SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Ejectable grappling hook: A grappling hook could be fired from either one of the vambraces. An electronic engine could pull them back in. The denym rope which the hook was attached to was strong and resilient enough to carry a heavy load.
  • Phirk: Mainly consisting of phirk, the vambraces were extremely resistant to lightsabre attacks.
STRENGTHS
  • Lightsabre resistant: The vambraces were made out of phirk and could be used to block lightsabre attacks, keeping its wearer safe under circumstances which would easily have resulted in severed hands otherwise. The many bumps ridges of the vambraces ensured that a lightsabre which had hit it wouldn't simply be able to slide up or down to cut off the body part next to it.
  • Grappling hook: The vambraces were equipped with grappling hooks. These could be used to reach spots which would have been hard to reach otherwise. They could also be used to ensnare a foe.
WEAKNESSES
  • Who is really trapped?: Without any mechanics to detach the grappling hook, it's properties could be turned against the user since there were bound to it as much as the person they tried to ensnare.
  • EMP: If hit by and EMP, the electronic properties of the grappling hook would require a restart before being usable again.
  • Expensive: Phirk was extremely expensive and rare. There is a reason that one pair of vambraces was made and if they were lost, they would be extremely hard to replace.
DESCRIPTION
It was in the early days of Phaseera Manufacturing's history that they received a special request. To make a pair of vambraces out of an extremely rare and precious metal sent to them. The company had a policy of not taking on jobs with anonymous buyers - but this was an opportunity which they simply had to take. The experience of working on phirk and the payment offered for doing so was seen as way too sweet an offer to turn down.

It was a long project - getting the vambraces to be thin enough to not encumber the user was a challenge and without any room for mistakes, the entire process took two years to complete. The finished product matched the specifications of the order to the point. The design was well thought through and had never needed any amendments.

Grey in colour, the vambraces looked rather simple at first glance. In truth, they were rather meticulously designed with enough ridges and pumps to ensure that a sabre which had hit the vambraces could not slide on to cut another part. Instead, it was likely that the sabre would have to be pulled away from the vambrace for another swing. Naturally, the effect was not quite the same as the one of a sabre lock, but it was still a significant part of its function.

Not all vambraces had tools attached, but these ones did. Unlike what was more common, both vambraces carried the same tool. A grappling hook. It allowed the user a great deal of mobility and could also be utilised in other ways. One of the more obvious ways was to use the grappling hooks to ensnare an opponent - but in that scenario, a clever opponent could try to use the new physical bond to their own advantage. And if hit by an EMP, the vambraces' functionalities in regards to firing the hook and pulling it back in would be taken out until a restart.

To Phaseera Manufacturing, it was a mystery. They had no idea what had happened to the vambraces after they were sent off to the mysterious entity who had ordered them. Some thought that the design looked like what one might expect from Ord Mantell, which is what birthed their name. But in the end, it was hard to tell. More than a century later, they resurfaced on the company's radar, this time in Cas Tynen's possession.
