PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: VisTech Diversified Industries, LLC
Affiliation: Closed-Market
Model: Eidolon-7 Holographic System
Modularity: None
Production: Semi-Unique
Material(s):
Component(s):
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Once installed, the Eidolon-7 enables simultaneous ultra-realistic 7-D holograms to be projected throughout a starship, each as varied or homogenous as users desire.
  • Utilizing ‘hard-light’ technologies, the solid-state holograms use low-intensity force field projections to enable physical interactions between the holograms, users, and the ship itself. One can literally touch and feel the holograms (even different textures, etc.), as well as enabling the holograms to touch and ‘feel’ physical objects as well, making them ideal for holographic crew members, training programs, and much, much more.
  • Fully-integrated high-definition sonic systems allow holograms to be heard, emulating speech and other noises as if made by ‘the real thing’ for fully immersive interactions.
  • Heuristic programming enables holograms to operate within the parameters of the spaces into which they’re projected, adjusting movements, postures, and other behaviors for optimal realism.
  • Linked camera systems, microphones, and olfactory sensors allow holograms to ‘see’, ‘hear’ and ‘smell’ real-world objects as well, granting them four of the five senses available to enhance interactivity.
STRENGTHS:
  • Ultra-realistic, highly-interactive holographic system enables holograms to appear in incredible detail, with actual physicality, realistic texture, and density, and able to interact with physical objects as well.
  • Linked sensor network enables holograms to ‘see’, ‘smell’, and ‘hear’, while integrated tractor beam projectors allow holograms to move about objects, etc. in real ways, while heuristic programming enables them to negotiate around various objects or to adapt to changes in interior layouts, etc.
  • Allows multiple simultaneous projections of the same or different holograms throughout a starship.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Only moderately shielded against EMP/Ion threats, the system can be in part or in full disabled by very intense attacks of this kind.
  • Weapons fire has strong potential to damage or disable some or all components of this system.
  • Because of intensive power demands for multiple projections, the ability of each hologram projected is lessened with each concurrent hologram running, i.e. the more holograms you have going at once, the less ‘strong’ or ‘realistic’ each one becomes. Ex.: One holographic crewman will function just as would a real one, but ten will be reduced in capabilities by 0.05%, meaning that more than twenty concurrently projected holograms will not be able to functionally interact with physical objects.
  • Holograms are only able to perform tasks which their programming enables them with. In other words, a holographic medical technician not programmed with procedural knowledge to perform a root canal cannot do so despite physical capabilities until such programming is introduced.
  • Due to aforementioned weaknesses, the system is relegated to effective use on smaller-sized vessels (300m or less) and cannot be applied throughout a larger ship.
DESCRIPTION:

Designed to allow users to project numerous ultra-realistic holograms, ranging from holographic crew members to sparring partners to virtual pets, the Eidolon-7 is capable of running several simultaneous and incredibly realistic projections at once. Users must be careful not to run too many of these simultaneously, as each additional concurrent projection lessens the capabilities of all running projections by 0.05%, effectively limiting the number to 20 possible concurrent projections.

Holograms are exceptionally realistic, able to mimic texture and details through 7-D technology coupled with low-intensity force field projections which enable them to interact with physical objects. Furthermore, holograms can ‘see’, ‘hear’, and ‘smell’ through the integrated sensor network included in this system, as well as to ‘speak’ or generate audible sound through an equally integrated ‘surround sound’ high-quality speaker system. Able to take on any shape or movement their programming allows, holograms can be engaged as medical personnel, servants, combat instructors, and more. Whatever their programming includes procedural knowledge for, the holograms can execute. The system is moderately shielded against potential disruption or damage caused by EMP/Ion and is vulnerable to being damaged or disabled by weapons fire directed against the various emitters, sensors, and projectors used.

Yet, the presence of tractor beam emitters and solid-state ‘hard-light’ holographics enables holograms to pick up, hold, and move physical objects, while heuristic programming enables them to maneuver about and navigate through and around various physical objects realistically and unimpeded. As such, holograms can move about without running into or tripping over objects as if they were real beings. Complex, high-quality, high-resolution projectors ensure holograms can look and even feel like the real thing, while sonic emitters can replicate a host of sounds, voices, etc. with ease.

Relegated to smaller-sized ships (300m and below) due to power constraints and other weaknesses, they can provide a wide array of options for captains of those ships on which the Eidolon-7 can be used. Want your very own virtual strill to play a game of fetch to pass the hours on a long cruise through the void, well, here comes fluffy! What about that emergency holographic medical technician to administer life-saving care? Got that covered. Maybe a twi’lek dancer to provide entertainment for a lonely crew on a long voyage? Yep, that too. From holographic crewmen to clean the head, augmented security to repel boarders, or just that master chef to cook that perfect dish you’ve been craving, the Eidolon-7 makes it all possible!
