SPECIAL FEATURES
  • While mechanical arms tend to add to the user's strength greatly, the FF-CAR1 - while still capable of producing more pressure than a biological arm of the same size - has been equipped with smaller motors and pressure units to instead focus more in increasing speed and precision.
  • Does not rust because of standard anti-corrosive coating (specialised for rust - no additional protection against corrosive substances in general)
  • Has the functionality of working as a power conductor and will draw electric currents that hit the body and funnel them away through its silver and golden conductor lines. The golden outlets are normally hidden in the fingers under nail-hatches, only to become visible when actively leading away power.
  • Extra powerful motors allows for a crushingly strong grip.
STRENGTHS
  • Mechanical strength - The mechanical arm, driven by advanced cybernetic components and powered by mechanical components, allows for it to be somewhat stronger than the normal biological arm of the same size with a grip which can crush other metallic constructs with a similar effect to a crushgaunt.
  • Designed for SPEED - Sacrificing some strength, the arm is much speedier than that of an organic and with the more minute motors and internal mechanical components, it allows for controlled and highly precise movements.
  • Conductor - The silver components running inside the arm along with the golden ones by the fingertips can help alleviate the user if they are electrocuted by leading away the electric currents as fast as possible, using what power is left over to produce an electric current which can be directed, either back at the original source or another location of choice.
WEAKNESSES
  • Mechanical - despite use of rubber to insulate the electrical components in as many areas as possible, the fact that the limb is mechanical cannot be escaped. With enough ion or EMP damage, it will be disabled until a restart can be made. This is a critical weakness, seeing as it affects a key limb.
  • Home made - Mathieu Brion created the FF-CAR1 which means that it does not follow any standard production procedures and there is no well though through manual to it either. The internal wiring and setup will be a head-scratcher for the uninitiated and requires plenty of time getting used to.
  • Maintenance - Eating healthy and staying active is not enough to keep the FF-CAR1 at peak performance. Overstressed motors may need replacement and this model contains more motors than the average one, making for longer and slightly more costly maintenance periods.
DESCRIPTION
The For a Friend - Cybernetic Arm Replacement, or FF-CAR1 for short, was created by Mathieu Brion with the help from friends who were knowledgeable in the field. The cybernetic was custom made for the Jedi Knight Cas Tynen who had previously lost part of his left arm in battle. Made to match the size of Cas' original biological arm, the FF-CAR1 also extends beyond the cut-off point - here, it serves more as an armour as the internal mechanical motors are not needed. It also contains the power conductors which often allows this small part of the arm to be completely spared from electrocution.

When the protective panels are opened, the arm can undergo maintenance, modification or repair. The crisscross of different wires connecting to the multitude of motors and cybernetic components controlling the mechanical ones are sure to create a headache for anyone who is unfamiliar with how it works. This is a result of the home made nature of the arm as the internal logic, or perhaps lack thereof, is something which only Mathieu will truly understand. Naturally, with enough time and effort, anyone knowledgeable in the field should be able to comprehend how to repair, upgrade and maintain it.

Knowing his friend, Mathieu has put some extra effort into making the FF-CAR1 well suited for how he would apply it in combat. This means that it has sacrificed some of the added strength which cybernetics can typically bring to the table in favour of heightened speed and precision. Also knowing his friend, Mathieu has ensured that the cybernetic can withstand a fair amount of punishment. With a high resistance against energy damage from blasters, it can still function after being shot once or twice, albeit less efficiently. It can also withstand much more harsh temperatures and other similar conditions better than a normal arm without suffering in performance. What is more is that its metallic nature ensures that kinetic attacks will do little to damage or disable it, giving the user a clear advantage when facing blunt or sharp weapons or falls from uncomfortable heights. One area where strength have not been sacrifice is the hand which has enhanced strength to be able to grip items or persons with tremendous power and force. While these advantages are palpable, the fact that the limb can be disabled by ion and EMPs despite the rubber insulation put in place means that it can also be taken out of the equation, much to the user's disadvantage.

From the outside, the FF-CAR1 has a relatively sleek and simplistic appearance with plates designed to have a similar appearance to human musculature. Naturally, they will functionally not be the same as their function as armour disables them from functioning in the same way as a muscle. Instead, it is the internal motors which causes the movements the arm produces. Internally, the crisscross of wires and other components is accompanied by the silver lines consisting of incredibly thin cables made to work as energy conductors that will speed up the process of leading dangerous electrical currents away from the body.

Under some of the more well hidden panels, a text has been scratched into the arm which reads as follows: Whoever owns this owes Mathieu Brion a drink.
