Skirmish Return of the Sith [TSE vs SJC]

bad-batch-finale-planet2.jpg

---

The distant world of Wayland had seen much devastation in its time - first from the cruel hand of the Republic and Palpatine, then again from the Yuuzhon Vong who would later come to strike down the world’s biological life. When the Ossus Project failed to revive the world, it would experience another devastation - before the finality of the Zero Plague would send it into a darkness that it would never recover from. 800 years of isolation and quarantine, to never be touched by another hand of a human.

Or so it would seem to the galactic eye. During this dark age, the forces of the Sepulchral and the Sith Eternal created a vault to protect immense stores of Dark Side Artifacts, Knowledge, Tomes, and weaponry. Shrouded from the eyes of the Jedi, and so far from conventional lanes of travel to not be accidentally discovered, Wayland served as one of the prime locations for these dark sanctums; hiding away thousands of years of Sith history, kept safe from the prying eyes of the unworthy and the dangerous.

Now, with many of the vaults opening; the Jedi have been warned of the arrival of the Vault’s gatekeepers returning to collect. Cities on planets nearby already torn asunder by the great vaults opening, by star destroyers leaving the surface of the planets only to kill thousands upon thousands in their wake; now for yet more to join them. The world begins to stir as ancient mechanisms beneath the planet begin to stir; and the masked demons once again roam the world in search of their treasure.

Unknown forces have found themselves in orbit, on the ground, and within the newly gleamed tunnels of the vault. Sithspawn stir in their crypts, armories and robots whir to life once more, and the Sith begin to load their treasures onto fleets both hidden within the vaults, and without. Masked and anonymous, infiltration teams run rampant across the planet even as Jedi begin to arrive - even while some were already on the planet waiting.

Objectives:

  1. The Vault
    1. Massive obsidian labyrinths exist beneath Wayland, hidden by the quarantine and inhospitable climate the world has existed with for centuries. These vaults are full of sith artifacts, weapons from bygone eras, and armies that have slumbered for nigh on a millenia. Within are hallways and rooms carrying endless power - and is the Sith’s job to prepare it all for departure back to Odavessa. For the Jedi, they trying to stop these unknown Sith - protect the planet, and stop the great doors from opening so the buried fleets cannot be allowed to escape.
  2. The Settlements
    1. While not nearly as populated as they once were, cities buried within mountain peaks contain hundreds of thousands of citizens. The vaults beneath have already surged seismic activity to dangerous levels, but when they open - they threaten to crack entire mountains apart, killing everyone who remains within the cities. Stop the gates, or save the populations before they are sent into the abyss beneath the mountains.
  3. In Orbit
    1. In orbit, there lies a small treasure fleet. Mostly unmarked freighters, but a fleet awaits their prize from the surface. Tasked with escort and retrieval, they are prepped to strike back at any incoming vessels, effectively blockading the planet so long as they wait upon their charge. Jedi are to stop the fleet, while those among the Sith fleets are bound to protect their given tasks - at least until the underground ships and weapons are in orbit.

Hyrva was led here by voices today, to Wayland. Lately, she has been doing the same job she used to use the title of Prophet of the Worm Emperor before, only now. Her home was still safe back home, so she was able to stay away to gather even more knowledge and information. The method worked, those who left at home gained a lot of new knowledge through the woman. This is why the Truthspeaker was still here today in this place where the Mandalorians and the Sith had fought each other in the near past.

Mgn'ghft, mgn'ghft, mgn'ghft! N'ghft ephailllln'gha ng h' ah'mgehye, uh'eor mgleth ahna!

The Truthspeaker followed the voices that led her to an interesting part of the Fortress. She found a place here that had not been discovered before, a library. Interesting! In any case, she was sure she could find useful things here. Otherwise why would she have come here? Through the Force, she felt that there were others nearby, but Hyrva hadn't dealt with it much yet. The woman usually excluded the outside world for most of the day and lived in her own world where there were only visions and whispers. Now, however, her attention has been drawn to the books.

Mgn'ghft, mgn'ghft, mgn'ghft! N'ghft ephailllln'gha ng h' ah'mgehye, uh'eor mgleth ahna!

These proved interesting and were ones she had never seen or read before. So Hyrva definitely found it expedient to take these with her. So she called an antigrav storage pad and began to pack books and datacrons with telekinesis. The whispers did not explicitly refer to one or two books, rather the entire library was what they wanted. The woman did not question all this, she was absolutely sure that the voices would not deceive her. They never did…

Mgn'ghft, mgn'ghft, mgn'ghft! N'ghft ephailllln'gha ng h' ah'mgehye, uh'eor mgleth ahna!

More books have been added to the storage pad.

Other planets had already been ravaged by this unknown threat, cities torn asunder by great vaults opening. When the reports came, Wyatt and his small group of Jedi sought it out; but often too late. The vaults were stripped, and besides some Sith markings, there was little to really go on. Witness reports had given them little and less to go on - and the once Grandmaster of the Jedi Order found it increasingly frustrating how easily they had slipped by them again and again. Now, at least, they had a heads up.
Scouting teams were picked up after security teams were increased following the last vault opening - and the Jedi were deployed to Wayland ahead of the treasure fleet in orbit. He had brought some of his own friends along - knights and Masters who had chosen not to align themselves with the political upheaval of the two existing orders. Even still, he couldn't help find himself split - between wanting to help the Jedi trapped in their temple on Coruscant, and the rising threat of this new organization.
The most he could hope for, was that the Jedi got free without bloodshed and this wouldn't be a repeat of Order 66 more than 800 years ago. For now, he had to bring his entire being into stopping these other Sith from whatever it was they were seeking. A hand idly scratched at his beard, robes stirring in the grass from the wind, his attention moving towards the horizon before him.
"Sense anything?", Master Jo-Li asked him.
"Small spots of black in a greater white painting; but I couldn't tell you where. Most of it is focused on there -", he said, motioning to the mountain city. Birds flew from its great peak, and through their feet they could even sense the ever so subtle rumblings of great machinery beneath the planet. Churning, clunking, preparing itself for reawakening.
"Then I imagine we should work our way that way."
Wyatt nodded slowly before standing, following the lead of his comrade.

Objective 2: The Settlements
Location: A city starport -> The city gates

Starlin was on the verge of offering up his ship as an evac transport when the ground began to shake beneath his feet. He kept his balance only by the power of the Force, while others around him stumbled and fell. Rocks fell from the ceiling, some no bigger than pebbles, others large enough to do damage. By the time the earthquake stopped, people were still screaming in terror.

That was when it occurred to him that there was no way they could get everyone out in time. Not by ferrying them offworld in a thousand ships.

"There's got to be another way," he said out loud. "Aren't there gates to this city? Can't you leave, go down into the jungles?"

"The Sith are blocking them," a nearby civilian said, eyes wide. "With rubble and monsters..."

"I can deal with both."

Starlin ran past the citizens crowding the evac ships, heading in the opposite direction they were running from. He didn't even care if his vessel was stolen by desperate people. At least they would be saved from this mess.

Through the thinning throngs of panicked, escaping civilians, he reached the massive gates. The doors were automatic, opening upwards like a garage door. The door was shut, but he could see inhuman claws scrabbling at the gap in the bottom. Something was trying to get in.

There was no other way out. Bracing himself, Starlin pulled a combat knife from his belt and sliced into the palm of his hand. He trickled the blood that dripped from the room in a half-circle around the gate, his lips moving silently as he performed the ritual taught to him by Syd Celsius Syd Celsius many years ago. Energy began to thrum in the air as the protection magic took, creating an invisible barrier beyond which any mindless Sithspawn could not pass.

Then he punched the opening mechanism, and the gate lifted, revealing a pile of rubble - and a whole lot of monsters.

The wound in Starlin's hand healed rapidly as he stepped over the barrier, taking his lightsaber and shoto in hand. The blades ignited, blue and orange, the hum of plasma against the growling and gnashing of misshapen beasts.

"I'm gonna purify the chit out of y'all," he said, smirking.

The first monster leaped at Starlin. He raised his burning swords to meet it.

Objective 2: The Settlements
Location: A nearby town, heading for the main city.

It began.

The earth was torn asunder, and from it, monsters arose. Creatures of the night, twisted by Alchemy into horrid forms. At first, it was a slaughter. People were little more than food for the Sithspawn that harassed them. And yet, people were resilient. Determined to survive, they enlisted the Silvers. They wanted to escape the Sith. But this wasn't just to reclaim artifacts. It was revenge. Punishment. With the fall of the Empire, the Galaxy had to be reminded of the truth.

In it's death, worlds will burn.

Gnox stood among the ruins of a town, his piercing red eyes staring at the carnage. Blood dripped from his monstrous teeth. How many had he eaten here? They had been forgettable. No, there was one. A woman trying to protect her family. The wound she had left him was long healed, but she would be one to remember. Around him the Mochirsa that he seemed to hold a kinship with feasted on the remnants of the dead. "How many survived?" His gaze shifted towards a taller one of these Butchers. Blessed with his own blood, the creature was just as much a Sithspawn as it was Sangnir. By blood they were connected.

"Equal parts to the dead, my Lord."

As ever, the being was far more eloquent than his appearance suggested. Most Butchers were covered in scars, symbols of their strength and prowess. But Mangletooth had no such scars. He still looked like a beast, but the Sangnir blood healed all. Gnox's eyes narrowed for a moment. Then a grin formed. This wasn't the first town Gnox and his hoard ripped through on Wayland. Survivors had been let go. To spread word of these monsters. To spread fear.

To spread illness.

"Good."

The Butcher's 'reproduced' by infecting those they deemed strong and worthy. Similar to the Rakghoul's, the infected would change, violently, into more of the Butchers. It was curable, of course, but only by the Light. And only if they knew what was happening. In the settlements the Jedi would arrive to, numerous would already be infected. The sick, the meek, those usually unworthy of such a blessing, were ticking time bombs.

How many could the Jedi cure before the rest changed into these near mindless monsters? Would they realize the easiest solution and kill the infected to protect those who weren't? Would they pull their attention from the coming battle to instead try and help as many as possible?

Gnox was eager for answers. He wiped the blood from his maw, scattering it onto already bloodstained cobblestone with a flick of his wrist. The stage had been set.

"Gather the horde and relay these instructions. No more survivors. We raze this world to the ground." The Butchers around him were already giddy with excitement. Even Mangletooth, for all his posturing, couldn't hide his wide, savage grin.

"By your orders! Run free! Feast!" A resounding and haunting cheer echoed throughout the ruins. They charged, trampling skull and bone underfoot as they rushed for the next city. Barreling on all fours like animals, following after the largest of them all. Gnox was coming, and with it, destruction would follow.

Accompanying the mysterious treasure fleet was the Eternal Rule, the new flagship of Darth Carnifex; former Emperor of the Sith Empire. Several smaller vessels sped away from the battle cruiser, rushing down into Wayland's atmosphere. The white-hot glow of re-entry bathed each vessel, dissipating gradually as the convoy reduced speed once they had broken the cloud cover.

As the ships traveled along their path, a large mountain range gradually rose to dominate the distant horizon. Large incisions had been made into the mountain's face in which machinery and other complex structures resided. Guns swiveled in their mounts as the convoy approached, firing vectors keyed as the cannons tracked the procession. Just as quickly as they had come online, the guns were deactivated to allow the ships to pass by unmolested.

The ships congregated on a landing platform within the shadow of the mountain's face, coming to rest on carbon-scored durasteel. Boarding ramps lowered with the whoosh of pressurized air, clouds of white froth creeping along the floor before quickly dissipating. Multiple figures emerged from the ships, their sharp uniforms and blood-red armor emblazoned with the iconography of the Sith. Those that emerged from within the mountain-machinery wore similar emblems, but their clothes had become degraded and worn.

Of the landed ships, only one was different from the others. No great multitude sprung forth from its depths, just two beings of titanic proportions that drew all eyes towards them with their presence alone. Cloaks of sable cascaded down from their broad shoulders, wide hoods concealing their features in darkness.

The first drew back His hood, revealing the visage of the former Emperor. The other then drew back his hood, revealing an almost mirror visage of the former Emperor.

Drawn by an unspoken command, the highest-ranking officer of the fortress strode forward and fell to his knees in supplication. "Blessed Emperor, we have been waiting so long for your deliverance." Fanaticism had rooted in the mountain garrison, it was evident in their wide eyes as they clutched icons carved from bone and whispered incoherent prayers under their breath. "So, so long. We have held true to your word, oh divine lord. Those that have broken your faith have been punished, those that have doubted your faith have been punished, and those that seek to corrupt and destroy your faithful have been punished." They had endured an internal schism, the wavering of faith, and multiple waves of Imperial and Alliance assaults.

Upon closer inspection, one could see that the officer had ritualistically carved crude imitations of Sith symbols, obviously drawn from incomplete memory, across his skin. Several instances of self-mutilation bore further scars of infection, the rank squalor the garrison had mired themselves in afflicting the survivors with numerous diseases. The skin hung tight to their bones, what remained of their clothing far too large for their emaciated frames.

Carnifex regarded these wasting Imperials with casual apathy before speaking, "It is good that you held so dearly to your convictions. Your long vigil is at an end, I have come to deliver you from your suffering. Mount Tantiss is no longer viable to the Empire, gather yourselves and prepare to withdraw." Though weary, the survivors of the Tantiss garrison were reinvigorated by the booming baritone of their dearly revered Emperor. Old protocols buried in their deranged minds sprung back to the surface, and they began to carry themselves in a more formal manner.

Carnifex and His double moved past them, flanked by accompanying crimson-armored soldiers. The other half edged closer to speak, "Our power still draws such devotion even when decanted into two vessels, most illuminating." Carnifex did not respond immediately, the silence growing as they passed through the decaying fortress. "We were always worthy of worship, it is the destiny of the lesser to expand their lives in the name of the greater."

Demiurge, the split half of Kaine Zambrano, smiled wickedly, "It is only natural."

Not again...

Standing outside the great castle, Caltin just shook his head. While it was amazing just how well the Dark structure held up, magic or not, he just could not believe he was here. It was not meant to happen, why here? Why now?

He knew about the tragedy of Wayland. Not of second-hand knowledge, or reading. He had seen the wonderful world when it was full of life. Then the Vong destroyed the moon and its people in one fell swoop. Palpatine's fortress aside, the planet had enough. The Force pulling him, pulling them to the planet made for bad things that would be happening. This inspired Caltin to be something that he didn't like to be anymore, a bit of a vigilante. However, when he landed on the planet, "Reek Squad", the Ranger Unit assigned to him seemed all too eager to get into a fight. This was a problem.

Upon landing, he could sense them and if he could them... then they could him...

Calm down, everyone. If they didn't know we were here yet, then they do now. Just relax and let's move.

If this was the last time he was on Wayland, Caltin wouldn't really care about Sith getting artifacts from here. It was obvious now what was going on after all. Anyway, their actions then wouldn't matter to him, the Sith of today? Their actions were dust, lower than that of dirt. No matter what right they think that they may lay claim to, it was over and done with, the people of the planet laid more claim and didn't even know it. He was here for them. He was here to be the "Voice of the Voiceless".

Why do I suddenly want an ice cream bar?

He could live with them getting into some of the vaults, but there was one particular that he would fight them to a standstill to keep them out of. There was no time like the present.

... YET THE DAWN ALWAYS COMES.

[Any text in brackets signify comms]

The Mountain’s shield generator stood tall and proud (if a shield generator could be) next to the facility it was almost a shame that it would fall on this day as a ”Pegasus” came screaming in under sensor range. It was not low enough the further it flew in but that did not have to last long. Soon the transport broke off its attack run and at top speed made it to a safe distance. The cargo was dropped anyway, a “F.I.S.T.” Omega Squad’s fast insertion vehicle came running in the four man crew crouched and hanging off the sides ready for insertion they were getting closer…

… too bad the vehicle was shot to pieces.

The infiltrators, “The Dominion” as they were called were already inserted, along with Sauriel and Michael, the two snipers. They were located just inside one of the crevasses after a night insertion. Set up with thermal imaging scopes and their “God Guns” the insertion team had a view of much of the structure that they were here to destroy. On top of that, they were hooked into systems that allowed them to hear comms chatter.

The rest of the team were busy, they were busy climbing the back face of the mountain all the to the top. Once at the top, harpoon guns would set up zip-lines into the facility. This was the best way to get in unnoticed, it was the least expected point of entry because it was the most difficult. Right now the Sniper/Overwatch team was quiet because there was nothing to warn them about, but they were busy getting a measure of the Sith’s patrol patterns and taking notes. This would be to increase the stealth abilities of the team when it was needed.

Sith Fighters were doing routine patrols but getting closer by the pass. A quick comm to Pegasus 2 rectified this as the gunship did not have the speed of the starfighters, but Uriel the pilot could lose them in the canyon. Pegasus 1 could not lie in ambush just yet, not until the team was in the structure. They were at the peak of their climb when Sauriel contacted them with a warning.

[Hold position.]

[Report]

Large patrol, at least three Force Users. Recommend you let them pass.

He doesn’t have a shot.

If Sauriel sees them, he has a shot, but there are too many targets. Alarms would be raised before he dropped them all.

[Clear to move.]

The patrol was well inside and moving down to the next level before Sauriel informed them of this.

[Acknowledged] Mount up!

Harpoons shot across the sky and slammed into the rockfaces just past the infiltration points. Three by three each of the team zipped across, setting up a perimeter to secure the area. Gabriel had a charge and was prepping it along the bridgeway. This would serve to handle any ambushes once they began to make their way down.

Weapons check…

Quietly, each man looked up, this meant that they were ready to go. Once Azrael himself was good, he tapped his comm-link one more time.

[We good?]

[Clear to move.]

They were moving inward, stopping at a guard station. This was going to be tricky as the patrol stations checked in rather frequently. Chamuel came up with a good alternative as he set up one of their comm-links on a loop so as they could remain hooked into the system and the check-in was generic auditory.

[Hold position, two in a compromising lane.]

[Green…]

Azrael could not finish his “go ahead”, the two patrollers fell from headshots.

[You’re welcome.]

Man, that was fast.

Let’s move.

Hang on…

Azrael turned around.

What now? We have to move.

She’s here. Just got a call from her.

Alpha, Go. Bravo, Perimeter.

...
... yeah, we scare them.

The Jedi slowly crept forward into the dark tunnel, relying on sound and touch far more than sight to navigate through the abyss. A part of him wished to simply reach out into the Force, feel the energies flow around him to discover all that was around him. In that knowledge, he could have moved quicker and feel more at ease. But by concentrating on concealing his presence instead, the knight hoped to not to draw any attention to himself. In world where cities cracked and caved open - when thousands of troops and dozens of starships fought, what was the presence of a single normal human deep in a tunnel?

Yet a familiar feeling began to tug at his mind, pulling away his concentration from his task of trying to minimize his force presence. The feeling tugged at him harder, more constantly - he was being watched. The susevfian paused, only for a spotlight to suddenly illuminate the tunnel. A being wielding a blaster slowly rose it to the ready position.

"Who are...a Jedi!"

Before the being could shoot, Travot stretched out his hand and quickly flicked it upwards - the blaster rifle's barrel suddenly swung far quicker and harder than it should have - smashing itself straight into the humanoid's face - eliciting a shriek of pain followed by a number of errant blaster bolts being pumped into the ceiling. He could the staccato whine of the bolts begin to echo through the cave network. Dust began to fall from the ceiling and burnt ozone permeated the air. So much for stealth...Travot stretched his hand and focused on the surprised guard, telekinetically gripping him and suddenly pulling him towards the large-framed Jedi. Wretched from the ground, the humanoid let out another cry as he flew through the air towards Travot. The Jedi offered a wan smile before gently pressing his hand against the being's forehead. The guard fell quiet and Travot slowly lowered the hapless being onto the cave floor.

Someone is bound to have heard that. I should keep moving...

The ancient Jedi had taken many risks, and only few had made it as far as Wayland. Word was that Masters Skywalker had arrived there once before, but the history was more steeped in cloning, and that was part of the reason Master Starchaser made the trip here. The Shortfin was landed with its protective systems engaged. Master Starchaser and a small cadre of Jedi Knights, two Guardians and a Consular. He himself was a Watchman, if he was called anything, a Sentinel who became a Consular. The quest here, fact finding, but it was mixed bag. Cloning was important here, and that brought with it a particular conflict that Starchaser felt was inevitable.

“So, there was a treasure room? And you have reason to believe that some may remain?”
One Guardian, Knight Uki of Atrisia had asked. It brought a smirk to Coren’s face as he nodded.

Before he could respond, the Chiss Knight, the Consular, a former ‘skywalker,’ different than the legend, nodded. “ExplorCorps feels the late Palpatine was a wise one. There may be chambers we can uncover.” Her core name was Chore, but pronounced with a ‘sh’ sound.

“Correct, Chore.” Starchaser nodded.

“And of course, the cloning may bring Carnifex out of hiding.”
The Rodian Guardian said, Triigo. His blue-green skin glowing with the world. This brought a final nod from Coren.

“If something does go wrong, you all will report back, get the Shortfin and get off the world.”
His order wasn’t one that left room for interpretation. But the Jedi quartet continued to make their way, a hike in a way, from their secure landing zone out to Mount Tantiss.

No one questioned the parking job. It was far enough from Tantiss that if BDZ became the order of the day, well, it was away. And it gave them time to understand the world. Plus Porter, Starchaser’s faithful droid, was able to keep watch. Besides, all four of them were part of the ExplorCorps, and all three of the others volunteered, regardless of what Coren said with the Sith being on the world. Apparently they wanted to learn.

The hike wasn’t going to take long, but Coren insisted they do it with the least Force-assisted processes as possible.

"Revenge......"

It was a word that was used repeatedly by the Sith for generations, to retaliate against those who have harmed them. To take back what was stolen, each time the Jedi have destroyed the Sith, they have grown and evolved while the Jedi as always have become complacent. The Jedi assumed that once the Sith were destroyed peace will reign. While the Jedi were worthy foes, their arrogance blinds them as usual. The Sith is all about adapting and growing stronger. Angonous learned that lesson well since he was a child in this life it was either survive and thrive vs fail and die there was no middle ground. As long as a Sith Lord lives, the Sith will never be eradicated. The Jedi cling on to hope as their rallying cry but what use is hope when a long time enemy is once again nipping at their heels. The Jedi never get it you can't kill the Sith and now they will pay for their ignorance again.

"My apprentice," Angonous said placing on his Sith Armor just recently you and I were fugitives on the run. Now you and I have answered the call and will take part in this momentous occasion. Today is a statement, today we will show the Jedi that we have returned."

He clenched his fist. "We will take back what was ours, we will no longer hide in the shadows like a sniveling peasant. That time is over Sicarus! The mere sight of the Jedi is an assault on my honor as it should be yours! They will be destroyed, turned to pieces with the full might of the Dark Side! The anger swells inside of me. The Sith maybe outnumbered, outmatched but we have the Dark Side of the Force with rage in our hearts the moment we touch Wayward, the only thing on your mind should be......"

Angonous closed his eyes activating his Lightsaber. "Revenge."

"With all due respect boss, I think we're gonna need a raise." Alisteri paused, turning to look at the man that had spoken up. He was a mercenary, one of the dozen that he had hired for this little assignment. "To be fair, I did warn you before you took the job. However, I suppose I can offer you some form of extra compensation as...'hazard pay' if you wish." Several of the mercs nodded in agreement or looked at each other excitedly.

The masked man pulled a nearby crate towards the seating area, not that it was that far from the seats to begin with. The large shuttle that he had rented only had so much room after all, but he had already made plans for the extra seating that they would need. Unfortunately he hadn't had enough spare credits to rent a proper evacuation ship, nor a proper rear-guard for the evacuees, but it was too late to turn back now. They were already breaching the atmosphere of Wayland.

He understood their desire for extra pay, if he were in their situation then he would be as well. Already ships could be seen plunging towards the surface of the planet, most of them as indistinct as the fleet that they traveled with. There was also, of course, the inevitable sight of ships belonging to the Silver Jedi Concord descending towards the world below as well. What made the mercenaries most uneasy though, was the planet itself.

Already cracks and fissures could be seen from the outer edge of the atmosphere, the planet itself seeming to shudder and scar evermore with each passing minute. "You all remember what you're getting paid for. You are to guard this ship while we evacuate as many civilians as we can from the planet." The top of the crate finally came off, with him quick to delve within to fiddle with its contents. "Sir, while I respect the humanitarian effort and all, what exactly are we guarding the ship from? Can't intimidate an quake away now can we?"

The Acolyte laughed and shook his head. "Indeed. But we're not fighting an earthquake. Today my hired help, you're going to be killing monsters. Anything that comes into your range that seems to be a danger to us or the evacuees, you kill." Silence reigned in the shuttle, with the only the sound being of metal clicking together and then moved around from within the crate. "Uh...how exactly are we gonna kill these uh...'monsters', boss?" "Simple." The mercenary that had spoken quickly raised his hands and caught what his employer had thrown at him from the crate. A blaster rifle, military grade and in prime condition with full ammunition.

All the mercs turned from the gun to Alisteri, who was holding up two more rifles. "You don't stop shooting unless it's dead or you need to reload."

------------------------

The shuttle soon landed, the masked Sith leading the way down the ramp and into the small spaceport that they had landed at. It was just outside of a nearby city, and that was both a blessing and a curse. Alisteri turned back to watch the mercenaries as they followed him out of the ship, most inspecting or clutching onto their new rifles. He sincerely hoped that they wouldn't need them. "Alright. I'm going to go and try to steer people towards this space port. The shuttle can only carry about twenty passengers at a time. Meaning that the shuttle will be making multiple trips, if we're lucky. In between trips we will be holding here and fending off whatever is coming our way. Fortify this place as you wish, but turn no one away. Understood?"

Some of the mercs seemed to hold a level of fear, the trembling of the planet and the sight of smoke in the distance causing an understandable amount of concern. Some were far more composed, looking around for objects that could be used as barricades. Others had a look of grim determination, and one of them gave the Acolyte a nod as they all switched the safety off on their guns. "Understood."

With a final nod, and a small bow of respect, he set off and exited the spaceport as the mercenaries got to work. With creatures like Sofiel Sofiel running rampant, I hope that these mercs are good shots. For their own sakes, and for everyone else on this Force-forsaken planet. He idly rolled his shoulders and unsheathed his lightsaber from its concealment in his sleeve.

Onwards then, to the city.

An eyebrow arched as she regarded the commanding officer of the garrison and the surrounding soldiers' haggard appearances. Cut off when the Sith Empire fell, it was little wonder that the soldiers had turned to faith that their Dark Lord would return for them, to guide them back into the fold as a reward for protecting the mountain. She did have to fight to maintain her calm and icy composure and not roll her eyes at the display of supplication and fanaticism. Kaine always did like his worship.

"It always impressed me how quickly and utterly we wiped away the Australis stain on this planet," she said once the process of the two Kaine Zambranos continued into the fortress. Even the thought brought a small measure of rage bubbling to the surface, even after the Mandalorian clan had been wiped away from the galaxy, their patriarch decorating her residence as a statue formed from her dark sorcery. The fortress that guarded the vaults within had been constructed over the blasted remains of the Australis' final attempt to harm the Sith besieging them... it had not succeeded as they hoped.

"It is also good the deep vaults survived the blast. Australis never knew what he was sitting on," her tone turning slightly gloating. There was no telling what secrets and artifacts had been preserved deep down. The Worm and the Sith Eternal had only built upon what Palpatine had established here, and it was these she was interested in. Obtaining cloning technology that she already possessed was no something that would draw the Lady of Secrets to the world, although it did remind her to greenlight the next generation of cloning cylinder once she returned to the Core.

An ashen finger traced a hard line milled into the metal doors that blocked her passage further. Once the multiple layers of ash and dust crumbled away under her touch, it was easy to see the twin doors set into the obsidian-specked walls. The pale, blue light of the lantern made her shadow sharp as a razor and every imperfection on the surface of the wall that stretched high above them became a black pit.

From above, the faintest tips of stalactites hovered like fangs, dotted in black shards.

"Phrikite."

Her eyes closed as she focused, and the doors began to quiver, then violently shake. Dust trailed from the uneven walls around them as her head cocked to the side.

"I did not think so."

Darth Ophidia brought her hand back to her chin and stroked the tip where once a lightsaber had been too close.

Behind her, two companions waited: A masked humanoid and a lanky droid. She gestured to the droid first setting it to working on the lock, then gestured for the humanoid to double back and take watch. Meanwhile the pale Assassin followed the side of the wall along its curve. Her ashen finger hovered just over the slippery surface of polished rock, while her eyes stared up into the darkness above.

Brushing her robes aside, she lifted a foot and extended it to the slippery surface of the rock. Once it was placed, she lifted the other from the ground and felt gravity shift. Or it would, except the Sith Lord willed that it should not. She took another step, and another. Casually strolling up the side of the labyrinth's obsidian wall.

Above, the rock groaned and complained, wanting to break open and free so that its treasures could be revealed. Now and then, they had heard a cracking and groaning of the minerals here. They knew that any cave-in at this depth would be potentially life-threatening, and so they proceeded with caution.

The short-statured gunner moved with a precise, swift gait as she walked through the turadium-plated passageways of the Eternal Rule, set on a course towards the gun decks. In spite of their deliberately labyrinthine nature, designed in such a way to confuse boarding operations, KV-6000 knew her way around this area of the battlecruiser by instinct, having lived her entire life in the Rule, from the moment she stepped out of her vat to now. Not once had the gunner left the warship’s hallowed, imposing halls and she had only rarely thought of doing so, instead occupying her time with fervent prayer and training, the semi-cloistered life of a devout cultist.

She wanted for little else.

Faint whispers in ghoul-speak permeated across the Rule’s gun decks and other battle stations as the massive vessel translated into the system, the strand-casts and organic officers serving aboard the vessel maintaining an intensely focused discipline, driven by fanaticism and of dark sorcery. KV-6000 was no exception, her mind molded to serve His Eclipsing Mission in the same manner as the thousands of other strand-casts who had been created on the Eternal Rule.

However, KV-6000 sought to be the most devout, loyal, and productive servant of them all.

As she arrived in the mass driver gun decks, which had been briefly overwhelmed by Alliance Marines over Korriban before they were ultimately driven off the warship in closing stages of the battle, KV-6000 snapped to attention at the sight of the gunnery officer. Then, she sat down in her station, tapping a few inputs on the holographic screen as she inserted a plug into a port on the back of her neck. Before it could even click into place, a sudden deluge of data came over the gunner’s enhanced mind as she established her connection with the AQUILA, the hyper-intelligent AI feeding her large quantities of information for her to sift through as the mass drivers were brought to life. Energy flowed from the Rule’s Amaranth crystals to charge up the eight capital-grade guns under her control, the technician next to the gunner working quickly to calibrate the weapons’ systems.

“Battery S7 is active: systems are nominal and online.” KV-6000 said in soft ghoul-speak, upon receiving the confirmation from one of the technicians. “Ready to receive firing missions, Commander.”

“We’re still monitoring unidentified signatures in the system.” The Mirialan officer answered cooly.

“The heretics aren’t far.”

Heavy footfalls.

Spilled blood.

Warmongering savagery.

Violence, unfurled. Unhinged monsters.

Fear. Fear from the enemy, and fear from the locals.

Jace was no stranger to violence, to war, to it all. It only made it more difficult, but not impossible at times. The gnashing teeth of the beasts were descending towards his position, unaware of his nature. "Butchers" as they were known, came, claw and tooth towards Jace-

and Jace sharply removed his cloak, blinding one. And with a flash of blue light, marked his entrance to the fight. The Butchers stood little chance against a fully fledged Jedi Knight, let alone a Guardian like Jace. Jace let his lightsaber flow, cutting down the Butchers that approached him. He leapt into the air, striking an armored foot across the face of a Butcher, while simultaneously removing the head of another. He landed on the ground with a thud, leaving a trail of Butchers in his wake.

The world cracked and broke beneath him, but Jace stood alone for the moment, facing down a horde of Butchers. He leveled the blue blade at his face, and took up a Soresu stance, more of the beasts coming towards him, smelling the burnt flesh and spilled blood of their compatriots. He maintained his position, watching their ugly talons pierce the earth, eager to rend his flesh and rip him apart.

But Jace was determined above all else- from protecting the innocent, to preventing himself from being something's lunch.

Jace didn't move when they began to charge, and waited, his blade steady and poised...

“Revenge!”

Sicarius concurred with her Master. The Jedi had grown arrogant in their victory, in their power, in their desire for peace. The Jedi had grown foolish in their own surety. They had grown complacent. Assuring themselves that they were a major intergalactic power. Just like the Sith Empire had done before they fell. The Sith Empire had been wiped off the map, the remaining Sith themselves hunted down to the brink of extinction. It was not the first time the Sith had fallen. The infamous Darth Bane and the Rule of Two had allowed them to survive. The Sith were not their. Not yet anyway. The Sith may have been scattered but fortunately their remained a few. There were still enough Sith for that not to become a necessity.

The combination of being hunted and learning from the memory of Darth Bane, had ironically brought her and her Master together. Guided by the Force no doubt of that she was certain. At times it almost seemed the Force had a sense of humour.

This would be one of the first actions since the Fall, the beginnings of a renewal of the Sith. They would demonstrate to the pious self righteous Jedi, that they were not the only ones with the means to wield the Force, and unlike the Jedi they were not afraid of it’s power to use it to it’s fullest extent. Power even possibly to beat Death itself. Master Angonous had talked of famous Sith in the past who had become nigh on immortal with their power. Only loosing their life for their own foolishness, not the ravages of age. The Tragedy of Darth Plagious the Wise. Sicarius doubted it was a story the Jedi would tell to their own apprentices. The Sith would only need to use a fraction of such power to defeat their enemies, to reveal themselves and attain their Revenge.

Sicarius bowed her head in acquiesce to her Master.

“At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have our Revenge!”

The more they moved through the decrepit fortress, the more they discovered evidence of the gnawing madness that had taken root in the local garrison. They had taken to drawing ritualistic symbols on the walls in a variety of fluids that had since dried into a rigid paste. Several bodies were distributed throughout the rooms and halls, mutilated beyond comprehension, and used as shrines for the garrison's worship of the Sith.

The Dark Lords paid the spectacle little thought, quickly moving deeper and deeper into the sections that had been abandoned by the garrison. It was clear that the garrison had withdrawn to the summit in increments, giving up level after level as their numbers dwindled. Those levels bore fewer and fewer signs of madness as a result.

"Australis was little more than an irritant, the epitome of empty Mandalorian bravado." Demiurge then chimed in, "The Mandalorians could never comprehend true power, if they had realized what laid below the surface they would have squandered its gifts. It is well that the vaults remained locked and hidden until now to fall into our hands, as was always intended."

"A far greater prize than any realize," they said in unison, their ability to comprehend and anticipate the other only having grown stronger since their reunion. They were taking the first steps on the path to ultimate reunification, the recombination of the two halves into the single whole being. None could calculate when that would take place, but the earliest signs could be seen even now.

"The Jedi near, I sense our old adversary among them," Carnifex spoke directly to Taeli, the glimmer of understanding twinkling in his baleful eyes. "Perhaps the vault will be his tomb."

Padawan Aayla Shan hadn't been deployed directly with Omega Squad, however they shared the same objective. Aayla's job being to ensure the members of the Elite Unit were able to reach, and destroy their target to make way for the brunt of the invasion force. She wore an ivory ensemble, hardly hiding her affiliation, safe for the fact the large cream robes she wore over her clothes were currently hiding both sabers on her person. Stepping light through a narrow path of vegetation leading to a sheer cliff face.

With her head covered, she would simply observe the area, watching as they did what they did best.. She sleeveless poncho only doing enough to conceal her identity slightly, and expose the skin color of the individual wearing the clothes. There was one major discrepancy between their missions however. Aayla was intent on destroying any Sith Artifacts she found; which slowly but surely was starting to look like this entire site. As much as she should've hoped to redeem the Sith from their path, she just as well would've agreed to mulch them all from orbit.

Gears had long been turning in the young Jedi's mind. They were the kinds of thoughts that in the past had led to heaps of trouble... Not for her, but just in a general sense. And yet how could she not have them? She had taken recent losses within the Silver Jedi Concord hard, and to heart. Part of her was able to easily let this flow from her like water over stone. However, a part of Aayla she didn't often loose just wanted them to...

Feel It...

It would be fair to say her emotions were slightly out of body however. Her bond with the former Grand Padawan Kadan Scipora paved way for his own emotions to lightly blow against the embers that settled in her heart. It made their mission here carry that much more weight. To her anyway.

She had only felt it in wisps earlier, like smoke playing at the edge of her senses. This close however it was unmistakable. The Sith were scattered here. They weren't even hiding their presence. They were welcoming the fight.

There were many Force Signatures here on this day, and until now she had been masking her own; but with their allies as well beginning to make their moves, she saw no reason to not let her own light flare up. Albeit it seemed tainted with her mental state, it was clearly opposed to the Dark Side of the Force.

Her right hand rose to the communicator in her ear, verifying that Omega Squad had started their subterfuge. As such, now was the time for her to play her part within the scheme.

Aayla would remove the cream colored poncho and crouch, to fold and rest it on the ground; inhaling steadily, and exhaling the intent that haunted her.

"I never took Sith for the types to skulk about, least of all when they hold the advantage..."

The two Sith that had been stalking her up the path seemingly stepped from nowhere, a single saber activating audible to her; and yet given no reaction. Instead, she would finish folding her robes, and place gently on the ground before standing and regarding the pair.

'Well done, ready to die now Jedi?'

There was a snap-hiss from behind her person, eyes scanning between the two as the other Sith now activated his saber. Aayla adopted a form of Makashi, letting her left hand rest at the small of her back, balled into a fist. While her dominant saber hand was held at waist level, ready for their assault.

They came quickly, both striking at once. The Young Jedi used footwork to find the opposite side of one immediately, cutting off the other opponents angle, lest he chose to cut through his ally... However even if he chose not too, her quick parry of the closer opponents saber allowed her to press the point of her saber easily into his heart, a quick poke that resulted in his body jerking from the shock; ultimately falling dead on the spot. Then, she observed the other, who was looking over his downed compatriot, adopting the stance she had taken just a moment ago.

"Ready?"

She asked, the very question itself smug considering she had just killed his ally. Though fair, considering he had asked her something similar just moments ago.

He made his move, surprisingly skilled with his saber when the other wasn't there to halt his movement. That duel lasted seven separate strikes, and strokes. Ending with her chopping him in his throat, and running the saber across his mid-section in riposte.

The cut wasn't as deep as she would've intended it to be, having no interest in sparing those that had no interest in mercy. All the same, he fell to a knee, dropping his saber and looking up at her with shock. Growling a bit, before falling onto his back. Aayla would observe this, and turn on heel to step away before his voice was heard again. Somehow, he seemed almost... Was it pleading?

'No, Wait.... Come back.. You must finish it; don't leave me here to suffer'

He said, something she heard in full and was going to ignore completely, but would slow and look back to him. Shaking her head a few times dismissively.

"Pain can be a form of passion, its through that you lot gain your strength isn't it?"

Her shimmering silver hues dances against the rays of sun peaking through the trees, scoffing at him as he looked on in realization. As for her, she had a place to be; as such she would leave him there to suffer from his wounds. Moving away from him as he groaned in pain, something within her not able to pass up the last comment she had to explain herself.

"Coup De Grâce is not the Jedi way, friend.."

Were the last words that he would her from her as she made her way towards the Security Checkpoint that led into the Mountain Base. No doubt shortly Aien Mueller and his team would lose many eyes on them as Aayla braved the strongest parts of the enemies defenses alone.

(TL:DR Aayla has arrived near the mountain base, and engaged two Sith in combat, killing one, and leaving the other to his fate. She is currently drawing attention away from Omega Squad, while they do their part to drop the shield generator; Her current goal being to completely take over whatever security checkpoint the Mountain Base has. She isn't hiding herself figuratively, or literally. And is able to be sensed by any Force Users that are trained to do so)

There was little interaction between the members of Reek Squad and the Jedi Master sat in the corner of the shuttle as the small team landed on Wayland, for he was deep in meditation at the time. He knew Caltin well enough to make sure he was not interrupted by the rowdy Rangers, for to be so suddenly thrust back into the physical realm could prove disastrous. His mind had journeyed into the depths of the Force, to discern what perils await them all at such a storied site.

The Force was strong here, indeed.

A suffocating darkness surrounded the mountain containing powerful Sith artifacts, relics of a bygone age. To peer into such foulness could warp a lesser-honed mind, but by doing so Thurion felt a very familiar presence. A pitch-black void at the center of the dark shroud. His consciousness returned, his eyes opened.

"Kaine," the name barely escaped his lips. Mount Tantiss must indeed hold great power for the Black Iron Tyrant to appear in person. His presence alone informed Thurion this was no gathering of mere dark acolytes, and that they should expect greater security than initial reports had shown.

Once on the ground, the Lion King of Midvinter joined Master Vanagor and Reek Squad in their advance on the mountain vaults. He'd fought beside Caltin on numerous occasions by now, and knew his many qualities well. Donned in
black armour and the Sunlight Blade at his side, he kept a wary eye on that mountain becoming larger with each step.

"Carnifex is in those vaults," he suddenly spoke up, his words of warning intended for Caltin. "If he's here, it means the Sith are here in force. We must be very careful, and guard our minds well."

His gaze fell upon the squad of Rangers accompanying the pair of Jedi. He spoke softer.

"Be mindful of any odd behaviour. Their minds can be manipulated."
