PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Manufacturer:
Visanj T’shkali
Affiliation: Closed-Market
Model: Sieche Shield Generator
Modularity: None
Production: Mass-Production
Material(s): Various Components
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Creates a hydrostatic ‘bubble’ around a fighter or ship, preventing water from touching the vessel (together with the pressures which deep-submersion brings) and thereby enabling both supercavitation and preventing flooding or vulnerability to deep sea pressures.
STRENGTHS:
  • Allowing for supercavitation, ships are free to use otherwise conventional-type propulsion systems while submerged, enabling them to accomplish impressive underwater speeds and maneuverability very far beyond those of other aquatic vessels.
  • Prevents susceptibility to flooding or undersea pressure, enabling ships to reach extreme depths.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Power demands increase as depth of the vessel increases, and should power supplies fail the effects of the shield would be lost, bringing potentially catastrophic risks to the ship and its crew.
  • Offers no combat benefit, except against water-based attacks, and cannot do anything to prevent damage from most other types of weapons.
DESCRIPTION:

While the Sieche provides no useful combat benefits, except only if the enemy were to employ fire hoses and squirt guns in the fight, it does enable ships to reach exceptional depth without feeling the effects of pressure or the surface friction which submersion normally entails. The powerful hydrostatic ‘bubble’ also allows for conventional drive systems and maneuvering thrusters to be engaged while submerged, allowing for extreme speeds and agility while submerged that few, if any, other ships can deliver. This is of course dependent on a steady and uninterrupted power supply to the shield generator, without which, the pressure and intensity of the depth to which the vessel might be presently submerged would be felt and give way to serious potential risks to both ships and their crews.
