PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: Visanj T’shkali
Affiliation: Visanj T’shkali
Model: ARGUS Probe Deployment System
Modularity: No
Production: Mass-Produced
Material(s): Segroth Shocksteel, Reflec-based Shadowskin, Electronic Components

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Able to hold up to 16 PSI-clops Mk. I Terrestrial Reconnaissance & Survey Droids or 24 GE-MSD devices.
  • Able to deploy full payload in 1-2 minutes, through deployment chute.
  • Can be mounted onto starships and jettisoned if desired.
STRENGTHS:
  • Automated deployment system will deploy up to the full payload in any amount desired in under two minutes.
  • Shadowskin makes detection difficult by all but the most advanced scanners.
  • Can be mounted on any starship greater than 40m and jettisoned if desired.
  • Hardened against EMP/Ion and offers significant protection to payloads inside against blasters and other plasma energy weapons.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Does not protect payload against kinetic damage or lightsabers.
  • Once deployed, probes and other devices cannot be recalled and stored inside the device and must be manually retrieved.
  • Cannot be mounted on starships under 40m in length.
  • Cannot hold any items beyond that which it is configured for; reconfiguration requires time and effort and cannot be performed during space travel meaning the vessel must land and either be swapped out or reconfigured by technicians on the ground.
  • Once jettisoned, a pod cannot be reattached and any of its payload not yet deployed will be lost.
DESCRIPTION
Modeled on the ordinance pods used in the old TIE/sa bombers, the pods can be mounted alongside vessels greater than 40m in length, and are configured to hold either 16 PSI-clops droids or 24 GE-MSD devices. Captains can deploy payloads in any number up to the entire payload at will, being able to deploy the entire contents of a single pod in under two minutes’ time. Pods can be jettisoned – their contents deployed or not – when desired. Once jettisoned, a pod cannot be reattached. Pods must be reconfigured or swapped out only ground crews with experienced technicians. Offers good protection against enemy laser fire and EMP/Ion damage to the payload.
