If Jerek noticed how indifferent Jaeson seemed to his caution about their purpose, he didn't give much outward indication of it. Trust wasn't the issue at hand, though the choice of the other boy to stick together did gain him some. The youthful Jedi inclined his head, motioning for the Starchaser to lead the way. There was no indication of which direction was the better one for them, so Jerek simply followed and kept his senses open.

The catacombs were chilling enough from their construction alone, coupled with the imposing darkside and the constant risk of being discovered made them downright terrifying. Jerek's small presence in the Force kept him only minimally aware of what might be lurking out beyond, forcing him to use his body's senses and his own mind instead. Apprehension clouded his mind, turning long shadows into sinister portals to dimensions unknown. Errant sounds were the dreaded footsteps of a Sith Librarian come to protect his horde. His eye caught on a shape as he passed a corridor, surely spelling the beginning of the end for them.

But there was nothing there with them down in the catacombs. Yet.

When the pair arrived at a door, Jaeson set right to work. Jerek marveled at the Starchaser boy's engineering aptitude, sometimes it took everything he had just to diagnose an issue with his Flashdance. He was lucky to have Jaeson with him. No, not luck. The Force had guided them together for a reason, however much Jerek begrudged its wisdom in this particular instance. Given the choice, he would have selected almost anyone else than this younger copy of Damian Starchaser, whom he still didn't believe Jaeson wasn't acquainted with.

Access was granted with a swoosh, ushering them into an ante-chamber filled with shelves of books. More waited beyond, stretching on into the distance of the vaulted, underground chamber. The sight of it must have impressed Jaeson, who uttered a surprised, "You lived here?"

"No, this structure is new. Though I'm starting to wonder if it wasn't built on something Jedi before it. The Jedi Academy was kilometers from here, though, before the First Order destroyed it. There's nothing left of it to visit," Jerek said mournfully. He dismissed the feeling almost at once, he had spent enough time mourning the world of his youth already. Now it was time to redeem it as he could.

Jerek took in one of the bookshelves, scanning its titles quickly. Some of these tomes were familiar to him only from the reverence with which Micah had spoken of them. Ancient prophecies, spellbooks, alchemy, these works were some of the most treasured secrets of the Sith. He could imagine the kit's murderous eyes judging him from afar as he stepped away, however, moving on to examine something else.

Jedi artifacts, that's what Jerek was here for. He left the library behind, wandering out into the larger chamber filled with the treasures of the Sith Empire. Treasures he hoped would soon fall into the hands of the liberating Jedi when they came. For now, the erstwhile padawan would content himself with rescuing one or two of the Jedi treasures that he feared would not survive any re-conquest or re-patriation to some world deeper behind the Crimson Curtain.

He dared to open himself up more to the Force, reaching out to find that quiet presence of Jedi artifacts. He happened upon a box full of lightsabers for Jedi younglings, extracting one that looked quite similar to his own. A light smile came over his face at the thought, but then returned it. Lightsabers could be rebuilt, so he moved on.

Something drew him to a corner of the room, near a cluster of displays holding the hilts of fallen Sith Masters. Beneath the monuments to the battles which claimed the lives of their hilt owners, Jerek found a container and pulled it out. It felt warm to the touch, and he felt an anticipation inside him. As if he was a youngling again, his outlook of the future so bright and unending, the possibilities before him endless. The feeling was odd, he hadn't felt that way in years, nor tried to remember that idyllic outlook on his own. Perhaps something inside the container had re-opened that childish yearning in him again.

Lifting off the cover, Jerek revealed a single object inside the container. It was far too physically small for the vessel which held it, yet all the same it was amusing that the Sith had tried to contain such a thing within such a small container. Reaching in, the teen felt five years younger again, using two hands to cradle an object which suddenly seemed much too large for his one. As he withdrew it, he felt a calm, deep voice resonating within him, speaking to him with words he had not heard for a lifetime.

"Quiet does not become you, Jerek. Speak your words, they are your greatest weapon and your strongest defense."

"Master Beck?" Jerek nearly dropped the holocron in his hand. The voice was gone, if it had ever been there in the first place. The teen stared at the holocron, holding it nestled in the palms of his two hands. There was a knowing, and a sureness of it, that he was holding the holocron of his first Jedi Master. It wasn't the Jedi treasure he was expecting to find, but of all of them here, it was the most valuable to him.

"Time to go," Jerek announced to Jaeson has he reached the other boy, clapping the Starchaser on the shoulder with a free hand. Whatever Jaeson had taken for himself as loot, he only hoped that there was something that qualified for museum display. The thought of some Jedi artifact going on the black market for credits didn't sit well. None of it compared to what he had found, Jerek was almost certain, but he didn't say that. Instead, he gave Jaeson a grin and remarked, "The Jedi Order appreciates your time and donations."

He had nearly reached the library ante-chamber again when Jerek stopped in his tracks. Standing in their path to return were several figures. These were no Sith Lords or librarians or even their assistants. Instead, the grey-skinned figures looked more like corpses, imbued with cybernetics implanted in their dessicated flesh. Holding an array of weapons, their purpose against the pair was clear.

"We've got company, Jae." With a sigh, Jerek turned to Jaeson and tossed him Master Beck's Holocron, hoping he would see it again after the confrontation was over. Unhooking his lightsaber, the Jedi youth held it in his ready pose, activating the green blade as he prepared to defend them. "When you see an opening, go! I'll hold them off."

Amidst the backdrop of echoing blaster fire, the warriors began their dance. Their duel was rhythmic, in a way. Two artists expressing themselves in a way that only the field of battle could illuminate. Cato made no moves at first, only shifting his body in response to his opponent. A parry here, and feint there. He was patient. He would let them wear out first. But the commando showed no signs of relenting. His strikes were blinding, to one without the Force guiding them, they would have succumbed to his flurry long ago. In a moment of hesitance, Cato stumbled back, but not far enough. The commando swiped his knife just across the cheek. Cato touched his face, a streak of blood already spilling down to his chin, the cut barely visible if not for the thin red line that marked him.

Finally Cato pushed back. His movements were more dangerous and erratic, bringing him closer to the weapon that had very nearly filleted him just moments ago. But he continued his counterattack, beating down on the commando with force enhanced strikes, battering and denting pieces of armor across his figure. Before long he began to adjust, coming around with return strikes of his own. The fight evolved into a brutal melee, both sides refusing to give the other a chance to back down. The maneuvered back towards the door frame, where out of the corner of his eye Cato saw Risen, injured. “Oh, man…”

The commando charged him with a heavy plunging attack, to which Cato flicked his attention back and countered, swinging his forearm upward and striking the commando’s wrist, putting enough force in it to make him drop the vibroknife. He was, however, not so easily stopped. The commando caught the falling dagger with his free hand, and in a single fluid motion, he spun the blade forward, the metal tip sinking into Cato’s flesh.

He had never actually been stabbed with a vibroweapon before. The generator that powered the knife made it far more effective than your standard blades. It didn’t seem possible that it could so easily pass through, like he was just made of butter. It was a clean wound, but deep. Blood began to gush out and stain his clothes in a matter of moments. The commando gripped him by the coat, pinning Cato to the wall and he slowly drew the knife closer to his throat. Cato didn't put up much of a fight. He was tired. Fight after fight had sucked the energy out of him. Though if he had to have guessed, he probably would have gotten killed by the two Sith rather than the single glorified trooper. Funny how things worked out. Maybe he could blame it on how tired he was. Surely if Cato was at full strength he would’ve won. Maybe Naria would fall for that excuse.

Oh.

Naria.

Cato’s drooping eyelids flung wide open, and he looked to see Risen fall. Dying. Dead? He couldn’t have that. That would leave his sister without her favorite goon. And it would leave Centin without his master. So soon after they’d lost Tarish. Not another. Not if he could help it. He didn't want to know what it would do to his sister. Ironically he didn’t really think to consider what his own demise would mean. But something kicked in at that moment. The commando readied his blade for the coup de grace, when a flash of searing white passed by, Cato’s saber pinning into the wall, and in the process severing the commando’s arm, which dropped lifelessly to the floor. As soon as his feet landed, Cato grappled his opponent, spinning around and slamming his head down hard into the broken console next to them. A burst of sparks and light exploded from the faulty wirings and systems, electrocuting the commando until he was well and thoroughly fried. Smoke began to waft off the corpse, and Cato let it fall to the ground below.

“Risen…” He mumbled, taking a single step forward before slipping in his own blood. Cato teetered to the floor, slumping up against the wall and gripping tightly at his abdomen. A folly attempt to staunch the flow, the dark red slowly but steadily pooling underneath. “Risen…Just hang on...” More of the soldiers moved into the room, aiming their weapons at him and Risen, but holding their fire. For now. The flashlights lighting the barrels now directed right at him made it hard to look at any one thing in particular, his gaze distant and confused as he tried to comprehend his surroundings. A limp smirk dragged across Cato’s face, now pale and ghostly from the loss of blood. “Hey, guys…”

The mental order went out from Naria Harth, making Farrina double check before closing the offending door and making haste down the hall. The others were gathered there, a sense of anger and anticipation coming from that direction as her senses alerted her to a presence from her flanking position. The hood did not give away her noticing the presence. One could hide in themselves in the force, could mask their visual presence, even bend light to trick the eye.

But smell was a dead giveaway when noticed.

The exchange was brief, the lightsaber wielding sith not expecting the second lightsaber the woman produced with a flourish. The hood covered her still as another door opened to the troop of enemies. A flicker of remorse crossed her face, a waste of lives against the focused attention of the knights that swarmed them now. There was a moment of silence from the group she had surprised.

"Now!" She bellowed out, an order for them all.

She heard the order, hood covering her face as their helmets looking her over with confusion as her blades flickered and shimmered. Farrina surged forward, leaning into the group of troopers as both blades swept wide and caught the majority ahead of her. A few stepped back, only to catch the backswing of the sabers as she pushed her body against the falling corpse of a trooper and seemed to dance with it. The pair spun, a mad light display of blaster fire angled at her with no avail.

The armor both wore acted as a sponge for it. The twin sun colored blades spinning and connecting as screams were made before silence reinged shortly after. She pushed forward, her presence in the force no longer hidden as she focused on getting to the others. On washing away the feelings of pain, anguish, and foreboding peace she was catching whispers of in the force.

the citizens of this world are kept out of the conflict.

"Our world. Our citizens," Kadann called back.

As arrogant as Darth Prazutis Darth Prazutis had said they would be. The presumption that they could come here and dictate what the citizens of the Sith Empire could -and could not - do.

Kadann let his cleaver hang at his side, the blade resting against the flagstones. He pulled the comm from his belt and held it up.

"Need fireteam support where I am. Silver soldiers trying to make away with our people. Leave the jedi to me."

There were no words for the one who called back to him. His answer came in action. The comm went back to his belt, he hefted his cleaver up and he began slow and purposeful strides towards her.

The alert of imminent danger through the force came too little too late. The first shot hitting Coci in the back just below the shoulder blade, forcing her forward stumbling slightly, the second hit grazing her shoulder had come quickly after the first, and made her stumbling again and turned her to the right. Her armour had held up, able to take the blaster without injury but regardless, she felt the heat of pain running down her arm.

With the sound of the shot still ringing in her ears, Coci forced strength to her legs and jumped straight up as the third shot passed beneath her and hit the wall of a building at the end of the street. As she landed, her blue saber was in her hand and standing ready to face whoever was attacking. She expected that eventually Sith patrols would come this way, maybe the recon droid had detected her presence. Or if it didn’t, gun fire in the streets would certainly draw attention.

In the distance, Coci could hear the shuttles landing and soon enough people would be evacuated. But the shuttles had not gone undetected, barking orders drifted down the street from others close by. There were troops enough to be able to deal with any attacks, but their main mission was to get the people out. Some would resist evacuation, others would not, their paths were their own to take.

She rolled her shoulder ridding herself of the last of the pain and stood her ground in the middle of the street. Whether this assailant was Sith or not did not concern her, Coci main objective now was to gain time for the evacuation, if this person was trying to prevent that, if this was what this person was trying to achieve. If not .. they were standing in her way.

Whatever was about to be thrown at her next, Coci was ready for it now. A grin curled the corner of his mouth, for even second that ticked by the more valuable time passed.

Caden looked at Amani.

He wondered what she was dealing with, the demons in her own mind. He wished he could make it all end for her, make all of her suffering go away with a click of his fingers. Unfortunately internalized suffering didn't work like that, he was just a prime example.

Caden listened to her screams, her begging. He listened to her beg for it to all stop, for someone to make it stop. Every instinct in his body wanted to reach out and grab her, yet the despair and anger he could feel from the girl stopped him.

Then she dealt an absolute. She warned him, it was his last chance. She warned him that she didn't have a choice. Her eyes flicked between the natural teal and the Sith yellow, the yellow of corruption that meant that someone had truly fallen from grace.

"I can't just leave you Amani. Everyone has a choice. You need to return to Kashyyyk with me, we can discuss the rest there. You don't have much of a choice unfortunately"

He adjusted his
Jedi Robes and allowed his fingers to close around the cool metal of the lightsaber, just to be safe. He hoped he wouldn't need to use the blade but it was calming to know that he had it next to him just to be safe, encase things went south.

With his back turned to the monstrous soldier he thought he had killed, allowed it to get the drop on him as it lunged at him, tackling him to the ground and forcing him to drop his lightsaber as a result. Twisting his body round, the Jedi Knight would come face to face with the creature as it mutated in front of him - it was horrible, looking as if it was stuck between life and death, sentience and mindlessness but despite all that, he couldn't help but feel pity... hoping these weren't living beings once.

Cas covered his face as best he could as the creature bit and scratched at him, tearing his clothes and skin - it managed to get a lucky hit in, scratching at the side of his right cheek which would now probably leave a permanent scar. Amid the commotion, he heard the roars of the others which meant this was an isolated incident. With the injuries he sustained, he was beginning to grow exhausted and the fact that these creatures were now mutating into something worse was nearly enough to break his spirit.

But it wasn't quite gone yet, continuing to cover his face as his arms were basically shredded up by the Death soldier, Cas closed his eyes and focused on his connection to the Living Force. Lifting his lightsaber up into the air with the Force, he ignited it telepathically before launching the blade through the creature's neck and effectively decapitating it. The creature fell on top of Cas, limp but he summoned his dwindling strength and pushed it off of him "I'd recommend trying not to lose your head, metaphorically speaking, but... that ship's sailed." he quipped breathlessly as he picked up his lightsaber and got up to his feet. Panting heavily he turned toward the crashed starfighter that he hoped had flattened Darth Insatious - but of course, life loved to test him.

He deliberated, glancing over at the Rangers struggling against the rejuvenated Death soldiers "I'm so tired..." he muttered to himself. His back was severely cut, his sleeves were torn, his organic arm was cut to hell and his cybernetic arm's casing was damaged - things weren't looking good for him. But he refused to quit.

Then a primal yell caught his attention, turning to where the sound came from he saw the commanding officer as if he had entered some kind of berseker rage. He was holding something small and spherical but he couldn't make it out as he was too far away, charging through the Death soldiers that stood in his way, he rushed directly toward Insatious before wrapping his arms around the Dark Lord's waist attempting to tackle him and engage the Sith head-on. "He's going to get himself killed..." Cas thought, swiftly he focused on the Light of the Force and channelled its energy into himself in order to boost his valor. With that, he rushed to the commanding officer's aid.

Everyone has a choice...

...You don't have much of a choice unfortunately.

The blatant irony of Caden’s statement was not lost on Amani. In fact, it hit her like a ton of bricks. She had an epiphany, like her eyes were suddenly opened to the reality of the entire situation. Caden’s fingers passed over the hilt of his weapon. Is that really what the Jedi sounded like? What she sounded like? Maybe the Jedi weren’t the paragons of peace she had thought all her life. Maybe. He spoke with unabashed hypocrisy, only further amplified by the show of a weapon.

Amani reacted instinctively, not risking the chance for him to strike first. She swung around and threw her arm out, attempting to throw him back with a powerful Force wave. “I’m not going anywhere, Caden.” The thoughts running through her mind only became more muddled, blurring the line between what she was feeling, and why she was doing this all in the first place.

The reason.

Amani shook her head. She couldn’t lose it now. But it was all the same, she needed to prove she was Sith to him, even if deep down she wasn’t. Her cover demanded it. They needed to believe it. Amani took her staff from her behind her back, holding it out in front of her and extending the haft to its full length. From the end, a blinding burst of crimson ignited into a blade. “I’m right where I need to be.”

Undoubtedly the slum dwellers - or most Voss in general - disliked the Sith. Sith, even the more rational ones, were evil tyrants. Evacuating the downtrodden was noble, but there were a few factors to consider. Such operations required careful planning. It was best to plan them with local leaders of the people one intended to help in advance, rather than merely swooping in - especially when there was a battle going on. The poor tended to be distrustful of authority, no matter whether it was represented by Sith or Jedi. After all, the slums had already existed during the latter's reign.

A number of downtrodden would doubtless take the chance, but it would probably not be a horde charging towards the shuttles right now. Gunfire aside, the arrival of a large number of transport craft was hardly subtle, so while Coci's initial infiltration had gone unnoticed, the shuttles had not. The fact that Sith attack craft would probably be moving in to intercept the transports was probably on the mind of the locals. After all, Sith were not concerned about collateral damage.

Enyo saw the shuttles and, since Silver Concord troops did not swarm out, could surmise that this was probably some sort of evacuation operation. Her expression remained emotionless, for she was indifferent as to whether the Jedi managed to succeed in this quest or not. Her focus was on her quarry. The Jedi had taken blows from the first two rounds, but managed to mitigate the damage due to her agility and armour. However, while she drew her lightsabre, she did not strike. In doing so, she yielded the initiative to Enyo. The Terminatrix was not the type to exchange banter or speechify about the dark side and all that. The average Sith already had that covered.

She could fire again or draw her own blade and charge the Jedi. But she pulled upon the tangled web of power that was Force. Its energies flowed through her and she focused them upon a shuttle flying overhead. Enyo was not, as she was capable of admitting, as strong in the Force as her template. Not that it mattered - she would remain untouched by mortality when Siobhan was old, frail and bed-ridden. But the same metaphorical fire burnt inside her and it was this flame she tapped into.

She wrapped her telekinetic willpower around the craft. The wings twisted with a very loud crunch. The shuttle jerked. Try as the stalwart pilot might, he could not escape the invisible giant's hand. It began to rip just a bit. Those inside were holding on for dear life, as they threatened to fall out and plummet to earth. Enyo called upon her power and flung the shuttle towards the Jedi.

The boy recalled his knowledge of the building’s layout and crawled through the vents, intent on heading towards the hallway opposite of where the initial troopers had come from. He knew more would come from the opposite side and they would need some sort of escape. Eventually he found his exit and, using the red saber once again to cut through a metal covering, emerged into an empty corridor. Sensing he had already wasted too much time in the vents, the padawan began to race through the halls, chasing the dissipating sounds of blaster fire.

He rounded a corner and found himself staring at the back of a mob of troopers. At the moment they seemed to be preoccupied blasting into what Centin presumed was the security room.

Now’s my chance.

Wielding the Sith weapon he charged into their midst and began dispatching the rearguard with ease. Before long he garnered the attention of the remainder, the initial surprise of his attack having worn off. Blaster fire rained down on him, forcing him to alternate between brief periods of offense and elongated spans of defense.

Just a bit longer. He coaxed himself onwards despite his rapidly tiring state. Any moment now Risen and Cato will break through from the other side.

His faith in the knights carried him further than his endurance normally allowed, but it wasn’t a miracle cure that could save him from the exhaustion he was fighting. A good portion of his stamina was depleted from the duel he had only a short while prior and the remnants drained rapidly.

A blaster bolt breached his defensive flourish and raked across his shoulder. The bolt’s impact caused him to lose his grip on the lightsaber, the hilt flying from his hand and skidding into a sea of troopers.

Where are they?

He reached for the vibroblade at his side and drew it recklessly, determined to continue his stand until he couldn’t move. Then he caught a glimpse inside the security room. Through a gap between the imperial forces he saw his master and Cato lying on the floor, badly wounded and surrounded.

The sight caused his will to crumple and the blade dropped from his hand. Metal clanged and the reverberations filled the silent hallway. A circle of blasters surrounded the boy who stood there unmoving, head hanging towards the floor.

Jerek had priorities and Jae had his. Like a kid in a candy store he began to dart from bookcase to display and wall grabbing anything and everything he could find that was small enough to transport and valuable. The haphazard nature of it was enough to make his head explode, he should have been more careful, more analytic, and yet there was a pressing urgency a danger that he could feel inside of him. Jaeson hated the force.

With his bag full he looked around one last time. This place would be a warzone maybe soon, and all of this might be destroyed. A sorrowful melancholic state took over him as he started toward the exit. Was it money and wealth being lost that made him feel this way or the potential for the lost history and knowledge contained in this room. Jaeson knew the answer even if he refused to acknowledge it. He’d been spending too much time with the Jedi.

That feeling of dread that had kept him on edge and in a hurry suddenly came to full realization when Jerek stopped in front of him.

Jaeson ran into the other youths back before stumbling and opening his mouth to make a nasty little comment, that was until Jerek made the comment about running.

“Please,” Jaeson said stepping forward. “This hero act really won’t pass muster at all.”

Stepping forward he pulled his papers out and presented them in front of him with his left hand. His right hand was gripping at the blaster behind his back covered from view. “I am Jaeson Starchaser, a sovereign citizen of the Sith Empire with a full license for archeological study and research accredited by the University of Rudrig, Tion Hegemony.”

His thumb rotated the cylinder of the canister gun from a blaster bolt to a flechette round as he prepared for the worse.

The Death Soldier seemed to release its final breath when Cas decapitated the soldier. A scream one of the Silver Ranger was overwhelmed by one of the Death Soldiers as the monstrous soldier mangled and disfigured the poor guy into a bloody corpse.

Completely focused on Cas, the sudden tackle from the commanding officer, managed him to get to Insatious before the Sith Lord could counter the man. However, despite the commanding officer's surprise tackle, it still wasn't enough to knock the Lord of Hunger down and ended up being a wrestle between them.

Insatious was furious, no, he was beyond furious and it showed in how little he cared. With both arms wrapped around the Sith Lord, holding tightly, he cried out to Cas: “Get my men out alive, Tynen!”. Realizing too late what was about to happen, the Sith Lord reached out a hand at Cas, placing a powerful force grip on the Jedi Knight. Jedi Knight Cas would then feel, against his best effort was been pulled violently over to Insatious as a last effort to kill Cas.

A large fiery explosion ignited around Insatious, causing the Sith Lord to release a gruelling and eerie cry of eldritch horror as the explosion engulfed him and the Officer. With less than half the number of Silver Ranger left, they finally managed to finish off the last of the Death Squad's monster soldiers, though many with bad wounds to loss of limbs and needed medical aid and cybernetics for replacement.

Despite the sacrifice and direct hit from a thermal detonator, from within the flames, rose a black shadow, slowly. One of the more lucky Rangers, holding his broken arm, hoppled beside Cas, "orders Master Jedi?" Asked the Ranger, looking at Cas with his only working eye. Another Ranger "we got to move or half of what is left of our team will die of blood loss! We did our mission, let's get out of here and away from that... thing!" expressed the Ranger, carrying one of the other Rangers with his lower leg blown off with bacta as the only thing keeping him from death.

The black shadow turned to look at Cas and what remained of the Silver Rangers, as well as the death of the Death Squad. A familiar eldritch voice filled Cas' mind; "Cassss, I will find you, no matter where you hide. No matter where you run. I will hunt you to the ends of the universe. Your energy will be miiiine". Then the shadow walked out of the dying flames, showing a half torn robe, soaked in blood. Insatious, almost dragging his foot behind him and pulled something else along. The commanding Officer's dead body.

Suddenly the body started to grow thinner, mass disappeared and the skin turned ashen grey. It wouldn't take Cas long to realize that Insatious was literally feeding on the remaining remnant of a dead man's life force.

Large red hands wrapped easily around her wrists, forcing Yula’s own hands upwards and angling the third shot into the ceiling. The blaster slipped from her grasp and clattered to the floor.

Pinned against the wall by a much larger woman, Yula’s squirming was cut short as the pureblood got in close. The vibrato of her voice, curling at the edge of a snarl was indeed intimidating, but it also ignited another feeling within the Zeltron. Heat blossomed across her face, a deep magenta against the pink of her skin.

Ohgodohgodohgod-

Typically, Yula’s experience with this sort of situation saw her to be the one making demands. Usually with more leather. The tables had turned, apparently.

Exhaling a shaky breath, Yula swallowed thickly. “Y-yes ma’am.” She made no move to squirm out of the Sith’s grasp, thoroughly captivated.

“I’m s-sorry, Mistress.”

Beltran stood at the edge of the dust cloud, his dual yellow blades burning as brightly as his presence in the Force. He watched closely, trying to make out the shapes of bodies moving within the particulate. That Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim had not come out to face him told Beltran that he had succeeded at least in making her rethink a full out fight with them.

Smart. He thought. When the tide of battle turns against you, change the battlefield.

He silently cursed himself for choosing not to wear his helmet. It's scanners would have made tracking both his ally and his enemy a simple matter. But you couldn't predict everything and there was nothing to be gained by lamenting choices after they had been made. Instead, he waited, breathing in slowly and relaxing himself.

Nothing would be served by charging headlong into the cloud. He would have to trust that Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion knew what he was doing. The Jedi was young, but he'd acquitted himself well thus far. He would have to handle himself until such time that an opening presented itself for the Lorrdian to re-engage.

As he waited, the dust began to swirl-slowly at first and then a little faster. Through the moving cloud, Beltran caught split-second glimpses, flashes really, of the two silhouetted bodies as they moved about. It wasn't yet enough for him to tell who was who, so he waited. A patient predator, waiting for his prey to expose herself.

Then it all happened at once. Mathieu's presence reappeared. A split second later, his blue saber ignited and it swung. Through the moving dust, Beltran quickly honed in on the figure that wasn't his ally. That wasn't much, but it was enough for Beltran to go. Even as the young Jedi followed through on his swing, Beltran burst forward in a dash.

He closed the distance on the shadow and leapt at her. When he was about a meter away from the shadowy figure he would jump into the air, performing a flying kick and hoping to take the woman in the torso and knock her to the ground. Regardless of whether he landed this kick, Beltran would land gracefully on his feet and without hestitation continue move against the not Mathieu figure, striking fast and hard with his saber pike.

His goal was to overwhelm her and put her on the defensive. With any luck, the ferocity of his attack would cause her concentration to lapse and the dust cloud to drop. Then he would be able to push the attack and, hopefully, land the blow that ended this fight.

Sabaton – Rise of Evil

The cat mouse game continued between Ingrid and her two opponents. She felt it when the Jedi reappeared in the Force. She didn't know why he had done all this, perhaps because the soldier hadn't accidentally attacked him instead of the woman. But it didn't matter so much. On the sensors she saw that the soldier stopped he was not moving, just waiting, didn't even turn his head. He seemed to be entrusting things to the Jedi.

But when the woman tried to stab, the Jedi activated the lightsaber and knocked one of Ingrid's blades aside. There was no problem here yet, she was ready to attack the other when the soldier arrived. Plus, from above. For her, both the Force and the sensors were there to help her at the moment, but the swirling dust was also quite eloquent. Luckily, the place wasn’t affected by much air movement, so only the dust could break down when they were moving.

Because she wanted to make the stab, Beltran's kick hit the woman on her side, who was still in motion, so she flew a good meter and a half or two after the kick and fell to the ground. The man managed to accomplish more than force the woman to defend herself. After arriving, she continued to roll and bounced off the ground. Now again, several meters apart separated her from the two men. Due to the movement, the dust became thinner in some places and denser in others.

Beltran was wrong that the dust had to be maintained, it would fall off by itself and sit down if there was no movement. Ingrid just left things to physics, to the fact that the air here stood enough and there wasn't much air movement. If it does, the whole thing will change faster and in minutes probably most of the dust will get back to the ground anyway, only staying where they are. But now, until that happens, she wants to do one more thing.

If all is true, the two men were close enough at the moment and the woman wanted to take advantage of that. She reached out to the Force again, trying to use telekinetics again, but this time only enough to drag the two men with it to spit each other up with the lightsabers and kill each other in the wake of the accident.

Power

A smile making its way onto his features, Adrian's telepathic reply was perhaps not what Ingrid had hoped for. <A Darksider among the Silver Jedi? How fascinating - and I can turn into a Voss if need be, remember. I know a few Mystics that would play along to boot, I passed their trial after all.>

He would need to pull himself for his trance for that to work, of course, but he had every confidence that the Karza'Arana would hold the line.

Nothing more to be done on Voss, his attention returned to the quartet of Reforged staring at the trespassers, whether through eyes or sensors.

"G... g... gch." Attempts at forcing a proper word, let alone a sentence, out of the cyberzombie's tortured vocal cords falling flat, Adrian projected his will into the rightmost one, its eyes glowing a soft blue as a telepathic presence smoother than silk gently intruded upon the intruders.

<Good for you, Mr. Starchaser. Such licenses permitting open access to restricted Sith property in the company of Jedi, why, that's news to me.>

Telepathic tone somehow communicating a sense of sarcasm most dry, the Reforged took a step forward as one, the one under Adrian's direct control hefting a powerful-looking mace, its dead, partially-cybernetic, features twisting into a disturbing mockery of a smile.

<If you would you be so kind to follow these pawns, I think I would like to see your license in person.>

It was fortunate that Beltran's kick came when it did, for it seemed to have saved him from a continued attack by their sneaky foe. He let out a short "Thanks!" whilst his eyes tried to track where the woman went. Much of the dust had started to settle down after having been carried by his whirl for some time. But it still provided a good enough way to trace her as footsteps could be seen in the dust which had already settled and movement could be seen in what little dust that still lingered low in the air.

Not stopping for a moment, Mathieu picked out his electromagnetic pulse emitter from his pocket and threw it a fair bit over where Ingrid had landed. Once it was about 9 meters away from her, he activated it remotely, causing a powerful burst of EMP to be projected in a 10 meter radius - this was naturally not an unstoppable attack - but he hoped that it would force her to come closer to them or to knock out her electronical equipment. He had seen her armour and was sure it had some.

But Ingrid didn't seem to remain idle either. For she had produced a potent telekinetic attack against both her foes. Mathieu started to project a force barrier to defend both himself and Beltran against the attack - but it was an unexpected one and stuck sooner than anticipated. Feeling how he was pulled in towards the Captain anyways, the Padawan threw himself to the ground whilst extinguishing his sabre, allowing him to slide under Beltran's weapon. Meanwhile, he tried to maintain the force barrier around his ally to at least ensure that he wouldn't fall.

It would have been a great plan if it wasn't for the thick sand which he ended up landing in. Instead of bouncing back up to continue the fight, he got up on his hands and knees and started to cough violently after having inhaled way too much of it. Hopefully, Beltran would be able make something out of their foe's position. For the moment, Mathieu would do his best to recover, firstly by slowly standing back up with eyes fixed on the Sith's position.

At the sight of one of the poor Rangers being torn apart by Insatious' Death troopers, he had to avert his gaze as he could not bare to see someone die in such a brutal manner. However, he pushed on to help the commander before he got himself killed and as he strode across the battlefield to aid him he realised it was too late. The Commander's last order to him felt as if he had been struck through the chest by a lightsaber - Insatious had did it again, had managed to make him somehow fail.

Feeling Insatious' grip through the Force, pulling him toward them, Cas resisted with his own defences as the Jedi and Sith were in a tug of war with his own body. Boots skidding across the ground, Cas was too exhausted to keep this up but fortunately for him the Commander detonated his detonator and he and Insatious were engulfed in a large explosion. Following that, Cas felt Insatious' invisible grip disappear immediately "May the Force be with you, Commander." he said sorrowfully before returning his focus to aiding the remaining Rangers and eliminate Insatious' Death soldiers.

Things were finally beginning to look up, despite the physical conditions he and his allies were in but still, they survived. That was until a familiar dark presence begin to emerge from the smoke and Cas' heart sank, one of the Rangers looked to Cas for advice but he didn't answer as he gripped his lightsaber tightly out of frustration - why wouldn't he just die?! The Jedi Knight was ready to go another round with the superior Sith Lord but was halted in his tracks at the suggestions of his men. They were right, the mission was finished and Cas needed to get the rest out alive. Turning to meet their gazes he would give them their orders "You're right. We retreat." with a look of determination "You go on ahead and call an emergency evac, I'll make sure he doesn't follow." he said calmly, although his exhaustion was clear.

Giving the surviving Rangers a head start, Cas remained firmly in place as he stared down his enemy. Hearing his horrific voice, the Knight's eyes clenched shut and his teeth were gritted as the Dark Lord invaded his mind. Cas extinguished his lightsaber and clipped it to his belt feeling the Force swirl around him like a river flow, summoning his last bit of strength and harnessing the energy of the Force surrounding him, his eyes shot open as if he had woken up from a nightmare. Throwing his arms out in the direction of Insatious he unleashed a powerful Force burst "Can you do it... QUIETLY?!" he yelled out as he did so. Falling to his knees, Cas caught his breath before and stood up to his feet before rushing after the other Rangers ready to defend them before the evac was on its way...

Beltran was pulled off balance by the sudden telekinetic attack and his yellow blade swung dangerously at his Jedi ally. Luckily, Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion had the presence of mind to duck under Beltran's unexpected, unwanted attack and there was no damage done. As his ally's force barrier went up, protecting the Lorrdian from further attacks of this nature, Beltran spun on Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim .

His flying kick had sent the woman rolling and tumbling onto the ground. The dust remained floating through the air, only beginning to settle with the passage of time. It proved his hypothesis wrong, but even a wrong answer was still an answer. He would file this knowledge away in his mind, in case he came upon such a technique again in the future.

Overhead, Mathieu's EMP emitter went off. On reflex, Beltran switched off his dual-bladed pike. While he trusted the Jedi not to use a weapon that would play havoc with his own weaponry, he knew that his pike was not shielded against such attacks. Better safe than sorry. Pain screamed through his injured arm as Beltran reached for his pulse pistol and drew it in his off hand.

Levelling it at the woman, he would unload half it's magazine at her form-sending four super-heated ferrous-mag pellets flying out at her at super-sonic speeds. Without waiting to see if this attack hit home, he holstered the weapon and stalked forward, advancing on her like death itself as one approaches life's inevitable conclusion.

Once the EMP weapon's energy had dissipated, he reactivated his pike and struck at her at her with the blades, each attack flowing easily into another. It was clear that the Lorrdian would not let up the pressure on the woman until either he, or her, lay bleeding on the ground.

Sabaton – Rise of Evil

The fight was now turning in a direction she was not happy about. The pair successfully gained an advantage, the EMP itself did not bother, it had no effect on either the weapon or the armour. Then the shot followed, only hearing the sound and feeling somewhat that the four bullets hit her on the side and chest. The next moment, Beltran Rarr Beltran Rarr arrived and stroked the woman, who was just standing there and ready to move. Even the projectiles should have been deadly, and the attack slipped over the Overlord. And as it happened, Ingrid disappeared.

The woman's eyes popped up on the ground floor of the tower, where she had meditated until now. That’s why it took her so long to leave the tower after she left Adrian, because she meditated too. She creates a Dopplegänger and that alterego went out to receive the two men. She promised Adrian that she would take care of herself and not risk her life. She has been able to do this so far.

~ Now I have to go out and fight them, handsome, so far the Dopplegänger has arranged it, but it has been destroyed. That soldier isn’t specifically darksider, he just doesn’t despise Dark Side practices. ~

Unlike the two men, the woman was rested and had no injuries at all, but they were already a little tired. At least she hoped. Ingrid knew where they were because of the former fight, but she also felt both men in the Force. She didn't reach for the swords, instead she pulled the two daggers out of their holsters, now she needed them more. She soon wanted to end this fight, and she might be bloodlessly successful. In the Force, she again demarcated Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion , then, after a few moments of concentration, she teleported right behind the man.

Once this is done, she tries to nail one dagger in front of the man's neck and press the other against the man's back with the tip of the dagger, but not so much as to injure him. She didn't even touch the man's throat with the dagger, because it would have hurt him already, and she didn't mean to. The devaronian blood poison was quite effective in many ways.

”Let me not have to kill the boy during the duel, order your men back and leave. This duel is over here!”
