OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create more mystical/Force-based technology for use by members of the Mandragora.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Power Transfer - A Force/Magick user can channel power through a Conduit either to extend their reach, assail from an unforeseen direction, or to store energy in a loop to be released later. The more Conduits used, the greater the reach or more energy can be stored; but the more fragile the lattice is to disruption.
  • Bound - Only Force/Magick users who serve at the pleasure of the Nightmother of the Mandragora can tap into the Conduits of Souls.
  • Light - At night the Kyber crystals emit a globular 25 lux natural glow fueled by surrounding Force energy out to 25 meters. The hue of this illumination is determined by the Kyber crystal used.
STRENGTHS
  • Hop - A Force/Magick user can channel power through a Conduit to reach a target further away (25 meters from the Conduit) or from a direction they are not expecting.
  • Relay - Power can be channeled between conduits (within 50 meters of one another) to extend their reach or cordon off an area by forming a ring, star, or other enclosed shape.
  • Store - If an enclosed shape is formed by power passing between Conduits, Force energy may be sustained potentially indefinitely until utilized or the shape is broken.
  • Bound - The ritual magick used to create a Conduit of Souls binds the Hop, Relay, and Store use only to those that serve the Nightmother of the Mandragora.
WEAKNESSES
  • Initiation - To use as a hop, relay, or store, a Force/Magick user must be within 25 meters of the nearest Conduit. The closer they are, the more power can be channeled through it.
  • Indication - When in use as a relay or store, the Kyber crystal will glow bright enough to be seen even under the midday sun.
  • Vulnerable - A Conduit of Souls does not possess any defensive measures except being made of stout materials.
  • Nullification - Regions bereft of the Force, or where the Force is suppressed by some means will prevent the Conduits from functioning.
DESCRIPTION
Conduits of Souls can be placed along streets within Twi'lek towns or cities temporarily (for special occasions) or permanently. Their natural ability to illuminate a sizeable area makes them especially helpful even for Twi'lek not of the Mandragora as they walk the streets at night. Often times more might be brought in to enable magickal feats during festivals -- providing a self-contained area of effect and one seemingly not under the Mandragora's control (moving about a circle of Conduits). They can also be used to aid in the defense of Twi'lek towns and cities; deployed in advance or on-demand to enable Sisters and Brothers alike to contain or respond to threats within their midst.

When not being used, the crystals atop the Conduits appear like any other crystal in the mid-day sun; and only glow when used to transfer or store power. They could easily be seen as little more than decoration during the day, and a convenience at night while they illuminate the streets.

While the Conduits of Souls can enable Witches or Warlocks to attack from more than one place at once or longer distances than usual, the Conduits themselves are little more than staves planted into the ground or affixed to a building with a crystal bound to one end. If the crystal is destroyed that Conduit will no longer function, which may sever the ability to reach other Conduits further down the line, or break an established Circle, Star, or other self-contained pattern sustaining some amount of energy or a field restricting movement.
