OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a vambrace mounted tractor-pressor beam projector for use by Breshig War Forge Consolidated, Strill Securities, Mandalorians and select others.
  • Canon Link: N/A.
  • Permissions: N/A.
  • Primary Source: Tractor beam and pressor beam.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • HUD Targeting and Datalink: The weapon syncs with the user's HUD and links to it to provide current ammunition, a crosshair and range indicator as well as diagnostic information about the weapon.
  • Two Modes: The projector can be switched from tractor beam mode to pressor beam mode with a press of a button or through a connected HUD interface.
  • Optimum Range of 25 meters.
  • Maximum Range of 50 meters.
STRENGTHS
  • Tractor: The tractor beam generated from this projector can pull or hold in place objects from one to three meters in diameter, depending on the object's weight, velocity and local gravity.
  • Pressor: The pressor beam generated from this projector can keep objects from one to three meters in diameter away from the user depending on the object's weight, velocity and local gravity.
WEAKNESSES
  • EMP/Ion: While resistant to EMP/Ion damage, any damage that does actually get through will fry the projector's circuitry like a protato in a deep-fat fryer.
  • Power Hungry: The projector itself doesn't come with its own power supply, and instead must be connected to the power supply unit of whatever armor system's vambrace they're connected to.
  • Indiscriminate: The projector's beam affects whatever it's aimed at, and has no way of shutting itself off so as not to cause friendly fire. Which is more of a problem with a continuous beam weapon such as this as compared to a traditional weapon.
  • Shroud: Reflective materials, shrapnel and atmospheric conditions that have a similar effect can render tractor and pressor beams completely useless.
  • Extremes: The effectiveness of the device is affected by three factors; the object's weight, velocity and local gravity. Extremes or very high values in any of the three aforementioned categories will cause the projector to overload and then shutdown.
DESCRIPTION
There are several answers to the age old question of, "there's a force sensitive in my face, and they're waving a lightsaber around, what do I do?" Presuming death was not the immediate result, one of those answers is to get them out of your face. There are multiple ways to go about this, one would be to add vertical distance between yourself and you the lightsaber wielding individual you had a disagreement with. The other option, however, would be to put some horizontal distance between yourself and said force user.

Breshig War Forge Consolidated's TBP-01V Tractor-Pressor Beam Projector's pressor beam mode push targets out to 25 meters, and can make it difficult for targets out to a maximum of 50 meters to approach. Alternatively, it's tractor beam mode could be used to close distance between a target, or act as a makeshift grappling hook, or can simply be used to retrieve a previously discarded object out to approximately fifty meters. The effectiveness of the device is affected by three factors; the object's weight, velocity and local gravity. Extremes or very high values in any of the three aforementioned categories will cause the projector to overload and then shutdown.

There are a few issues with the device. The projector itself doesn't come with its own power supply, and instead must be connected to the power supply unit of whatever armor system's vambrace they're connected to. The beam that's generated affects whatever it's aimed at, and has no way of shutting itself off so as not to cause friendly fire. Which is more of a problem with a continuous beam weapon such as this as compared to a traditional weapon. Finally, reflective materials, shrapnel and atmospheric conditions that have a similar effect can render tractor and pressor beams completely useless.
