STRENGTHS
  • Dark Force Enhancements: Oiche, in one half of the weapon, provides a powerful boost to the use of the Dark side, by making feats of darkness already capable of being produced by the user more powerful and potent, and therefore require less energy for the same result.
  • Enhanced Blade: Oiche, in one half of the weapon, provides the blade with an enhanced cutting potential, making it louder and angrier. Note that this does not mean it can treat resistant materials as normal metals, only that it finds cutting through things in general to be easier.
  • Bound Together: When thrown, or otherwise sent airborne, each saber is naturally drawn to the other, creating a potential boomarang effect without requiring the user to actively draw it in.
  • Multi-Stage Saber: This lightsaber has a multitude of forms available. Each blade can be turned on independently, each half of the weapon can be split apart, creating two separate weapons, the hilts include a dual-phase function to allow the blades to be either extended to one-and-a-half times the size or shrunk down to a shoto, and the curve-hilt feature allows the hilts to be shifted from straight hilts to curved hilts with the push of a button, providing multiple different choices in combat.
  • Light Side Anchor: Solas Buan, in one half of the weapon, provides an anchor for the Lightside of the Force, allowing the user to produce any lightside abilities or effects more easily depending on their devotion to Light.
  • Force Conduit: Solas Buan, in one half of the weapon, allows the user to more easily fill themselves with Force based enhancements such as Valor, Body, Speed, or other such powers.
  • Bright Blade: Solas Buan's lightsaber blade is unnaturally brighter, producing a sharper sound to it. On contact with other lightsaber blades, it produces momentary flashes of light akin to a camera flash.
  • Calming Effect: Solas Buan produces a slight calming effect to incite more focus. This effect is only slight however, and does not force the user to calm if they do not wish to, nor does it negate a stressful situation.
WEAKNESSES
  • Balance: Due to each crystal's conflicting nature, their ability to anchor and enhance either light or dark abilities is directly related to the user themselves. Darksiders possessing the half containing Solas Buan will gain very little, even if they can call upon some Light side abilities, and similarly a Lightsider wielding Oiche's half will gain little if any benefit.
  • Connection: Breaking either crystal will destroy the other, thus rendering the entire weapon useless.
  • Force Light: Due to Oiche, Force Light can cause the weapon to destabilize due to the dark crystal weakening. In high enough quantities or for prolonged exposure, this could even cause the crystal, and the weapon, to break, potentially with cataclysmic results if it was turned on at the time.
  • Beacon: Solas Buan's signature, while contrary to Oiche, is none the less a very potent beacon in the Force, preventing this weapon from being able to be hidden from Force Sensitives.
  • Shiny Shiny: Assuming of course that they don't notice the songsteel weapon due to its luminescent material.
  • Combined Hilt: The full, combined weapon's hilt is only somewhat larger than a normal, single bladed lightsaber hilt. While practice means it can be held and used just fine, it does not provide any potential leverage that a full saber staff would.
  • Split Hilts: Coincidentally, each individual half of the split saber also suffers a similar problem. Only being big enough to accommodate one hand vastly limits the power the split sabers can put into strikes, reduces the user's leverage, and means that losing either half of the weapon is all the more devastating.
  • Cortosis: Contact with Cortosis will still short out the lightsaber for a time.
  • Water: Being submerged in water will short out the lightsaber. Similarly it cannot be activated while underwater.
DESCRIPTION
It took some time for Darlyn to acquire a suitable lightsaber crystal, or rather two, for the construction of his new weapon. Nothing short of perfect could suffice, and he spent quite the time refusing to accept crystals rather than seeking any. However, after an event on his beloved's homeworld, he acquired them, both of them, and set to work immediately with Auburn to create their new weapons. His instruction was vital to creating the lightsaber components out of Songsteel, as Auburn's people never created them before, and the process took quite some time. However, once they finished, the songsteel parts were perfectly forged. Together they had designed the basic hilts, and took their own time to create the ornamentation seperate from one another.

For Darlyn's part, he chose to make the songsteel gently etched, however the main ornamentation into the hilt pieces were carefully cured, cleaned, and cut tarentatek bone. Like a mark of pride, he wanted to show both his ability to conquer such beasts, and respect by making full use of the body as best he could. The bones themselves weren't venomous, so they would help to add to the beauty of the weapon itself. The inlays of bone were carefully sealed, to protect the bone, and he even created small designs into the bone themselves before doing so to make sure it was clearly intentional. After making these hilts perfect, he rojoined Auburn to instruct her weapon's creation, before setting to work on his own.

It took far longer, as his weapon was simply more complex, with more moving parts. However, the result was well worth it, a weapon that was as versatile as he could dream of, and with two potent crystals to match. Together, he ignited the first weapons of Auburn's people, with his loud, angry purple blade, and the high, sharp pitched brilliantly white blade alongside. Light and Dark, something they could be proud to have made together.
