SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Inti is designed with a pilot-controlled ‘toggle’ to allow it to build a notable charge, sacrificing the firing speed slightly, to grant it exceptional stopping power, making it able to deliver an incredibly powerful attack against an enemy target.
STRENGTHS:
  • Generating power from the ship’s reactor, the Inti’s munitions capacity is effectively unlimited provided the vessel’s power plant and management system is in working order.
  • Like its ‘big brother’, the Inti can allow a stronger energy pulse to build up, granting it a slowed firing rate in exchange for a significantly more powerful strike against a target. This selective fire option is at the pilot’s discretion.
  • Sheer destructive power of the ionized energy weapon combines several forms of damage types, e.g. kinetic, energy, thermal, and ion/electrical to create a devastating effect with the potential to wreak havoc and significant, even lethal, destructive force against one’s opponents.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Toggling to the ‘overcharged’ setting to allow for more potent strikes lowers the rate of fire and recharge time, even if toggling back to standard settings, will be lessened some effectively taking the weapon ‘offline’ for several seconds before firing once more.
  • Should the vessel’s power systems become damaged or inoperable, the Inti is likely rendered useless.
  • Being a scaled-down version of the larger and more powerful Aton Torpedo Launchers, the destructive power is not on part with its ‘big brother’, so while it may cause considerable damage to starfighters, small craft, corvettes, and possibly frigates, it won’t have much effect on the truly large capital ships or similarly massive targets.
DESCRIPTION:

The idea was easy enough, how can you downsize the awesome firepower of Locke and Key Mechanics’ Aton Torpedo Launchers for use on small craft and starfighters without sacrificing its lethality? See, these were the questions that John Locke called Vis about at four in the morning, and as per usual, Vis would just wake up, make a pot of caf, and try like hell to figure them out. The answer to this one came with the Inti, a smaller sized system with somewhat-lowered stopping power in exchange for a lighter weight, lessened recoil, and keener performance standards than its ‘big brother’.

The Inti works on the same premise and technology as the Aton Launcher, however it is scaled back, reducing its effective stopping power. Toggle-capacity remains, just as before, allowing pilots to set the weapon to enable it to develop a much stronger charge over time, sacrificing firing speed for potency to produce a notably higher degree of potential damage to enemy targets. This selection, if opted for, requires a longer ‘charging time’, even if the pilot switches back to regular firing (at least for the next round) and makes the intervals between shots longer which in turn produce small but potentially dangerous seconds-long gaps in firing times. Further, just like the Aton before it, the Inti is entirely dependent on the power supply of the ship carrying it, and should anything happen to cause that ship’s reactor, power supply or management systems, or other power systems to fail or become inoperable, the weapon may be compromised and become unable to function properly or even at all. Yet, for all this, the Inti represents a powerful and versatile weapon with nearly unlimited capacity, giving pilots a potent and reliable weapon against their enemies.
