Influences
¤ Asha Seren, the True Mother
There is not a day that goes by that Thurion does not spend at least a thought on the many important lessons imparted to him by this woman, Jedi Knight Asha Seren. After taking the orphaned boy on as her padawan, the two became inseparable as she instructed him on the nature of the Living Force, a philosophy he clings to wholeheartedly to this day. Eventually, the gracious Jedi would go so far as to officially adopt him, making her his master, mentor, and mother. It was her tragic death at the hands of Darth Carnifex that gave rise to their fateful rivalry and what propelled a teenaged Thurion to seek the stars on his own, with her voice guiding him every step of the way.
¤ Teynara Jeralyr, the Good Doctor
In the wake of the Great Schism, which divided the Jedi Order into splinter groups, a small but tight-knit group of prominent Jedi Masters calling themselves the Levantine Sanctum was born. Among them was Master Tey, a medical doctor and healer of great renown. After Asha's demise, she and her teachings became a source of comfort for the grief-stricken boy, and he soon found that his compassionate nature fit the role of a healer like a glove. Together, he and Master Tey were able to work out his heartache and turn the loss into something useful.
¤ Jaxton Ravos, the Master of Battle
Alongside his medical studies, Thurion was placed under the stern tutelage of Jedi Master Jaxton Ravos, a Zeltron and one of the greatest martial minds of his time. The training was gruelling, far removed from the comforts of studying under Master Asha. Jaxton was a ferocious warrior and a relentless instructor, schooling the boy in mastering his physical aspects: Strength, speed, agility, balance, and resilience. Thurion grew exponentially in both size and skill in the years to follow, with an impressive physique to show for it. Gone was the skinny orphan boy, and in his place, there now stood a man brimming with power.
¤ Thrand Dawnbringer, the Founding Father
The most fateful of all encounters was that of his long-lost father, Thrand Dawnbringer. Revealed to be a Prince in hiding, Thurion, alongside his then-fiancée Coci, would later aid his father in reclaiming the throne of Midvinter, his ancestral homeworld. From observing his father at work as the new High King, he took note of the many responsibilities and burdens of being a ruler and a leader of men. He was taught the ways of his people, their laws and customs and social norms. Embracing his heritage, Thurion became a true Son of Midvinter, endearing himself to the very people he would one day lead as King.
¤ Thyrian Hearthfire, the Brother-King
Having watched his brother perish in flames so long ago, the unlikely reunion of these two decades later was one of intense emotion. Old wounds were torn wide open only to be mended by their shared joy and relief, cementing their brotherhood once and for all. Thurion would go on to serve his older brother upon the tragic loss of their father Thrand as his right-hand man, his most trusted advisor, and his most skilled general. Together, the two brothers would reform and reorganise their homeworld, decentralising the Crown's responsibilities and ending clan warfare altogether. New alliances of long-forgotten fellow natives were struck, and Midvinter flourished like never before. Thyrian's eventual doom left Thurion with a kingdom in mourning, and he swore he would not let his father and brother's legacy fall to ruin.

Strengths & Weaknesses
Gentlest of Giants, Truest of Hearts
Given his immense size and strength, it is easy to feel intimidated by his presence. His physical size, however, is only outmatched by the size of his enormous heart and generous nature, ever striving to uplift others and spread joy wherever he goes. Even in his darkest hours, he will comfort others, as he believes acts of kindness are the greatest weapon one can wield against any darkness.
Defier of the Dark, Light of the Radiant Sun
Through his many bouts with servants of darkness, be they followers of Bogan, horrific monstrosities, or demons of ancient origin, the Heavenshield stands defiant against all threats with the might of mountains and an unshakable will. To stand beside him on the battlefield is to feel invincible, capable of taking on anything. To stand against him is to crumble into dust, their souls banished by his light.
The Lion King, Golden and Resplendent
He is the Lion King, sovereign ruler of Midvinter and head of House Heavenshield. His leadership skills are the stuff of legend, and his statesmanship is without equal. Earning his people's love and loyalty through honourable deeds and decisive action, he is a paragon of leading by example. There is no end to his accolades; each one earned through sacrifice and great toil.
Walker of Winters, Justice of the Force
As a side-effect of having walked the hallowed grounds of the Wellspring of Life itself and the fateful clash that followed, Thurion is named Justice of the Force - imbued by the souls of the unjustly slain with the power to appear where he is needed to dispense justice to the vilest of villains and desecrators of the dead. When called, the Lion answers with a vengeance.
Patriarch of the Lion's Pride, Father of All
Thurion is crowned High King of Midvinter
A loving husband and father-of-many, arguably Thurion's greatest strength and weakness comes from his tightly-knit family. It is affectionately said his foremost skills lie not with the sword or the sceptre but with the stroller, as evidenced by his many descendants, all of whom revere the King of the Pride.
The Horns of Battle Sound and the Lion Answers
Now settled on Midvinter after many years of galactic service, Thurion devotes his time to caring for his family, leading his people, and safeguarding his homeworld. Still, whenever the Galaxy needs him, he will answer, arriving like a champion of old summoned from the mists of legend.
Code of Chivalry, a Relic of the Old World
Considered an outdated concept by many, this one adheres to the forgotten ideals of gallantry, honour, generosity, and courtesy. Generally soft-spoken towards women and boisterous towards men, his ways are those of ancient nobility long absent from the greater galaxy.
Defender of the Weak, Champion of the Downtrodden
Having grown up an orphan, Thurion holds a special fondness for unfortunate souls and children of all ages and will go to any lengths to defend them.
Heavy of Heart, Drowning in a Sea of Sorrows
From his first breath, Thurion has been cursed to watch loved ones wither and die around him. His mother and father, his brother, the woman who raised him, as well as the countless friends and companions of his youth, are all gone, leaving him with only bittersweet memories. However, the greatest loss of all still looms on the horizon, as does the knowledge that hers will be what finally breaks him.
Battle-hardened, a Veteran of Countless Conflicts
A peerless warrior and a master tactician, the Lion has seen more war and death than most living souls. Despite his martial mind being sharpened to perfection after many decades, every horrific violent act leaves its scars. There are times when the trauma becomes unbearable, threatening to cause permanent harm to his psyche. Only the soothing presence of his beloved Coci will prevent the nightmares from overtaking him.
Only in Death Does Duty End
Despite many attempts at a life of peace, fate has seen it fit to foil him at every turn by placing new duties upon his shoulders, each more demanding than the last. Now the ruler of an entire world, Thurion's strong sense of duty prevents him from seeking that increasingly elusive peace he's sought all his life.

Thurion Heavenshield
A Brief Introduction

What can be said about Thurion Heavenshield? I have never witnessed a man so immensely admired, deeply respected, and greatly loved by the people around him. There are many stories about his life and legendary achievements, most of which are probably rooted in fiction more so than fact. This writer intends to provide the truth about the man they call the Golden Lion. To me and my brothers, he was always just Papa.

It is easy to forget that the man so intrinsically associated with the snow-covered homeworld of the Valkyri was not born here, but rather on another world entirely. Pelagon is its name, but I cannot recall my father ever referring to it as home. No, even then he knew his heart and spirit belonged to another. They belonged to Midvinter, and once he and I long ago happened upon this world and, indeed, learned of his true heritage, there was never any doubt that he was always meant to make a life here and leave the quarrels of the greater galaxy well enough alone.

My father was unlike any other man I've ever known. Throughout his lifetime, he wholeheartedly adhered to his interpretation of the Jedi Code, shunning the old notion of love being a wholly corruptive emotion. "True love," he said, "will only ever bring out the best in you." He loved my mother dearly, as she did him, and whenever seen together they had this effect where suddenly everything in the world made sense. It is this writer's strong opinion that no two people have ever been so absolutely and definitively meant to be together.

But the first thing that comes to mind whenever I think of him is how incredibly kindhearted he was. He was never given a childhood, brought into the world as an orphan, and I think it had a profound effect on him. Much of that young boy lived on in him over the years, coming out as little childish mannerisms if one knew to look for them. He took such joy in the simple pleasures life had to offer, and no matter how old he got you could still see traces of that boy hiding behind every wrinkle and scar. He was also deeply concerned that we, his children, would not be deprived of our childhood growing up as he had all those years ago on Pelagon.

No doubt you have at one point or another been told some grand tale of his legendary skill in battle, riding atop his trusty Gryphon Skywalker brandishing his sword and shield as he charges into the fray, unafraid and undefeated. Such tales never mention the countless scars imprinted upon his body and soul, breaking him down over time as horrific images haunted him each night. But his spirit never faltered, for the love he felt for Midvinter drove him ever onwards. It was his unyielding will to defend his people and strength of character that made him such a symbol of hope for man, woman, and child. He has become the ideal to strive towards.

I miss him.

Thurion and Coci on honeymoon

Titles & Honorifics:
The Lion King:
They call him the 'Lion King'; a military commander without equal, a statesman unmatched, and a paragon of virtue. Beloved by his people, feared by his enemies, but respected by all, Thurion has earned his legendary status through endless hardship and great personal suffering and carries the scars to prove it.
Justice of the Force
In shattering the blade of Derriphan whilst facing the Butcher King at the heart of the Wellspring of Life itself, the Lion released the thousands of souls caged within, allowing countless murdered victims to find eternal rest. For his achievement, Thurion is named 'Justice of the Force', regularly summoned onto battlefields to seek out any desecrators of the dead and avenge the unjustly slain so that they may be granted peace.
The Golden Lion:
Referring to the sigil of his House, the first Heavenshield represents the bravery, nobility, and might of the proud feline roaming the lands to the west. Thurion is a gentle giant to his allies: kind, caring, and compassionate. To his enemies, the Lion is a beast in the shape of a man; a whirlwind of destruction, terrible and ferocious.
Defier of the Dark:
First proving himself at the end of the Valkyri Civil War, Thurion has since partaken in every conflict the planet has faced, becoming its foremost champion. He has led Midvinter to victory countless times, even at great personal cost, and has stood toe-to-toe with the worst foes and foulest creatures imaginable.
Anarion:
Meaning 'Son of Sunlight', the name was bestowed upon him by the Aelvar as he drew the reforged sword of the same name. While the Elves owe no allegiance to the King of Men, he is hailed as a highly respected leader and diplomat, having prophesied an epic destiny for the Descendant of Dawn.
Healer of Woes:
It is said among his people that the slightest touch from the King will close wounds and mend broken spirits. While his skills in the arts of healing are great, it is more likely owed to his unwavering compassion for his fellow man and ability to lift spirits. His people look to him for courage and guidance, and he freely gives of himself every time.
High King of Midvinter:
Thurion is the current ruler of Midvinter, following the heroic sacrificial death of his beloved brother Thyrian. It is a weight he carries reluctantly and with much humility, further burdened by the crushing loss of those who wore the crown before it fell to him. He will bear it until his passing, or until he is no longer deemed worthy of the honour.
Warden of the West:
Along with his ambitious restructuring of the Realm, Thyrian the Uniter named four Wardens tasked with supervising each province known as 'Marks'. Thurion was named Warden of Westmark, effectively granting him the governorship of the entire western territories.
Lord of Heavenheim:
Hoping to retire early from public life after the devastating loss of his father, Thurion and his wife settled down by the western shores of Midvinter where they intended to live out their lives in peace. Their heroic presence inadvertently drew many followers, and within a few years, a humble cabin turned into a full-blown city. He was officially bestowed Lordship by his brother Thyrian, the new High King.
Thane of Midvinter:
An honorific meaning 'guardian', the title was bestowed upon him and his family by his father High King Thrand.
Silver Jedi Grandmaster:
Chosen to lead the Silver Jedi after the untimely death of his predecessor, Thurion led the Order in its golden age against the forces of darkness, Sith or otherwise. Although he has long since stepped down from the role, focusing his efforts on his homeworld and his family, the title of Grandmaster still follows him whenever revisiting parts of the galaxy that still remember the name of Heavenshield.

Ship & Special Equipment
SH-LS-78 Winter Eagle 'Oathkeeper':
Thurion's private ship was passed onto him by fellow Levantine Sanctum founding member Seydon of Arda Seydon of Arda after his old vessel was shot down over Midvinter. This new ship is faster and leaner than its predecessor, allowing for more versatility and options in a tight spot.
R2-T2 Astromech Droid:
A commonly used astromech model gifted to him by his wife Coci, Teetoo is a constant member aboard his ship, the Oathkeeper, and is often trusted with navigating and maintaining the vessel.
Lightsaber:
Constructed by his hand upon reaching the rank of Jedi Knight, Thurion has in the many years since made additions to it in the form of various symbols in spirit with his Valkyri heritage. The words etched into the hilt in ancient Runian loosely translate into "Lion King", referring to the title bestowed unto him by his people. Ever accompanying this lightsaber hilt is a piece of cloth tied around its pommel, torn from the robes of Thurion's deceased mentor Asha Seren to serve as his one keepsake of the woman who raised him.
Anarion:
During his defeat at the hands of the Dark Goddess Gríma Hagraven, the ancient sword known as Snowfall was shattered into several pieces and was subsequently laid to rest in Averlorn. That blade has now been re-forged into Anarion - the Sunlight Blade, vastly more powerful than its predecessor and capable of felling the most terrible beings it faces.
The Heavenshield:
The Shield of Heaven itself, forged by Valkyri and Beorni hands and infused with the light side of the Force, is an incredibly potent piece of protection and a powerful Jedi artefact. It answers only to Thurion until the day he either dies or falls to darkness and can extend its protective aura to surrounding allies.
Golden Lion Armour:
Received as a gift from his older brother Thyrian while serving under him, this suit of armour of black phrik plates, known as star metal to the Valkyri, has protected him throughout his duty to Midvinter and beyond, and yet retains its pristine appearance.
Skywalker:
The powerful and regal Midvinter gryphon, named after Thurion's childhood hero, can be called upon to aid his companion in battle with great fury and might.
Morningstar:
A mighty war steed gifted to him from the master horsemen of the South, the pure-white golden-maned stallion is as tough and durable as his rider and serves as a more mundane mode of transportation to the Lion King.

Your bio, experiences and family lore are literally 9,000 times more than mine. I have approximately no friends, less than ten threads I've ever been in, less than a year of age development, and extremely vague family. Your rps alone took me over six mins to read.
