STRENGTHS

Sharp Prick: The blade of the Terminus Shiv is made out of Phrik, making it incredibly durable in combat, even when pitted against lightsabers. The edge itself has been further honed and hardened via a variety of methods, giving it a mono-molecular thickness and incredible cutting ability even when the vibration generator is not active.
Slice of Life: Ultrasonic Vibration Generator causes the blade to vibrate at extreme speeds, allowing it to cut through flesh, textiles and even some metals (such as durasteel) with surprising ease. This is further enhanced by the mono-molecular edge.
Good Vibrations: The ultrasonic nature of the Terminus Shiv's vibration generator negates the distinctive whine that most vibro-weapons emit while in use. This makes it handy for those times when discrete knife work is called for.
Straight To The Point: Upon attempting to stab a target, the device’s shockwave generator can be triggered in order to dramatically increase the piercing ability of this dagger.

WEAKNESSES

The Sound Of Silence: Or rather, not quite. Ultrasonic doesn’t actually mean silent. Certain species with ultra sensitive hearing, such as Sullustans or Bith for example, might still be able to register a faint hum. The latter even experiencing headaches in its presence. Obviously, the Shockwave generator isn’t silent at all, so plan accordingly.
A Rather Shocking Flaw: Suffers from the same weaknesses as most vibro-weapons, namely it conducts electricity frighteningly well. While the textured grip is designed to protect the user from electrocution, the energy cell, ultrasonic vibration generator and shockwave generator are extremely sensitive to sudden surges, risking the chance of the weapon detonating.
Scratching The Surface: Hardy materials such as Phrik, Songsteel, Beskar or their equivalents prove to be much more resistant to this weapon than durasteel. Short of activating the shockwave generator, when brought against such materials the best this knife can achieve is to scratch and gouge the outermost layers.
Pierced Off: Triggering the Shockwave Generator has a high chance of overloading the ultrasonic vibration generator if the user is not careful. This will always be the case when attempting to pierce the aforementioned hardy materials above. In such an event, the weapon will become nothing more than a simple, albeit surprisingly sharp knife.
Go The Distance: This is not a reach weapon, nor is it balanced for throwing. Close the distance if you want to use this knife.

DESCRIPTION

While the bathrobe brigades might enjoy their laser disco sticks, it doesn’t mean the rest of the galaxy needs to be left high and dry in the melee combat department. The Terminus Shiv Vibro-Knife was designed to fill a more ‘mundane’ combat role, taking the humble vibro-knife and giving it a little oomph for the client’s money. Creating something that might not quite be in the same league as a lightsaber, but definitely in a relative league of its own.
In terms of design, the Terminus Shiv presents as a twenty centimetre duraplast hilt with reflec nightshadow coating to allow it to slip discreetly in the user’s belt, kit or even pocket. Simply flicking the switch on the hilt deploys an eighteen centimetre phrik blade, finely honed and crafted to hold a mono-molecular edge. Flicking the switch again will activate the ultrasonic vibration generator, while depressing it will activate the shockwave generator. A third and final flick of the switch will deactivate the blade entirely, returning it to the comfort of the hilt once more.
For added stealth concerns, the vibration generator has been tuned to ultrasonic frequencies above most species’ hearing range, allowing it to run almost completely silent for those looking to slice and dice on the quieter side of things. The mono-molecular blade all but guarantees that the cutting power is almost unrivaled in a weapon of this class. Even glancing wounds can be suitably horrific.
And then when in a pinch, or simply needing to stab the ever lovin’ feth out of a tough motherkarker, the user can rely on the knife’s shockwave generator to pick up the slack (if any) this weapon has in the aforementioned cutting department. This will accordingly charge the blade with an incredibly powerful sonic wave, allowing it to potentially pierce through materials that would otherwise prove impossible (such as Beskar). It might also cause the vibration generator to overload, but for obvious reasons that little tidbit isn’t exactly advertised in the workshop’s listings for the product.
