GENERAL INFORMATION
Unit Name
: Eisenkrieger. The official name is Cyborg Assault Unit. This is boring, so few people use it.
Affiliation: Archangel Research and Design, Iron Fist Consortium, Revenant Industries, Typhos Clone Family, Neda Chazzak, Enyo Typhos.
Classification: Cyborg Infantry.
Description: The Eisenkrieger are a unit of Cyborg infantry that serve Enyo Typhos and her associates. They consist of a mixture of mercenaries, former street toughs and veterans, usually from now defunct governments, or bounty-hunters. Every member of the Eisenkrieger has been endowed with cybernetic implants, though the degree of augmentation varies. They follow Enyo because she has proved herself to be a capable - and very ruthless - leader. Though fairly small, they make up for their lack of overwhelming numbers with their extensive training, equipment and discipline.

Enyo lives a rather Spartan life and has no interest in creature comforts. Thus a lot of what she 'earns' through her legal and illegal business ventures is invested back into her organisation. Corruption is quite low since she uses droids to do the accounting. As a result, she is able to pay her minions quite well. At the same time, she has no tolerance for disobedience, incompetence or lack of discipline. Processing is preferred to execution because it is more efficient. Though not really motivated by ideology, the Eisenkrieger take pride in their work and occupy an elite status in the Consortium. This sets them apart from the criminal organisation's common legbreakers. It is pertinent to note that their cybernetic implants also give Enyo a degree of control over them, as she is a powerful technopath who is very skilled in the application of mechu-deru. Ironically, her belief that metal is superior to flesh has rubbed off on the Eisenkrieger to a degree.

It is pertinent to note that while the Eisenkrieger have undergone cybernetic modification in one way or another, they are still individuals with their own thoughts, desires, aspirations and so on. The reasoning for this is quite simple. If Enyo wanted more droids, she woud simply build them, instead of lobotomise organics and create substandard bots. The Terminatrix has forbidden pointlessly cruel and ineffectual practices such as decimations. In her view, they are self-defeating and simply a way to shift blame.

The Eisenkrieger are commanded by Neda Chazzak, a Zabrak mercenary from Kuat. Neda has low class origins and was conscripted by the One Sith after they occupied her homeworld and she ran afoul of the law. Faced with the choice between jail and army, she chose the latter. After given some basic training, she was thrown into the meat grinder. Neda thrived in this brutal environment, fighting the Republic, Alliance and other enemies of her Sith masters. She became a blood knight who relished combat, while sending money back to her family. She rose to the rank of Sergeant. However, when the One Sith fell apart, she had no desire to go down with the sinking ship. So she shot her political officer, a diehard zealot, and became a soldier of fortune.

Eventually her paths crossed with Enyo, when the Cyborg started taking over gangs in Lower Coruscant. At first Neda disliked the upstart. Neda participated in Enyo's first raid against Archangel. There she acquitted herself well, but was injured while helping her boss take down a giant war droid. Having come to appreciate her prowess, Enyo rebuilt the Zabrak...and made some subtle alterations to her mind to make Neda more obedient to her. Neda is unaware of this but has served Enyo ever since. She accepts the implants as something that has her stronger and more resilient.

The Zabrak is a commanding presence, but more approachable than her stoic boss. She takes a casual enjoyment to warfare that more peaceful beings would probably find disturbing. To her warfare is a talent she has spent his entire life honing into an artform that she thoroughly enjoys. She is no sadist, but revels in the thrill of battle. She still sends money home to support her kin and visits from time to time. On those occasion, the topic of what she does for a living and what happened to her arm is tactfully avoided. Neda is a heavy weapons specialist, with an affinity for weapons that make things go boom. She also has a repulse hand and is a potent melee fighter. She is well-versed small unit tactics warfare and close quarters battle. As a team leader, she does not suffer fools and will not hesitate to have someone who's a liability beaten or, if need be, summarily executed, but she'll stick with them if they do their job well.

Taron Halmarn is an
Eldorai male and a senior member of the unit. Taron has low class origins and grew up in the autocratic, misandrist Eldorai Matriarchy. The defining experience of his life was the Eldorai Exodus. Unfortunately for him, he was one of the Forsaken and so he bore witness as a cataclysm ravaged his homeworld while the exodites escaped. The desolation of his homeworld and the First Order occupation left him embittered, but being forced to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland also hardened him. Once a leader of a band of Eldorai exiles, he was later captured by Archangel. Fortunately for him, he was rescued in one of the Consortium's early raids. Given the chance of getting revenge on his captors, he joined the group.

Taron feels strong hatred for the ancien régime and is not too well-disposed towards the Shadow Knights. He used to be a political activist, but is now more interested in receiving a good pay cheque. Taron is a capable operator and a skilled marksman with a talent for sniping. In battle he focuses on terminating high-value targets to throw enemies into disarray. Steely eyed and determined, his marksmanship and senses have been enhanced with cybernetic implants. Disdaining the physical weakness and low pain threshold of his race, he has undergone significant augmentation to compensate for these frailties. He holds Eldorai who believe he has defiled himself in contempt. Has a dark sense of humour. Taron has a vindictive side, which is particularly apparent if the group happens to tussle with Eldorai monarchists.

Kruaka is a Wookiee and an assault team leader. Cunning, strong and ruthless, she focuses on close quarter combat. In addition to the weapons common to the Eisenkrieger, she still utilises her hereditary bowcaster and a traditional Wookiee blade. She is also fond of disruptors. In contrast to the stereotype, she wears armour in combat, as exposed fur is rather flammable. Kruaka has turned against the honour code and traditions of her people, viewing them as outdated. She made a career out of enslaving those who had preyed on her race - and in the process became their mirror image.

Kruaka worked with Ser Grrowh, a Wookiee warrior turned slaver and crime lord of the Buccaneers, for a while. However, she came to dislike him due to his greed and decadence. In accordance with her role, she has received implans that inject her body with stims to control pain. Her augmentations also grant extra strength, resilience and better sight. Kruak is known to be one of the harsher officers when it comes to keeping her warriors in line. Neda tends to send hard cases from among the recruits to her since she is good at breaking them in. Those who make it through her training stand a better chance or surviving in the field because she drills them thoroughly.

Guraal is a lungless Gand mercenary. He was a bounty-hunter until having a falling out with the Findsmen, then found work as a legbreaker. He was brought into the fold after the mafia boss he was being employed by was taken down by Enyo. While a capable commando in his own right, his true specialisation lies in his skills as a sapper. He is very skilled in hotwiring vehicles and doors to slice security systems, designing and implementing explosives to maximum effect against structures, vehicles or people. He is also a highly skilled tracker. Because Gand are naturally tough, his augmentations are less extensive than those of many of his comrades. The insectoid bodies of his people are covered in chitinous exoskeleton, which provides natural, durable armour. Quiet fellow who takes a lot of pride in his work, but quite friendly. Sometimes baffled by the customs of non-Gand. He's a very good Sabacc player.

A human male called Roderick Rundleman is the head machinist of the unit. Cybernetics require repairs, after all, and he is very good at maintaining equipment and vehicles in general. He's responsible for making sure that the implants of the Eisenkrieger are working properly. In that capacity he supervises the machinists who carry out repairs and upgrades. He can also study any tech the Eisenkrieger might acquire on their missions. Roderick is actually an HRD. This makes him particularly loyal since he cannot choose to disobey. Roderick was a prodigy hired by Enyo to help advise her on technology. However, while undoubtedly brilliant, she found his arrogant attitude irritating. So she decided to process him since it seemed like a reasonable way to retain his skills without having to deal with his smug personality. He is a lot more obedient now and has stopped hitting on Enyo's younger sister Thuella.

Combat Function: The Eisenkrieger are an important component in Enyo's private army. They are an elite force of assault infantry. Their cybernetic implants boost their physical capabilities, making them stronger, faster and tougher warriors. Perhaps even more importantly, they also enhance their coordination as a unit. As a result, their attacks are well-coordinated. Training and brutal attrition have forged them into an effective fighting force. They are ideal for raids, urban warfare, establishing bridgeheads and seizing enemy strong points.

However, they are not a large unit and thus can be overwhelmed by enemies who may lack their skills on a one-on-one basis, but can overrun them through force of numbers. Thus they will require support from allies in large engagements. Because Enyo is not interested in controlling large planetary domains, she favours small elite groups of mobile and well-equipped strike forces that can hit hard and get out quickly. This is reflected in the combat philosophy of the Eisenkrieger, as they focus on speed, aggression and firepower.

The Eisenkrieger have access to Fenris Cyber Mastiffs. These mechanical hounds are extremely fast, ferocious and terrifying at close range. Their agility, strength and ferocity makes them fearsome melee combatants. Moreover, they make good scouts. They are commonly deployed in packs. However, they lack ranged weapons and thus need to get into melee range to hurt an enemy. With a limited brain, the Fenris carries out orders it is given, but shows little adaptability or initiative. It will charge an enemy by the most direct way. Being a droid, the Fenris is vulnerable to ion, lightning and other droid killers.

A number Asclepius HRDs have been assigned to the Eisenkrieger. Like all HRDs produced by Archangel, they are based on an organic template. Their exterior organic, which is seemingly that of a human or humanoid being, conceals a machine. The Asclepius is programmed to act as a highly skilled medical droid, which is able to perform both basic operations and complex surgeries. Their job is to tend to wounded soldiers. They can also replace or repair damaged cybernetics, though this obviously has to take place away from the battlefield.

An Asclepius droid is not a dedicated combat model. It can use personal weapons, but is not programmed to use heavy weapons and its physical strength is that of a fit organic of the race it is impersonating rather than superhuman. They cannot feel pain and do not tire though. The Asclepius HRDs are also used to ensure prisoners stay alive, especially if they are being subjected to torture. The Asclepius is quite good at that, too. A number of ARD X-1 HRDs have been assigned to the unit down to squad level. These replicants commonly serve as security droids, bodyguard unit, and advisors for officers in the field. Being droids they can work day and night, and cannot feel emotion or get tired. Thus they can keep watch and patrol when the organics have to rest. This increases the life expectancy and efficiency of a unit and its commander - and keeps an eye on them.

Strengths:

  • Cybernetic implants endow them with incredible strength, speed, durability, stamina and reaction time compared to a normal human and boost their pain tolerance. Their implants allow them to communicate nonverbally and they benefit from enhanced awareness.
  • Elite infantry. Well-trained, equipped and disciplined. Gunships can provide close air support and they have armoured transports that can burrow underground.
  • Access to Fenris cyber hounds. They are very fast, strong, ferocious and frightening.
Weaknesses:
  • Limited heavy weapons and lack support forces such as tanks, artillery and so on. This is a problem if they face an enemy who deploys aircraft and heavy combat vehicles in significant numbers, especially in an open battlefield with little cover. Being infantry they are vulnerable to long range bombardment. Their main protection against air strikes are portable missile launchers, which is pretty variable, and the Hellmaw's concussion missiles. The gunships that can deploy them into a combat zone are very durable, but about as manoeuvrable as a bus. The drop pods, while heavily armoured, are vulnerable to starfighters while in transit and have only a limited ability to perform course corrections. The Hellmaws are versatile and heavily armoured, but slow and most of their weapons are short-ranged. Meanwhile, the Razormaws are good infantry shredders and can move underground like their bigger cousins, but their armaments are mostly useful against infantry and light vehicles.
  • Small unit. They are an elite strike force, not stormtroopers, and thus risk being overwhelmed in larger engagements.
  • The Fenris is vulnerable to ion, has limited intelligence and lacks ranged weapons, meaning it has to get into melee range to hurt an opponent.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

While Enyo Typhos rebelled against Archangel and the genocidal machine cult's plans for her, she did not entirely abandon their beliefs. Indeed, the machine cult had been more successful at influencing her world view than she would admit. One of those views she retained was that in many ways machines and cybernetic organisms were superior to mere flesh and blood beings. Thus it was only natural that Enyo surround herself with a corps of cyborgs after founding the Iron Fist Consortium, which is both a mafia and a tool for her to avenge herself against Archangel and claim what she considers to be her birthright. It helped that Enyo was an organic-machine hybrid herself and had become proficient with the esoteric technique known as mechu-deru.

Thus the Eisenkrieger were born. Their members were chosen through Darwinian selection. In other words, attrition. Minions who proved themselves in gang wars or raids on targets such as Archangel bases were inducted into the group. A number of the 'Iron Warriors' are veterans of the Sith-Republic War who for this or that reason could not adjust and found themselves in the underworld. Others are street rats who showed promise and rose in the ranks of the gang, distinguishing themselves in the eyes of the boss. Others again are victims of Archangel who signed up because the ruthless hybrid offered them a shot at gaining revenge. Regardless of their origins, they were rewarded with cybernetic enhancements. Some of them only appreciated this gift after being subjected to intense indoctrination.

While cybernetics are common in the Iron Fist, the Eisenkrieger receive more sophisticated ones, often personally created by their boss. These range from cybernetic limbs to adrenalin implants or say a mechanical heart to increase performance. These augmentations make them deadlier combatants, but also allow Enyo to control them due to mechu-deru. Promotion and access to more sophisticated implants is based on merit. With the help of Neda Chazzak, a former NCO in the One Sith Army who deserted during the Galactic Alliance conquest of Coruscant, and the Valkyri berserker Ylva Wolfsbane. Enyo forged them into an effective fighting force. Alas, not every recruit survived the process, but as Ylva would say, they made good sacrifices to the Goddess Ear.

Their training empathised cohesion and discipline rather than lone wolf actions, making them more reliable than the average goon of the Consortium. In return, they were rewarded with better pay, better gear and loot. Discipline was tight and methods of enforcement range from corporal punishment to termination of individuals who manifest behaviour that make them a liability to the unit. They tended to acquire their gear on the black market or by looting raid targets. Pillaging on missions is also a way to supplement their pay, making it part of the paramilitary organisation's business model.

At first, the unit was mainly held together through fear, promise of booty and action. Enyo was unused to being a leader and had to prove herself, keeping her minions in line through a mixture of fear, discipline, respect and skill. She was also negatively affected by the trauma she had endured at the hands of Archangel. This made her capricious. She did not trust her men, as many were sellswords and cutthroats. Thus she was at first a bit too eager to punish subordinates.

When an Eisenkrieger refused to eat his food and threw it an officer, Enyo quietly ordered his unit to form rank, picked a firing squad, had the offending soldier shot, and then made the entire company file past the corpse. An officer accused of stealing money was publicly hanged. As one Sergeant said, "You can be certain of getting everything you have a right to, you can be sure that she knows where's taking you and what you're capable of doing. But as for how she treats you, Maker help you if there is anything missing from your equipment, or if you rifle is dirty or if you are a loafer."

Discipline remained strict, but Enyo learned when to reward and when to punish over time as she grew into her role and became more confident. Experience transformed her into a disciplined, focused leader. There was very little malice in what she did. She just regarded most organics as pieces on a board. Her henchwoman Neda gave the corps a mentality of brutal ruthlessness. She felt a fierce pride in their grim reputation and disregard for 'civilisation'. Both she and her boss were disdainful of 'gentlemen criminals'. When one of Enyo's business partners was taken for a tour of the barracks, he found a unit of Eisenkrieger awaiting inspection with heads mounted on bayonets. They once sent Thuella a basket of apples and blood oranges, in the centre of which lay two severed heads. Enyo came to recognise their notoriety as a useful tool.

Enyo favoured the Eisenkrieger and also used them as an instrument of control inside the mafia. This was the cause of jealousy on the part of the common goons, and led to rivalries, even on the battlefield. But it also fostered an esprit de corps amongst the Eisenkrieger, improving cohesion within the unit. The Eisenkrieger became more skilled through participation in raids against Archangel and in gang wars. Enyo relied on them when she expanded her mafia to Vorzyd, battling the native criminal mafias there.

To raise funds, she became a private contractor for the Sith Empire, aiding their expansionary ventures. The Eisenkrieger were not present when Enyo helped the Sith in destabilising the Dominion's rule over Mirial by participating in a dark ritual that resulted in hordes of undead swarming the planet. However, they were there for the cleanup. The Empire wanted to depict itself as a stabilising force by fooling the beleaguered natives into thinking that they were protecting them against the undead.

Eisenkrieger were active as contractors, dealing with zombies and Mirialan rebels. Cleanup duties were interrupted by a Silver Jedi invasion. Though not prepared for a full-scale war, the Eisenkrieger acquitted themselves well, rallying around their commander when they faced the Silver Jedi force. In the aftermath of the Sith victory, some Mirialans were recruited into the unit. They did not know that their new boss had played a role in their planet's recent calamities. Later Enyo would lead the Eisenkrieger to Thyferra, where they fought Galactic Alliance troops in a search and destroy mission - and naturally took the chance to loot. When Enyo made a deal with the Shard Contingency, agreeing to support their vengeance crusade against the Galaxy if they supported her own vendetta against Archangel, the Eisenkrieger were deployed to Archangel's secret base on Elysium.

While the Contingency's armada wiped out Archangel's fleet, the Cyborg warriors battled Archangel droids on the surface. Led by Enyo and Amara, they were able to penetrate Archangel's defences. Casualties were significant. Neda herself was injured fighting an HRD and even Enyo did not escape unscathed, losing an arm fighting Maelion Liates. However, Archangel suffered a tremendous blow. One of its two leaders was slain by Enyo, the Consortium was able to loot Elysium Base and blow it up. Moreover, Enyo and Amara were able to rescue several of their clone siblings. Ironically, Enyo later betrayed the Contingency and helped an unlikely coalition slay their leader. In all fairness, Onyx was probably insane.

Closer to home the Eisenkrieger saw action in Lower Coruscant when a cabal of bioterrorists masquerading as a think tank called the Galactic Sustainability Trust accidentally released a virus. The territory the Consortium considered to be its bailiwick was thrown into chaos. Gang wars broke out, and some Consortium bosses used the chance to assert herself. Enyo's response was ruthless. The area was quarantined, and she worked together with a Sith called Farah, a doctor and a clone of the Zeltron businesswoman Joza Perl, to thwart the cabal and secure Patient Zero. The Eisenkrieger provided the muscle for this operation. They imposed quarantine policies, culled gangs that caused disorder and helped their boss secure the cabal's laboratory.

While plotting to raid a Phrik mine on Gormas, Enyo and her followers came across the Kraal, who had ironically come here with the same agenda. While Enyo's 'sister' Amara Zarides and one of the Consortium's cyborg Force acolytes used stealth to sneak up on the Kraal transports and sabotage them, Enyo and the Eisenkrieger ambushed the lizardmen. They were able to prevail in the fight. Then Enyo, Amara and Ylva defeated three champions of the Kraal clan, whereupon the lizardmen retreated. This earned Enyo an invitation to Karakorum, the Kraal homeworld. A detachment of Eisenkrieger accompanied Enyo to the desert planet, where she negotiated with the Kraal Imperator.

To prove herself, she had to bring them the head of a massive wurm. Said wurm was lured into an ambush with a bait that consisted of slaves wired with explosives. Weakened after devouring its explosive meal, the wurm came under fire by Consortium soldiers with heavy weapons. However, the wurm did not go down easily, swallowing several Eisenkrieger. Enyo herself was pulled into its maw, but managed to cut her way out with her lightsabre thanks to being made of Phrik. The trophy was presented to the Imperator, who granted Enyo permission to recruit some of his people as mercenaries.

These ferocious warriors would soon get the chance to prove their worth, for Archangel retaliated. Having lain low for a long time, Moira Skaldi had made an alliance with Contingency remnants and acquired some of their technology. Archangel had also carried out raids against Eldorai exodite communities in order to acquire more processing materiel to fuel its war machine. The Consortium's base was overrun by Archangel forces. Enyo and her followers were forced to retreat. Realising that Archangel had grown more dangerous and was working on a new, dangerous weapon, the Cyborg reached out to an Eldorai exodite group called the Shadow Knights. Neither side trusted the other, but they entered an alliance of convenience.

When the time came, their combined forces launched a desperate attack on Archangel's secret base. The Eisenkrieger fought on the ground and in boarding actions, battling war droids and Shards. Kraal and Shadow Knights were deployed alongside them. A psychic weapon deployed by Archangel, based on Contingency designs, affected the minds of a number of them, turning them catatonic. However, eventually the unlikely alliance was able to prevail.

With Moira Skaldi dead, Enyo took control of Archangel. She put an end to its genocidal schemes, though by and large the business model remained unchanged. She did not want to wipe out all organic life, but at the same time felt little empathy for most organics outside of her family. The Typhos Clone Family was born, taking the reins of power. Neda was rewarded for her loyalty by being placed in command of the Eisenkrieger.

Enyo's next order of business was an internal purge. Her focus on her private crusade had meant that she'd had to delegate most of the day-to-day affairs of running her criminal enterprises to her lieutenants. Naturally a number had taken advantage of her distraction by enriching themselves, not paying tribute or plotting with rivals. Fortunately for her, her chief lieutenant Wes was secretly an HRD and thus loyal to her. Enyo decided to clean house. One of those who died was Alexei Yerevan, a Dark Jedi and opportunistic businesswoman who had sponsored her in the early stages of her crusade. He had probably not expected her to actually take over the corporation.

The internal purge also affected some Eisenkrieger units. Some officers had grown too close to the mafia bigwigs they were supposed to keep an eye on. By and large, the corps stayed true to her though. Its loyalty had been forged in fire and blood. The fact that she was in a far better position to pay them also helped. Because Enyo disliked wastefulness, she preferred processing or enteching her purge victims, as she was a strong believer in recycling.

With her authority asserted, Enyo folded the Consortium into Archangel's power structure, though officially the two groups remained separate entities. After all, Archangel was a respectable droid manufacturer. The Eisenkrieger's role evolved. Working alongside Enyo's droid forces, they protected Archangel assets and were sent on mission to eliminate competitors and procure advanced technology. Archangel's infrastructure had been damaged by the fighting and so the Cyborg needed to rebuild it. It did not take long for her to take an interest in the Contingency's abandoned stronghold in the Rishi Maze. Thus the Eisenkrieger and their droid comrades embarked on a mission to secure SX-192 for their shadowy boss.

While I am sure that you have permission to use this tech submission, could you please explain how the unit has permission to use it? You don't mention the Omega Protectorate nor Firemane in this submission

[member="John Locke"]

OOCly I have permission to use the tech submission in question because I write Firemane's owner, [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"].

ICly Archangel was founded by former senior members of the Protectorate (written by [member="Valiens Nantaris"], the submitter of the Boltgun, and myself).
