planet, but her thoughts continued to return to the proclamation at hand. The Proclamation of Independence, was something that the woman referred to as a joke and the irony was astounding. Pale hands were lifted as she clasped them behind her back as she continued walking. No one could have ever known what was going on behind her chocolate brown eyes; they couldn’t have guessed the thoughts that plagued her three thousand year old mind. Why? For her face was a blank slate, if she showed anything, it was simply a look of boredom, one that reflected the matter at hand.

This meeting was again nothing more than grandstanding and propaganda that sought to undermine something that wasn’t even halfway true. They wanted Independence from a faction that built upon Independence and as she entered the gargantuan room, she noted those that were already present and waiting. As she followed John Locke she couldn't help but note the others already present. Others that appeared to be those of the Agents of Chaos. If these events were anything to go by, it was premeditated and Derek Dibs certainly knew all about it before today. At least, that was the opinion she was under, otherwise why wasn't Siskeen a battleground?

She paused as she took in each figure currently present, but her gaze rested upon Derek in the end. What could she say about him? What observations could she surmise from simply looking at the sharply dressed man? If there were any, she kept them to herself. For now, she reserved judgement upon the Viceroy of Siskeen, at least when it came to a verbal one. The moment that the events started to topple over like dominoes; even she couldn’t restrain the judgmental thoughts of the Viceroy’s actions. However she noted his position by his chair and the hands that gripped the backing and slowly, she angled her head down in a quiet nod towards the other Viceroy; in a quiet greeting before she quietly approached the oval table.

The woman paused only slightly enough to wave a hand at Nala and Nadia, signalling for them to take their positions in the back, within the shadows of the large room and away from the cameras, rather than by her side. There will be no violence here for now, too many watchful eyes are present, so I will be fine, she said to the two bodyguards through telepathy before her figure, dressed in a simple black elegant dress, seated herself at the table close to where John himself was.

Raven paid extra attention to the fact that there were cameras present. Today wasn’t going to be a closed off conversation, but rather a public one. Did Derek and the Agents of Chaos really want to embarrass themselves like this? The vampiress quietly questioned as she leaned her form back into her seat while her hands gently rested upon her lap.

The joyous laughter of the Twi'lek childen at play soothed the mind as she walked among them, slow steps guiding her past the varying trajectories of different pairs chasing one another in a small area, trying not to bump into elders who stood nearby, watching the younger generation full of energy that they once had. The eyes of one of the children met hers as the young rutian rushed up to meet her. Emerald pools stare up at her before she kneels down, to meet the young one at a more appropriate height. "Cahsinark dan juy bo geo?" She spoke in her native tongue, eyes shimmering with possible delight beneath the illumination of the dome. A soft smile curls the slicer's lips as she ponders the options before her. Having learned the language of the people during her days working alongside Kinsa'olan Kinsa'olan , it wasn't difficult for her to understand, or even speak it anymore. Days like this were not seen during her childhood, living under the Hutts' rule as they collected every coin or took what or whoever they so desired. Pulled back to the present her smile held firm. "Ka, Do cahsinark juy toe a ormudis."
Just like that, the delight began to shine like a bright star as the rutian spun around, and called to the others. Their voiced seemed to blend together as she stood upright once more. Glancing around, she took in the surroundings once more. If there was anything she had picked up from her time in the Ministry of Secrets, it was to never let your gurad down. Brows furrowed for but a second, returning to normal as her line of thought returned to the situation at hand. Recent events within Confederate Space had made her more cautious about additional incidents. Today, however, celebrations were to be had and she intended to partake, for at least a little bit.
Lifting her foot, she stopped a ball as it was about to roll past her. Leaning down to pick it up, she tossed it to the nearest of the children, a young male of pink skin who laughed with glee as he caught it. Turning on her heel, she moved to join them in their game.
A voice rising from an unknown source brought her pause, turning to listen as even the children has seemed to stop in their tracks. Taking a look further down the street, others seemed to have stopped what they were doing, visible confusion appearing on the faces of some as others quickly resumed their previous activity. 'I'd hoped this would remain a nice day.' She thought, a sigh escaping her lips before turning back to the gathered children who were looking amongst one another. With a soft clap of her hands, she gathered their attention, holding them out for the ball to be passed.
"Jid geo cao juy!"
