OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a new, fun, and overly hungry Sithspawn to Eclipse the Light™.
  • Image Credit: Here / "Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor Concept Art" by Daryl Mandryk
  • Canon: N/A
  • Links:
    Graug
  • Rancor

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Graunk
  • Designation: Semi-Sentient
  • Homeworld: Belkadan
  • Language: N/A. Grunts, growls, and roars.
  • Average Lifespan: 10 Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: Cross between Graug and Rancor. Armored, tough, and hungry. Often used as mounts or siege beasts.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average height of adults: 9-14m
  • Average length of adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Brown, pale green, or grey.
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Very, very similar and appearance and stature to your typical Rancor. However, the Graunk possess a prominent jaw that sports whiskers. Dark, beady eyes rest within deep sockets with tattered ears framing a small head. Four-fingered claws fit for grasping or crushing, and two powerful legs that can propel the beast at great speeds.
  • Races:
Bull Graunk: Much larger, angrier, and tougher than your average. Typically, that's the only real difference between it and your average Graunk. Temperaments may vary but most sport an alpha mentality.

[*]Strengths:
  • [+] Tough: These things are heavy hitters. Their armored plating is comparable to quality six or seven armors and can take a massive beating before they go down. Strength is equally as effective and can crush, throw, or tear their prey asunder.
  • [+] Tamable: Due to their creation and innate attraction towards the dark side of the Force, Graunk can be easily tamed by those trained in such dark arts. It's even been said that some of the strongest and smartest Graut have been able to tame and mount these monsters.
  • [+] Tools: Graunk are clever beasts. Once tamed, they can be taught how to wield weapons. Oftentimes they're used as siege beasts, with catapults mounted on them full of explosives - or even giving them overly large handheld weapons like tree trunks or metal rods.

[*]Weaknesses:
  • [-] Balance: They're fairly top heavy, and their legs are nowhere the size of the normal rancor's. They can run at a comparable speed but they're easily tripped or thrown off balance.
  • [-] Eyesight: Every single specimen of this species is near-sighted. Getting up close and personal is their best way of hunting down prey or enemies, but it's quite hard for Graunk to differentiate friends or foes over greater distances. Using ranged weaponry, if taught, would mean that all fire from them would be largely inaccurate.
  • [-] Chaotic: Trying to control these monsters in the heat of battle is quite difficult. They're even reputed to even consume their own riders or friendly infantry around it. Only the most skilled tamers around can keep their mount focused and directed in combat.
  • [-] Lightside: Similarly to their smaller cousins, the Graut, the Graunk are extremely susceptible to direct application of the light side of the Force. Uses of it, with Force Light in particular, will debilitate these great monsters.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivorous. Feeding them anything else will make them gravely ill.
  • Communication: Verbal, through grunts, growls, and roars.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: They're apex predators. Hunting big game and all other sorts of life on Belkadan is what they do. As creatures built for killing, they do just that very well.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

What happens when you take one of the galaxy's strongest predators and combine it with a species full of violent, dark creatures? You get the Graunk. Stemming from both Graug and Rancor genetic code along with a heaping dose of alchemical tampering from the Sith, this bad boy made its appearance in the galaxy not too long ago.

Much like their smaller sentient cousins, the Graut, the Graunk were created by the Sith to be the ultimate beasts of war. Their life spent on Belkadan went swimmingly. They fed, mated, and lived life exactly like their rancor ancestors did. However, that simple little lifestyle of theirs was forever changed when much of the population was swiftly whisked from the world by elite tamers to be tamed and trained to wage war against the enemies of the Sith.

And thus, they fit their role quite well.

Once tamed, what type of weapons are the Graunk capable of wielding? All weapons in general, provided they are of a size the Graunk can wield? Or, can they be trained in any weapon sized to them?

Since they already have great strength and armoured plating similar to quality 6 - 7 armour, I recommend limiting their weapon usage to melee only.

Additionally, I'm going to ask you to source your images as outlined in this guide. Which in this case should look like this :) :

Think LoTR with trolls and catapults on their backs to be used as living artillery. Melee weapons are nothing special. Whatever they grab, be it a tree or a giant metal support beam from a building. Nothing overly sophisticated or complex.
