Description:
The Cobra-class is the main line gunship produced by ArmaTech Combat Systems. Taking pages from existing designs and ArmaTech's overall philosophy of Durability in equipment, the Cobra was made with that purpose in mind. Carrying troops to the ground is important, and making sure they get there is even more so. Originally designed with heavy armor and shields the original model was denied by the Board of Directors, despite being fairly well armored and armed. They demanded stronger armor and defenses before they were willing to push the vehicle into production. To counter this, a dual shield generator was fixed to the gunship and additional armor was welded, bolted, and riveted into place to provide the sustainability the Directors required for such an important role.

The ship fills the roll of a Fire Support Gunship as well as a light troop transport, designed to deliver soldiers to hot zones and perform non-landing insertions, the ship comes equipped with repelling winches, or for ArmaTech troops, anything under one hundred meters is safe to rely on jump packs alone without much time before they hit the ground. Furthermore addition equipment may be carried on a magclamp on the rear of the vehicle which holds the equipment against the hull until released then it is lowered via a power winch. This provides a level of support such as dropping additional ammunition or medical supplies to soldiers on the ground.

For its armament it focuses on multipurpose, using heavy laser cannons as its primary armament allowing it to preform moderately well against medium vehicles and support against heavy vehicles. Two droid controlled Anti-Personnel Laser Cannons are set on the nose and aft of the gunship to assist in clearing enemy personnel from landing zones or when acting as fire support, and the aft laser allows it to fire on enemy aircraft giving chase. It features two General Purpose Warhead Launchers for its primary missile weapons and then two multi-rocket pods carried seventeen fusion rockets each, which were limited to Air-to-Ground rockets for supporting allies on the ground. For defense it uses a pair of chaff launchers and a pair of flare launchers. In addition the ship has a 4x-Phantom Sensor Jammer allowing it to jam the computers of an enemy ship, providing it with defensive capabilities on the way to battle, and offensive capabilities when fighting as it can partially blind its opponent. This is capable of hiding the ship fairly well against enemy sensors at long range, though some more advanced sensor modules will still detect it. In combat the module is capable of scrambling the sensor data and targeting data of one ship at a time, though more advanced sensors and targeting computers, or the computers of larger more complex vessels such as capital ships are more than capable of powering through the signal jamming beam being used.

Alright... the weaponry is a bit on the high end, this does appear to be a gunship/dropship hybrid. And, considering the large size of the craft and that it's moving at light freighter/corvette speeds, I think it balances out against the low squadron count of 8.

Beyond that, there are a lot of bells and whistles worked into this submission, including a bit of Ewar. Even without the hyperdrive, it's a bit much to be sliding through without a dev thread.

So, to better balance this out against other designs that are on the market, can I get a 15 post dev thread for this?
 
I've Made some Edits; reducing its passenger count and making a few options further reduce this number.

The Phantom's main jamming unit was a dedicated energy receptor projector, or DERP, capable of absorbing and blocking incoming long-range sensor pings, thus rendering the fighter invisible to most enemy sensors.
by using broadband transmissions to interfere with sensors attempting to target the fighter. The Phantom also contained a row of static discharge panels made for scrambling communications and sub-space frequencies. This allowed the device to not only jam incoming sensor pulses but also to jam a target's outgoing signals.

I'm aware of the average limitations on a Gunship's armament.

And I'm aware of how that particular sensor jammer functions.




Also, the examples you're using are very, very old. The issues I had with the submission were not in regard to the armament, but in the multi-role nature of the craft combined with the general complexity of the submission.

Reducing the passenger capacity helped to balance this submission greatly, but this submission still offers a great deal of advantages over the two primary comparison submissions (the Hell Hawk and the Mandalorian Gunship, both of which are of a very similar size, role, and armament). Based on those advantages, I'm still going to need 10 posts of development before I can approve this submission.
