  • Early Life:

Beltran Rarr was born on the planet Lorrd, located in the Kanz Sector of the Outer Rim Territory approximately 41 standard years prior to this date. Local adoption records state that Beltran was abandoned by his parents when he was just six months old and lived in an orphanage in the city of New Shallos until the age of twelve. Records from his social service case worker indicate that Beltran suffered from severe night terrors for the entirety of his childhood and was referred for psychiatric observation on seven separate occasions.

Notes attached to his file from the office of psychiatric affairs state that in addition to the night terrors, Beltran also experienced visual and auditory hallucinations. On numerous occasions, he would report voices and vague figures mocking and cajoling him into committing violent acts.
At the age of twelve, Beltran was discharged from the New Shallos orphanage due to over-crowding.

Recommendations from his case worker for additional psychiatric support were not heeded.

The next mention of Beltran Rarr comes from an arrest record filed by the New Shallos constabulary force. It mentions Rarr as a fourteen year old member of a local street gang called the Ravens. The report details a violent assault committed by Rarr against a member of a rival gang that left that individual in critical condition at the local hospital. Rarr was charged with aggravated assault, but released due to prison over-crowding. The case was never brought to trial.

The next mention of Rarr comes from an investigative report by a member of the Lorrd City Press Corps approximately seven years later. The expose details an ongoing crime war between the Crinaldi Crime Family and a mysterious group of interlopers known as The Syndicate. In the expose, Beltran Rarr is named as a contract killer for the Crinaldi Family who operates under the alias Mr. Night. The article goes on to connect Rarr with at least seven murders. While there is no mention of any police response to the piece, a hyperlink was placed to another article detailing the expose’s author’s sudden death only three weeks after the piece was published.

The final mention of Rarr comes from a facial recognition scanner located at the Lorrd City spaceport. It provides shots of a man who’s facial dimensions match Rarr’s entering a shuttle bound for Bimmiel. No further mention of Rarr can currently be found in any of Lorrd’s databanks.

    Leaving Lorrd:

Though whispers of an assassin and mercenary that went by the name Night would periodically make their way through the galactic underworld, the name Beltran Rarr would not surface again in any public network until several months later, when a recruit by that name was inducted into the Antarian Rangers.

    Military Service:

A Lorrdian by the name of Beltran Rarr was inducted into the Antarian Rangers with the rank of Specialist. According to classified datafiles, Beltran excelled in not-standard warfare. His skills were frequently used to track, surveil and occasionally dispose of enemies of the SJO. While in service, Beltran could often be seen in the presences of his commanding officer Valkren Calderon and other members of the Antarian Rangers.

He served with distinction during the Sith invasion of Kashyyyk.

    Disappearance:

According to a missing person's report submitted through the Silver Jedi Judicial Office, Beltran Rarr went missing two years ago. Despite a search, his whereabouts remained unknown for nearly a year. Rumors circulated within the underworld indicating that he may have been captured by his old employers the Crinaldi Crime family. Eventually he would return to Kashyyyk, severely injured and having been implanted with several - as yet unidentified - cybernetic implants.

    Return to Service:

Beltran Rarr was reinstated to the Antarian Rangers by order of Commander Valkren Calderon. He served with distinction in numerous small skirmishes and was wounded in action fighting slavers on Myrkr.

    Promotion:

Following his recovery from wounds sustained on Myrkr, Beltran Rarr was granted an officer's commission at the rank of Lieutenant. He would go on to serve in numerous small operations and consult on the growing state of the war with the Sith. Eventually he would write a classified memorandum detailing his belief that the Silver Jedi's lack of meaningful technological advancement was hampering it's ability to make war. He suggested creating a unit that melded both field testing and black operations, which would give the brass an opportunity to troubleshoot new equipment in some of the most extreme environments possible while limiting the possibility of injury or death to only a few operators. Beltran was given authorization and a small budget to proceed. First, he assembled a support staff from both R&D and civilian private sector contractors. Then he assembled a smaller group of operators, drawing from "problem-cases" within the Antarian Rangers, as well as recruiting a few civilian private contractors and even a couple of criminals. In each case, he was looking for beings who thought "outside of the box" and brought unique perspectives to combat.

Icarus Platoon would serve with distinction against the Sith on Kintan and fight in several smaller operations. Unfortunately the unit would be nearly wiped out fighting the Bryn'adul at the battle of Yurb.

    Jedi Training:

At some point prior to the battle of Yurb, Beltran would travel to his homeworld of Lorrd to face down an old enemy. During this fight, he would recover a long lost holocron and lightsaber belonging to his deceased father, Solan Rarr. Through these objects, Beltran would learn that his father had been a Jedi Knight who'd died on Lorrd a few months prior to his birth. With this new knowledge, Beltran would slowly begin to delve into using the Force. He would take a leave of absence from the Antarian Rangers to study at the Silver Rest. During this time he would travel with a group of Padawans to the planet Crispor and find a pair of kyber crystals and a few artifacts belonging to a long deceased Jedi Temple Guard. During the battle of Yurb, Beltran would use his new skills to face off with the Bryn'adul Titan, Tathra Khaeus at the shield generator outpost outside the capital city.

    Fighting the Bryn'adul

The next several years would see Beltran at the forefront of the war to contain the Bryn'adul threat. He served with distinction in dozens of theatres, including: Sarka, First Battle of Nar Kreeta, Sev Tok and the Second Battle of Nar Kreeta. He was also present at the final battle between the Bryn'adul and the forces of the Galaxy on Danuta. During these years, he would be promoted twice more: First to Captain of Paladin Company, and then to Colonel of the 3rd Rangers Infantry Division.

    After Danuta

Following the defeat of the Bryn'adul, Beltran found himself feeling lost. He took an extended leave of absence from the Antarian Rangers and returned home to Lorrd for a time. From there, he has been documented travelling to various worlds throughout the galaxy. Little is known as to whether he intends to return to service with the Rangers or strike out on his own.

    Resignation from the Antarian Rangers

After months of consideration, Beltran made the difficult decision to retire from the Antarian Rangers. Though the top brass were unhappy to lose such a skilled and decorated commander, they allowed his resignation to proceed in due course. In a transmission that Beltran filmed for those who knew him, he spoke of his intent to seek out Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim , the Empress of the Eternal Empire. Whether or not he intends to pledge service to that faction or simply crave out a new life in that area of the galaxy remains unknown.

  • Civil Training: Few documents can be found of Beltran Rarr attending any educational institutions prior to his induction into the Antarian Rangers, though an old intelligence test can be found in the New Shallos city records. This test indicates that Beltran has an above average level of intelligence.

      Distinguishing Features:
      • Numerous facial and body scars
      • Gang tattoos
      • Cybernetic implants
      • Character Strengths:
      • Cybernetic Enhancements: As a result of the horrific injuries he received at the hands of the Crinaldi Crime Family, much of Beltran's body has had to be augmented with cybernetic implants in order to keep him alive. In addition to maintaining his body's systems, these enhancements have given him increased strength and speed as well as enhanced senses such as infrared sight.
      • Kinetic Communication: Like all Lorrdians, Beltran is fluent in the non-verbal language of Kinetic. Using a series of subtle body and facial gestures, Beltran can communicate with other Lorrdians without anyone untrained in Kinetic knowing about it. In addition, this attenuation to other beings’ non-verbal cues makes Beltran exceptionally talented at reading people’s emotions and intentions simply by noticing the subtle changes in their body language.
      • Uncanny Mimic: Beltran is able to modulate his voice to sound like just about anything or anyone so long as he has had enough time to study the sound and the sound is capable of being made by human vocal chords. Beltran has also been experimenting with ventriloquism with mixed results.
      • Experienced Killer: Beltran has committed numerous murders over the course of his career. He is well versed in the best method of dispatching several species and has little or no regret about doing so. Violence, even extreme violence, is unlikely to phase him.
      • Character Weaknesses:
      • Continuous Agony: As a result of his injuries and cybernetic enhancements, Beltran has been left in a state of continuous pain. He frequently takes injections of powerful analgesics to keep the pain to a manageable level, but as time goes on it becomes harder for him to function. Should he be separated from his pain medication, or otherwise unable to take it, it would not take long before the pain completely overrides his ability to function.
      • Sociopath: While he is capable of mimicking human emotions to a certain extent, Beltran’s emotional range is extremely limited. Emotions like love, compassion or even basic empathy are a mystery to him. This becomes readily apparent any time anyone gets close to him and generally has the effect of pushing people away.
      • Hallucinations: Since he was a child, Beltran has experienced visual and auditory hallucinations. While his halluncinations generally manifest during times of extreme stress, they can occur suddenly and without warning. In order to keep them at bay, Beltran must constantly keep his mind occupied. If he allows his concentration to slip, even for a moment, he can quickly find himself lost between reality and the illusions of his mind.
  • Character ethics: Beltran is a pragmatic man above all else. He is willing to engage in both illegal and immoral acts in order to accomplish whatever task that he's set himself to. He is no stranger to using extreme violence to accomplish his goals. That being said, Beltran does have a few areas in which he will not compromise. He will not harm those he deems to be innocents under any circumstances. He will not condone slavery under any circumstances. Where possible, he will attempt to conduct his affairs in ways that mitigate collateral damage.
