PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: VisTech Diversified Industries, LLC
Affiliation: Closed-Market
Model: Polymetis Shipboard Production Package
Modularity: None
Production: Semi-Unique
Material(s):
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Capable of producing virtually anything needed, from new clothing and armor to replacement parts and tools, the Polymetis is a step forward in shipboard manufacturing. Sized to be carried on ships from light corvettes to much, much larger vessels, the Polymetis is perfect for those captains and crews who operate away from the galaxy’s manufacturing centers and civilized markets.
  • Uses a small molecular furnace to create raw materials, able to break down pretty much any material (i.e. scrap metal, useless rocks, you name it) and produce the exact materials needed for the other devices to use to complete their work.
  • Computer-assisted design and tooling ensures products meet demanding specifications and can be altered to fill any need.
  • Comprehensive database – customized by client – contains specifications and plans for every part used aboard their vessel, vehicles, weapons and other equipment, armor, clothing, etc. making repair and replacement possible, even ‘way out’ on the fringe of known space.
STRENGTHS:
  • Yep, We Can Make That: Need to repair a burned-out part? How about a new shirt? Maybe fix that wonky droid? Even make that magical talisman you have been thinking about? The Polymetis allows you to do all of this and more. The unit is programmed with a custom inventory of plans and specs for the users’ own items, but can be expanded with simple upgrades on the go to include more. Its only limits are very few, very rare, and center mainly on Force-imbued or single point of origin items, i.e. items and materials found only in one location in all the galaxy.
  • Got Some Scrap: The molecular furnace can take virtually any material, organic or inorganic, to create the materials needed by other systems in the package. This means that so long as you have the power and the time, you can replace most any commonplace material, part, or component out there.
WEAKNESSES:
  • You Can Only Do So Much: Construction sizes and production levels equally proportionate to the size of ships carrying them. In other words, a 100m ship can’t mass produce weapons or starfighter parts. Instead, they must stick to just producing an item or two at a time. If you don’t know how or what to do then, well, that’s on you.
  • Some Assembly Required: The polymetis doesn’t contain assembly features, and so users will find that unless they have also, say, a self-regulating droid factory onboard, they will just have the parts produced and will have to put them together themselves, reliant on their own abilities and efforts, and subject to the time needed for this. This doesn’t apply to garments, due to the included garment-fabricator included, and the addition of a nanoforge offers to help some of the time needed for the rest.
DESCRIPTION:

“The Polymetis incorporates various manufacturing technologies and dedicated database for various plans, specifications, and other information to prototype, duplicate, and synthesize any number of component parts, materials, even produce replacements or parts to repair lost or broken items, clothes, armor, weapons, equipment, etc. Need to repair that flickering, failing old flux capacitor? Well, the Polymetis can give you the parts to do that, but unless you have an assembler, you might be spending Saturday night putting it together yourself. As such, the quality of the repairs cannot be certified, only the quality of the parts produced. Likewise, Polymetis can allow you to make things in proportion to the size of starship it’s installed on. This means that churning out hordes of droid soldiers and squadron after squadron of starfighters to overwhelm your enemies in the midst of a battle is probably out of the question for the captain of a 120m corvette. No, that’s wrong, there’s no “probably” about it, you can’t, you just can’t.

You can however duplicate clothing, not merely the materials used, but actually fabricate completed products. This takes time with armor, but it can still be done. So if you need a little black dress for a party with some gangsters on a backwater freeport, you’re in luck! Need some cold weather gear, sure thing! Make it on your way to Hoth. Are you a Sith Alchemist? There’s even a forge for making those small talismans and special doo-hickies that make Jedi go all cringy. How about a Jedi practitioner of Alkahest? Need something to make those dark shadows in your bedroom stop trying to break your mind at night? Also, quite doable with the Polymetis. So long as you have the knowledge, time, and plans for it, most anything can be produced. In fact, you can even update the database included easily, though some time might be involved in the programming, to expand your repertoire of possible fun things to make.

The Polymetis uses a molecular furnace, again size appropriate for your vessel, to break down virtually any material and recombine it to create the raw materials need for your creations. Also, the thing gets hot, so set your coffee mug on it and enjoy a steaming cup all day long. No, don’t do that. That was a joke. These things are serious and you should use all the tools and devices included here carefully and vigilantly.

Okay, well, that’s the basic run through….any questions? Enjoy your Polymetis, and remember, what you make is up to you, we’re not responsible for what you do, only for enabling you to do it! Thanks!”
