DESCRIPTION

The Guard Protection (GP) Series droid or simply referred to as Akguza Guards are a droid design that can trace its roots back to an old predecessor series, the IG-100 Series or better known as Magna Guards. Akguza Guards typically function as bodyguard droid units for high profile targets or whoever they are assigned to. Akguza Guards are highly acrobatic droids, capable of performing feats on par with assassin droids/commando droids/Magnaguards. They're high reaction times mixed with combat programming allow for the anticipation of attacks and proper counters/blocks.

The Akguza Guards is primarily built from duranium, sturdy in construction and design to make it difficult to harm them. Akguza Guards do not possess photoreceptors, but instead, rely on an advanced sensor suite housed inside their torso that can provide a 360 field of vision to the droid so that it can anticipate attacks from any and all angles. This allows Akguza Guards to maintain tactical awareness of their surroundings at all times and move to protect accordingly.

Like sparring pads, the Akguza Guards houses a number of shield emitters along its limbs that can project a shield in response to weapons such as lightsabers or blasters to block and deflect them. The emitters work on a proximity basis, switching on when either of said forms of weaponry come into proximity of an emitter to conserve as much power. This provides the Akguza Guards an effective tool in handling opponents that may try to take advantage of the Akguza Guard's purely melee focused combat nature.

Akguza Guards are armed with a set of highly conductive blades that are equipped to its shins and housed inside its forearms. These blades can channel heat to melt through flesh and bone as well as lightly armored targets and are its primary means of neutralizing/killing a target. It utilizes its arms and legs as its primary means of combat that is paired with their fighting style. They are typically also equipped with telescoping electrostaffs as an external weapon.

The most prominent feature however of the Akguza Guard is its adaptive programming paired with its ability to utilize Teras Kasi. The longer a droid is engaged in combat without experiencing total loss of structural integrity, the more it learns about its opponent and the way they fight. This makes the Akguza Guard particularly dangerous to lightsaber wielding opponents, especially lesser trained ones.

Outside of their practical purposes as a bodyguard, Akguza Guards make excellent sparring partners, being able to emulate the fighting styles of past opponents, assuming they have not suffered complete destruction in said battle. Though they are able to retain a fighting style, they regularly have their memory wiped in order to retain as minimal combat data to not be hindered by past experiences. Only those that have been retired for permanent sparring purposes are left with their memories intact.

Akguza Guards are typically assigned to protect important installations or VIPs within the Sith Empire, and can be dispatched to accompany Sith Lords, typically in pairs.

Strengths:
  • The Akguza Guards are built with an excellent range of motion, being able to perfectly imitate organic movement despite their weight and construction. This allows them to perform such martial combat like Teras Kasi.
  • An average Akguza Guard has heightened reflexes and reaction times compared to an average human, almost at par with an adult Kyuzo. This allows adequate reaction and response to attacks by those gifted with Force Sensitivity.
  • Akguza Guards learn more about their opponent's fighting style through continued combat, making them especially dangerous if they do not suffer total destruction and cease to function altogether. They learn and adapt to better counter their opponents.
  • Akguza Guards are a vast improvement to the old Magnaguard design, built off its core principles as an effective bodyguard. Its improved programming and construction make them much more efficient in dealing with lightsaber users.
Weaknesses:
  • Akguza Guards are designed as personal bodyguards, meaning that they are focused as exclusively melee combatants. This leaves them to use only the weapons installed on their body, their actual body, or whatever melee weapon they are given.
  • While Akguza Guards have adequate protection covering a majority of its limbs, the joint areas are wide open. A well-placed shot or slash will be able to cut through its parts and render it ineffective or entirely useless.
  • Like any droid, Akguza Guards are vulnerable to the effects of Mechu Duru and can be manipulated by the Force Power, though likely to an inferior degree unless the controller is a master of Mechu Duru.
  • While programmed in the use of Teras Kasi, they are still vulnerable to lightsaber strikes to unprotected areas. A single swing is usually enough to cleave right through them.

Are you suggesting that each of these droids has an enhanced AI that can adapt and counter tactics in combat?

Because if so, then this makes this more along the line of the restricted material AI. Simple droid brains are one thing, advanced AI is another.

IG-Series droids had a habit of being able to adapt to situations they were in. The wookiepedia article on which I based the Akguza Guards off of are Magnaguards, which were outfitted with advanced combat learning programs. They were also able to learn and combat the seven lightsaber forms based off of training done with Grievous. It was why they were effective against lightsaber users in combat. I offset them permanently being able to learn and counter by having to have their memory banks erased on a regular basis so that they don't end up becoming know-all, fight-all droids which is something an advanced AI would probably be capable of.

In a simple way of phrasing what I mean by adapt and counter it might go along the lines of 'The opponent likes to lunge and go for stabs; counter by sidestep followed with a block and strike' or 'Opponent is aggressive; counter with defense and wait for opening to strike'
