OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Sith-Imperial Corps of Engineers.
  • Model: SI-HB 2.
  • Affiliation: The Sith Empire.
  • Modularity: No

  • Production: Minor.
  • Material: Durasteel, synthetic grip, ultrasonic vibration generator, Conductor contact vanes.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Mace/Bludgeoning weapon.
  • Size: Average.
  • Weight: Average.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Dual Setting: Choose between riot control and combat settings.
Riot Control: Will stun and bludgeon the victim, but functions as a non-lethal alternative. Striking with the weapon deliver the same stun capabilities of a force pike and may still break bones.
  • Combat: The combat setting amps the power of this weapon to something comparable to a force pike: It will definitely sunder bones and maul flesh. While it has none of the force pike's cutting ability, it makes the mace capable of delivering effective blows against armour.

[*]Weight Distribution: While overall not a heavy weapon, the weight of the mace is notably fronted, thereby making it an effective bludgeoning weapon. Even without its electronic components, it can deliver a wallop.
[*]Conductor Contact Vanes: As part of its damage-dealing capabilities, the weapon features conductor contact vanes like those on the Z6 riot control baton. However, in the SI-HB 2 bludgeon, the vanes are integrated in the upper half of the weapon that activate when the weapon is in combat mode.
Strengths:
  • Bludgeon: This weapon delivers a walloping blow and is highly effective against armoured opponents. On its combat setting, the ultrasonic vibrations, electric current and forward weight will make short process of flesh and bone.
  • Dual Setting: Want to take them alive? The Stun-function is your friend. It will hurt, but they will live.
  • Contact Vanes: The conductor contact vanes leaves the outer part resistant to lightsabres in the upper half.
Weaknesses:
  • Weight: This is not a weapon of finesse. Its forward weight maximises kinetic delivery at the cost of defence and recovery.
  • Vanes: While the vanes leave the head resistant to lightsabres, the shaft has no such resistance. The vanes must also be activated in order to provide any protection.
  • Durability: Sufficient contact with a lightsabre will slowly push through and cut through the protective field of the vanes.
DESCRIPTION

While most soldiers in the modern armed forces prefer to enter the battlefield with a ranged weapon, there are times when you just need to get down and dirty. Whether it be riot control or bearing down on a heavily armoured opponent, there is a need for a simple-to-use bludgeoning weapon with sufficient damage output to pose a real threat. As if that was not enough, one must take into consideration the favoured weapon of the Sith Empire's arch enemies: The Jedi Order. In order to better equip their legionaries, the Empire had to create a weapon that could (at least temporarily) resist the chops of a lightsabre.

Enter: The SI HB-2 Power Mace.

Initially, there were many questions: How big? How heavy? What features? How many can we produce? The first drafts included many designs more closely related to force pikes and the old Z6 riot batons, however the design team was never satisfied and could not come to a conclusion. It was then a mad mind amused itself with the idea of "why not both?". Not thinking it would be feasible, the idea was originally brushed aside as humorous, but with some experimentation it proved feasible

The weapon they ended up creating was front weighted, yet light enough to be wielded one handed. Its integrated conductor contact vanes makes the head of it resistant to fleeting contact with lightsabres, and -coupled with the ultrasonic vibration generator, lets the mace pack enough punch to deal with armoured opponents. Meanwhile, its stun-setting allows for some semblance of humane crowd-control.

In its use, the mace is entirely offensive, offering few defensive capabilities. It is therefore planned to be paired with a rudimentary riot shield for protection.
