SETTING INFORMATION
  • Mine Name: Rizûti Kûts, the Black Death - The Foundry
  • Material:
  • Location: Mandalore
  • Affiliation: The Sith Empire
  • Size: Massive
  • Population: Heavily Staffed
  • Profit: High
  • Accessibility: The Foundry is accessible only to high-ranking members of the Sith Empire's military, administration, and Brotherhood of the Sith. Those found trespassing on Foundry grounds without the proper access clearance are subjected to the highest level of corporal punishment, typically immediately after being apprehended.
  • Description: Built over a massive vein of Beskar, the Foundry is one of the Sith Empire's largest ore refineries on all of Mandalore. It rises high over the blasted wasteland, constructed out of dark durasteel and weathered turadium, an utterly foreign monolith to cruelty, barbarism, and the Sith's twisted will to dominate everything they lord over. Black acrid smoke billows perpetually from skyscraper-tall smokestacks, blanketing the land in choking smog that smothers the sky and blots out the warming rays of the sun. The land around the Foundry has been systematically flattened for kilometers around, offering no cover to any approaching army that would attempt to besiege the refinery from the ground. A system of aboveground and belowground rails allow swift transit of both men and materials from the Foundry to other nearby Sith-Imperial facilities on Mandalore, creating a complex network that the Sith use to exploit all of Mandalore's resources.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Workshop: The main entrance to the Foundry is a massive multi-level workshop complex where all of the mined beskar ore is assembled and transported to the forges by heavy-weight lifts and chutes.
  • Slagworks: Situated at the lower levels of the Foundry are the slagworks, a catch-all name for the combination of beskar mines and collection areas where the mined beskar is accumulated, stored, and later shipped off to other sections of the Foundry.
  • Depository: A series of massive storehouses where the mined beskar ore is kept safe until it's needed.
  • Blast Furnace: A specialized machine worked by both astute mechanics and mystical Kro Var shapers, utilizing living flame to breathe life into the Foundry's many forges and crucibles.
  • Forges: Here is where the mined beskar ore is heated, melted and reshaped by learned smiths into usable items that are later assembled on massive assembly lines.
  • Manufacturing Plant: Gargantuan rows of assembly lines reshape the processed beskar into weapons, armor, and other materials to be put to use in the Sith-Imperial war machine. The conveyor belts are closely guarded and watched by Imperial overseers to circumvent sabotage by the unruly population of Mandalore.
  • Shipping Assembly: From here the finished beskar products are packaged and shipped to other corners of the Sith Empire, massive convoys leaving Mandalore will full bellies of precious beskar cargo.
  • Rail Terminus: The Foundry is connected to other installations of its kind by aboveground and underground trams, miles and miles of rail that stretch across Mandalore's deserts and forests.
  • Hangars: Built into cliff walls and mountain slopes are hangar bays tall and wide enough to store several squadrons of starfighters, varying from strike craft to gunboats and everything in between. When not in use, the mouths of these cavernous hangars are covered by ray-shielded turadium blast doors, which can be opened and closed from the hangar flight control booth located in a protected observation platform above the flight deck.
  • Assembly Areas: Gargantuan underground caverns of durasteel and permacrete, these huge expansions are large enough to fit an army's worth of vehicles and troops in rigid assembly formation in preparation for deployment. Several chasms cordoned by turadium doors enable dropships and transports to move between the assembly areas and the surface.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

When the sky ran red with the fury of the Sith, Mandalore fell.
The land was scarred by brutal conflict, hundreds of thousands of tonnes of ordnance levied against the defending armies and fortifications, dozens of capital ships plummeting to their doom from a raging battle that choked the atmosphere with carnage. As the dust settled, the Sith Empire emerged victorious over the scarred and bone-laden wastes.
Gluttonous greed spurned the Empire to exploit Mandalore viciously, terrible machines cracking and tearing open the earth to extract vast quantities of Mandalorian Iron from deep below the planet's crust. Dozens of massive city-sized foundries were constructed to provide a channel through which the harvested Beskar ore could be collected, refined, shaped, and then shipped off to the wider Empire.
Rizûti Kûts, known informally as the Foundry, was one of the largest the Sith constructed and was built over a massive open vein somewhere in Mandalore's Northern hemisphere. Overseen by Guvaith Rook, the Foundry made use of thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of enslaved sentients shipped in from across the galaxy via the Sith Empire's vast slave trade network. These slaves were put to work in grueling conditions, often working themselves to death many kilometers below the surface as they hacked away at the copious veins of Mandalorian Iron.
Those that died under the brutal whip of the Sith did not go to waste, for their bodies were collected and recycled in room-sized molecular furnaces to further fuel the Empire's mining operation.

Submission moved to pre-codex as per writer request.

Please remember to include a list of changes when you tag a member of codex staff to move the submission back to live judgement.

Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex

Greetings! This is a very detailed and overall extremely solid submission. I can see that the TSE definitely wants to keep ahold of that sweet, sweet Mandalorian Iron. Thank you for the permissions for the Corondex items. There are just a couple of easy notes:

1.) Under "Image Credit" Please add a link to Angelos Karderinis Art Station to provide credit for the use of his image. It's linked as an example of the Smaller Turbolaser Towers.
2,) As Guvaith Rook is the one overseeing the mine and he does have an NPC Submission you may wish to link him if it is still valid.
That's all. Tag me when you're ready and thanks!
