DESCRIPTION

The SE-K9 "Fang" was developed by the Sith Empire as a supplement to its organic armed forces; a droid unit that served as the forefront vanguard to mitigate the incoming attacks of enemies. Fang's are able to lift a considerable amount of weight in each hand, the Vanguard variants able to lift both the heavy Durasteel towershield along with the weapons they are issued. Each Fang variant has unique properties and weapons, and are not interchangeable after they are built.

The Fang droid is built with the usual weakness of droids in mind, which is to ion weaponry and anything typically used to completely shut down a droid. Though they are still susceptible to ion weapons, the limited shielding they possess allows for them to be no more than immobilized in place until their systems are back to functional order.

Fang droids are typically deployed in small 'packs' of about six. Droid racks equipped to transports or vehicles are able to deploy two Fangs at a time every five or six seconds until they have all been deployed. Specialized Fangs that are equipped with non-standard loadouts are typically deployed alongside the standard unit but only in pairs at most.

Strengths:
  • [Beast of Burden] | Fangs are able to carry much heavier loads than the average soldier within the Sith Empire, up to eighty more kilograms without significant impact to their movement speed. They are capable of both handling a rifle and a heavy durasteel tower shield without sacrificing the effectiveness of either.
  • [Walking Tank] | Most standard Fang units are heavily plated in duranium, making most blaster weaponry less effective unless focused or aimed at exposed joints/areas. Their 'brain' is encased in a reinforced shell that resides within its head unit, hidden behind a transparisteel viewport that protects its mono-eye. Vanguard units equipped with Durasteel shields are significantly tankier than its other variants.
Weaknesses:
  • [Chink in the Armor] | Despite being fairly heavily plated in duranium, there are areas where armor plating was sacrificed to allow for freedom of motion. As such, a well-placed shot could temporarily disable the joint or disable it entirely.
  • [Poke the Eye] | When the transparisteel viewport is cracked/damaged to the point where it interferes with the Fang's ability to use its optics properly, it will open up its head to see clearly. The exposed mono-eye is very fragile and a shot would not only blind it entirely but quite possibly damage the 'brain' of the Fang and disable it.
  • [Chip Off] | Fang droids that aren't equipped with the Vanguard loadout are typically lightly armored despite having heavier weaponry such as rocket launchers or sniper rifles. Therefore they are not as durable as standard Fang units.
  • [Sole Purpose] | While the Fang droid is designed to be a multi-purpose unit, that does not mean that they are capable of operating interchangeably on the field. Each Fang unit is specially programmed, built, and outfitted for a specialized purpose on the battlefield, the only time it is able to change is when its coding and equipment is modified off the field.
