PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Small Sensor Profile: The Cabur's sensor profile is far smaller than it should be for a ship its size and tonnage thanks to its passive stealth features and electronic warfare suite, potentially frustrating enemy targeting and detection.
  • Versatile: The Cabur is equipped with a variety of different systems that allow it to adapt for the occasion, including but not limited to increasing it's speed/or maneuverability at the cost of it's shields and power to weapon systems.
  • Advanced Sensors and Communications: The Cabur has a powerful sensor suite that when combined with it's Manda tactical battlenet module gives it considerable tracking and targeting capabilities, as well a notable ability to be able to analyze enemy craft to potentially attempt to ascertain any sort of weaknesses that it might have. Its advanced, encrypted communications systems allow it to stay in contact with friendly forces even in the face of heavy enemy jamming.
  • Heavily Armed, Well-defended: The Cabur packs a UAC-01 ultra-heavy accelerator cannon backed up by accelerator cannons, Class-D disruptors, missiles and even an assault-grade mass-driver rocket pod. It also features tough armor, frame and a powerful shield generator among other defensive measures to allow it to soak up almost as much firepower as it dishes out.
  • Advanced Point-defense Suite: The Araniik emplacements on the Cabur's tracking speed, accuracy, and the devastating weapon systems that it utilizes give the Cabur considerable ability to counter enemy missiles, starfighters, sub-capital craft and even small corvettes.
  • Self-Sufficient: The Cabur's salvage and repair/support foundry modules as well as it's ka'ra'vhetin aquaponics module make the frigate almost entirely self-sufficient provided it can salvage the right materials from the battlefield. Regardless, they greatly increase the ship's endurance.
WEAKNESSES
  • Main Hangar Blast Doors: The main hangar blast doors are located right at the ship's bow, and while the doors themselves are extremely heavily armored and there are a pair of Araniik emplacements inside, ordnance or weapons fire slipping through during flight operations can prove to an issue.
  • Poorly Defended Aft: While many of the ship's weapons can rotate to orient toward the aft, the ship's aft has precious little weapon emplacements by comparison, thereby making it the safest vector for an attack.
  • Rear Ramp: The ship's rear ramp opens once landed to either load or unload personnel, supplies and vehicles, thereby creating an opening for attack and/or infiltration.
  • 'Fortress' Mode: Only with all power from engines diverted to shields can the Caritr shield generator activate its 'fortress' mode.
  • Full Power to Maneuvering Array: With full power to the maneuvering array, the shields do not have enough power to stay active.
  • Friendly Fire: Careful use of the cluster bomb launcher is required so as to not friendly fire friendly starfighters, which can be difficult in particularly chaotic close quarters engagements.
DESCRIPTION
"I thought you said those Mandies liked broadsides."
"I did. They do."
"Then why's he turning his prow toward us?"
- Black box recording of the final conversation of the crew of a pirate frigate.

The workhorse of Strill Securities, the Cabur is the warship called to serve as an escort for larger capital ships, command vessel for groups of smaller capital ships, planetary assault and for medium-to-heavy anti-piracy duties. Though the company owns and operates warships of heavier tonnages that are more than capable of performing the Cabur's duties with great competence, the fact is that none of those warships are nearly as cost effective as the Cabur.

The Cabur's primary purpose is to be able to engage capital and sub-capital vessels in fleet actions, and to that end it is armed just for that purpose. A keel-mounted UAC-01S runs down the vessel's spine, giving it considerable extreme range punch against hostile capital ships, though the Cabur lacks the maneuverability to really make use of the weapon against sub-capital targets, as much of a waste as that would be. Ten SAC-02S super-heavy accelerator cannons, four SCDC-02S super-heavy class-D disruptor cannons and an assault-grade MRP-01 mass-driver rocket pod give the ship its main punch against capital grade targets, while a pair of MMOL-02C launchers and eight externally mounted and three hangar mounted starship-grade Araniik emplacements handle sub-capital targets and point-defense. The ship's considerable punch against sub-capital targets, augmented by its PCBL-01 point-defense cluster bomb launcher, also allows it to serve as escort for larger capital warships, and is used by Strill Securities for the same.

To live up to its namesake, the Cabur features a lightweight but tough Stesr'gar frame, lined with thermal gel and Agrinium, plated finished with Stesr'gar hull plates and a Stygian-triprismatic polymer-Stesr'gar composite armor. The company's powerful Caritr shield generator adds another layer of protection for the frigate as well as a means augment the vessel's weapons, propulsion and other systems with energy absorbed from enemy weapons fire. Countermeasures and close-in anti-starfighter and ordnance defense is done handled by the ship's CL-02 Countermeasure Launchers and PCBL-01 point-defense cluster bomb launcher respectively. Rounding out the ship's defensive suite is Ori'gayusr electronic warfare suite, which when combined with the frigate's reflec coating can frustrate enemy targeting and detection at medium and long range, though are entirely insufficient from preventing detection altogether. The ship's notable defenses do however do not make up for the comparative lack of rear-facing weapons coverage, which on a ship this size is a notable concern.

The Cabur was built with the intention of being able to ferry and host small contingents of Strill Securities troops to various operations that wouldn't necessitate the deployment of a more dedicated warship. To that end, the Cabur can house two companies of the company's troops, and typically ends up playing host to a mechanized and armored company. To ensure both that the ship itself has adequate fighter cover and that the troops are supported on their way down the Cabur features a hangar about the average size of what one could expect on a ship of its tonnage. A squadron of Kyr'galaar multi-role fighters, Jai'galaar fighter-bombers and Busayr Heavy Assault Transports are typically carried aboard, with the Busayr serving as a means to deploy up to a single company down to the surface. The Busayr isn't the only way the troops have down to the surface, however. The Cabur features twelve Chekar boarding/drop pods, which can also ferry the ship's onboard tra'verd contingent to hostile vessels and back during boarding operations. Finally, the Cabur is also fully capable of making planetary landings and directly unloading troops and vehicles via it's rear ramp, though this also opens the otherwise very well defended ship up to attack or infiltration.

The Cabur's advanced communications suite enables it to stay in touch with ground forces, its complement or other ships even in the face of heavy enemy jamming. Additionally, the frigate carries twelve orbital relay satellites to ensure that ground units are always able to reach ships in orbit so long as those satellites remain active. The warship's advanced targeting systems give it the ability to put its considerable weapons complement to extremely effective use. The ship's Manda tactical battlenet module greatly enhances the Cabur's targeting and tracking capabilties but more notably also assists the crew by analyzing enemy tactics and potentially developing a counter for the crew.

In order to lower operating costs, and to increase the ship's endurance, the Cabur is equipped with an aquaponics system as well as a salvage and repair/support foundry. The former allows the crew to grow their own food. The system is entirely self-sufficient once running, and can direct the crew to repair any damage or correct any other issues should any problems arise. The salvage module means that the crew doesn't have to let wait for salvage vessels and can make use of the salvage themselves. This has the additional benefit of removing clutter from the battlefield that could potentially allow hostiles or other ne'er-do-wells to avoid detection.

Like all of the capital warships produced by the company for use by Strill Securities or export, the Cabur is designed with crew safety and comfort are a priority. The company's quarters are built with the explicit purpose of facilitating easy and comfortable sleep in armor with sleep circuitry and body conforming gel without compromising ship duty rosters or safety with the entire system synced with the duty roster and ship's security system. The company's security system features highly advanced sensors and a number of both lethal and non-lethal defensive to potentially ensure that should intruders bypass its numerous physical security measures they can be dealt with swiftly. To round out its security features, the Cabur features a full-size brig for a warship of its size, with twelve 'standard' cells, four cells specifically made to hold dangerous force sensitives or other extremely dangerous non-force sensitives and two interrogation rooms.

This has got to be some sort of record for 'number of times reviewed within a fortnight'.
If there is, I think I just set it xD

Change log:
  • Removed all mention of maneuvering fins, there aren't any on this ship.
  • Correctly specified the rockets and their number in the assault-grade mass-driver rocket pods.
  • Corrected a spelling error under the Point-defense strength.
