PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Manufacturer: Visanj T’shkali
Affiliation: Closed-Market
Model: Medical Treatment / Surgical Droid (MT-SD) Creche
Production: Limited
Modularity: Semi-Unique
Material(s):
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Classification: First Degree
Role: Medical / Surgical Droid
Weight: Average
Height: Average
Movement: Repulsorlift
Armaments: None
Misc. Equipment:
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Capable of performing any of a number of medical procedures, ranging from diagnosing conditions, monitoring patients’ signs, and treating numerous wounds, diseases, conditions, and illnesses, even emergency trauma or performing complex surgeries (such as cybernetic implants or brain surgery).
  • Able to treat more than 1 million sentient and non-sentient species.
  • Six multiceps allow coordinated actions, enabling the droid to function as its own medical assistant.
  • Repulsorlift technology allows the droid to operate stably and safely regardless of terrain, while an osmotic field generator and steristeel used in construction prevent infection and enable wound cleaning, etc.
  • Onboard medicine dispensers and hypodermic injectors can deliver any of a variety of medicines and therapies to patients.
  • Droids are stored in a creche, holding six droids in low-power/recharging mode, and linking them through onboard communications systems to share information between them and to permit their being linked to a vast medical database, further expanding their abilities. For especially difficult or complex procedures, the droids can work in tandem on a single patient.
STRENGTHS:
  • Each creche holds six droids, which can work independently or together to treat several patients or to cooperate on a single patient for particularly challenging or complex procedures.
  • Droids can perform a broad range of medical services, including veterinary, surgical, dental, OB/GYN services, cosmetic procedures, emergency trauma medicine, treatment of diseases, and even cybernetics enhancements, etc.
  • Droids can also scan for and diagnose wounds, illnesses, and other conditions, even performing analysis of tissues, bone fragments, blood, etc. Additionally, droids can analyze cadavers to perform autopsies, forensic reviews, DNA scans, and more, making them able to act as forensic field technicians, coroners, and even able to gauge environmental toxicity conditions (including air and water samples).
  • Hardened against EMP/Ion.
WEAKNESSES:
  • The MT-SD has no combat application whatsoever, defensively or offensively.
  • The MT-SD has no defense against most forms of weapons nor can it receive much in the way of kinetic damage due to its delicate and complex calibration and equipment.
  • Droids are too small and weak to evacuate an immobilized patient.
DESCRIPTION:
The MT-SD is an exceptionally versatile medical droid, capable of performing a broad range of medical procedures and able to diagnose and treat any number of maladies. Six of these are contained in a creche, which serves as both a recharging dock and a coordinating computer / medical database. Together, they can perform extensive surgery on a single patient, or else they can ‘split up’ into any combination or number of units to treat multiple wounded or sick patients. Able to scan, diagnose, and treat a terrific variety of conditions across an equally broad scope of species, the droids provide hospital-quality care on par with some of the galaxy’s finest healers and surgeons.
The repulsorlift engines, fitted for all-terrain travel, permit the droids to move swiftly and silently over land and sea and can be keyed to be summoned as needed, able to travel up to 150km from their creche and function for up to 148 standard hours before needing to return for recharging. A summoning code can be pre-set into communicators and comm systems, functioning like an encrypted homing beacon followed by the droids to their master with just a simple codeword or push of a button.
Due to the complexity of these droids, they cannot endure too intense kinetic damage and have no protection against weapons fire or other attacks, and neither have they the means to respond to such aggression. This utter lack of combat capability leaves them vulnerable to being damaged or destroyed, and thus, while they can be summoned into a battlefield, their best survivability comes in responding under cover or after the hostilities have ceased.
Onboard tools include a variety of medical scanners and sensors, allowing the droids to perform even forensic measures. Droids’ articulated multiceps, laser scalpel, and medicine dispenser/injectors enable them to treat a variety of conditions. An onboard pharmacy, consisting of two (2) does of each of the following twenty medications, is included but other medications can be swapped:
The creche holds a variety more of medications, and refills for the above items. Lastly, the droid can hear and understand the patient, and using an onboard vocabulator and micronized Tranlang III can interact with patients. A clinical psychology sub-program and feminine vocalizations enable the droids to both act as counselors and to calm patients while treating them.
In all, the MT-SD is an extremely versatile and capable medical droid system, perfect for use aboard starships or within various facilities. Especially where other medical technicians and personnel cannot be used, ensuring that top-notch, full-range medical care can be provided quickly, even out on the fringe!

The issue of just how 'stealthy' Stygian-Triprismatic Polymer is has long been one of debate in the Factory. As "Stygian/Stygium" is often associated with cloaking devices, this is the general assumption that it is stealth material. However, the Wookie states only (Legends entry):

"Stygian-triprismatic polymer was a harder form of duraplast. The mineral was used in many armors and shields, such as that worn by Shadow stormtroopers, and in some types of Mandalorian armor. It could also enhance portable stealth fields and sound dampeners."

So, on one hand, it implies a 'naturally' reinforced and more durable form of duraplast which could 'enhance' stealth tech but it's not clear regarding if it is in and of itself a stealth material or merely conducive to stealthier applications. As a result, the judgment on this varies between judges and there seems no clear definition or standard considering it from one judge to another. So, while I have changed the production to "Semi-Unique" as suggested and have no issue doing so, I might suggest that a consensus be made among the Factory personnel to avoid future confusion or inconsistency. I am putting this here because I know others who are - like me - partial to using this material and would like to see us be a bit more uniform on the subject. A friendly suggestion only.

Again, the changes are made and I appreciate your time and consideration on this matter. Thanks again!
