    BIOGRAPHY
    ___________________________________________________

Near the end of the Great Galactic War, Czerka Corporation sought to piggyback off the reputation of their successful Hunter-Killer assassin/protocol droid line and transition them into a more widely accessible market: personal protection. They envisioned a security/protocol variant of the HK droid that could be marketed toward government officials, business owners, nobility and other high-end customers who may require spectacular performance in both an office and in danger. The DAC-1 (Diplomacy. Assistance. Combat.) prototypes were built off the limited production HK-51 droid and paired it's already successful etiquette & relations features with cutting-edge security protocols, at the expense of the advanced autonomy that was needed for assassin droids.

DAC-1.P028 was the 28th constructed prototype of the discontinued specialty line. P028 saw a five-year period of testing beginning in 3665 BBY when he was gifted to the
Resurgent Sith Empire for an extended trial. During this time, he would serve Imperial Intelligence rather plainly, guarding high-ranking officials and occasionally being put among the retinue of a Sith ambassador. At the end of the trial it was decided by Czerka Corporation that the DAC line, having not generated sufficient interest, would be cancelled and the prototype models de-activated and shelved indefinitely. The remaining DAC-1s were recollected, boxed, labelled as protocol droids to avoid their true purpose should they fall into the wrong hands, and then placed into storage facilities. There P028 would remain for over a millennium, until he was discovered in 2438 BBY by Magetha Grayson of the Jedi Order.

Re-activated and re-programmed to accept the Jedi as his master, P028, or “Dak” as Magetha called him, began his new life in the fires of the raging
New Sith Wars. From that day forward, as decades passed by and enemies rose and fell, Dak continued to serve generations of House Grayson as a loyal guardian. That is, until 19 BBY at the Declaration of a New Order. This changed the galaxy in ways no one could have prepared for. In an instant the once revered Jedi were condemned for treason and became the victims of a witch hunt, forced into exile in a galaxy they had spent years fighting to protect. The knowledge of the Graywall, the Grayson family’s ancestral home, was lost in the Purge -- taking Dak with it.

Once more centuries would pass, this time locked deep within the ghost halls of House Grayson. It wouldn’t be until 851 ABY that the young Jedi Master
Cedric Grayson would rediscover the Graywall while seeking knowledge of his ancestry. Inside, the ancient droid still remained, ready to continue his service. Although, much had changed since he last woke. The galaxy had seen devastation the likes of which he struggled to comprehend and the House he'd served was reduced to just one man. In addition, the extended time spent in hibernation had changed the old droid. New feelings and thoughts emerged from the tearing seams of his previously shackled intelligence, and with them came unfamiliar struggles of identity and purpose.

    STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
    ___________________________________________________
+ Artificial Construct: As a droid, Dak does not require sleep, food, water or oxygen to survival, and he does not become fatigued from prolonged activity. Due to the artificial nature of his mind, he also possesses the ability to download and manipulate protocols to improve and/or alter his own function, and his body is significantly more durable than that of [most] organics.

+ Forgotten: Because of the era and limited nature of his construction, it would be extremely unlikely for someone to recognize his model and purpose. Being an unrecognized model can allow Dak to better hide his security capabilities when acting as a protocol accomplice, if necessary.

+/- Aged Frame: The term "they don't make X like they used to" is often used to describe something having been better in the past. But when it comes to droids and a few millennia, this is not the case. In the last 4,000 years weapons have become stronger, armour more durable and technology far more advance, and Dak is well behind on all of it. He will require many upgrades and modification to be brought up to the standards of modern equivalents.

    - Faulty: Because of his age and numerous periods of prolonged hibernation, some of Dak's software and hardware have worn down and require upgrades. The most notable consequence of this degradation has been significant corruption in his memory banks, which has fragmented much of his past.

    - Do Droids Dream of Electric Sheep?: No matter how advanced the replication may be, Dak is a droid and therefore some may argue that he does not possess legitimate sentience. This may not always be obvious when interacting with him and one could easily forget that he is the product of advanced cognitive simulation, but certain concepts manage to go over his means of comprehension.

    THE GALACTIC ALLIANCE

    original.gif
The Galactic Alliance is a lightside-aligned federal republic that combines elements from the Clone Wars-era Galactic Republic with the old-school aesthetic of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances from SW Legends. Our faction offers many opportunities for writers who are interested in protecting the rights and freedoms of sentient beings across the galaxy, taking part in overarching narratives, and getting involved with an active community on the board.

Join the ranks of the army, navy or starfighter corps in the Galactic Alliance Defense Force to fight on the battlefield or command your own forces against the enemies of the Alliance. Pledge yourself to the New Jedi Order and become a guardian of peace and knowledge, strengthening your connection to the Force and/or mastery of the lightsaber while protecting the galaxy from the corrupting forces of the dark side. Take on criminal enterprises across the Alliance’s systems and abroad as an Alliance Marshal, Sector Ranger or as an agent of the Strategic Intelligence Agency. Or, represent an available planet in our player-driven Senate and debate on important matters, vote on actions, and even change the way the Galactic Alliance operates in-character.

For more information on the Galactic Alliance, read through the other tabs available on this page. If you have additional questions or suggestions, don’t hesitate to reach out to one of our staff members!

    THE GALACTIC ALLIANCE

"A peaceful Galactic Alliance is the strongest pillar of a peaceful galaxy."
    Luke Skywalker

The Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, commonly referred to as the Galactic Alliance or simply as the Alliance, is a federal republic of systems united under democratic rule and bound by laws defined in a Common Charter. Reconstituted through the union of the Core Alliance and the High Republic, it serves to promote prosperity and security, to protect the rights and freedoms of all sentient beings, and to stand against injustice and the forces of tyranny across the galaxy. For many sentients throughout the Core, the new Galactic Alliance brings a promise of hope in the devastating wake of the Great Galactic War — hope for a new era of opportunity and freedom from the scars left by the Imperial Bloc and the Core’s many other ruthless oppressors.

    THE FEDERAL ASSEMBLY

Located in the historic Senate District of Galactic City, the Federal Assembly is the political stage and heart of democracy for the many worlds of the Galactic Alliance. Divided into three primary branches: the Senate, the Chamber and the Office of the Chancellor, it is through these institutions that the Alliance's politicians and representatives work tirelessly to promote the rights and freedoms of their people, establish and seek out new opportunities, and endeavor to restore the Core Region to its former glory.

The Senate is the legislative branch of the Galactic Alliance's federal government. It is made up of thousands of congressmen (senators & representatives) who represent sectors, systems, planets, and even powerful corporations & guilds within the Galactic Alliance’s borders. From the massive Senate Building at the center of the district, the members of the Senate commune regularly to deliberate on important topics, lobby for changes, and to introduce, review & submit bills to the Office of the Chancellor to be signed into federal law. In addition to these tasks, the Senate acts as a supervisory council that oversees the executive branches to ensure they’re conforming to the guidelines of the Common Charter. Because of the large numbers of congressmen and women present, countless committees and lesser councils exist throughout it that focus on specific topics and push for different agendas. However, among these small and often unimportant group, several informal political factions have emerged and gained more significant recognition. The largest and most influential of these unofficial parties are undoubtedly the Populists, Centrists, Corporatists and the Imperial Bloc (which are each covered in more detail under the Political Factions sub-tab.

The second and third branches of the Federal Assembly: the Chamber of Ministers & the Office of the Chancellor, operate out of the district's Executive Building and make up the federal government’s executive authority. The Chamber is composed of eight appointed Ministers who are selected by the Chancellor with the approval of the Senate. Each of these Minister oversee one of the Alliance's eight federal Ministries, which themselves govern specific domains of public administration. These domains are: Justice, Defense, Intelligence, Labour, Commerce, Health, Agriculture & Education. The Ministries and their respective chambermen coordinate with one-another to facilitate the day-to-day function of the Galactic Alliance and the many projects of the Federal Assembly. The Office of the Chancellor, headquartered in the Chancellor's Suite of the Executive Building, consists of those members of the federal government who are directly subordinate to the Chancellor, and aid them with the administration of the government and its staff. Notably, the Office would include the Vice Chair & Staff Aide. The Chancellor serves as both the Head of State for the Federal Assembly and the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Force, and holds the authority to sign legislation into law, veto bills that have been approved by the Senate, and issue executive orders on behalf of the Galactic Alliance. To ensure that members of the Office of the Chancellor are held accountable for their actions, the Senate maintains the constitutional right to initiate a 'Vote of No Confidence' should they conclude, beyond reasonable doubt, that the Office has failed to act in accordance with the Common Charter or against the best interests of the Galactic Alliance.

    THE ARMED FORCES

On land or in the black of space, the militaries of the Galactic Alliance stand united on the battlefield. The bulk of the Alliance’s military power exists across a multitude of local planetary and systems forces, referred to as Legions, which are outfitted and structured in accordance with the military traditions of their people and government. This is primarily due to the semi-autonomous nature of the worlds that make up the federal republic, but also to ease the burden of administration for the Galactic Alliance's federal government. As a result, the sometimes dramatic differences in personnel and equipment between the unified forces of the Galactic Alliance can appear quite strange while fighting side-by-side.

    6WWE8VG.png
Additionally, the flexibility offered through the use of localized Legions has been seen to promote competition and national pride across the the Alliance's fighting forces, allowing planets and cultures to showcase their unique strengths and specialties on a national stage. Choosing to allowing the semi-sovereign armed forces of each world to remain active dramatically increases the Galactic Alliance's ability to respond to emerging threats across its territory, and the pooling of each force's knowledge, strategies and experience can give the Alliance's united militaries the advantage on the field. However, should a significant threat to the nation or any of its worlds present itself, the centrally governed Galactic Alliance Defense Force is on standby to respond.

    9smQF9V.png

    GALACTIC ALLIANCE DEFENSE FORCE

In addition to local Legions, the Federal Assembly oversees a singular, centralized fighting force that serves to protect all systems and citizens of the Galactic Alliance. The Defense Force represents the combined skills and capabilities of the federal republic’s many worlds, bringing together members of each and federally funded assets into a single universally trained, equipped and governed military that responds to matters of national security or incidents beyond the scope of a planetary or systems force.

The Defense Force consists of three primary branches: the Army, Navy & Starfighter Corps. Newly enlisted cadets have the option to choose from a number of career specializations under each branch, though the exact options available depend on their score on the GADF’s Vocational Aptitude Test (VAT). Some may choose to pursue more advanced careers with the GADF, which typically fall outside of the scope of training provided for enlisted ranks. These might include, but are not limited to: becoming an army ranger, a naval bridge officer, an RSC pilot, or an SIA intelligence officer. Such careers require additional and often rigorous training/education. Cadets who find themselves eligible for these commissioned/advanced specializations may enroll in one of the GADF’s many prestigious academies, including the Grayson Military Academy on Coruscant, or the Pols Anaxes Naval War College on Anaxes. Regardless of the branch or specialization chosen, all new cadets are required to complete the GADF’s Basic Military Qualification course.

    • GALACTIC ALLIANCE DEFENSE FORCE: Army

Boots on the ground. Tracks in the mud. The divisions of the army make up the largest branch of the Defense Force and offer a wide array of career opportunities for those interested in seeing the Galaxy and getting their hands dirty along the way. The most common specializations within the Defense Force’s army include:

Infantry - the standard foot soldiers of the GADF and the majority of any land force. The GADF’s infantrymen are trained to handle a wide range of weaponry to accommodate multiple squad roles, allowing them to quickly adapt to unexpected changes in their group dynamics and battlefield strategies. Members of the infantry may also choose any number of roles, such as: scouts, field medics, heavy weapons, signalers and more.

Support - the backbone of any GADF’s ground operation. Support units play essential roles, whether on the battlefield or back at base. Although members of support specializations aren’t typically faced with the heat of combat, their efforts and successes play a vital role in almost every aspect of a battlefield. Support specializations include: engineers, medical, logistics, artillery, vehicle crewmen, and many more.

Mechanized- typically paired with basic infantry companies, mechanized infantry are trained to operate or fight alongside armoured personnel carriers and other infantry fighting vehicles, such as the Alliance’s REC-FC/12 landcruiser. Mechanized infantry forces utilize their increased mobility to complete rapid deployments and fast-striking combat maneuvers, or to provide fire support on the battlefield.

Armoured - the crewmen of the GADF’s armoured battalions are trained to operate and maintain the Galactic Alliance’s many mobile heavy weapons platforms, such as the Glaive-class Fighter Tank, Cataphract-class Main Battle Tank and Halberd-class Heavy Walker. The significant fire power offered by these armoured fighting vehicles can make or break a fight, making them an essential part of any ground operation.

Rangers - the GADF’s army special forces and elite ground combatants. The Galactic Alliance's rangers are experts in rapid offensive deployments and are trained to survive and excel in all environmental conditions; from the harshest of deserts to the most frigid ice plains. Rangers are expected to be able to fend for themselves with minimal supplies if necessary and complete high risk objectives, often through unconventional means.

    • GALACTIC ALLIANCE DEFENSE FORCE: Navy

The spearhead of the Galactic Alliance’s military operations. The fleets and marine corps of the GADF’s navy are the Alliance’s shield and first responders. It is common for members of the Defense Force’s navy to spend months on tours, even during times of peace, to defend strategic locations and national borders, patrol major hyperlanes and trade routes, or rapidly respond to emergencies that arise. Common specializations within the Defense Force’s navy include:

Servicemen - the vast majority of crew members on any given naval vessel. Servicemen are typically enlisted personnel who fill common roles that are essential for the smooth operation of fleets, starships and even individual components. Positions within this specialization include fleet and vessel logistics, stewards, technicians and most other non-bridge/officer roles on a starship.

Officers - junior and senior officers fill vital roles within naval command centers and on the bridges of the GADF’s many starships. These disciplined personnel complete in-depth education programs and training at some of the Galaxy’s most prestigious academies, such as the Pols Anaxes Naval War College. Some specialist career paths for naval officers include: communications, sensors, helm and, of course, the pursuit of esteemed positions within the Admiralty.

Marines - the Defense Force’s elite expeditionary infantry force, specializing in naval deployments. As a detachment of the GADF’s navy, it is common for Galactic Alliance's marines to be attached to rapid response forces, often making them the first foot soldiers on-site when a conflict erupts. Because of this, Alliance Marines are outfitted with state-of-the-art REC/STA-02 Advanced Shocktrooper armour and a wide arsenal of REC weaponry to hold their own in dire straits. Much like the army, the marine corps has an array of specialized roles, including: advanced recon force (ARF), heavy troopers, medics, engineers, and many more. **Alliance Marines use army ranks instead of naval ranks.

Commandos - an elite group of naval combat personnel trained to carry out crucial or covert tasks in small squads of four. Unlike the infantry, marines, or even the rangers, Galactic Alliance commandos are a limited and highly mobile force that are generally deployed to complete specific objectives rather than fight, often behind enemy lines or beyond the scope of the Alliance’s territory. Because of the nature of their work, commandos are outfitted with the best armour and weaponry the GADF has to offer them, which includes REC/STA-01 S1 Advanced Commando Armour and the devastating modular REC-DC/03 “Viperwasp” Particle Blaster. **Alliance Commandos use army ranks instead of naval ranks.

    • GALACTIC ALLIANCE DEFENSE FORCE: Starfighter Corps

      [ WIP ]

The GADF's starfighter corps is an extension of the navy and operates as the Galactic Alliance’s primary means of naval support for both ground and space operations. It’s composed of many talented personnel and pilots with something to prove, working together to hone their affinities with hard work and dedication. The starfighter corps is commonly deployed when larger capital ships require finer offensive or defensive maneuvering, or to provide extremely effective support during planetside engagements. Common specializations within the Defense Force's starfighter corps include:

Pilots - highly trained personnel who specialize in the mastery of their assigned starships. The pilots of the GADF's starfighter corps make up the majority of its personnel and require a commissioned rank. Because of this, most graduate from the academies spread throughout the Core, such as the renowned Pols Anaxes Naval War College, while others pass the tests using skills learned on backwater planets from navigating their speeders around a farmyard blasting womp rats. Pilots are typically grouped into Flights of 4 throughout training, and then assigned as a group to a permanent squadron upon graduating. Squadrons are often organized by vehicle type, such as starfighters, starbombers and other support craft. Common starships utilized by the Galactic Alliance's starfighter corps include, but are not limited to: V-wing Heavy Interceptors, R-wing Heavy Superiority Starfighters, and Y-wing Heavy Starbombers. In addition to their starship, pilots are also assigned their own astrogation droids to provide general assistance and complex calculations.

Maintenance - someone’s got to keep those buckets of bolts ready to fly! Operating out of capital ships and the hangars of the Galactic Alliance's ground bases, maintenance crews are typically enlisted ranks who spend their time upkeeping and repairing the corps’ vehicles and equipment. Because of their expertise, members of these specializations oftentimes have suggestions to improve the crafts in various ways, such as refining the targeting software or enhancing the aerodynamics of the fighters. Roles within this specialization may include: mechanics, technicians, engineers and other hangar crew positions.

Training Officers - the starfighter corps' instructors and academy support staff are responsible for developing the simulations used by pilots and setting the corps' performance standards. Members of this specialization are most often commissioned ranks who have proven themselves to be excellent navigators, and who have been exposed to the extremes to re-purpose that knowledge in order to sharpen the skill of the Defense Force's pilots.

Administration - the junior and senior officers of the starfighter corps administration teams work tirelessly to tighten communication between the training academies and other departments of the corps, as well as with the other branches of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. While higher level administration of the starfighter corps falls upon the GADF navy, it's members are still responsible for tasks that serve to improve the overall structure and function of it, such as the development of live operations, the assignment of pilots to their squadrons and ensuring order and discipline amid the ranks.

    • GALACTIC ALLIANCE DEFENSE FORCE: Military Intelligence

      [ WIP ]

The Strategic Intelligence Agency is the Galactic Alliance's central military intelligence agency. Although it is overseen by the Ministry of Intelligence, it operates as part of and often alongside the Defense Force in order to offer strategic insight and ensure the Alliance's forces are well informed of the happenings in the Galaxy. The agency's primary purpose is the collection of information to analyze and report on threats to the Galactic Alliance's national security. If deemed necessary, the SIA even has it's own specialized combat divisions that are dispatched to conduct operations - covert and overt - to investigate or resolve conflicts and concerns.

    • GALACTIC ALLIANCE DEFENSE FORCE: Ranks & Insignia

Enlisted ranks (or "non-commissioned members") make up the majority of the Defense Force's manpower. These members typically perform jobs and hold positions that require minimal (if any) additional training courses after the completion of the Basic Military Qualification course. Most field personnel fall into the enlisted ranks, since they don't often require previous knowledge, exceptional VAT scores, or a long and arduous program at a military academy.

A commissioned officer (or simply "an officer") is a member of the Defense Force who has been issued a formal document (known as a commission) granting them legal authority over enlisted ranks and officers subordinate to them. Commissions are typically granted upon graduating from one of the Alliance's accredited military academies, allowing recipients to pursue more advanced specializations and positions of authority within the Defense Force command structure.

    THE JEDI ORDER

    "First comes the day
    Then comes the night.
    After the darkness
    Shines through the light.
    The difference, they say,
    Is only made right
    By resolving the gray
    Through refined Jedi sight.
    "

    Journal of the Whills, 7:477

    vCiPQk8.png
A dark shadow has fallen over the Galaxy, but the light is rising to meet it. Fractured by disagreements and scattered abroad, the Jedi have struggled for many years to perform their ancient duties. But from the ashes of their past mistakes, a new era of cooperation is upon us. In the face of mounting darkness, some Jedi look to cast aside their differences and learn from the successes and failures of the old ways. These ambitious Jedi seek to accomplish what no one in recent history has: they work to rebuild their monastic order and once again become a symbol of hope for the Galaxy.

The Galactic Alliance officially supports the reunification efforts of the new Jedi Order, finding common ground in their goals of protecting the weak and putting an end to tyranny and suffering. As renowned keepers of peace and lore, the Jedi are able to fill many roles within the Alliance and its territory. When they are not occupied with matters of the Order, some find purpose in the structure of society; working alongside the Alliance Marshals as investigators (Jedi Sentinels), with the Senate as diplomatic mediators (Jedi Consulars), or alongside the Defense Force as battlefield peacekeepers (Jedi Guardians). Others, however, prefer to simply move where the Force wills them, traveling far and wide without a care for such complexities. Regardless, the two powers cooperate as best as they can to overcome the lingering prejudice and aid the worlds that look to them for security and guidance.

Although the Jedi Order does not hold any political or military power within the Galactic Alliance, they are often called upon for advice and counsel, or as experts in matters of the Force. In the present day, there is no denying the existence of a cosmic power - and while some might try to discredit or dismiss it, the administration of the Galactic Alliance recognizes the need to better understand it and values the wisdom offered by the Order's ancient teachings. The Jedi are afforded great freedom in their pursuits of knowledge and understanding, so long as they abide by federal and local laws. Across the Alliance's vast number of star systems a great many of the Order's culturally significant sites exist. Perhaps the most significant of them is the verdant Deep Core planet of Tython, where many scholars believe the first Je’daii gathered to discover the ways of the Force. What remains of the timeworn Nine Temples and the archaic structures built by the orders of old now offer insight into the history of the Jedi, lost knowledge of their practices, and powerful spiritual guidance for those who seek it.

    y0ZHF35.png

Coruscant's Palace of the Jedi served as the Order's headquarters for generations since its construction by the Four Masters nearly 6,000 years ago. Despite suffering substantial damage time and time again in the planet's many wars and calamities, a great deal of effort has always been taken to restore it to its glory. Since the fragmentation of the Jedi Order the great temple has fallen into the service of countless creeds and authorities. But now, with the planet finally liberated from these oppressive regimes and a new Order growing, the Jedi have returned to their ancestral roots, and the monumental structure has found itself restored to its intended purpose. Within its timeless walls, a new generation of Jedi hopefuls begin their journey to learn the teachings of their predecessors and the mystical ways of the Force.

"There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There i no death, there is the Force.
    "

    Odan-Urr, The Jedi Code

"Jedi are the guardians of peace in the Galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the Galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.
    "

    Luke Skywalker, Revised Jedi Code
