OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a heavy gunship for Strill Securities.
  • Image Source: Here and here.

  • Primary Source: Tra'kad-class transport.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Heavy and Versatile Armament: Six fast track fire-linked quad RHM-04 repeating heavy mass-driver cannon turrets and four fire-linked MMOL-02 modular ordnance launchers put a frightening array of weapons at the crew's disposal, allowing them to engage targets in both space and in atmosphere effectively.
  • Resilient: The gunship is heavily armored, well shielded and features both a cap drain and a combat de-ionizer, making it resistant to many forms of damage and thus making the gunship an extremely tough nut to crack. Combining this with the soft-kill active protection system makes it perfect for use in deploying troops to hot landing zones.
  • Advanced Sensor and Comms Suite: The Vuhyr'galaar has an advanced and long range comms and sensor suite, ensuring effective coordination and target acquisition.
  • Stealthy: The electronic warfare suite of the gunship and its low-profile engines ensures that it has a very low sensor profile at medium and long ranges, which means the enemy potentially has less time to prepare to engage both the gunship itself and its passengers and complement.
  • 'Manda' Tactical Battlenet: The Vuhyr'galaar benefits from having the fighter based version of the 'Manda' tactical battlenet as well as the ground variant, allowing it to benefit from sensor and targeting data from both accompanying fighter craft, capital ships as well as ground units. Additionally, the crew can benefit from the system's threat tracking and analysis features, allowing them to potentially gain the edge over an enemy combatant in a dogfight because of the system's potential to analysis of the other pilot and craft's capabilities and its following recommendation on how to counter both.
WEAKNESSES
  • Low Maneuverability: Unfortunately, the craft's powerful engines cannot make up for the weight of the various systems and subsystems mounted on the gunship, and as such it's maneuverability does suffer in comparison to similarly sized craft.
  • Large Target: The gunship is a large target, and while it's a very resilient craft, it's size does mean it will potentially take more fire than other gunships and eventually defenses can be worn down or simply invalidated by massed weapons fire or particularly powerful weapons.
  • Outnumbered: Like most Mandalorian craft, and in the particular case of Strill Securities, Vuhyr'galaar pilots often find themselves heavily outnumbered. Naturally, this stems from the low numbers per squadron that they're fielded in.
  • Boom: The Vuhyr'galaar carries a lot of ordnance, if a shot penetrates the armor and reaches the ordnance storage with enough energy left to detonate something, then it's very likely that the gunship will be destroyed entirely in the ensuing detonation of that ordnance and the following sympathetic detonation of the remaining ordnance.
DESCRIPTION
"Isn't that the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?"
- Anonymous Strill Securities Soldier, moments before his death.
Replacing Strill Securities' Tal'galaar gunship, the Vuhyr'galaar was designed to be hard hitting, resilient, low observability gunship that could not only potentially fight its way to a landing zone to drop off its passengers and complement, but also remain on station and support them. If spoken to, anyone in Strill Securities will swear up and down that the Vuhyr'galaar is the best gunship they've ever had the pleasure of using. The Vuhyr'galaar's heavy armament has the side effect of also making it suitable for screening larger transports, bombers and even capital ships, and it has been used in that capacity before and will likely continue to be used as such.

The Vuhyr'galaar has an advanced and long range comms and sensor suite, ensuring effective coordination and target acquisition. Six fast track fire-linked quad RHM-04 repeating heavy mass-driver cannon turrets and four fire-linked MMOL-02 modular ordnance launchers put a frightening array of weapons at the crew's disposal, allowing them to engage targets in both space and in atmosphere effectively. The guns are overseen by gunners, who can assign priority targets to the droid brains, choose target engagement order or even engage manual override and fire the weapons themselves from their station in the cockpit.

The electronic warfare suite of the gunship and its low-profile engines ensures that it has a very low sensor profile at medium and long ranges, which means the enemy potentially has less time to prepare to engage both the gunship itself and its passengers and complement. Once engaged, the gunship is heavily armored, well shielded and features both a cap drain and a combat de-ionizer, making it resistant to many forms of damage and thus making the gunship an extremely tough nut to crack. Combining this with the soft-kill active protection system makes it perfect for use in deploying troops to hot landing zones. Any damage it does sustain, however, can be dealt with by its complement of four MCD-01 Ga'gotabor droids.

The Vuhyr'galaar benefits from having the fighter based version of the 'Manda' tactical battlenet as well as the ground variant, allowing it to benefit from sensor and targeting data from both accompanying fighter craft, capital ships as well as ground units. Additionally, the crew can benefit from the system's threat tracking and analysis features, allowing them to potentially gain the edge over an enemy combatant in a dogfight because of the system's potential to analysis of the other pilot and craft's capabilities and its following recommendation on how to counter both. Additionally, it can also be used as an airborne command post and rapid deployment means for officers.

The Vuhyr'galaar does unfortunately have a few notable issues. The gunship is a large target, and while it's a very resilient craft, it's size does mean it will potentially take more fire than other gunships and eventually defenses can be worn down or simply invalidated by massed weapons fire or particularly powerful weapons. This isn't helped by it's low maneuverability. Unfortunately, the craft's powerful engines cannot make up for the weight of the various systems and subsystems mounted on the gunship, and as such it's maneuverability does suffer in comparison to similarly sized craft.

The bomber's design is complicated, making maintenance of the bomber a time consuming process that can only be done by those who are familiar with the intricacies of the design, its various subsystems and with the right set of tools available to them.

The Vuhyr carries a lot of ordnance, if a shot penetrates the armor and reaches the ordnance storage with enough energy left to detonate something, then it's very likely that the gunship will be destroyed entirely in the ensuing detonation of that ordnance and the following sympathetic detonation of the remaining ordnance.

Finally, like most Mandalorian craft, and in the particular case of Strill Securities, Vuhyr'galaar pilots often find themselves heavily outnumbered. Naturally, this stems from the low numbers per squadron that they're fielded in.
