STRENGTHS:
  • Sneaky Doesn’t Even Do It Justice: There’s stealth, and then there’s the Ca’galaar. Every piece is carefully assembled to give this craft the absolute lowest, most discreet profile imaginable. From its no-trace engines to its stealth-saturated materials, the odds of detecting this thing using anything less than a dedicated, terrifically-powerful, hyper-advanced sensor array the likes of which are rarely found on massive, military-grade SuperStar Destroyers or Space Stations, and virtually never anywhere else for that matter, are basically the Chaos equivalent of making a Jar Jar Binks / Leia Organa love story sound appealing for any generation of Star Wars fans.
  • Watch Me: Because that’s all you can do when the Ca’galaar is opened up to move and run at fullest potential. Blistering speeds and fascinatingly incredible agility are the hallmarks of this ship, able to quite possibly even outrun and outmaneuver even the fastest and most notable interceptors, she handles like a starfighter herself.
  • Knowledge and the Ability to Use It: The impressive, almost preternatural databases, communications, computers, and slicing / counter-slicing capabilities of this ship are the stuff of legends. Meant to be a covert mobile command center, Metus can direct a fleet, armies engaged across entire systems, remote slice into enemy targets from its secret hiding place tucked safely way from enemy guns. It can usually find and track most anything, even lesser-quality stealth ships, and very likely penetrate most any enemy computers and systems with a whole host of nasty treats. When the Vicelord needs to be able to command, the Ca’galaar can help to do just that, and when he needs to reach out – with good or malicious intent – he can do that too. The potent A.I. is a veritable fount of knowledge at his command, the ideal counselor for those moments when one’s next act can shape or change the history of a galaxy.
  • Comfort, no, Try Lavishness: From laroon wood with gold-inlay to every imaginable luxury accommodation, every bit of the ship’s interior is fit for a Vicelord. Moreover, this luxury interior is designed to suit every need and whim imaginable, from fixing the perfect drink to tuning into the latest shockball scores, to having on hand every manner of medical aid attuned to his genetics, even to exacting biometrics, the Ca’galaar was made for just one man. More’s the pity to anyone who believes this ship can be easily stolen, even accessed without his consent, or to any fool who believes that a single control or system will respond to anyone except him. Any, and we mean any, attempt to do so will very likely end in utter failure. Unless the boss adds you to the ‘okay to use and control’ list, this ship and its great many benefits will serve no one beside him.
  • This Thing Seems to Run Itself: Powerful onboard A.I., fully automated systems – including repair and maintenance, incredibly efficient and finely attuned systems operations, all included to allow Metus to sit back and enjoy the ride. Meant to be an oasis in space, the Vicelord’s needs and passions are met to the Nth degree, and yet, when he desires, he can take the controls himself, pushing the ship even faster and more maneuverable still, making it a thrill to fly just as much a luxury to ride along.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Use the Force: Only Force-sensitive pilots with extensive training (i.e. equal to or greater than that of a Jedi or Sith Knight) are capable of successfully piloting this vessel, and any attempt to do so by someone not so well-trained or lacking in Force-sensitivity would place themselves and the ship, its cargo and crew/passengers, at grave risk almost instantly. When operating using its auto-pilot, the ship loses some of its maneuverability and speed.
  • Hold On a Minute There, Sparky: The Ca’galaar isn’t meant for direct combat. It has low offensive capabilities, even for a ship its size, and even though it can take a lot of punishment, against the direct fire of heavy weapons of large, military-grade capital ships, it will very likely not last long in that fight. The captain who wants to rush into the battle’s fray should probably be boiled in his oil, or at the very least have his head examined. Instead, the Ca’galaar is meant for sneakier things, like scouting, smuggling, or covert activities, the areas in which it was made to excel. But when a fight arises, smart captains fall back on the ship’s stealth, speed, and maneuverability rather than to tackle their enemies head on. Failing to do so holds an uncomfortably high chance of getting one’s name inscribed on a memorial somewhere.
  • Emphasis on Small, Personal Ship: The Ca’galaar is a small ship, and as such it isn’t made for hauling about tons and tons of cargo, dozens of passengers, or trying to tow a star destroyer around. It just doesn’t have the size and strength to do that, and trying places the ship at risk of being overtaxed and potential cascade failures to its many systems. This also means it won’t carry refugees or evacuate wounded soldiers, at least not for any sort of long trip. It can allow a very small number of passengers, but it was intended to be one man’s ship and it is designed for his comfort, safety, and use alone – right down to the biometrics used in the design. Sorry, no rancors!
  • There’s Only One Way Out of Here: Because it uses a Nightwing-class Shuttle, the vessel hasn’t any other escape pods present, and thus if the shuttle is damaged or destroyed, the crew has no means of escape in the event of a catastrophic scenario.
  • Said the Joker to the Thief: Jester cannons are fixed-position, forward-facing and firing these all but negates the impressive stealth suite used on the Ca’galaar. If the pilot opts to engage in combat, the likelihood of detection, targeting, and tracking is temporarily much higher. Prudence is strongly suggested, because once one begins blasting away with these, all bets are off – at least until you can get clear and return to ‘silent running’ once more.
  • Well, This Sucks: The Ca’galaar is literally an amalgamation of rare and advanced technologies, and any truly significant damage isn’t gonna get fixed in some mechanic’s shop at the end of an alley in Mos Eisley. The kinds and quality of technicians and engineers required to repair a seriously damaged ship of this nature, and even the tools and equipment to do it, won’t come cheap or be easily found. Outside of dedicated repair bases and expertise, a truly damaged Ca’galaar will be quite vulnerable until it reaches such a place as it can be fixed up.
  • Finding the Sweet Spot: Powerful onboard tractor beam is forward-mounted and fixed-position also, meaning it can only apply its abilities from one vector and that the benefits of that beam cannot be used to either side or the rear of the vessel. This means clearing drifting asteroids or debris from behind just isn’t possible unless you can turn the entire ship around.
DESCRIPTION:

I set out to build a ship, and wound up giving birth to a nightmare’s fething shadow.” ~ Visanj T’shkali

There are far more things in Heaven and Earth…than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” – William Shakespeare

It wasn’t easy. It’s never easy. But being the galaxy’s greatest ‘procurement specialist’, Visanj didn’t give up. She combed junkyards and used ship lots from Tython to Tattooine. Called in favors and hit up contacts on a hundred worlds. But in the end, she found what she’d been looking for…

The Sith Fury Interceptor used by Darth Malgus during the Great War. The one he and his master took to Korriban, the one he launched invasions with, commanding whole fleets from its decks. It was battered, broken, and crestfallen when she located it, but nonetheless, there it was, intact.

Vis had it hauled to her secret facility, and set her team of technicians – the finest of their kind, outlaws all culled from Dagata’s shipyards – to tear it down entirely. Days turned to weeks, and weeks to months, as system by system, rivet by rivet the ship was rebuilt. Into it, she’d dumped nearly every piece of tech she’d ever made, a full-blown showpiece of the works of Visanj T’shkali and VisTech. Not one system aboard it wasn’t her own. From the refreshers to the reactor, the shields to the sleeping cushions, everything had her touch to it. It was, in no small way, the very finest ship she’s ever built!

Vis admired the sleek, sexy black lines and molten, living skin, undulating and pulsing as it sheathed the fearsome figure of a starship. Vis had given it the original shape and feel, though sleeker than the Sith had imagined for it. Like a razor blade through space, she thought, taking it all in. The monstrosity it was, screamed a lethality and mystery unmatched by any ship she’d ever seen. With good reason, she thought, there’s enough stealth in this thing to invade even an enemy’s waking thoughts and dreams, driving them to madness like some insidious creature taunting from the void.

It used no fuel, left no trace, made no sound, showed up on only the most advanced and powerful scans and then it appeared only a tiny anomaly, barely noticeable against the vastness of space. Ice cold to the touch, its moving skin heaved and sighed around her hands. Even the Force can’t see this coming, Vis thought, alone with her monster in the dim light of the hangar. Faster and more maneuverable than most starfighters, tougher than ships three or maybe four times its size, and still, it wasn’t made for wars fought on battlefields or amidst giant fleets. No, not this creature. She was an assassin, a thief in the night, and she would wield power in ways that even the greatest of Sith Lords had never imagined possible.

As Vis stepped onto the ramp, she reminded herself that once this is online, even she wouldn’t have access unless Metus allowed it. His oasis, a refuge against the black, forgotten and lost to all. As she walked into the main entrance chamber, she nodded at the conversion of the space. Having junked out the escape pods and redesigned the docking ray to hold a single Nightwing-class shuttle instead, she was proud of the efficiency her efforts had wrought. The small shuttle wasn’t a starfighter, and lacked the teeth to be any use in a fight. Like its mother, it was meant for more covert activities. It’s powerful sensors and communications put it on par with the galaxy’s best scout ships. All the better for spying, she thought. In the case of catastrophe, it was outfitted for up to two of Metus’ guests to escape, along with himself, able to sustain them back to safety in Confederate Space if needed.

She went inside, entering the main deck area, or promenade, as she called it. The old Sith-inspired cold blue and seething red was gone, as were the industrial sensibilities of the craft’s former life. Now, all that had been replaced with shiny laroon wood, stained to near black hue, inlaid with aurodium-electrum detailing. The ancient holo-table was replaced anew, providing enhanced visual clarity and audio. With space around it enough to brief an entire squadron there.

“Ashondra, how are we today?” Vis called out into the cavern.

“Quite fine, as you no doubt expected, Baroness. Are the works finished?” Replied the disembodied voice, with familiar tint.

“Yes, yes my darling, your cute little electronic butt will soon be on your own.”

“Good. Though, I do hope we’ll get to visit?”

“It’s up to the Vicelord, but I would miss our Shah-Tezh games.”

“As would I. I still have no idea why you can win. Our series is 39-34, in my slight favor. The odds suggest you have defied them.”

“Yeah, I get that a lot. Are all systems functional?”

“Yes, they are.”

“Good girl.”

“Thanks…smart ass”

Sounds of both voices laughing filled the cavernous promenade. Vis noted the entire area was proper: Set generally as a lounge, there was a few hoverchairs waiting, laroon wood and polished chromium with gel-foam cushions, able to move about on gentle repulsorfields to and from various sites. In one, a holo-gaming console, while another boasted a small food management system and caf dispenser, and in one area, the entire wall was a soothing aquarium, boasting inside a living reef and teeming with all manner of bioluminescent fish and marine creatures.

One could relax here, a crewman or passenger, able to grab a steaming cup of spiced caf or fix a small snack or even a meal while standing the watch. Metus could relax and play his holo-games with friends, or take in a holonovel or the lastest episode of “The Devaronian”, the galaxy’s most popular show, streaming on Breshig Plus. Thus, in addition to its myriad features and systems, the whole vessel becomes a sanctum in space. One giant meditation chamber, a flying Qabbrat. Although, it was in Metus’ private wing that truly became a refuge.

On the other side of the aquarium wall, adjacent to the bridge, lies the Vicelord’s suite. Inside, every aspect of the Vicelord’s personality was taken into account, up to and including holo-albums of his children and grandchildren. The massive Alderaanian Relaxa-bed, adorned in black and gold bedding, features built-in massage technology, ensuring lavish comfort and rest is readily available. A private liquor compartment stocked with Tihaar and Whyren’s Corellian Whisky can be found. A second holo-media console. A personal wardrobe for the Vicelord’s clothing, armor, and personal weapons. Nothing has been overlooked. Every amenity is available, including a private refresher.

Beyond this, one can find the opulent conference room. A glowstone-crystal chandelier provides lighting, while the Culina system stands ready to prepare gourmet meals for the Vicelord and his guests. Around the heavy polished Alderaanian rainbow wood table, inset with holoprojector in the center, guests can gather for a meal, a conference on state issues, negotiations with foreign powers, or merely a game of sabacc.

Back to the rear of the ship, Somnus sleep modules allow for up to four passengers, with their own refresher. Going back through the promenade, one finds the onboard infirmary, fully-automated and stocked with every imaginable medical tool, medication, etc. and custom-suited to the Vicelord’s needs most especially. Beyond this, passing the shuttle bay and exit ramp once more, one encounters what was the main reactor room. However, due to the much micronized reactor and other systems incorporated into this ship, much of the space has been amended to allow for shipboard manufacturing. Forming the Vicelord’s personal forge, workspace, and center for his arcane works, it – like the rest of the ship – is heavily secured, as everything is keyed to the Vicelord’s voice and other biometrics personally. Every individual button even uses a micro-fingerprint sensor. No one, unless given permission by him, is going to get anywhere on this ship easily. Across the hall one finds the cargo bay, with its automated cargo systems, stored Archer Speeder Bike, and discreetly hidden detention system. Further, the cargo bay has been made into an integrated EVE Unit, a holographic chamber able to become whatever the Vicelord needs it to be, from a training center, meditation room, simulation player, if you can think of it, the EVE can be it! Even creating a warm Mon Calan sea for a leisurely swim. Lastly, one comes back to the bridge, where the powerful, independent Ashondra A.I. is usually lurking about when she’s not needed elsewhere, perpetually manning the helm. Although, if Metus is what Vis suspected, he will be taking the controls frequently she’d bet.

In all, she knew this ship was special. A showpiece of her best and most technologies concentrated into one ship, a veritable flying palace, steeped in history but brought to be ahead of its time. This was the Ca’galaar. Vis smiled at the work. It was good.
