PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The OS-129 "Delphi" Military-Grade Portable HUD and Scanner is a miniaturized piece of technology based the previously released OS-106 "Oracle" Portable HUD and Scanning Device, but designed increased ruggedness, higher processing power and a wider variety of military-applicable features.
    • It provides the following features:
      • Ability to scan the area within a 75 meter radius of the wearer’s position for unmasked life-signs, unshielded power signatures/weapons systems and radiation
      • Ability to switch between night-vision and infrared/thermal vision, as well as the ability to increase and decrease the tint to filter out regular light
      • Ability to zoom in on a specific area with the maximum magnification that equals a military standard issue pair of macro-binoculars
      • Ability to mark beings with identification tags (e.g. Hostile, friendly, intentions unknown, as well as specific identification such as the person’s name and affiliation.)
      • Ability to connect wirelessly to the local Holonet terminal and to run information searches there
      • Basic and encrypted comlink with built in vox modulator
      • The ability to tie in with other "Delphi" HUD systems within a 75 meter radius and share scanning data
      • The ability to monitor the user's vital signs and transmit that data in real-time within a 75 meter radius
      • The ability to extrapolate the original point, with an accuracy of within two meters, of incoming blaster or projectile fire within a 150 meter radius
      • The device is controlled using subtle eye and facial movements, which while effective once learned, can be very difficult to master.
STRENGTHS
  • Portable: The OS-129 provides the user with a small, lightweight scanning device that is worn over the eyes. While slightly heavier than the OS-106 predecessor, it is still easy to store and wear.
  • Versatile: The OS-129 provides the user with a variety of scanning and detection features, the ability to mark targets/friendlies, an encrypted comlink, as well as the ability to access the Holonet, as well as increased scanning range over the OS-106 model and the ability to share scanning data with other "Delphi" units.
  • Rugged: All of the components have been built to be extremely durable so as to stand up well in the harsh conditions of combat situations.
WEAKNESSES
  • Limited range: The OS-129’s features can only operate within a 75 meter radius of the wearer’s location though they can be extended using “Hermes” Scanning drones, which can be controlled using the Delphi's eye/face interface
  • Difficult to use: The OS-129 is controlled using a subtle series of facial and eye movement commands, based loosely on the Lorrdian non-verbal language known as “Kinetic.” For non-Lorrdians, this device has proven to be difficult to master as even the slightest mistake can cause the device to enact incorrect protocols. Once mastered, however, users have stated that the device’s command interface is very intuitive.
  • Low-Power Scanning: The device uses low power, passive scans that, in addition to limited the range, make it very difficult for it to break through electronic countermeasures. The vast majority of modern jamming technology will render this device completely ineffective.
DESCRIPTION

Built as a successor model to the OS-106 "Oracle" Portable HUD and Scanning Device, the OS-129 incorporates all of the previous models features while adding fifteen meters to the base scanning range. In addition, it provides the wearer the ability to wirelessly share scanning data between units-essentially turning each wearer into a form of scanning drone. In addition, the unit can track the wearer's vital signs and transmit data to other units. As well, the unit uses an extrapolation algorithm to backtrack the origin of incoming weapons fire, allowing operators to quickly determine the source of attacks made against them. Finally, this unit has been built with rugged components to increase it's durability, as well it's casing has been lined with an inert power insulator to provide additional protection from ION/EMP damage.
