Strengths:
  • Hidden Tiger, Great Raider -
The "Nox" as it has come to be called, is a ship dedicated to convoy raiding and anti-starfighter engagements from head to toe; but its most important feature is its ability to be nigh invisible with relative ease. This allows the vessel to sneak behind mass sensor arrays, end up deep behind enemy lines, and run a number of small squad orientated missions dedicated to reconasaince and otherwise dangerous subterfuge. Cloak and dagger is the easiest way to explain this unruly beast, as it fills both the roles with extreme prejudice; even able to bypass traditional Hyperspace lanes and fill the void of Otherspace on a whim.

[*]Hit & Run -
  • While the weapon has no actual anti-capital grade weaponry, its entire purpose is to not engage massive vessels nor fleets. Its purpose is that of a U-Boat, to hide near the hyperlanes and pull from their grasps the likes of cargo freighters and singular transport ships. With a number of interdiction modules, a 'Broadstroke' Solar Ionization Battery, and more, this allows for sudden bursts of offensive prowess on relatively unarmored vessels for serious damage. Following, transport vessels can easily board or otherwise damage the enemy further if so wished.

[*]Fly Swatter -
  • In all situations that don't require guerilla tactics, the ship is also capable of stomping traditional fighter squadrons and bombers. From the close range gravity wells generated, to the innumerable smart missiles that coat the exterior, the ship is able to decimate roving squadrons with impunity. Although designed to exist as a one off corvette on its own, it is entirely viable as a fleet support as well, considering just how well off it is against most fighters.

Weaknesses:
  • Little Man Syndrome -
Because of the way the ship was designed to not take on larger vessels, or even vessels of comparable size, it finds its truest weakness in the fact it can not take on other capital vessels. Perhaps it can commit minor damage through its main solar ionization battery, but anything beyond superficial damage is unlikely before it finds significant damage on its own vessel. This being said, all capital to capital engagements are highly leaned in the opponents corner and are not encouraged by all accounts.

[*]Ionic Disturbances -
  • The ship is extremely advanced, that much is obvious. With systems to monitor almost everything aboard the vessel, the one thing the ship is sensitive to is ion energy. This includes ion storms, cannons, bombs, and more; effectively able to knock out the entire vessel with relative ease. Even the shielding suffers when facing down large scale assault, making the even more sensitive inner equipment subject to the whims of the external galaxy.

[*]Stygium Double Blind -
  • Since the ship uses a 'conventional' stygium orientated stealth device, the ship suffers from what is notoriously called the 'double-blind'. This effect forces those inside its field to witness what those outside the field witness, absolutely nothing. There is simply no way to see out of the stealth field while it is up, just as there is no way to sense it while inside the stealth field. This danger has been the fall of many a stealth vessel, as ship to ship crashes are notorious; not to mention accidentally ambushing the entirely wrong vessel.

Description:

--Overview--
The JC-747 “Nox” Class Raider Corvette is a vessel designed from the ground up to hit convoy lines through hyperlanes, run as a screen for large fighter orientated fleets, and dedicated deep cover missions behind enemy lines. The many uses of the corvette grant it respect in not only Jaeger’s arsenal, but many groups across the galaxy, from special forces to the occasional raider with a fat pocketbook. The ship mixes the comfort of home life with the flexibility and tactile options of a forward operating base, all the joy a soldier could ask for.

--Design--
Started as a compliment ship for the GS-77 “Tsrotzhu” Multipurpose Gunship, the JC-747 is a vessel made for the discerning customer. Those who require a number of needs not often fulfilled in general purpose corvettes, and without the mass produced dangers of most blockade runners. This is where The ‘Nox’ comes into play, as the be all and end all of Raider Corvettes and forward operating bases through naval means.

To begin, the ship itself was heavily based off The Slave’s own notorious Technicolor Beat in terms of stealth, as the massive Mepherium Class Battlecruiser holds many similarities to the small ship besides it lack of stealth technology outright. This dedication to the art of subterfuge allowed the ship to run through hyperlanes and more with minimal interference or attention. With no crosshairs to be seen in, the JS-747 performs to its maximum in this role.

Housing the crew however, is just as important. This is why The “Nox” splits its applicable areas into three separate decks, with the first designated as ‘00’ for all cargo, engineering, and hangers. Second comes the crew quarters, with the designation of ‘01’ and the last as the bridge with the designation ‘02’. These levels each contain different security parameters with ‘00’ being the lowest, and ‘02’ being the highest, respectfully.

The lowest level, in both security and elevation position, is the Deck 00. This ‘industry’ deck lacks much of the refinement of its higher levels, but is absolutely required for the operation of the vessel in all aspects. From the holds to the cargo lifts, there is very little that comes aboard the ship that doesn’t first come through here; and that which doesn’t is likely paraphernalia and needs another look over by the officer.

First, the Main hold; a large area hold that is capable of holding up to twenty four thousand tons of supplies, enough to keep the vessel floating through deep expeditions for up to two years without a resupply; allowing an extreme amount of independence behind enemy lines. With intelligent compartmentalizing done by dedicated droids and robotic trams, there are entire sections of the hold dedicated to a certain SKU or chemical, all with the corresponding SDS sheets to meet galactic standard. In addition to this, the section also holds a well stocked armory for the numerous crew aboard, with hundreds of weapons for boarding action and more; all sealed by a quartermaster and a number of biometric locked blast doors. In the center of it all however, lies the cargo repulsorlift tram that runs towards the forward hold.

The forward hold is where all incoming freight is kept for initial scans, secondary investigations, and final checks before being passed towards the main hold. This area has a number of security measures first and foremost, in addition to the ship’s primary air lock for crew departure, high mass loaders, and a number of repulsor based freight elevators to bring aboard large shipments of supplies. Just off this, lies the hanger itself; another offloading site for crew and deliveries alike.

The Hanger on the vessel is relatively small in regards to hangers in general, but the ship isn’t expected to have anything larger than a single squadron bay considering its own size. In this, there are two traditional loadouts for the vessel, either a singular GS-77 for forward operating on planetary surfaces and other shadowports, or an entire squadron of Taera Class Swarm Drones, each armed and prepped for decimation of any oncoming ship, while additional space is insured to allow the use of small transports for the exact purpose of infiltration. This loadout changes depending on the purpose of the vessel at the time, but both are extremely great additions to the overall structure of the vessel.

Last on the Double-Zero deck is the engineering core; likely the most advanced place aboard the entire ship. Even less luxurious than the cargo holds and their automated organization protocols, is the deeply industrial engineering section filled to the brim in cooling pipes, computer modules, and advanced stealth technology. With some of the brightest minds in the galaxy walking its halls, the engineers of the ‘Nox’ find themselves often among the best to ever fly through space, and equally understanding just how important they are to the everlasting life of all those on board. Balancing the prowess of the ‘Daedalus’ reactors, ensuring constant power output by them in all areas of the ship, while simultaneously monitoring the active stealth fields to ensure they aren’t found out about while in enemy space; the life of an engineer isn’t easy, and can often stress those aboard out.

That is why Jaeger took no cuts in offering perfect amenities for each of the scientists aboard, starting with their own crew quarters. This dedicated wing allows almost instant responses from the engineering team in the case of damage or emergencies across the vessel; but despite the tactile prowess of its repair crew, there also is the comfort of their own sound proofed hall. This ‘Engineer’s Club’, as some aboard the vessels have come to call it, contains a dedicated refresher, galley, and conference hall for personal and military use; effectively allowing a well oiled machine at all times. Even more than that, Jaeger understood that many engineers prefer a more solitary lifestyle, so no expenses were missed in terms of their cot. Each is offered and even more dense soundproofing to allow for complete impunity to the outside hustle and bustle of the ships churning heart, a durasteel privacy shutter that seals the cot to allow for dedicated downtime, and an environmental converter strictly for the purpose of the bed, allowing optimum sleeping potential at all times. In addition to this, each contains a small holoscreen for viewing of both personal holovids, and pulling from the onboard server with thousands of intergalactic hits from all aspects of life, effectively allowing endless hours of entertainment on an otherwise boring vessel. Secondary additions include alarms for shifts, emergency alarms that bring all crew awake and ready, and life support monitoring to alert medical staff if a crew member begins to behave abnormally in either physical or mental conditions.

Just as with the Engineering Core, Deck 01 holds the rest of the crews dedicated quarters, only with more additional room for activities and fitness. While the regular crew quarters shares the same style of cot as the engineer’s quarters, additional thought was put into the accessory facilities that were not able to be put in the lower levels. This includes a full scale Mess Hall, kitchen staff and all running hundreds of crew through the paces with a few daily choices in meals, while there is also a large assembly hall for group meetings and get togethers. A massive holoscreen and holotable allow for both mission briefings on the large scale, and movie nights for the entire crew should the need ever arise to raise morale. In addition, a small Gym was added to help ensure no muscle degradation on long space flights for the more physically focused members of the crew. With localized gravity augmentation, and virtual reality pods for training purposes, the gym is built to keep its users at maximum peak condition at all times.

On the same level lies the Medbay, as well, as all areas with crews such as this require such a facility. With rows of bacta tanks and at least a small handful of dedicated doctors trained in emergency medical procedures, the vessel is fully able to pull together the medical knowhow to fix up to a dozen soldiers with concurrent fatal injuries. Having such an advanced medical facility is a must when considering how far behind enemy lines these soldiers usually are, and the risks involved with not treating injuries immediately.

Next is the Brig, conventionally standard for most ships of its size. Smaller than some perhaps however, as the ship was never meant to carry a number of large scale prisoners, only a few Universal Energy Cages for high priority VIP’s with force sensitivity, and more numerous RPC-12’s or advanced force cages for all others. These in combination to an interrogation room utilized by officers allows for completely autonomous prisoner management, with even the option of purging the various cells should the alarm ever reach a high enough defcon.

Last is the Officers Quarters, a group of studio style apartments for the various high ranking officials on the ship. With much of the same cots as all the other crew, the Officers see an upgrade in the fact they get their own miniature galley, refresher, and desk with integrated computer for personal work. This integral system allows for the management of the vessel equal parts rest and relaxation on their ‘days off’ aboard the vessel, and even a dedicated VPN between the other officers computers. Sizes and comfort can change depending on preference, but predominantly the only room with an actual size difference is the captain's quarters, with their own dedicated conference room with holotable and larger refresher.

Deck 02 is the top of the ship, and the highest area of the ship in both position and security. Here is where the officers engage each other aboard the bridge, send down commands through all the networks aboard the vessel, and guide her through combat at any given instant. This is the brain of the vessel, and in more ways than one it would seem. With the addition of the SADS to actively protect the entire ship, the high security core was placed behind sealed blast doors with a biometric scanner that allows only the Captain and the Head Engineer through at any given point. Should the SADS ever fail or be taken out, so too would the rest of the ship’s automated defenses.

--Armament--
Armament wise, the ship suffers in many categories that would otherwise cost most conventional corvettes, but are sacrificed in the name of extended deployments and hit and run tactics. These include various blaster cannons, octet missile launchers, and more, but its primary focus has to be its main SIC-32 “Broadstroke” Solar Ionization Battery, something that is absolutely notorious for laying out massive amounts of quick damage. In essence, this high tech gatling weapon is the only weapon on the ship that is at all viable to take on other capital ships, and even that is pushing it any capacity.

Most notably, the ship has a number of point defense turrets in the form of two “Gos Karza” Class Battery Emplacements, each able to create miniature singularities to help destroy incoming fighters, bombers, and missiles. Extremely effective in this, to back it up it contains a full set of nearly sentient missiles that track with extreme impunity. Multiply this over the fifteen other missile batteries aboard the vessel, and you end up with a powerful set up of anti-starfighter abilities.

Past these however, only a few heavy rotary laser cannons exist with less than a dozen ion cannons on fast mounts. Relatively conventional in normal terms, each is used exclusively to shoot down incoming fighters, or provide quick fire support on enemy ships when an ambush has begun to take place. Beyond this, there are no additional weapons, making the system overall somewhat bare for being 200 meters.

--Support Systems--
Supporting systems aboard the “Nox” are numerous and advanced, each with a speciality they fill with extreme skill. Designed to be as stealthy as possible, with speed and hit and run capacity to boot, there are various aspects of the ship that allow it to fulfill its role with ease, although increasing the cost of it all at the same time.

First, there are the numerous stealth oriented technologies. The primary of which is the stygium class cloaking device meant to hide the ship behind the guise of a double blind sensor mask that stops all incoming retrieval attempts, effectively making the ship disappear. This does come with the weakness of not knowing where you’re going, but it does allow the overall sensibility to hide from large hunter fleets and more. In addition to this, things like the Reflec coating allow for the ship to hide under most long range sensors, and even some short range, by simply absorbing them; while more advanced ones such as crystal gravfield traps are countered by simply negating the gravity fluctuations given off by the ship through the use of a dedicated GAM.

Past this, a T-2000 “Otherdrive” allows the vessel to pass behind all hyperlane sensors by simply not travelling through the hyperlane itself, but through what many know as ‘Otherspace’. This extra dimensional travel allows its to simply appear where it once was not, albeit at the cost of speed compared to conventional hyperspace means. All together worth the extra costs, the dangers do include but not limited to, simply disappearing permanently into the otherspace should something ever go incredibly awry. In addition, a Predator Interdiction Drive was place aboard the vessel to allow it to pull other vessels out of hyperspace, although this isn’t possible while in otherspace.

Lastly, the ship has aboard it one of Jaeger’s flagship models of shields, nicknamed ‘The Aegis’. A powerful shield that allows not only feedback retribution on incoming fire, but molecular backups to charge its redundancies. All together a strong shield, but downsized on the ‘Nox’ to better suit its needs for power. This makes the shield weaker than conventionally, but still an imposing defensive to the would be attackers.

--Summary--
All together, the ‘Nox’ is a vessel capable of harassing an enemy in war, destroy them in unconventional tactics, and leave their infrastructure in waste. Dedicate the resources to stop these ships, and you suffer at the frontlines, but do nothing, and the war is lost. A beautiful design, with beautiful results, all orientated towards Jaeger’s customers and affiliates.
