  NAME​

  
  If there is one trait to her personality that defines Taeli, that is her thirst for knowledge. She is a bookworm, plain and simple, and has a drive to learn as much as she can about any subject that happens to catch her fancy. She is highly intelligent, with a firm grasp on how to navigate delicate situations as called for. However, this drive for knowledge can be an issue as she will let her curiosity get the best of her sometimes, for good or ill, and she might wind up in situations she may have otherwise avoided.
  
  For those she cares about, she will go above and beyond to make sure they are happy. Before their disappearances, she was utterly devoted to the sisters of her birth family and to her adopted parents. When her sisters disappeared, and her adopted parents were accidentally murdered at her own hands, Taeli developed a fear of abandonment that even now, with a loving wife and two daughters, still lingers. Her trust that people will stay with her has been shaken, and to that end, she tends to keep track of her loved ones' movements, whether they know it or not.
  
  When she was among the Jedi of the Republic and Galactic Alliance, Taeli presented a kind and quietly charming veneer to any that approached her. Given her life experiences, and her knowledge base, she was always happy to provide advice or training to Padawans or give quiet counsel during meetings with her fellow Masters. She displayed all of the serene traits a senior member of the Jedi Order should present, especially in this age of warfare, eventually leading to her placement on the Jedi Council and appointment as Grand Marshal upon Omai Rhen's death.
  
  However, underneath that kindly façade the Jedi saw was a much darker personality and thoughts. She is a cunning and utterly ruthless Sith Lady, an ardent believer in the ideals of Imperialism and the Sith beliefs. In her pursuit of knowledge, morals and little things like ethics are not something she considers during her experiments. To others, she can present a detached persona that belies the raging furnace she uses to fuel her command of the Dark Side. That anger can burst forth when she is denied a piece of knowledge or if someone endangers her family, to extreme and brutal ends.

[Taeli Raaf]

Early Life (816 ABY to 838 ABY)

Born on Corellia to Myri and Nejaa Raaf in 816 ABY, the newly born and named Taeli was unfortunately put up for adoption. Her parents, newly married and struggling through university, loved her with everything they had but they could barely support themselves, let alone a newborn baby. The baby Raaf was adopted by a couple on Lorrd named Melarna and Jakon Rae, but before she was sent offworld, Myri recorded a message in a holo-locket for when the girl was old enough so she could be reunited with her biological parents. The Raes loved their new daughter, however, they decided to conceal the locket as they reasoned they could provide the newborn with all the love she needed.

As she grew older, Taeli was encouraged to learn as much as she could be her parents. Growing up on Lorrd, with Jakon being a professor of Galactic History at the University of Lorrd, the little girl was surrounded by books and knowledge to devour. Melarna, a Mandalorian that had left the Creed for a quieter life, also taught Taeli how to defend herself as she knew how dangerous the galaxy could be. The result was a vivacious and independent child and teenager that was a favorite of her teachers, although she could be reserved and tended to have only a few close friends. It was not uncommon for Taeli to spend hours reading or studying in the libraries that littered Lorrd City, with many of the librarians and researchers recognizing and encouraging the purple eyed girl to pursue her academics even harder.

Taeli did allow herself a few activities outside of her academic studies, such as acting, swimming, but most importantly to her, fencing. Fencing was her favorite physical activity and her mother taught her many of the techniques she had learned during her time with the Mandalorian warriors in sword fighting. By the time she left high school for university, Taeli had graduated top of her class and led the school fencing team.

Entering the University of Lorrd, Taeli decided to pursue Galactic History and Linguistics with a secondary focus on Political Analysis. The bookworm was mature for age, foregoing the usual exuberant activities of her fellow college students with a quietly concealed disdain. She had little patience for those that she felt were squandering their educations on what she viewed as unnecessary silliness. However, she still allowed herself some fun such as participating and leading the University's fencing team to planetary and sector championships and a few short relationships that she knew were never going to progress further.

Taeli always felt there was something... more waiting for her, that there was something that further separated her from her fellow students, and a chance meeting during her junior year started her thoughts and path towards her inevitable destiny. In 837 ABY, the Sith Empire had collapsed and the Kanz sector had begun an outreach program with other galactic powers to come visit their fabled world of knowledge, including a group from the Silver Jedi Order. One of the Silver delegation was a young Jedi Padawan named Connor Harrison, someone that Taeli would have an on and off again relationship, of various degrees, over the coming years although they would not realize they had met previously. At this moment though, Connor encountered the young woman in the library and piqued her interest into the Force and started the nagging suspicion in her mind that she herself was Force Sensitive.

That suspicion was ultimately confirmed on one of the most fateful days of her life. Graduating in 838 ABY, Taeli had been accepted for an advanced doctorate course at the University of Ralltiir and was preparing for her journey to the world when she was ambushed in an alley by three of her former students and teammates on the fencing team. Kar Jarnik had been embarrassed by Taeli multiple times in practices and had been jealous that she had been team captain while he had been shunned by his family for his perceived failure. In revenge, he and his best friends decided to teach the purple eyes young woman a lesson, restraining her and preparing to have some fun with her. In her anger, despair, panic, her latent Force Sensitivity flared to life in a dark surge of power. Unable to control the power radiating from her, and lost within the rush of the dark side, Taeli brutally killed her attackers, saving Kar for last and butchering him with his own blade.

When the rage ended, Taeli was horrified by what she had done, but also at the fact she had liked the power she had temporarily felt. Vulnerable at that moment, her unleashing of the dark side had attracted attention. The Sith Lady Balaya Zambrano, also known as Darth Praelior, had secretly been visiting Lorrd and sensed what Taeli had done, Dispatching a Sith familiar to find the source of dark side power, she found Taeli and had her follow the familiar to the Zeltron Sith. She offered to teach Taeli how to harness the dark side of the Force and a place as her Sith apprentice, and realizing this was fate, Taeli accepted and departed Lorrd with the Sith to begin her dark education.

Serving the One Sith (838 ABY to 844 ABY)

While the Sith Empire in the Outer Rim had collapsed, remnants of the organization had banded together with a mysterious Dark Lord of the Sith concealed in the Deep Core and had launched an offensive into the Core against the Galactic Republic. Coruscant had fallen to the Sith offensive, becoming the new capital of the reformed One Sith, and it was here that Praelior as a Voice of the Dark Lord brought Taeli to begin her training. Balaya was a harsh teacher, immediately throwing Taeli into several life threatening situations such as fighting against a terentatek and being sent into the Undercity to hunt an adolescent Sith Leviathan to gain one of its blister pods. Balaya wanted to see if Taeli was worth her continued attention and training, but the young Sith Acolyte proved her worth and began assisting Balaya in her Sith Alchemy experiments, beginning Taeli's fascination with the more mystical arts of the Sith.

It was also during this early part of her training that Taeli obtained the company then known as Krayt Industries from Darth Banshee, a Sith that had betrayed the One Sith Empire. Through the running of Krayt, Taeli became acquainted with the woman Alexandra Feanor, a former student of Praelior's that had shifted towards the Gray Path.

Taeli swiftly was promoted to the rank of Sith Knight, and to show her devotion to the Sith, she redoubled her efforts in her studies and her support for the One Sith military excursions. During this time, Taeli recruited her first apprentice, a young Jedi Padawan named Sophie Gustav, turning the girl to the dark side and a loyal student to the young woman. Two more apprentices would follow, a young Chiss woman and a member of the same species as the legendary Jedi Master Yoda known as Minna, all the while she continued to assist in the fight against the Republic.

Prior to the Battles of Kashyyyk and Prakith, Taeli was promoted to the ranks of the Sith Lords and Ladies, taking the name Darth Arcanix. It was during the Republic's counterattack on Prakith that Taeli, unknowingly, rescued her youngest sister, Melori, from a shipwreck on the planet's surface. Fate clearly had plans for the Sith Lady as not long after that incident, she traveled back to Lorrd to see her parents for the first time in several years. The resulting confrontation left both Raes dead, their house destroyed, and a very distraught Taeli discovering the locket Myri made for her. Rushing to Corellia to meet her birth parents, she arrived only in time to discover they had been assassinated by a bounty hunter searching for her sister Corvus. Corvus had discovered Taeli's existence and had traveled to Lorrd to only find the destroyed house, but the sisters were able to make contact and bond.

Returning to Coruscant, Taeli took Melori on as her newest apprentice, bonding with her youngest sister and giving her advanced lessons as she knew that Melori needed to become powerful swiftly to protect both herself and Taeli from rivals. By 844 ABY, Taeli had grown to be a respected member of the One Sith and it was then the Netherworld Incident began. Taeli was among those dragged into the beyond, and not wanting to linger, she was able to escape from one of the various rifts opening across the galaxy. With the galaxy in turmoil, only the stability and order of the Sith could stop the chaos and she assisted them in numerous lightning expansions throughout the Core Worlds and the Colonies.

All this time, she had been meeting occasionally with Corvus, building the sisterly bond and trust that only remaining family could forge, even if they were on opposite sides of a war. Taeli recognized that in these meetings was a unique opportunity to infiltrate the Jedi and Republic, while also becoming closer with her sister, and so she approached the Eye of the Dark Lord, Darth Isolda, and the Wrath of the Dark Lord, Reverance. A secret plan only known among these three Sith initially was formed where Taeli would seemingly repent her dark ways and join the Jedi while she quietly gathered intelligence on the Republic. Taeli developed a new method of the False Light Aura by utilizing her Sith tattoos given to her by Balaya as an anchor for the spell, while containing and concealing her true aura and powers within the markings. For all intents and purposes, Taeli could make herself as pure as any Jedi of the modern era.

Meeting Corvus on Ruusan, she pretended to break down and accept the light side of the Force, expressing her wish to join the Jedi. However, she couldn't leave the Sith immediately as Melori, quickly rising through the ranks, would need protected from her supposed defection. Taeli began subtly moving her power base out of Sith space, establishing her Order of Shadows on Valrar as a place to secretly continue her own experiments. Krayt Industries was renamed to Aurora Industries, its corporate headquarters moving to Erilnar in the Centrality, far enough away from the One Sith to avoid reprisals. Once all her preparations were complete, Taeli left the Sith, claiming to be going on a journey to learn more about other Force orders in the galaxy, beginning her deception.
