Trask Black Market
The Mud Duck settled onto the docks of Trask with its usual creaking rattle, the old freighter giving one last groan as the engines powered down. Braze waited at the top of the ramp for the vibrations to stop, eyes tracking the movement of cargo cranes against the bleak sky. Everything smelled of salt, metal, and low tide...
No one came to Trask's shadow docks by accident; He had come as a buyer.... At least, that was the story.
The message from the Pyke contact had been short leaving his missive rather simple in theory. Redirect the pickup. Head to the Lower docks, and ask for the handler then collect the shipment. Most runners would have shown up, taken the crates, and left. Braze had no intention of doing any of that.
He stepped down the ramp with a slow, steady pace, the plastifoil order tag tucked inside his sleeve. The docks below were alive with motion. Containers grinding along magnetic rails. Haulers shouting over engine noise. Thick mist rolling in from the water and clinging to the structures like a second skin. Somewhere in this chaos was a hidden spice operation. One bold enough to move raw un refined product in volume. Gidgit peeked out from the satchel at his hip, tiny antennae twitching at every clang and hiss. Braze rested one hand on the droid for a moment pushing it gently back down before moving on.
"Lower stacks," he murmured, reading the subtle push in the back of his mind.
If they thought he was here to just pick up a shipment, they would let him right into their nest. Buyers always saw the product before money moved. Buyers were led straight to the heart of things.
It was perfect.
Braze adjusted his cloak and walked deeper into the maze of containers, boots echoing softly on the grates. Every step brought him closer to the shadows between the stacks, where dockworkers pretended not to look and strange shapes moved behind thin walls of steel. He was here to break the ring apart from the inside. And if the whole place came crashing down by the end of the night? Well… the Mud Duck could always outrun the fallout.
