PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Hardware:
  • Varied Layouts and Styling:
    • Mess Hall Style: The company produces two models of the Tra'tapcaf. One is a more 'sanitized' version, meant for customers who prefer the military mess hall style.
    • Tapcaf Style: Styled like a tapcaf on a core or outer rim world, depending on whether the customer prefers something more rustic or chic. This layout also includes storage for alcohol and features a full on well stocked, well-equipped bar. A micro-brewery and still can also be installed at customer request.
    • Mandalorian Tapcaf Style: Styled like the Oyu'baat, featuring heavy use of veshok (or other similar wood if veshok stocks are low) wood and some stone. Designed to accommodate Mandalorian crews, where officers and enlisted always eat together and booze is readily available. A ready supply of aruetii alcohol is present in the well-stocked, well-equipped bar as well as Mandalorian favorites such as Netra'gal, Kri'gee, Tihaar and occasionally whatever Mandalorian wine can be found. Alcohol is also produced on board, with a kri'gee and Netra'gal micro-brewery and a Tihaar still.
  • Automated Serving/Drink Mixing: Droid arms automatically serve the food, and will calculate the likelihood of having enough food if asked for extra before either electing to serve or not serve extras. For the tapcaf layout, when a dedicated bartender is not present, the automated drink mixer will use manipulator arms to mix the drink and serve it.
  • Assisted Cooking: The system can either work alongside galley staff, handle prep for them, or cook in the absence of one. These droids will also handle cleaning of all utensils and galley surfaces. Additionally, the system will organize storage spaces according to factory pre-programming or according to galley staff's directions.
  • 'Iu'yaniyasa Gar'birgaan' Automated Cargo Management System Compatibility: Food and other perishable items necessary for meal preparation can be brought in advance of meal preparation or on-demand from storage after thawing from carbon freeze.
  • Meal Preparation:
    • The system can produce a wide variety of meals and necessary components for the bar (if that layout is chosen), drawing on extensive libraries of various cuisines, including Mandalorian. Preparation can range from simple, to gourmet restaurant.
    • The system can learn recipes from galley staff or other personnel who demonstrate the recipe for it.
    • The system can either automatically plan meals or recommend meal plans based on inventory.
    • The system can learn to improve meals via appropriately detailed feedback.
  • Entertainment:
    • Viewscreens are present in all layouts, and can display everything from ship reports to holonet programming using the platform's comm suite.
  • Self Service Amenities:
  • Attached Inspirit Modular Refresher Booth(s)
STRENGTHS
  • Clean, Fresh, Organized: Food is prepared fresh for every meal, and irrespective of whether additional personal do the bulk of the cooking or not, the galley is kept absolutely spotless and organized.
  • Morale Boost: Good food without someone in the crew having to be involved but with the option to do so is always a boost to morale. In the tapcaf layout, especially on Mandalorian vessels, the alcohol is always appreciated by the outgoing watch.
WEAKNESSES
  • Only as Good as the Ingredients: The system's capabilities are limited by the ingredients it is provided. If the ingredients are of low quality, there is little the system can do to improve the taste.
  • Scale: The system needs to know ahead of time how many people to produce a meal for, and will otherwise produce enough food for the requisite number of people with only enough for a few extra servings here and there.
DESCRIPTION
"We're not wasting our vode's time with mess duty, or mess rotation or whatever other osik it is."
- Shuklaar Kyrdol
The problem with highly specialist, highly skilled personnel was that it was a waste to assign them mundane duties. One of these duties was meal preparation and serving in the mess. To combat this, and to reduce the bloat of non-essential personnel aboard their ships, stations and other ground side installations, Strill Securities and their parent company, Breshig War Forge Consolidated sought out a solution that didn't preclude organic and droid preparation in the above. Taking cue from the numerous automatic meal preparation systems, but making a few modifications, the Ka'ratapcaf was developed. The meal preparation system as a result was specifically designed to be able to assist in meal preparation, or handle the prep work for the meal so that it could be prepared easier and faster.
The system could also prepare meals autonomously, drawing on recipes from several extensive libraries of various cuisines, including Mandalorian food (though this module is usually only included on request, and after the customer is vetted). The preparation and presentation can range from simple, to gourmet restaurant. To augment its own capabilities, the system can learn new recipes from galley staff or other personnel who demonstrate the recipe for it, and can also use feedback provided that it is detailed enough to improve current reciples and/or change them to suit the tastes of the crew. To account for usually limited supplies on ships, the system has excellent inventory tracking and will plan or reccomend meal plans based on inventory.
Because of the relative informality and the presence of alcohol on most Mandalorian ships, the decision was made to further facilitate this. For Mandalorian customers and for their own vessels, the company includes an Oyu'baat style tapcaf, featuring heavy use of veshok or similar wood and some stone. A ready supply of both aruetii and Mandalorian alcohol is included in the well-equipped bar. A Kri'gee and Netra'gal microbrewery as well as a Tihaar still is present on board in most configurations. The bar too can be automated, with the system being able to serve or mix whatever drink exists it is able to based on inventory and its drink library. This part of the system can also learn new cocktails if taught.
Export customers can opt for this configuration as well, in which case the styling is entirely configurable by the customer. The still and microbrewery can also be included on customer request. For those customers wanting a more traditional military style mess, that is available as well, and naturally doesn't feature the bar add-on nor the provision for alcohol production. Either configuration provides a morale boost to the crew. That said, the system is only as good as the ingredients provided, and is made with the regular structure of station/ship/installation meals in mind. As such, it is poor at handling sudden, significant change in the number of people or handling special meal requests in conjunction. In such cases, the system will handle the 'main' meal first, and then handle the exceptions afterward, which may take time depending on the complexity of the meal preparation as well as the numbers being catered to.
