Faction The War Game on Taris | SJC & MU

T A R I S

unknown.png

With the recent Life Day’s celebrations out of the way, the neighbouring factions of the Silver Jedi and the Mandalorian Union have been looking for ways to further prepare their military capacities against potential threats. This has been of particular importance seeing the increasing tension across the galaxy and the centric positions of both factions.

In order to accomplish this, they have agreed to conduct a joint military exercise on the world of Taris. The exercise consists of two mixed teams of Jedi and Mandalorians who start out in two neighbouring buildings with turbolifts locked to moving between floors 1, 5 and 10. Originally meant to be an interconnected pair of twin apartment buildings, their construction was forced to be halted when the devastating Rakghoul infestation forced everything to be abandoned. Left to waste away, the entire area reverted to a polluted swampland with the two buildings serving as foreboding monoliths that jut out of the horizon. While scheduled for demolition their lack of population and urban environment made them ideal for training in urban warfare.

The team in the Northern building is tasked with protecting their VIP, Cato Harth Cato Harth while the team in the Southern building is tasked with protecting their VIP Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt . At the same time, it is important for each team to also focus on disabling the VIP of their opposing team.

Weapons have to a large extent been replaced or modified in order to minimize the risk of causing lethal or permanent damage since it is a friendly exercise. Still, everyone is encouraged to give their opponents a tough challenge.

The teams have internal comms and there’s a nice stairway leading through the building, so, you know, it’s possible to move up and down.

Route 1: Crane
Situated on the roofs of both buildings, resides a massive construction crane that had been abandoned and dilapidated from neglect due to the encroachment of the Rakghoul. While worn down it still provides a route to and from each building. The route is treacherous with fast winds and unstable structures requiring outright mobility and grace to traverse or mobility assisting gear such as grappling hooks and jet packs.

Route 2: Bridge
The middle levels of both buildings are connected by a wide and long bridge, covered by crates and construction material. The bridge is the most easily accessible, providing both sides with a swift passage to the other building. Who controls the bridge controls the battle, making it a key location to be taken in a head-to-head battle.

Route 3: Swamp
The final route between the two buildings leads through a swamp on Taris its ground level. While the rakghoul in this area have been largely exterminated, the swamp is still a treacherous place that grants cover to predators, Mandalorians and Jedi alike. The swamp is therefore ideal for traps, stealth and surprise attacks, tactics which are highly advised.

If you’re interested leave a post in the sign-up thread. You’ll be assigned to a side to keep equally sized teams. While there is a pvp element the goal is to have fun and treat each other with respect.

After all these years, for the first time in his life, Cato finally heard those three magic words in reference to him:

“Very Important Person”

Unfortunately Cato only paid about half-attention to everything said after that. What would be his first decree as VIP? His mind wandered, only to be brought back to reality as the teams were divided. He was pretty sure he had it all figured out. Besides, it’s just a game. At least the idea of getting a chance to trounce Cadere Cadere was exceptionally appealing.

The two teams were split into their separate buildings, and Cato took a moment to limber himself up in preparation. “So, should I just like, stand around here or something?” He asked mid-lunge. “That sounds kinda boring. Is someone gonna keep me company?” The knight’s playful glance shot over to Sakadi Marathi Sinvala Sakadi Marathi Sinvala momentarily, before he took a more readied stance.

Cato spun out the hilt of his lightsaber and eyed it with suspicion, “We’re not trying to kill each other or anything, right?” Suspicion grew, “We’re not, right?”

He made doubly certain the weapon was locked in training mode, just to play it safe.

Kranak was sitting on a small pile of crates with his back leaning against the wall with his Westar-M5 resting on his lap as he applied threads, netting, and strings to break the silhouette of his rifle. The colors of the materials would match with the colors of the swamp. He had already worked on his Hooded Poncho and his Kama an hour ago. He had applied netting on his Hooded Poncho and Kama and inserted the same materials on their netting he was applying to his rifle now. He gave a slight nod of the head, showing satisfaction when he was done with breaking the silhouette of his rifle after he finished applying the threads, netting, and strings to it. The only parts that were uncovered would be the magazine, the muzzle and either side of the scope lense, for obvious reasons. He would be ready to traverse the swamp side of the exercise area now.

He slung the Westar-M5 to his back and reached for his Scatter Gun. They would be using non-lethal rounds for the exercise, obviously. He looked at the mixed group of Jetii and Mando’ade around him. It was an interesting sight to see. They were doing the exercise to increase their combat readiness and combat effectiveness in accordance with the increasing tension in the galaxy. It was a good idea.

<Maybe this is the first step to making allies.> He thought to himself as he loaded the last non-lethal slug into his Scatter Gun. He would very much prefer to lean his back against a Jetii than a Dar’jetii in a fight. At least the Jetii was predictable and not scheming behind peoples backs unlike the Dar’jetii. He pumped back and forth to chamber one of the slugs into his Scatter Gun after gripping the forestock as he dwelled on the thought.

He was pretty much ready for the exercise now. He had already removed his Incendiary and Dioxis grenades from his bandoleer and emptied the small tank in his left vambrace that contained liquid fuel for his Flamethrower, as well as packing non-lethal blaster magazines and slugs for his weapon platforms. Had to get rid of those for the exercise. Wouldn’t want to mortally wound someone. The exercise parameters were very simple. Protect your team VIP and capture the opposition’s VIP. It didn’t sound too hard. He heard a Jetii speak as he put on his helmet and drew his Hood over his helmet.

The two teams were split into their separate buildings, and Cato took a moment to limber himself up in preparation. “So, should I just like, stand around here or something?” He asked mid-lunge. “That sounds kinda boring. Cato spun out the hilt of his lightsaber and eyed it with suspicion, “We’re not trying to kill each other or anything, right?” Suspicion grew, “We’re not, right?”

He jumped down from the crates he was sitting on as he clutched the pistol grip of his Scatter Gun. He glanced at his fellow vode and the Jetiise and inquired [“So, what’s the game plan, then?”]

This couldn't get any worse than it was.

He was the VIP. And Kreslin Westwind Kreslin Westwind was on his team.

All he wanted to do was fight his way to the Mand'alor and beat him. Would he have? No knowing now. The young Mandalorian let out a sigh as he rubbed at the back of his neck. His Charric was strapped to his hip. He'd installed a different kind of stun setting for it, given the usual Charric was just burning the target to the point the pain stopped them from moving. Which wasn't a good idea. Last thing he wanted to do was actually hurt anyone. So it'd stun. But still have the same force behind it that made the Charric unblockable by a lightsaber.

Eliz turned his helmed gaze around. Still no armor, but his buy'ce was at least over his head. "So, how do you guys wanna handle this?"

Be careful what you wish for.

” The nerd stays here.”
Caltin did not think of Cato in a negative light, frell, the kid seemed to embrace the four-letter word, so why not? So he grabbed, the survival pack, and secured his lightsabers in place. Yes, he was carrying them, not looking for a fight but in case things went south. That was the nature of the big guy, prepare for the worst, expect the worst, respond to the worst, be surprised at the possibility of the best. Taking a rappelling line, he made his way to the door. He already had a plan in his head, it would be nice to explain it.
I’m going up in the world. If you want to come with me, I welcome it. If you want me as a decoy, that’s fine too. I’m good regardless.
He was not around for the RakGhoul infestation, but the big guy had been to Taris in the past and had more than enough experience around them. This was not something he wanted to revisit, but he knew the game and he knew these two buildings. The crane was the way he wanted to go, and there was something he knew that maybe the others might not think of. Grabbing the Silver Spear that he brought, Caltin was not going to stab anyone, but more as a pike. This was only a game, otherwise, he would just carry “Conservator” and “Vanguard”, but if the Mando over there is loading his own slug-thrower, who is to say that those on the other side aren’t doing something at least similar?
Cracking his knuckles and neck, the massive Jedi Master put on some climbing gloves as he looked around to see if anyone figured out that his codespeak meant he was going up to the 10th floor. All things considered, the climate was pretty cool out there, so it might actually be fun. The route he was taking was one of the worst, but he was going to make the best of it, and maybe make a couple of memories for everyone to take with them. When it was decided who would go where he'd head right for the up turbolift and go to the roof.
It was windy but that was okay, it added to the challenge. Looking across the dilapidated beast of a machine, the big guy just took a deep breath and began to climb onto the machine in preparation to cross.
...YOU JUST HAVE TO REACH FOR IT.

Mig leaned against the wall, checking his modified weapons. His blades were replaced with stun weapons, even his Hissing Ghosts. His Trayc’kad was modified with some practice sleeves, and locked into stun mode. This would be an interesting game for sure. The Force wielding Mandalorian was ready for some fun training, or at least fun to him.

He looked at the others, chuckling a bit at Cato’s question. He then eyed the others, noticing Caltin seemed to have his own plans.

“No, you don’t just have to stand here. I’d say you and someone stealthy pair up. As for everything else.... The bridge is too easy, honestly. Open. Above and below are probably the best bet we have. As far as who goes were... well I’m from an ag-world, so mud and stink aren’t a problem for me. Though if anyone has a better plan I’m all ears.”

Mig looked around, trying to read the others. He had his helmet off for now, and hoped that someone else would speak up with a slightly more solid plan. He had a framework, but he didn’t want to take full charge of anything. This was team training after all.

Beltran knelt next to one of the windows, over looking the deserted streets below. From this vantage, he could get some idea of the other building. Since the exercise was intended to take place primarily indoors, there was a limit to what he could learn from this approach. It felt strange for the Ranger to be out of his Katarn Armor, but in close quarters like these, the better range of motion granted by his armored BDU's would be far more advantageous.

Glancing around at the others, Beltran took stock of his teammates. He caught the eye of Cadere Cadere and nodded to the younger man. Jedi Tynen was one that Beltran had been on operations with in the past. He was a good man, perhaps a little impulsive, but good at what he did. He also offered a nod to the young Padawan Kuxirra Tano-Bonteri Kuxirra Tano-Bonteri . She had provided his team with on the ground intelligence on Circumtore and that had proven very helpful. How she would fair as a combatant in this exercise, he had no idea.

He also recognized Jyoti Nooran Jyoti Nooran , but did not know her very well. She had led a team during the battle of Nar Kreeta, and she had survived that hell. So she was probably imminently capable. The others he didn't know. Some were Jedi, others Mandalorian. He had heard of Kreslin Westwind Kreslin Westwind , the leader of the Mandalorian Union but that was all reputation. Though anyone who claimed the title of Mand'alor and didn't immediately get his head blown off probably had skills.

"So, how do you guys wanna handle this?"

That was Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt , the VIP that their team had to protect. Other than being a Mandalorian, Beltran knew nothing of the young man.

"To my mind," Beltran replied. "There are a few options. We could make for the bridge and take control of it immediately. It's a valuable piece of real estate and probably grants us a decent vantage over the swamps and from the crane above as well. If we do that, it would probably be best to put the bulk of our forces into securing that. Another option is to detail a small stealth unit to take the swamps and attempt to sneak behind the enemy lines. Once done, the main force could attack as a distraction. Both ideas would require us to commit essentially all our forces and would leave Mr. Krayt here vulnerable. We could also hole up somewhere secure and let them come to us. That way we choose the place of battle and we can provide maximum protection to the VIP. A little passive for my taste, but it could work."

First thing's first was to set his lightsaber to its training settings. Accidentally slicing someone's leg or arm off would be... embarassing to say the least. Once that was done, Cas flicked his lightsaber hilt into the air before catching it again and placing it onto his belt before glancing around the area, examining his other allies. A mixture of Jedi and Mandos was an odd one, but he'd seen stranger before - although, the sucky thing was the fact he knew literally no one on his team. Except Beltran, whom he grinned at and returned his nod with a lazy salute. It was comforting enough knowing he at least had an idea on how Captain thought.

Fidgeting with his left glove, Cas turned his thoughts inward, toward the opposing team he and the others would be facing. Of course Cato Harth Cato Harth and Sakadi Marathi Sinvala Sakadi Marathi Sinvala were on the opposite team, juuuuuust his luck. Though, it only took a second for a grin to creep on his lips, him and Sakadi were... on some kind of terms right now, maybe facing his former Master down would do the two some good, airing out some grievances the old fashioned way never hurt anyone. But Cato, Cato was another story, the two were of a similar mindset and he knew the Jedi Knight was as eager to get his ass kicked as much as Cas was eager to kick it.

"So, how do you guys wanna handle this?"

The Kiffar's head turned to face Eliz, the kid they were supposed to be protecting during this little game. Naturally, being the guy he was, Beltran laid out a plan with another suggestion from Kuxirra. "Well, I'm not really a 'plan' kinda guy. Usually. But, if you need some kinda diversion I volunteer. Just let me get a crack at the Sephi on Blue Team." Cas shrugged nonchalantly, it was kind of amusing that everyone was treating this so serious despite what this actually was.

A training exercise usually wasn't all that fun, but one involving both vode and jetii. That most certainly would be, and it wouldn't be onesided. It would've been for the Mandos had it been Mandalorians versus Jedi, but it was a mix of both, so things were even. That was the reason Adenn hadn't shown his usual assortment of weapons when they'd divided their teams up, to give them less of an idea as to what to expect. As such, having made his way back to their 'base' or building, Adenn began to retrieve his weapons.

Placing them in their respective spots was second nature by now, so Adenn allowed his gaze to travel over his compatriots. He knew a fraction of those here, and only one to any true degree. That one individual was Mig. Grinning at his fellow Mando, Adenn let his gaze continue as they began to speak. He knew the other Mandos as they were Supercommandos, his Supercommandos. But otherwise, not as well as he'd like. The jetii he knew nothing about, so he didn't know how they operated. But the one known as Caltin seemed to be a warrior. Certainly had the image, and the size helped, though Adenn and he stood even for height.

Hefting his shield into his hand, Adenn allowed his musings to end as he took final stock of his weapons. They were all set, with everything in easy reach and ready to be deployed at a moments notice. Either by Adenn's hands, or his extra robotic arms. With a smile on his face, Adenn took a step towards the group, all set for war. Thumping Cato on the shoulder with his free fist, Adenn spoke up with a chuckle.
"Of course we're trying to kill each other. We won't actually do it of course, but that's the point of these things. Prepare the mind and body for war, when everyone wants everyone else dead." Laughing, Adenn motioned to himself, a literal walking arsenal and tank. "These are weapons of war. I'm a weapon of war, all Mandos are. We'll just make sure no one dies by the end of this."

Nodding to Caltin and Mig.
"Good plan ner'vode, pincer manuever essentially." Turning to Caltin, Adenn grinned. "I was planning on using the crane as well. Frontal assault is my preferred thing, but who expects a tank from the flank? Plus, I think it's the route Darlyn's gonna take, and I want to smack him around again." Chuckling, Adenn directed his attention to everyone. "Mig'll need backup on his Swamp flank, and some sort of diversion wouldn't hurt. Dealing with any attacking over the bridge that is. I doubt anyone crossing via the crane will go unnoticed, too open for that, but the swamp is ideal for an unseen flank. Perfect to go for the VIP, or hide our own. All that really matters is which route you want to take."

It was a plan, that's for sure. Mig on flank, along with whoever else chose to go there. Caltin and Adenn on crane, plus anyone else. That would be a more visible distraction, and then obviously anyone on bridge to hold back a frontal attack, or make their own distractions or attacks. It was a plan, just a general distraction and attack, while leaving plenty of room for flexibility. Adenn could've given more orders, detailed the plan more, but he was interested to see what the others would do. And this was so others could fill out their boots, so Adenn would let them. But decades as Alor, then Battlemaster, and now Red Hand prevented any mindset but command off the field, and frontal combat command on the field. Regardless, it would be interesting to see what would happen, and it would certainly be fun to smack some unfortunate soul around.

Kreslin was not entirely sure about this whole enterprise. When the original plans were being crafted for this joint training, he had debated on whether or not he would take part. In the end, he decided there was nothing really to lose, and committed to the idea. He knew only a few of those in the room, mostly Mandalorians from the Union that had journeyed to the world with him. He stood to one side of the room, near enough to Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt that he could see the excited glint in the youths eyes. The objective for today was to protect him from the other team, but that did not suit Kreslin. He needed to see the youth in a fight, and the best way to protect him would be to make him a moving target.

As the others began to lay out their plans, Kreslin turned his eyes to a simulated projection of the the buildings they would be fighting across. Immediately, he was inclined to push for either the bridge or the crane. Controlling the central avenue of advance and the high ground would afford them supreme tactical advantage. That reasoning was also why they were likely to meet the most resistance there. Kreslin did not know much of how Jedi fought and planned their wars, but Kreslin knew his Mandalorians. They would take a direct approach to things if at all possible.

Never taking his eyes from the map, Kreslin brought his arms up and folded them across his chest before speaking. "I agree with the Jedi Kuxirra Tano-Bonteri Kuxirra Tano-Bonteri that Eliz would be safest on the move. It will prevent our opponents from doubling down and surrounding a singular location. As for other tactics, playing defensively leaves too many variables in the hands of our opponents. I suggest another option." Turning, Kreslin came to stand beside Eliz, glancing down at the youth for a moment before turning his red visor back to the rest of the room.

"I suggest a three pronged attack. Teams of two will move on each of the avenues of approach, and gauge the strength of the enemy force there. Once we have located the weakest segment of our foes attack, we bring the rest of our force down hard, and break through. With one avenue completely under our control between the two buildings, we will be able to spread out and search for the opposing target. At all times Eliz should be covered by two of our force, to ensure the enemy does not get lucky. This plan would stretch out our forces in the beginning, but I believe it will allow us to secure the most amount of intel on our opponents in a expedient manner, as well as provide a chance for us to decisively turn the tide."

Remembering Wildflowers

"Is someone gonna keep me company?”

Risen stepped behind Cato like a shadow in the doorstep. Like so many missions before, he directed his focus on the safety of this…

VIP, Risen forced himself to think. If he didn’t see Cato as a valuable asset in his own mind, then he wouldn’t defend him like one in the fever of battle. So Risen shoved down a number of other descriptions that came to mind.

He looked between the Jedi Masters present, and watched as one made his brisk exit. The chain of command here was tangled, hazy. It reminded him of capture-the-flag back on Dathomir, where you got thrown into a squad at random and let the best leaders rise to the top. Even back then Risen rarely stepped forward for that conversation: he wanted the front line, not the back rank.

Games like these — training exercises — served a dual purpose. They kept your soldiers spry, let you try out new tactics in a place where serious loss of personnel wasn’t an issue. But it also let you monitor a soldier’s state of mind. Risen wondered if this was the Jedi’s way of monitoring his condition after what happened on Voss. They’d kept him out of combat while he recovered, and he wondered dimly if he was being evaluated.

Thoughts like those never crossed his mind back when he was just a soldier. Now, though… he didn’t know what he was. But he wouldn’t show weakness if he was being watched. Despite everything, Risen longed to get back in the fight.

He snapped his attention to the Mandalorians — Gred and Kyramud, if Risen remembered right. He’d made sure to learn all their names in case callouts were necessary, but studying wasn’t his strong suit. Even now he cringed at the thought of some nosy slicer (one came to mind) finding the copy of Easy Memory Tricks and Techniques on his lender datapad.

Their tactic was sound, though it left teammates unaccounted for. In this type of scenario it was expected that everyone voice their strengths. And although Risen longed to join the others up among the winds — and although he’d spent long years training in acrid swamps — he’d already set his mind. He spoke up in his low, breathy voice.

“I’m sticking on the VIP. If anyone breaks through, I’ll deal with the threat or buy him time to get away.” He looked at Cato — a pain, but one he’d almost shared his dying moments with — for confirmation.

Felt like home.

Those were the words that stuck in Darlyn's head as he flexed his hands, anticipating this bout of friendly violence. This suit of armor, it was hard to explain to others, to areutiise. The way the armor rested on him, though he could feel the weight of the dense beskar plates, felt effortless to carry around. Every time he put the armor on, it really, honestly did feel like a second skin. A skin he couldn't usually wear, for want of his day job, but one he would often find an excuse to don, if only for the comfort it provided. But today, he was going to get the chance to again don his 'gam against a good opponent. Test its metal again.

He craved it.

And now, standing in the southern building, strapping each of his belts around his body after carefully counting each and every explosive device with a childlike glee on his face. His buy'ce was tucked under his arm as he did so, letting his tangled red curls stay free just a while longer. Everyone had their own thoughts and opinions on what to do, and frankly considering he knew none of them by name nor reputation, save the fact one of them had claim to a most special title, he really didn't care. The young boy was asking for a plan, the ranger offered ideas, the Padawan suggested a compromise, and Mand'alor suggested testing the enemy before committing their forces.

As he secured the last belt of detonators to himself, making himself quiet the supply of explosives, he finally spoke up to the group. "Well, Mand'alor, your plan does seem the most likely to supply ourselves with the pertinent intel to make a plan to fully commit to. The only flaw is if their VIP is on the move as well, they might have a similar idea. Regardless, whatever you all do, I'm just going to go punch my Brother-In-Law in the face until either he stops moving or my hand breaks. Then I'll elbow him."

He put his buy'ce on and fastened it into place, breathing slowly to savor the moment just a moment longer. That palpable tension, before a shot has been fired. Fighting both alongside and against his vode was something he just, never stopped missing. But, he couldn't just savor this moment forever, the time to break the tension was already here as far as he was concerned. And so, he simply turned towards one of the windows, making sure the jetpack was secure, before waving behind himself.

"At kote, vode. See you when we win!"

And then he was off, with a full on sprint and dive out the window. As usual, it took Darlyn a moment to get the pack working, before he got it to ignite properly and send him rocketing up the side of the building. He wouldn't be taking too long to get there, with any luck before Adenn. He did, after all, pick the fastest method to go up five floors. Why take the elevator, when have jetpack?

Truthfully, Taozi did not understand why she had agreed to this. She was able to fight, yes, but she was not a combatant. She was a doctor, not a fighter! Sure, Mig Gred Mig Gred was here, along with Adenn Kyramud Adenn Kyramud joining him, albeit on the other team. Darlyn Excron Darlyn Excron had also decided to- Oh. Now she remembered why she agreed to this.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were probably the most likely to commit voluntary manslaughter on one another.

As she sat and listened to the others on "Team Red" prattled on about the best plan to win, Taozi sat in the corner, checking over her med-pack. Bacta patches, bacta shots, kolta alternatives, bandages, and the kitchen sink for when Adenn and Darlyn inevitably blew each other up if Darlyn's sixty-four thermal detonators were anything to go by. And possibly when some foolish padawan bites off more than they can chew.

Whichever came first.

It seemed at this point the team had a plan, even if Taozi would have no part in it except keeping the others functional. She stood from her place on the floor and pointed at the window Darlyn had just left through with her thumb.

"That seems like a fine plan Mand'alor, but with all due respect I'm only here to make sure Darlyn and Adenn don't accidentally murder each other. If any of you need me for medical aid, I'll be where they're at. Though, a word of advice to you all before I head to the roof... Don't get in between that duel. I'd rather not have to patch any of you back together."

Taozi slung the med-pack on her back, and made sure her buy'ce was snug on her head, before casually leaving the others behind and beginning her casual stroll up the stairs and to the rooftop.

It was comical really. The historic Jedi hunters working with their previous prey to hunt down their own Mand'alor. It was a relief from the seriousness of war which gripped the galaxy but more importantly than that, it would benefit both sides in their military efforts. They would learn their own allies' strengths and weaknesses as well as gaining invaluable skills or learning which need more work. The Mandalorian certainly expected something to be revealed today as his skills were put to the test.

The Mandalorian was largely removed from the ongoing conversation. As one of the more submissive members of his group, he was content with being given orders and acting on them, though with mixed teams it was difficult to tell what the chain of command was. All he knew was he firstly answered to Adenn.

Ki'an sat near the group, a handful of darts on the floor beside him as he swapped out the poison darts in his vambraces for tranquiliser ones. While he had the antidote to the poison, that route was a little too intense to take with an exercise. With that in mind, everything else had been set to stun though not much could be done about the flamethrower most Mandalorians had attached to their wrist. They didn't want anyone physically roasted but they would be roasting the red team if they lost.

Once he was finished with the darts, he got back to his feet and joined the group towards the end of the conversation. "I'll go with Mig." He replied. Ki'an was not oblivious to his own abilities and he was not equipped to launch an attack on the frontline of the bridge so supporting Mig seemed like the more sensible option, given his own stealth. However, all the Jedi could utilise the Force but only a minority of Mandalorians were able to do the same so they had that advantage.

Of all Mandalorians and Jedi present in the building, she definitely seemed the most out of place. She was one of, if not the shortest of their team and she appeared to be the most frail by far. Oh, how looks could be deceiving.

It was the ease and elegance she moved with, the tranquility she radiated and the ever present tight-lipped smile that made her look frighteningly ready for what was to come. With her hands behind her back and fingers laced loosely, she studied the Mandalorian who so carefully laid out his equipment for a moment, before her attention shifted back to the conversation at hand.

With a slight wave to the others and two soft taps against her temple, the Jedi Master hoped to give everyone present a heads up before she 'spoke'. Communing from mind to mind was considered an unpleasant experience by some, but sadly she had no other option today.

"A pincer attack is a brilliant idea. But for the record…" She turned to Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor and Adenn Kyramud Adenn Kyramud first. "Master Vanagor and Alor Kyramund are heading for the crane…" She spun around to face Mig Gred Mig Gred and Ki'an Vizsla Ki'an Vizsla next. "The two of you will traverse the swamp…" She placed a finger against her chin, eyes shifting to the ceiling. "So that means I should probably head for the bridge, doesn't it?" Somebody would have to hold the line. Plus, if the stubborn Kiffar ( Cadere Cadere ) on the opposing team would take a path, it would probably be…

"Oh, and I apologize for my intrusion in your minds. My voice is not what it used to be. Therefore I won't be able to use a comlink either. You can still reach me through it, but I'll reach out like this instead." Sometimes it was a blessing and sometimes it was a curse. She hadn't settled on what her disability would be today yet. "And don't worry. I don't read thoughts…" She would cast a glance back at Cato Harth Cato Harth , mischief slightly glimmering in her lilac eyes. "At least not all of them..." This was bound to be an interesting game.

"Before I forget…" She turned to the Mandalorian clad in red ( Ki'an Vizsla Ki'an Vizsla ), who had finished swapping out his equipment. "Can I borrow one of those?" The Sephi pointed at one of the cylinders on his waist. One she recognized as a stim.

There can be only one...

Stealth Armor (I have to jet to work soon, so I'll post up a full equipment log on my next post)

Times had certainly changed for the Silver Jedi and Mandalorians since her time as Grandmaster. Back then, she and the previous Mand'alor had been at each other's throats on the verge of total war, but now the Echani rubbed shoulders with the new one over a budding alliance between the Concord and Mandalorian Union.

Amusing to think about, but she certainly welcomed Mandalore on the side of the Jedi for a change.

While the rest of her team began to discuss tactics, she remained quiet, listening along as she appraised the composition of their unit. There was roughly an equal number of Jedi and Mandalorians. The composition for Blue Team was about the same, but they were more top heavy with Force Masters. That included her former apprentice, Allyson Locke Allyson Locke who was fresh from campaigning against the Sith - she would definitely have to keep an eye out for the sneaky specialist.

Fortunately, kilometers of overgrowth that wormed through the dilapidated buildings provided a perfect counter to the stealthy technopath.

Perhaps it was an inverse situation when it came to the Mandalorian allocation, as her team featured Kreslin Westwind Kreslin Westwind himself. One didn't get to be Mand'alor by being a slouch in combat and strategy. Having him so close provided a great opportunity for analysis.

Before she could offer input, Darlyn Excron Darlyn Excron was already out the door - or through the window, in this case - soaring to the rooftops for a predetermined duel.

Sith spit. So much for being tactical.

"Darlyn," she called over comms. "While you're up there, be a dear and tell us who you see crossing over as you engage in fisticuffs."

"Anyway, I agree it would be ideal to do some probing," she continued with the rest of group. "Though while we are testing our opposition, I recommend that our VIP and their guard detail remain stationary on the building, preferably on an upper floor above the bridge. We also need to secure the stairwell and turbolift. That's something I can do with the surrounding fauna." She looked to Cadere Cadere . "In fact, if thee's anyone willing to play possum on the ground level, they could corral opposition into my grasp. As for the bridge itself, it would be best to post up one or two people in windows to oversee the bridge and keep any crossing opposition pinned. That's no man's land."

Not only could she gunk up the major access points through the interior, she could make trouble for anyone traveling on the lower levels through the swampy floor.

"One last thing," she while pulling out a pair of bulky wristbands from her duffle bag. "It would be preem to disguise our VIP...these are holoshrouds. At least for a time, we could throw off any retrieval teams and lay a trap."

He listened to what his vode and the Jetiise had to say as they discussed what it would be best to do. He looked at his fellow vod whose armor was painted with white and a blue detailing when he spoke.

He concurred with his thoughts regarding the routes to choose. He was geared up to traverse in the swamps, but he would have still very much enjoyed a frontal assault.

He turned his face towards his vod clad in Red and Black painted beskar’gam, featuring a Kama, Pauldron, Cloak and Jetpack. It was The Red Hand that spoke his mind now. His Alor Ori’ramikad was armed from head to toe. He would not expect anything less from his Alor.
He nodded in agreement to what he had to say in response to their VIP. Their armor, weapons and training were all meant to kill their opponents in the most effective way possible, especially against the Jetiise. The Mandalorians and the Jetiise had an ancient history between them after all. They had fought each other countless times, and probably would continue unless an alliance of some sort was struck between the two.
So, the big Jetii he saw scaling the building earlier and his Alor would take the upper flank. That’s good. If the opposition were to focus their efforts using a thrust from the middle could potentially be left exposed from fire above. And considering the number of weapons and gear his Alor was carrying around, the height advantage over the opposition team could prove to be devastating for them. He would most certainly join Mig. He assumed it was the vod that was clad in white and blue colored beskar’gam as he saw his Alor look at him when he spoke his name.

“I’m sticking on the VIP. If anyone breaks through, I’ll deal with the threat or buy him time to get away.”
He glanced at the jetii wearing simple garments to his left. He was tall and muscular, but he did not spot a lightsaber on him. Strange. He never thought he would see a jetii without their iconic weapon. Instead of a lightsaber he carried a type of Wan-shen. He also saw he was carrying a dagger. He had volunteered to keep the VIP safe. That was good. The VIP would need protection as they fought in the frontlines, but he wasn’t sure if they take the VIP with them or hide him somewhere or just have him stay here, in the Blue Team HQ.

Ki'an sat near the group, a handful of darts on the floor beside him as he swapped out the poison darts in his vambraces for tranquiliser ones. Once he was finished with the darts, he got back to his feet and joined the group towards the end of the conversation. "I'll go with Mig."
He looked towards the Mandalorian wearing a Red and Grey colored beskar’gam that also featured his clan sigil at his right shoulder. It was his fellow vod, Ki’an. He was going with Mig, presumably to the swamps. He would certainly join them there if that is where they were headed.

"A pincer attack is a brilliant idea. But for the record…" She turned to Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor and Adenn Kyramud Adenn Kyramud first. "The two of you will traverse the swamp…" She placed a finger against her chin, eyes shifting to the ceiling. "So that means I should probably head for the bridge, doesn't it?"
He heard someone speak, but not verbally. It was an inside voice. Female at that. He looked around to see who it was, but he was not sure to who it belonged to. He never experienced something quite like this before.
Could the jetiise also read minds? If so, how many of them were capable of this power? Maybe not all the Jetiise was capable of this, but would he be able to develop a countermeasure to block them out of his mind? He did not know, but he would certainly look for some answers to these questions. The idea of knowing what your opponent’s next moves, reading his mind like a book, was very advantageous. He was somewhat glad she was on their side, whoever she was.

[“I’ll come with you to the Swamps as well.”] He spoke as he glanced at Ki’an and Mig. [“Shouldn’t be too hard to find a good vantage point overlooking the Swamps. The buildings by the swamp are also covered with vegetation. Should be sufficient enough to hide my silhouette further.”] he spoke as he holstered his Scatter Gun under his hooded poncho and reached for his wrapped Westar-M5. He adjusted the collapsible stock of his rifle to a degree that would accommodate him. He held the rifle over his right shoulder as he spoke. [“I’m not sure to whom that intruding voice in my mind belonged to but, wouldn’t it be hard to hold out all by herself on the bridge? Is anyone going with her?”] He glanced at his fellow vode and jetiise as he inquired. [“Potentially, The Red Hand could provide some covering fire for her from the top, unless he’s locked in melee or a firefight erupting at the crane.”]

Be careful what you wish for.

Sounds good to me, it will be good to have some backup to keep me out of too much trouble. He said with a smirk and a wink. If the Mando’s could play nice then so could he.

At the roof, Caltin watched as one, looked to be Mandalorian judging by the jump pack, and probably a part of the other team was there as well. What was he planning? That was the million credit question, and Caltin could force the answer. What better way than jumping into the rickety bucket of bolts and begin to cross it. Of course, this could probably draw out the response from the other side, as he wanted, but the big guy hoped that they weren’t that dumb. He didn’t think that they were.

Of course, who is to say when a Jedi is climbing to the very top of the crane to run across it. As the massive Jedi Master balanced himself and indeed centered himself in the Force. If anything, this was going to be fun, and he had experience manipulating falls in mid-air so this was not a first. The big guy could feel the presence of several in the area, he could even feel the faint presence… what was that? It almost seemed like a connection of death somehow. It was distracting for a moment, but off in the distance so hopefully, it would not be an adverse effect on everyone involved.

There was something he had seen on the other… it looked like some kind of bandoleer and while he did not know for sure what he saw, Caltin was not going to take a chance. If Sakadi could reach everyone’s mind, then so could he. Listening to the wind, he could hear the howl of Rak’Ghouls and it annoyed him as he reached out through the Force.

~”Two things everyone, Rak’Ghouls are not as far away as we think, and the other is that this crane is coming down today, and it won’t be because of age.”~

Anyone who knew him knew that could be the cause of it, but he wasn’t going to look for the opportunity. Other people might…

Like you…

Quiet.

You ARE!

… anyway as I was saying, others might, but he won’t.

...YOU JUST HAVE TO REACH FOR IT.

Sakadi's telepathic message and mischievous glare caught Cato off guard, his eyebrows raised higher than what one would think humanly possible. Not the retort he’d have expected from the quiet Jedi Master. Though it was probably a bad idea to willingly force oneself to wade around in whatever qualifies for a coherent thought process in Cato’s mind.

The smirk on his face, however, soon faded as Risen came to take his place by Cato’s side once more. “C’mon Risen. When’re ya gonna give a guy a break?” He didn’t actually hate the man or anything, and the two went through nigh-literal hell together on Voss. But they were inherently clashing personalities; He’d hoped at least by now that Risen could recognize Cato’s snark was, more often than not, lighthearted. The knight shrugged his shoulders, and took a step back, “Works for me. He’s a good distraction. And bodyguard. I don’t even have to pay him!” There was much more to Risen than meets the eye, and that smirk couldn’t help but pull back at Cato’s face again at the thought of their opponents being met with the few he had up his sleeve.

The thud of Adenn’s fist hit his shoulder, and Cato responded in kind, then pointing at the Mandalorian with mock accusation as he assured them no one would be dying, “I’m gonna hold you to that! My lawyers are on speed dial.” He then followed up on Mig’s suggestion as well, “I can do quiet. Usually. When I want to.” If Cato had one goal today above winning the exercise, it was getting the Mandos to understand his sense of humor. Hopefully his teammates wouldn’t chuck him off a building first.

The team seemed to have their plan settled, a pincer attack to close in on the opposing VIP, with a few heavy hitters, or at least just one heavy hitter right now, holding at the bridge to prevent a direct assault. Cato turned once again to Risen, “You’re surprisingly quiet, no? What say we play hide and seek with my would be captors?” He asked, spinning once around one of the building’s support pillars, before leaving the group with one final message as they split,

“Oh, and Risen says if we win, he’ll buy the whole team dinner tonight! Ain't that sweet?”
