SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Fast Track: All variants have a fast turret track speed despite the extreme weight and size of the weapons, the systems for which is in fact is where a notable portion of the tank's weight comes from.
  • Versatile and Heavy Weapons Loadout: Both CHT-01 variants have a versatile and very heavy weapons loadout, allowing them engage all manner targets, from infantry and light vehicles to heavily armored tanks and walkers and even gargantuan biological monstrosities.
  • Resilient: The tank is heavily armored, features ERA plates, combat de-ionizers, a pair of anti-missile octets and a shield generator. This enables it to take damage from a variety of different sources and of a variety of different types and come out intact.
  • Manda Tactical Battlenet: The Manda tactical battlenet gives crews a powerful data analytic and battlefield coordination tool that allows them to seamlessly share data with friendly infantry, other vehicles and even supporting aircraft, track and engage multiple targets easily with optimized targeting solutions, that also analyzes enemy tactics and can control and/or manage certain subsystems for the crew.
  • Automation: The load on the crew is reduced given that automated droid brains control the sponson, hull and pintle mounts.
  • Advanced Sensor and Communications Package: The tank's advanced and communications package allow it to detect and track targets and threats at all manner of ranges and also ensure that coordination between friendly forces and the crew is both easy and secure.
  • Sealed Crew Compartment: The crew compartment is environmentally sealed, allowing the crew to survive hazardous environments, chemical and biological weapons, augmenting the capabilities of their own armor to do so.
  • Sensor and Comms Jamming: The tank features a powerful sensor and communications jammer making it potentially difficult for the enemy to engage them as well as coordinate against their attack.
  • Enhanced Communications: The CHT-01 also features a comms unit booster and a hypercomm, giving the unit the tank is placed in command of enhanced communication capabilities, allowing them to stay in contact with friendly forces in other theatres of operation or in orbit.
WEAKNESSES
  • Tracks: Should the tank become de-tracked, it will be rendered immobile, and while it now becomes a bunker, the fact remains that it is now much more vulnerable given that it can no longer maneuver to protect its vulnerable rear.
  • Very Heavy: The tank is very heavy, making it difficult to transport as well and also making it difficult for the tank to traverse certain sorts of terrain that would bog down heavy vehicles.
  • EMP/Ion: Should any EMP/Ion damage manage to get through the tank's defenses then there's a high chance that many of the tank's sensitive electronics would become rendered useless, rendering it blind, defenseless or even completely unarmed.
  • Automation: The tank's high degree of automation does mean it is all the more susceptible to directed slicer attacks, viruses and the like should they actually be able to affect the tank.
  • Aft Vulnerability: The tank's rear lacks the ERA the rest of the tank is protected by, and is where the tank's drive is located at. A penetrating shot will likely immobilize the tank.
  • Reactor: The tank's Isotope-5 reactor will detonate violently and spectacularly, taking the entire tank with it, should it overload.
  • Radiation: Should the tank's reactor be breached, it will leech deadly radiation into the rest of the tank, damaging sensors and other sensitive equipment.
  • ERA: The tank's explosive reactive armor means that infantry are forced to operate either directly behind it (where there is no ERA) or at the minimum safe distance, limiting how much supporting infantry can help screen the tank. Additionally, once the ERA plates are expended, they need to be replaced, and these tanks do not carry spare ERA plates.
  • Supplies: The tank doesn't have a particularly large cargo supply, and almost all of it is dedicated to ammunition storage. The tank doesn't contain much in the way of spares or tools for the crew to use, meaning that should the tank's maintenance droids be knocked out, the crew will essentially be forced to abandon the tank if they cannot repair it. Assuming of course, that there are no friendly forces nearby.
DESCRIPTION
The second tank built by Breshig War Forge Consolidated, specifically to act as a command unit for Strill Securities' armored units, the CHT-01 Ja'hailir has seen years of service alongside the MBT-01, ST-01 Naast-class Super-heavy Tank and ST-01C Naast-class Command-variant Super-heavy tank and has received a number of field-tested upgrades and enhancements over the years. As with the MBT-01, the CHT-01 wasn't deployed during early operations with the CIS, nor was it used during operations on Yurb, but the company is eager to see just how well the addition of the command tank to joint operations will improve coordination and cooperation with their UNICOM counterparts.
All variants have a fast turret track speed despite the extreme weight and size of the weapons, the systems for which is in fact is where a notable portion of the tank's weight comes from. This allows them to bring their main guns to bear on a variety of different targets, whether they be nimble repulsorcraft or heavy walkers. Additionally, the tank can be equipped with a variety of different weapons, allowing it to engage a wide variety of different targets, enabling it to effectively support the tanks placed under the command of its commander or act as the tip of the spear of any attack.
The tank is heavily armored, features ERA plates, combat de-ionizers, a trio of anti-missile octets and a shield generator. This enables it to take damage from a variety of different sources and of a variety of different types and come out intact. The crew compartment is environmentally sealed, allowing the crew to survive hazardous environments, chemical and biological weapons, augmenting the capabilities of their own armor to do so.
The Manda tactical battlenet gives crews a powerful data analytic and battlefield coordination tool that allows them to seamlessly share data with friendly infantry, other vehicles and even supporting aircraft, track and engage multiple targets easily with optimized targeting solutions, that also analyzes enemy tactics and can control and/or manage certain subsystems for the crew. The load on the crew is further reduced given that automated droid brains control the sponson, hull and pintle mounts.
The tank's advanced and communications package allow it to detect and track targets and threats at all manner of ranges and also ensure that coordination between friendly forces and the crew is both easy and secure. The tank features a powerful sensor and communications jammer making it potentially difficult for the enemy to engage them as well as coordinate against their attack. The CHT-01 also features a comms unit booster and a hypercomm, giving the unit the tank is placed in command of enhanced communication capabilities, allowing them to stay in contact with friendly forces in other theatres of operation or in orbit.
There are a few notable issues with the tank itself, some because of the design and some from the fact that it is a very heavy tracked vehicle. Should the tank become de-tracked, it will be rendered immobile, and while it now becomes a bunker, the fact remains that it is now much more vulnerable given that it can no longer maneuver to protect its vulnerable rear. The tank's rear lacks the ERA the rest of the tank is protected by, and is where the tank's engine is located at. A penetrating shot will likely immobilize the tank. The CHT-01 is very heavy, making it difficult to transport as well and also making it difficult for the tank to traverse certain sorts of terrain that would bog down heavy vehicles.
Should any EMP/Ion damage manage to get through the tank's defenses then there's a high chance that many of the tank's sensitive electronics would become rendered useless, rendering it blind, defenseless or even completely unarmed. The tank's Isotope-5 reactor will detonate violently and spectacularly, taking the entire tank with it, should it overload. Should the tank's reactor be breached, it will leech deadly radiation into the rest of the tank, damaging sensors and other sensitive equipment.
The tank's explosive reactive armor means that infantry are forced to operate either directly behind it (where there is no ERA) or at the minimum safe distance, limiting how much supporting infantry can help screen the tank. Additionally, once the ERA plates are expended, they need to be replaced, and these tanks do not contain spare ERA plates. The CHT-01 doesn't have a particularly large cargo supply, and almost all of it is dedicated to ammunition storage. The tank doesn't contain much in the way of spares or tools for the crew to use, meaning that should the tank's maintenance droids be knocked out, the crew will essentially be forced to abandon the tank if they cannot repair it. Assuming of course, that there are no friendly forces nearby.
The weaknesses of the design doctrine of their tanks however is well known to Strill Securities, and their entire armored and mechanized doctrine is designed around ensuring that their enemy's ability to exploit these weaknesses is negated as far as changing battlefield circumstances and evolving technology will allow. The CHT-01 remains extremely popular with Strill Securities tank commanders, and likely will long after its replacement has been adopted.
