State of the Union [Open to Invitation]

In a large open chamber that was flanked by elongated banners with the New Republic Symbol on a red setting. A podium was well lite as many dressed figures sat in their podiums around it and looked out to the holocameras. Within the central podium sat two individuals on an lower covered desk, the one on the left was a reptilian being with armored skin and emotionless features. The other was a human with a kind look about him. Vice Chancellor Tobias Drakes and Senator [member="Alexander Sannes"] stood and the Vice Chancellor leaned forward to make his announcement, "Ladies and Gentelman of the Senate," There was a pause as he let it all sink in, "The Chancellor of the New Republic."

A large cheer and applause was given as a man in the center podium raised his hands and bowed to the senators around hi,. The tall, dark skinned human took to the stage and wore a deep blue and white robe that made it almost seem like he was floating across the stage. Pausing under the lights, he paused to look over the members of senate that sat behind him and the cameras before him. This was Chancellor Munnu Fati, first elected Chancellor of the New Republic.

He would lean in and begin his Statement to the Union, “Good after noon to the Vice Chancellor, Speaker, and members of the Senate, I am sure many of you here and those watching on Holonet at home have other places to be instead of watching an old man speak politics so I will make it quick.” There was an applause from the senators, “I am thankful and appreciative of the people of the New Republic for electing me to the position of Chancellor of this great and growing nation among the stars. It is my hope that taking this amazing opportunity will strengthen and mold bonds our place among the Core Worlds and to our neighbors across the galaxy.” Another round of applause and cheering from those behind him and out of view of the cameras, “With my election to the position of Chancellor it is my hope that both the Doves and Hawks will reach across party lines drawn in the sand and work together in producing a better standard of rights and liberties to the citizens of the New Republic and the Galaxy as a whole.” Again the applause and cheering interrupted his speech and he allowed it as he waved his hands to calm the small crowed before him, “It is with my experience and time in the Military as well as my friends, Vice Chancellor Dracks and Speaker Sannes, that we will work through this administration to reform both the Military and Civil Services of the New Republic.” The cheering appeared again as the Chancellor looked to the two men behind him and they nodded in agreement, pausing and then turning to continue his address to the nation, “We must unite as a government as well to improve this nation's Economy and Standard of Living for our citizens, and to do this we must invest in the Private Sector as well as improving Government Works to decrease unemployment and improve job satisfaction, and we as a government will work alongside both big and small companies to get this promise completed.” Another round of applause stopped the speech from continuing, letting it continue for its time the Chancellor nodded and waved to calm them, “Since our move to the Core Worlds, we have improved both safety and security, along with economic improvements and for the first time since the fall of the Galactic Republic, a federal government that places the best interest of its citizens over the individual needs of singular planets, for we are not a Coalition or Alliance, but a Republic of the People.” The last part of that speech carried weight as it echoed through the chambers, and knowing that another applause was coming the Chancellor stopped talking and allowed the wave of approval rolled in from the Senators and Representatives, once it was finished he continued. “We set our goals on the protection and security of the Core Worlds from the Darker intents of the singular needs for the few and place peace, freedom, and unassailable rights to those that work hard and are guaranteed the productive sentient being that push this Republic into a new horizon for it is not just this Chamber, or Government, or even our Military alone that allow this New Republic to continue existing after all this time, but you,” Looking deep into the cameras, he let the look gaze into those watching at him and outside the chamber, “You who is at home and watching this, the Citizens of the New Republic, you are the Heart and Soul of this nation and those of us in this chamber would not be here without your trust and belief in our planed future, the Republic will never die as long as you have the hope and strength to support us as we turn your will into laws and your hopes into a national pride.”

He ended the speech and raised his hands to a roaring applause, the camera swept around the chambers and saw as the newly elected senators stood as they cheered and applauded. The Chancellor added, “Thank you all, may the Force be with you, and may the Force guide our nation into a New Age of Enlightenment.”

The statement to the nation had ended and was now to be the celebration of the appointment of the First Chancellor of the New Republic.

Now was to be part of the celebration as Tobias entered the Graduation Hall of the Carida Academy. It seemed the services they had acquired had made it welcoming to their many guest, after all this was not just a celebration for the New Republic but also for diplomatic ties. The Vice Chancellor was now out of his senatorial close and was wearing something more maneuverable and comfortable that could be worn over a long time without causing problems. The guest list was extensive and to prevent problems that could cause the occasion to be spoiled, Senate Guards were stations at regular intervals and wore special armor to prevent even a Force Conflict to get our of control.

Walking through the great hall as the music played he wondered up to the Chancellor and tapped his shoulder, "That was an amazing speech Munni," He paused, "I mean Chancellor Fati." The Reptilian laughed with his deep monotone voice and bowed slightly.

The elderly man was now wearing a more comfortable white suite that he felt would make a statement to the guest. A look of jokingly mockery was clear on his face with a smile, "Ha-Ha Tobias, you aught to know that silver tung of yours does not work on me," Waiting for the Vice Chancellor to stop his jesting, he continued, "You did a good job with the planning though, so lets have our guest come in, I am sure they are tired of waiting outside."

Tobias nodded, "Of course Munni." He waved to the Senate Guards at the great door opposite the stage and they opened it to start letting people in.

Despite all that was happening around Commenor, the plight of his people's being under the oppression of the Sith Empire, Veiere Arenais had made a point to attend this event for the sake of wanting to ascertain just how the New Republic was fairing since the collapse of the old. Before Commenor, he and his wife [member="Lady Kay"] had served the Galactic Republic during the worst of the Mandalorian Crusades and the declining One Sith that had challenged them for so many years. To say that it was unfortunate that his Wife could not accompany him was quite the understatement, not only for the obvious fact that she remained under watch and imprisonment of the Sith, but so too the fact that between them both, she was ever the Politician where as Veiere had worked from the heart, from instinct and his integrity that had been encouraged through a live growing up within the Jedi Order back on Svivren; the Enclave that had since been re-established for the use of the Je'daii that Asha Hex had reformed.

Arriving via The KingsGuard, though he had sent word ahead that he would be accompanied by his personal Guard, he had since decided to forgo their presence and attend on his own for the want of showing a more positive and humble presence there within a hall so formal and accommodating. Admittedly, it had been a long time since he had attended such a formal event, typically dragged to these things by Kay, they were far more her scene. Life aboard The CSA Resolute however had felt much longer than it truly had been thus far and the constant struggles and obstacles of organizing the Resistance against the Sith's Commenor Imperium regime, required the estranged King to consider who among their contacts were trust-worthy and genuine. It was a sad fact that in politics, nothing came without a price and favors always contained some form of catch; these were only two reasons why Veiere had always loathed the political side of his position. The possible good that he could do for others however, from such a place of prominence, authority and financial growth, more so than often, outweighed his disagreements with the outside politics of the Galaxy.

Arriving in a much more formal attire than he was accustomed to of late, Veiere stepped into the grand hall and offered a smile of thanks to the greeter before moving forward to 'socialize', if that's what it was people called it these days. In all honesty, the prospect of having a good time there seemed so difficult to grasp at with what still had to be achieved for his people and his family, yet he put on a good front against the weight of all things he had to shoulder, trying his best not to cringe as his entrance was announced by one of the public speakers for each new arrival.

"Presenting, Veiere Arenais, Lord of the House Arenais and King of Commenor".

Shortly after [member="Veiere Arenais"] 's arrival into the hall the tall ashen skinned Zabrak made his way to the door. He smiled to the guards and gave up his weapons, though was sure to let them know of the one built into his arm in such a way he couldn't actually remove it. The last thing he wanted was a misunderstanding. His only reason for being here was to support the Commenor King to gain allies within the Republic against the Sith blockade of his homeworld.

Krest was dressed in what his people would consider formal wear. Armor fit for his arid planet with decorative cloth (Of course minus the obvious weapons). His cloth of course being colored blue and red as the royal colors went. "Presenting, Krest Novar, King of Iridon- no wait don't just wa- Ahem. King of Iridonia." Krest didn't wait for his name to be called, instead walking right over to Veiere to glance around the room.

"So this is what politics look like, huh."

Adjusting to the new role of exiled and wanderers, the Alliance in Exile was working hard to make sure that all the non-Imperial nations of the galaxy knew that the former leader of democracy and freedom was still intact, even if only in intention and dream. General Coren Starchaser was being detached for a mission of the utmost importance. It was going to challenge his abilities and probably cause him to stress out more than being deployed to Coruscant had been.

It was diplomacy.

The New Republic had contacted a number of allies to extend an invitation to welcome to the leader of the Senate, and for the Alliance? It was a glorious day as well. A former Admiral, Munnu Fati was stepping into the role of Chancellor. Starchaser was glad that things were coming full circle. He had taken some members from the former Galactic Republic when he and Nemo Ven had created the Galactic Alliance, and now with the collapse of the latter, members of their own were stepping into the fray with the Republic.

The Spear of the Alliance had pulled into the system with two picket ships for escort, mostly an honor guard. The rest of the Roving Line was keeping a close watch on the system, if only as a matter of course for the Alliance in Exile’s lead General being there. Stepping out of the Nubian Star Yacht that was reserved for delegation meetings, the Jedi-General was wearing the Alliance military uniform and was escorted by two armored Jedi Guardians and an honor company of soldiers.

O7IzWjD.png

Following the speech of the new Chancellor, Starchaser was introduced, General of the Alliance, Jedi Master, the two real honorifs he allowed, he made sure to meet with the beings he was looking from, and his aid had located a few more for him. Starchaser was nodding, but his true intention was to meet with a former comrade. While Admiral Fati and the General were both Alliance military, they had served on different theaters, but the name was known to Coren.

Especially since the move to the Republic. While the Alliance in Exile couldn’t contain everyone, many people preferred a military that held worlds, and that was more organized than a rag-tag fleet. And that was fine. He had contacted [member="Jaius Sovv"] about this trip, but for security reasons the pair were not going to be traveling together. Still, the Alliance General made an approach to the new Chancellor, knowing he’d have to get through security, but hoping that he could grab the Retired Admiral’s attention.

The New Republic wasn't all that far away from the territory of the Silver Jedi, not too far from the location of John's shipyards above Commenor. Not that he saw much of them these days, with the Sith occupation of Commenor still going strong the dark-haired man had been avoiding going to close to the once proud planet. He didn't want to risk riling up the Sith with the presence of one who had been too closely affiliated with the Silver Jedi. Instead, the shipyard had mostly been put into mothballs, his crew pulled back and redistributed far from the potential of Sith aggression. It was a sad, almost melancholy thought to start off the evening, but the Helios had cut close to the planet, and now seeing the ex-King of Commenor mingling with the guests brought it back to mind. Still, even with the slight melancholy brought on by the sight of the planet it had been a Smooth trip for the executive and his party. It should be, he had designed the Helios class ship to be the height of luxury for the travels around the galaxy, if he was going to make a product it would be one that he wanted to use after all. It had been nice to talk to his guests aboard the ship in an informal setting, it made a stark change from their usual meetings in the midst of one crisis or another, and John wasn't about the human desire to show off and the Helios was something he was happy to have guests explore. Much to EX's distraction, which worked as a net positive the man decided as he glanced over at the droid accompanying him with a fond smile.

Idly the man reached up, adjusting the lapels of his Tuxedo as he stepped out of the speeder that had picked them up from the spacedock, nodding at his part before he turned on one heel, the soft whirr of his cybernetics barely audible as John reached out for the card that he had stored in his pocket, passing it across to the Senate staffer with a genial smile.

"Announcing John Locke of Locke and Key Mechanics."

After the last few announcements, after those he knew were yet to come, his introduction might have been a little tame but he wasn't here as a military leader but as a businessman looking to examine how the new government of the Republic would affect the economy in the area. That more than anything would be a sign of what was to come. Besides, a small grin tugged at his lips as he accepted a tumbler of whiskey from a nearby server, just being here, listening, that would tell him more than making a splash, and provide plenty of discussion for the return trip. For now, it was time to mingle and see what came of the evening.

The Spirit of Alderaan made its' way to Carida onboard Faith rested comfortably her new daughter Ma'ree Vereen lay sleeping by her side. She looked down lovingly into the child's face such a precious angel.

Tia had warned her that having a child late in life had its own complications she hadn't been wrong. It had nearly killed her and kept her out of public eye for over a month. So much so she had to send Theo to meet with the Mandalorians something she hated doing but he was grown and a prince. But it was send him or die. She opted for sending him.

This trip she so far was able to stand up and walk. How long this would last was a wait and see. She did not bring Marina this time. She had been late so many times that Faith was losing her own faith in the young woman. A diplomat who was continually late did not garner much trust no matter how enticing their words.

Becca knocked gently, "Mam, we are almost there."

All Faith could do was nod. Pushing herself up she knew it was time to get ready. The nanny would stay with Ma'ree

Carida -

Faith sat quietly listening to the Chancellor of the Republic speech. She had heard one too many of these speeches in her lifetime but she would try not to let her experiences jade what was being done now. It was hard to control her fears associated with the title but she would do it she knew she must.

Already though her condition was catching up to her she could feel her energy being sapped away.

It was however at the conclusion of the speech that Faith needed to shine. She needed to mingle and make the presence of Alderaan known. Let the galaxy know Alderaan still survived. Faith looked over to [member="Riamah"] to see if she approved or not. It was good to have someone along with her.

Her best smile and a gentle push she was ready to begin.

"Presenting Queen Faith of Alderaan."

She entered and smiled accompanied by two of the Alderaani guard and Bekka who she immediately told to relax. Her dark brown eyes scanned the room quickly taking into account who was there that had entered before her. [member="Coren Starchaser"] , [member="John Locke"] , [member="Veiere Arenais"] .

Tobias stood by the Chancellor as the guest entered, a few of the more high profile guest had arrived as of now. He only continued to speak with the delegation from the Defense Committee. They were upset about the constant work that had flowed into the chamber since their elections into office. He dealt with their complaints with tact and regularly informed them that it was a new government and it would calm down after the reorganization of the many worlds that joined them and the many other problems in the Core Worlds.

It was at this time that [member="Coren Starchaser"] had joined the group, near them was the Senators from Hok and Arkania along with the VC and Chancellor. The other senators bowed and too their leave as they were not comfortable with the presence of the GA Remnant working with the Republic. Being as they were from the Dove Faction, it made sense. The Chancellor could care less as he held a hand out to the General, "General Starchaser, I must say it is a honor to have you join us on this momentous day,"

Tobias noticed another person and nodded to the two, "Apologies gentleman, I must step away."

The Chancellor nodded, "Of course Tobias, we still need to talk about the Fleet Commissionaire Bill later so please speak with the Senator from Balmorra," Waving off the VC he turned back to Coren, "I have been split from the Fleet for so long, all the news I get is limited and fractured, is Admiral Sovv and Master Raaf alive, did they survive with you, no survivors from Coruscant has joined the Republic as of late and I have been too busy to look at the Reports." The Chancellor had a million questions for the General as he served his life to the Alliance and to have it disappear over night was a shock to him and the information the the Republic had was limited and not as strong as other nations.

republic_divider_by_seventhsolar-dc15pmn.png
Tobias noticed the first man to enter the room and his counterpart. As the Chancellor was busy catching up with an old comrade he decided to make his round to the groups of people that were now entering the room. The new leader of the Republic was new to politics but however he needed to teach the old man to properly make all their round to his guest. He was a little more experience, and as such he walked up to them first.

The first one he was the most wanted man in the galaxy and just having him here could cause problems for the Republic. However Tobias was not scared to greet [member="Veiere Arenais"] and his counterpart [member="Krest"], "King Arenais and Master Krest, I wish to give you a warm welcome to the New Republic, and I am so glad you were able to attend our monumental moment of stubbornness in keeping our free and democratic values in the Core Worlds."

He then heard the entrance of the CEO of Locke and Key Mechanics, [member="John Locke"], a well established company in the Mid Rim with products floating throughout the galaxy. Better known for their parts manufacturing, they also were well established ship and armor builders that were considered on par with Mandalorian Armor Smiths without the use of Mando Iron. However, the man was keeping his distance from them at the moment, he would have to make his move at a later time.

He then heard the announcement of Queen [member="Faith Organa"], the royal head of the planet of Alderaan. He attempted to wave her down and bring her into the group he was now with. "Wonderful you could join us your majesty, I humbly greet you to the New Republic and hope your stay here will be to your enjoyment and gratification." Bowing his head slightly he greeted her with the respect she deserved.

As [member="Krest"] approached to his side, Veiere smiled and dipped his head, hearing the Zabrak's remark. "This is the more pleasant side of Politics, my friend" He replied softly, just in time to turn and listen to those that would be greeted after them. [member="Coren Starchaser"], Veiere knew the name yet had not had the priviledge of serving beside the man in the Jedi of the Galactic Alliance. His was a face of Galactic Affairs also, though it was sad that the Alliance and Commenor now had something in common, their fall at the hands of the Sith Empire. Even worse was the insult of the Sith's threat, attacking Commenor for their refusal to hand over the refugee's that had fled Alliance space, for he and his wife knew exactly the sort of treatment the Sith would pass down to them.

Following Coren, was an associate of Commenor's. [member="John Locke"] had not yet met with Veiere yet, though the estranged King knew of their previous business affairs and found it a welcome surprise that a friendly name would be called out among the rest that would be no doubt aware of recent events surrounding his Home-World, as well as the bad blood between Veiere and the Dark Lord of the Sith. Veiere waited to see if John would glance his way, and if so, would offer a curt nod in greeting from afar accompanied with a smile to extend a warm welcome.

"King Arenais and Master Krest...".
[member="Tobias Dracks"] had found the King and his fellow Templar Grandmaster. Veiere turned back and bowed as was the Jedi way, a formal and respectful acknowledgement of the Senator. The man rightly had nothing to fear, Veiere was the last thing the Republic needed to be concerned about for all else that he had on his plate. After all, his former work within the Galactic Republic before times of the Systems Alliance, were a loyal and dedicated time to which their eventual fall from power had been difficult to accept.

"Thank you, Senator Dracks" Veiere smiled, "We appreciate the invitation. It's a welcome change of scenery, I can assure you". With Mr.Dracks soon turning his attention to that of [member="Faith Organa"], Veiere turned to follow his line of sight. The Queen of Alderaan and the Free Worlds Coalition, if memory served him correctly. Giving her too an approving nod, waited for her company before going further to say in confidence; "It's good to see the Republic is returning to the seat of it's former glory. I have high hopes that the worlds in the Expansion Regions and the Core will be secured before any further hostilities may befall them".

Master Krest? The elder Zabrak did his best to fight back the tears of such a demotion. Was it the announcers fault? The King glared over his shoulder at the announcer. Next time he wouldn't walk away. Thankfully his attention helped him to gloss over the introductions. He really wasn't so good at words. Especially since, for the last twenty or so years, all the faces he saw in this room were faces of targets he had assigned. Especially the Organa. Oh, if she knew he was the one that ordered the Assassin to take her fathers life. Well.

Awkward to say the least, not that they'd know. What's more, he was done with that lie of a life. No more hiding in the shadows to stop the Sith. He pipped up into the conversation as [member="Faith Organa"] made her way over to the ground alongside [member="Tobias Dracks"] and [member="Faith Organa"] , a chuckle escaping him shortly after. "I'm glad I didn't agree to the bet. Thought for sure the Republic was done and out after the One Sith slaughter." Yup, that was his small talk.

"How many were lost in that conflict anyway?"

With all the turmoil her personal life and the galaxy had been in recently almost all sign of Ra, now called Ria had basically dropped away. She had taken a step back from being a merchant in things and instead had started a small movement. It had gained momentum, members and now she felt confident they could finally make a mark in things.

This had been in the works since before the Coalition had fallen and kept secret. They had helped the Alliance when they fell and Commenor as well, but Ra had never been in the front. Now here an opportunity to come out of shadows was being granted and her voice might be heard. Having alerted her people, they knew she was going to be at this meeting. There was only one person she fully expected to be present and that was Vulps. His sworn role as her guardian basically indicated he would be.

It was a little bit of a surprise to her Faith had requested her to come to this meeting. She played no role with the noble class on Alderaan and was nothing more than a merchant with them. Accepting the invitation anyway, she arrived with the Queen and walked at her side as they entered. Listening to the speech, she nodded when it was needed and gave Faith any support when asked.

After that, they went to a more private setting for what could be considered a meet and greet session. Her eyes traveled around the room and rested just a moment on two people.

Coren Starchaser, a man she had met not that long ago actually. In an attempt to get back into her role as merchant, she had visited the Wheel and shared a drink with him. An interesting conversation had come with that, maybe a chance to renew that would come today. To show Coren she wasn't full of it. When her eyes fell on the second person though, her hand made an involuntary move to where a saber or blaster would have been.

A fellow sith assassin and with her having cut all ties with that empire, Ra had no idea how he would react to seeing her. Suddenly she became very tense and watched him closely.

In fact her attention was so focused on him, she barely heard the greeting by Tobias when he spoke to Faith. Coming out of that focused attention, she was pretty sure Krest would know it had been on him. She nodded and looked at Faith just in time to see Veiere for the first time in years. A chance run in then and he likely had no memory of her. Long before she had any sort of power with anything or anybody. Truly a simple merchant then.

Giving him a smile and nod as he spoke to Faith, she did not expect him to remember her at all. Since nobody had yet spoken to her, Ra fell back on her habit of being an observer and waited for the right time to make herself known.

Clawed hands traced up the soft silk of a coat, shimmering with phrik dust, eventually settling on the edges of the fabric to flick it forward, producing a more evenly placed garment. It had been some time since he had been to such a function within the republic. Back then, his membership within the jedi order had placed him in the role of an unofficial guard. Back then, he was a soldier. Now, he was the Valde. He was a king, in service of his planet, here to represent the interests of his people. He was also a CEO of a security company which due to a few connections within hosts of this little event, was on its way to creating a contract that would further their standing, as well as the security of the Republic.

"Presenting Vulpesen Torrevaso, Valde of Veradune and the Vitae Security Forces!"

Golden eyes scanned the room around him, eventually finding a pair similar to his own amidst red hair. Like water, Vulpesen flowed through the crowd, slipping past whoever might have gotten in his way to speak with whoever they themselves had found within the meeting. Eventually, he would find himself close enough to speak, ding so with a wide smile amidst long strides. "Queen Organa, and Riamah, a pleasure to see you both." The latter of the two would receive a slightly longer gaze, the corner of Vulpesen's mouth lifting in slightly larger grin before he resumed his attention to the pair. "Looks to me as though your Fine republic has chosen itself quite the leader, Your Highness."

While he spoke, Vulpesen stepped over to Ra's side, his hands folding into a steeple in front of him. Has she had suspected, he had ensured that he would be there, especially upon hearing that the leader of the Hand would be present. Of course, no invitations for exceptions would be needed due to his membership by contract. The only problem with this that he was concerned about, was the fact that it led to him needing to fill his plus one with his advisor, who already was walking over to ensure that the Valde didn't make a fool of himself.

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
Alexandra smoothed out the black dress that she wore, trying to find a way that it felt more comfortable on her. It was hard, especailly with the appendage she couldn't exactly deal with other than covering it with an illusion for the night. She preferred her robes, her garden and preferred being able to relax but she was the Grandmaster of the Jedi and its representative within the Republic. As far as she was concerned, she was suppose to be here and to expand the understanding into the Jedi's role in the Republic.

Her eyes trailed over to [member="Abigail Meredydd"], who had come with her and was now in one of her old dresses. The sight caused a smile from Alexandra and her eyes to rest on the young woman. Having someone like Abigail around helped Alexandra these days, especially considering the not so public fact that Abigail was her daughter. Alexandra had found this out a short time ago, and has since then watched over Abigail with renewed reason.

"You sure you ok with wearing that... You are my kid after all and I know how much I hate it..." She said, not bothering with holding the word back since they were alone at the moment and the door was shut. She wouldn't mind if someone heard though, it was just easier to avoid mentioning it.

"If not, you can change back to something else, I understand if so." The dress alex wore herself had the back cut out, leaving her feeling uncomfortable too considering the situation. Not only was the dress a pain to wear in the first place but she could not hide her sabers anywhere on her person. No spear, no staff, nothing. It made her feel vulnerable and she hated that feeling after such an eventful past. It would be ok though, tonight was going to be simple and there would be no one here to make things worse.

AS far as she had known at the time.

Only when Abigail was ready would Alexandra move to open the door and walk into the part, putting a hand through her hair, the red strands pulled up and out of her face as she looked around for someone she knew. Her eyes caught sight of several individuals, those being the Queen of Alderaan, the Vice Chancellor, and one [member="Riamah"], who she knew would not have one of two people far behind. It made her heart sink alittle and Alexandra reflexively stepped backwards, almost wanting to get back behind that door.

She breathed in, thinking on the matter and letting out that same breath before resuming to smile. She would look at Abigail and speak, her tone light and soft.

"Well, welcome to your first time at something like this... do try to not cause an incident before I do."

As Abigail stood beside [member="Alexandra Feanor"] , she too tried to straighten her dress, her oh so uncomfortable dress. Well, it wasn't really that the dress was bad, Abigail just figured she wasn't meant to be all beautifully dressed for events like this. She definitely pressed more casual clothes. Now she was thinking about dresses, she was pretty sure she had never worn one before in her entire life.

Abigail looked up from her dress as Alex spoke to her, giving her opinion on the dress Abby wore.

"Really? This is your dress! You were the one who gave it to me, and now you're telling me you hate it?", she asked, her tone light and quite cheerful. "I think we just are not made to wear dresses, you and I. I prefer something more... free", she said as she ran her hands along the dress, showing how little room she had to freely move.

Then Abigail chuckled as she looked at her mother with a raised brow.
"I am not undressing here, what if someone comes through the door? I'm not going to stand here.. without a dress. No way. The dress isn't exactly the most practical but I'm not going to change here... Besides, the only thing changing would achieve is the fact that I would then stand out like a sore thumb... I think I will survive this dress."

She gave Alex a smirk before she added her last remark with a light-hearted chuckle. "Besides, what am I going to change into? Air?"

Probably one of the things Abigail disliked the most about this dress was the fact she didn't have any sleeves or pockets to hide her smaller weapons, the 'just in case' ones as she called them. Then again, they were going to some sort of fancy get-together for politicians and others, so it wasn't like she needed weapons anyway.

Now she was thinking about it, she realised how out of place she was here. At least Alex was the grandmaster of the Republic, so she had a reason to be here and she probably knew quite a few people too. But Abigail, she was nothing to these people, and it was quite possible she knew almost no-one present today.

"Uhm. I uhm, I'm ready, mast-.. mom", she mumbled as she nodded towards Alex. While it didn't sound like a big deal, Abigail still hadn't been able to decide on how to address Alex.

Alex, kind of too informal.
Master, kind of too distant and cold.
Mom, kind of awkward considering barely anyone knew of their relation.

Why was this even a problem she had to deal with in the first place..?

And then it happened. Alex opened the door, and she and Abigail walked through it. Abigail immediately became extremely self aware of how she looked, afraid she looked ridiculous or out of place. Because of this she stuck close to Alex, hoping to not draw any attention to herself just yet.
But the part was as she had imagined it to be, full with a lot of people, but barely any that she knew.

After adjusting her hair and her dress one last time with her hands, she forced herself to stop, for she knew everything was perfectly fine and she was just stressing for no reason. She was pretty enough and dressed well enough to blend in.. which was something she thanked the Force for.

"I couldn't even get that done if I tried, knowing how good you are at causing trouble", Abigail chuckled in response as she shot Alex wink. "Or how bad you are at avoiding it."

As she saw Alex look around, she did the same. Judging by her reaction, Alex had probably seen a few people she knew.
"But uh, Alex? You're not going to just like leave me somewhere on the floor alone, right? I don't think I know anyone here...", she then said, sounding more nervous than she had liked.

Shortly after the arrival of the Alliance battlegroup to the Carida system, a second larger formation reverted from hyperspace into orbit over the New Republic capital world. The centerpiece of the collection of warships was a sleek gleaming dreadnought, Shining Path, one of only a few such ships to exist in the known galaxy.

The Silver Jedi had arrived, partaking in all the pageantry surrounding the rebirth of the Republic on Carida.

From the city-sized flagship emerged a custom Nubian yacht flanked by an escort of X-wings. Aboard was Jyoti, along with a few of her fellow members of the Silver Assembly and some other VIPs. As they took off from Shining Path, the whole ship began to shimmer as it activated its holoprojector system, creating a lighting effect similar to an aurora. When night fell over the academy, attendees would be treated stunning view overhead.

She still didn't know what to make of the Republicans, but it was good optics attend a a show of support to another group with a similar mission to the SJO. That was only part of it, though. She wanted to get a feel for the current leadership of the Republic and really see what her new neighbors were like.

She hoped for the best, but was prepared to deal with the usual.

"Presenting General Jyoti Nooran, Grandmaster of the Silver Jedi Order"

The tall Echani offered a warm smile as she stepped forward to join the crowd of dignitaries, flowing white robes swirling around her with each step. After a few paces, she paused to allow the rest of her party to catch up.

Scanning the room, she could see and feel quite a few familiar faces, from Coren to Queen Faith. John was also in attendance, whom she passed a wave from a distance. It looked to be a good showing so far, and already, she could see some new opportunities to play catchup. Outside of the Republicans themselves, Veiere and Coren were high on her list to speak with for obvious reasons.

Still looking around, her eyes lingered on one strange man in exotic garb (Krest). She couldn't put her finger on it, but he felt familiar to her for some reason. It could have been nothing, but long ago she had learned not to distrust her instincts. She may get to him after she made the rounds with her counterparts.

[member="Abigail Meredydd"], [member="Alexandra Feanor"] [member="Vulpesen"] [member="Riamah"] [member="Krest"] [member="Veiere Arenais"] [member="Tobias Dracks"] [member="Faith Organa"] [member="John Locke"] [member="Coren Starchaser"]

It was going to be one of those days, he felt. Starchaser had a number of people to be in contact with and they were all about to show up here, weren’t they? The trick was that he was the official representative of the Alliance in Exile. And he knew that meant trying to work with the Republic and anyone else who showed up to get things moving. Coren was on a good page with the Republic, better than the previous iteration, a few hand overs and he felt things were coming up perfect. The Silvers were around, and he had a good relation with them as well, well Nooran and her team.

It was a matter of getting the other groups working together. Commenor and the like. He could work to setup some more assistance and alliances for his own group. Representing the Outer Rim? Not so much. But he could at least vouch for part of it.

Looking up at the former Alliance Admiral, Coren saluted, out of politeness for the new rank and the former rank. “Coruscant was… hard. You haven’t been getting all the holos? Raaf betrayed us. It… its been hard. Outer Rim Coalition has taken us in. Too many losses, but the Chief o State is still in with [member="Jaius Sovv"]. He regrets his absence here but we can only have the Triumvirate in the same place for so long. Sith are out there.” He looked around. Seeing @Tobias Drack.

“Which brings me to the next order. Alliance in Exile forces are looking to assist the former bloc of Republic and Alliances as best we can. Think you can house refugees if we provide some protection detail?” He was meaning starships, and soldiers. People who would do what they could to protect their own, and support the Republic. Same as Coren would. Just he did it from his own point of view. He was hearing the names being called, some he recognized, others he didn’t.

The other Grandmasters had appeared, [member="Jyoti Nooran"] and [member="Alexandra Feanor"]. He’d get to them after he was done with the Chancellor. If he could get the other Jedi leaders together…

Munnu looked to General [member="Coren Starchaser"] as he continued through his explanation of the situation. To hear that Raaf had betrayed the Alliance and was not on the side of the Sith was hard to put in his mind. She was a founding member of the organization and the Force Users. In his rush to comprehend it all, he thought to himself that the women must have had her reasons. However, that was short lived as he remembered the battle of Javin. The First Order had known their moves before they had the chance to communicate it, that could only have been done by a spy placed by the upper ranks of the Alliance.

"The Republic has made a ban on information that could damage the moral of the recent victories," He looked over at Tobias, "Vice Chancellor Drakes must have filtered the information I was hearing to secure my election, the man is strong and conniving, but he gets results in both politics and military," He patted the General on his shoulder, "Inform Chief of State Sovv that any help from the Alliance would be of big help, the Republic Fleet is short on experienced Naval Officers and being a retired Admiral it is shameful to see the navy in its currently weak state, our Neimordia Dockyard is currently housing half a fleet, you get me sailors and I can get them ships to serve on."

The Chancellor was trying to make a move on the veteran Alliance Sailors that were trained and fought real battles. Given republic citizenship would show the other nations that they were offering salvation to those that were fleeing tyrannical governments.

"As for those that can not serve and are looking for a place to call home, the senator from Nak Shimor has already accepted a large portion of refugees that arrived from Chandrila to Fondor," He remembered that the Senator would be voting soon on what to do with the large influx of refugees soon, but that was for a later date. "Its location on a Hyper Way should allow you to keep in contact with your fleets quickly."

republic_divider_by_seventhsolar-dc15pmn.png

Tobias was now looking at each individual as they spoke, the revival of the Republic in its new stance must have been a large surprise. To him however, this New Republic was improved and better then the Galactic Republic it replaced, even better then the Alliance and Coalitions that failed in the region recently. However, he kept that to himself and moved on with the conversation.

Looking to King [member="Veiere Arenais"] and responded with a monotone voice that was deep and low toned, "The Republic that stands before you is much different the the Galactic Republic of old, we have reformed the Government and Military and keep the Jedi Enclave as a Religious Order that does not involve itself in the government without being invited," The VC looked over to [member="Krest"] to answer the second half of the question, "and we could loose tens of billions of people and continue to survive as the hope of freedom had always lived inside us all, and that hope was the foundation of this New Republic, hope to stave off this new age of darkness we find ourselves in today."

Tobias knew that speaking those words were seen as becoming part of the Hawk Faction, but he was still very much still leading the Patriot Faction.

Finishing up he noticed that [member="Vulpesen"] had joined the group and spoke to [member="Faith Organa"] and [member="Riamah"], he was under the wrong impression and Tobias decided to correct the man, "Apologies sir, but the Queen has yet to decide on joining the Republic as of yet, though I am sure Chancellor Fati would be flattered by your kind words Mr?"

Out of the corner of his eyes, he was able to see that Masters [member="Jyoti Nooran"] and [member="Alexandra Feanor"] had entered the great ball room and were near one another. It seemed that the Jedi really were attracted to one another, though Tobias was uneducated in the difference between the two. Jedi were Jedi to him, a group of individuals that had their uses and skills, but were sentient beings like all others. The young women that accompanied Master Feanor was new, must had been her padawan, [member="Abigail Meredydd"]. He would great them another time after speaking with those he was with.

"Yes, well..." Veiere sought to interject before [member="Krest"]'s lack of subtlety could wound prides, "Let us hope that further losses can be avoided altogether..." he looked to [member="Tobias Dracks"] as he responded to the mans confidence in the New Republic. He could certainly empathize with the Senator's stance in their current climate, though too had seen that very same sense of moral ambition and sense of what was right, be torn down before him by the Sith Empire. The success of Government was so often built on the backs of the fallen, regardless of whether one sought peace and democratic leadership or ruled with a firm hand within a dictatorship. At the end of the day, Veiere had learned that the method in how you governed, would eventually fall and all that mattered in the end of things was the good that you could achieve for the people that relied upon you. The innocent. The public. Civilian life.

Veiere had however not come to speak on the likelihood of the Republic's success or failure however, but to simply show support in wherever their endeavors might lead them and those that would rally under their banners. Naturally, he had no intention of leaving Commenor to fend for itself and thus, his priorities remained solely with his home-world as far as positions of counsel were concerned. Public and political relations were another matter. Veiere Arenais, carried with him a great deal of history and not all of it influenced confidence in his wake. A former member of the Jedi Order, turned King, traitor and eventually succumbing to darkness, experience was perhaps the key word one might use to describe his path in life and certainly not without the sense of learning his lot in life the difficult way, trial and error by grave mistake and personal injury. Likely so, he would be the last person to voice his opinions of politics this evening when eclipsing the majority of peoples in similar positions, his perspective failed to see things solely black and white any longer. The Galaxy was a mix of grays, and perhaps what it needed the most was a people that led in genuine integrity and played not the game of first impressions and political influence. A farce dream to be sure.

[member="Alexandra Feanor"] caught Veiere's eye, a known face from a distant time, that which felt like an entirely different life now. She had founded the tree of life aboard the Jedi Praxeum Vessel that carried his former dreams from Yutan to Deneba. There, Veiere felt a shift within himself as the Force around him reacted to his emotional attachment to such memories, quickly to be dismissed as he glanced elsewhere in an attempt to rid himself of the visual failure, one of many during his time. [member="Jyoti Nooran"] stood nearby with a younger woman, though Veiere failed to recognize either of them, only their garments of which seemed to echo his previous affiliations.

[member="Riamah"] had been looking his way, though he didn't notice until the last moment and his brows lifted marginally as he wondered where they two had met before. Clearly it had been some time for she was right to assume that Veiere had lost sight of such memories. Perhaps a side-effect of the strenuous life he was living these days, though many had come and gone through his list of associations both within the Systems Alliance and outside of politics altogether. Turning back to Senator Dracks and Krest, Veiere dipped his head briefly; "Excuse me, I'm in need of a hard drink" He smiled as though he weren't serious, yet being in the spotlight during such events often only encouraged the judgement from those within the shadows.

On his way towards the nearest table offering various intoxicating beverages, Veiere made the effort to walk passed Riamah, sparing her a second glance. Curious yet still nothing coming to mind, perhaps the drink would remove him of the sense of tension that these events so often influenced, enough so to forget that such celebrations were being held during the time of his peoples struggle, let alone so many other world's falling to a similar fate. Perhaps he'd sink back two, just to be sure.

Aboard the custom nubian lay the Silver Assembly. For Josh, diplomatics was nothing new, but the name "Republic" still left him uneasy. The fact was that one could not escape trauma. They could only continue to move forward... But the past was always there. The past never went away. He couldn't pull a [member="Scherezade deWinter"] or [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] and just wipe it away. Not without shirking his responsibilities. He did not have the luxury that they did. Josh had to live with it, for the good of others. He had no room to be selfish, not anymore. So needless to say, there was a pit in his stomach. One that Josh had decided to wittle away in battle.

He couldn't really train the way he wanted to on this ship, so he had gone for image training instead. The Jedi Master had found a place of solace and had found his body levitating, sat down, cross-legged as he concentrated intensely on the visage of a battle. It was the one battle that always stuck out in his mind, for it was his final moments with his brother... Bittersweet as they were.

Left, right, parry. His brothers movements were the same as they had been that day, but they were sped up, more pressing. More concise due to Josh's remembering the battle with far more pressure due to it's emotional weight than it actually was physical. The battle raged on, as sweat beaded down the Jedi Master's forehead. He could imagine the hot, smouldering fires of Mustafar, the heat that even with his own fire resistances threatened to melt every inch of his body to nothing. The pace of the battle increased in tempo, and the motions combined with the unbearable heat caused more and more beads of sweat to fall down his face. But Josh remained calm. He kept himself now what he had not been that day, calm and collected even under the most intense of emotional strains. It was a sign of growth for him, a sign that he was not the same man that he had been that day.

But a strike across his cheek in his thoughts radiated so intense in his focus that something else flowed down his face. Blood. A streak of blood began to fall down his face, the sweat dripping like mad on the floor now as the blood rushed to join it. It did not fountain like the sweat, but there it was. His concentration on the battle made it feel real to the point that his body had registered itself taking damage.

But his mind, running on autopilot to run scenarios in an autonomous matter akin to the mind creating dreams and nightmares out of the person's control, would throw in a curveball that hitched his breath and heightened his emotions.

And in his head, off went his brother's.

The Jedi Master let out a gasp as his eyes opened wide. He found his concentration breaking, the levitation stopping as his body hurtled to the floor. Letting out a low groan, Josh would pick himself up, placing a hand over his face and watching the blood trickle between his fingers.

No, this result wouldn't do. He needed to be an example to the other Jedi. He couldn't lose his nerve like this. To let his emotions run this high...

He would have to start over. Run the drill again. But not now. Instead, he would clean the spots on the floor with a towel he'd taken with him, and promptly leave for a refresher to clean himself up before the big state of the union thing. It would be like it never happened.

But Josh was missing one piece of the puzzle. While he believed in the Jedi being treated, and being able to feel like human beings... He still had the notion that the things he was feeling were wrong.

"Presenting Josh DragonsFlame, The Silver Jedi's Master Of The Order!"
And there it was. Funny, somehow it hadn't sunk in fully until someone screamed it like that. There had been a ceremony and everything too, but for it to be called out for the entire galaxy to hear? It was weird as... Well... Either way, the announcement caused the Jedi Master to jump a little bit. But there it was. Chit, was he supposed to bring a +1 for this? He was definitely supposed to bring a +1 for this. Was Grandmaster [member="Jyoti Nooran"] his +1? It had been her idea to come here-Oh, probably not. Last time she had done so, she'd brought one of her own and he had to scramble to find one last minute. Which turned out to be an ex Dominion member. Well, that hadn't been an absolute mess at all. How did Josh keep finding himself in these situations?

Cleaned up and not leaving a trace of his mental spar, Josh walked in when his name was called. He hoped that the announcement wouldn't turn heads, but most things he did tended to these days. Regardless, he kept his head held high. To serve as the example, to help lead the Order into the future... That was his job now. And he would not fail in that. He had failed in a lot of things, perhaps... He had failed once as Grandmaster, he had failed as a husband, and sometimes he felt he was failing as a father. But Josh refused to fail here. He had steeled himself to give this everything he had.

As he did, he thought back to the other names that had been called, while he would join Jyoti, and the rest of the Assembly.

King Viere and Krest...

He knew both names and his head snapped to look toward them. Krest... Krest the man that had been his friend. The man that had been his confidante in the original CIS. Krest... The man that had let the dangling carrot of power get to his head and transform him. The man that he saw was not Krest, he knew. Krest was dead. His +1 though, [member="Veiere Arenais"] he knew as the King Of Commenor... And Lady Kay's husband. Were they still together, he wondered? Josh had been approached not too long ago with some rather troubling information, from a man who claimed to be a witness and survivor of a slaughter in Commenor, made to be silenced and keep his mouth shut... At least until Commenor and it's royal family was ruined. The man had claimed that the slaughter had been perpetuated by the Sith... And Lady Kay, a Sith Lord herself. Josh had appeared in public with Kay many times, which would explain why he went to him... And at first, he was skeptical. How many times did he mentally search the man who left no mental barriers? He wasn't lying. He couldn't be lying. And it had left Josh distraught. Not that he, or anyone else, could have known of course.

But Viere was a Jedi, wasn't he? What was his take? Did he even know?

He didn't feel comfortable talking to him about it. So far, the Republic name, Krest, Viere... All he had found was discomfort and he found himself wanting to leave very quickly. The speech itself came, and Josh couldn't find himself to pay much attention to it. It just felt... Ominous. It felt the same as an empire's form, weapons ready... It just didn't feel right. But Josh knew that his senses had been marred with bias for the Republic for a long time now. Still... It reminded him a lot of the presentation presented by Darth Tacitus. It was the same feeling. No difference. It made him feel no better and he continued to shift uncomfortably here and there. If he had known, perhaps he would have conveniently been off-planet with Jason at the time and couldn't make it.

Seeing [member="Alexandra Feanor"] should have softened him at least a little, but it didn't. She was with this lot, wasn't she? The speech and the feelings he incurred didn't make her presence make him feel anymore comfortable, friend or not.

But seeing the face of [member="Riamah"] did. His expression became warmer as he would find himself approaching the crimson-haired spitfire, gingerly taking her hands and lowering his head in respectful greeting. He remembered Jyoti's words regarding her, and unconsciously kept himself guarded. But he was still happy to see her. More than he would have been normally, even. He needed this.

"Hello to you."

Carefully concealed from the Force thanks to a little nifty ability that Josh had taught her, Madalena had watched the entire thing going on. Her interest levels were low, as she was here for two reasons. The first, she was supposed to be the CIS' representative. The second, was for Josh. She had a feeling something good was going to happen, and as his best friend, she'd wanted to be there.

Eyes ran over her body, and she smiled without being coy about it. She'd dressed for the occasion and wasn't shy about it. She clapped with the rest of the crowd and kept herself from screaming a huge WHOO HOO over them. The screams of excitement would wait.

Only when Josh separated himself from the speeches and podiums and all the other stuff that people managed to pretend were somehow both there and not there (Schrödinger's podium?) did she finally begin to move and make her way towards him, counting down inside her head.

He was talking to the redheaded lady that had been with them on that Goop mission a while back. Normally, she wouldn't have interfered. Right now, she was going to. And then she'd run back to CIS space to yet another mission that was waiting for her, as well as her twin brother, about whom she'd yet to speak to Josh about.

"Josh!" the curvaceous brunette yelled as she released her force cloak, arms wrapping around her best friend, "congratulations congratulations congratulations!" Mid hug, she waved a hand towards [member="Riamah"], and then hugged him again.

Noah Corek

Cocked, Locked and a Smoking Barrel
Factory Judge
"Presenting General Noah Corek, Head of Special Operations Command."

As soon as Noah stepped into the room, dressed in the standard dress uniform of the New Republic Army with his officer cap tucked under his left arm, he felt a few eyes turn towards him. This didn't surprise him as in the last three months since he had been promoted and appointed to head up the New Republic's fledgling SOCOM he had garnered a reputation with politicians and military personnel alike. Politicians saw him as the typical stubborn and uncompromising general who didn't even bother to hide his contempt for them. Many anti-military/war senators had viciously campaigned against his appointment but in the end had lost for one simple reason, Noah knew what he was doing. Of course knowing Chancellor Fati personally and being well respected by Vice Chancellor [member="Tobias Dracks"] helped.

While the political side of the New Republic hated Noah the military side loved and some even revered him. While the Senate saw him as a typical general the military saw him as an atypical general. They respected his over two and a half decades of experience and his unsaid policy of informality when talking to both lower ranking officers and enlisted. The reason they loved the general though was because he treated every soldier fairly and equally, from the greenest private to the most seasoned general. Most understood that this was mostly to keep morale up but they still loved him for it.

Unfortunately Noah wasn't in his environment tonight. Instead of being surrounded by soldiers he was surrounded by politicians and bureaucrats who loathed him almost as much as he loathed them. Noah had expected this though and had brought someone along to not only have someone to talk to but as a sort of protection as well, though Noah could handle himself in a fight just as well as when he was younger. That person just happened to be his own daughter. Melissa Corek, at the insistence of her father had left the Alliance in Exile's Navy and had instead transferred her commission as a captain to the Republic Navy, in particular their Starfighter Corps.

Like her father she was dressed in her services dress uniform with her cap tucked under left arm. "I hate politicians." Was Melissa's simple remark after she surveyed the room like her father. Both Noah and Melissa had grown up on the mid-levels of Coruscant and had been raised Mandalorian, Noah by his mother who was Mandalorian and Melissa by her father, so besides the ingrained disdain from being soldiers they also had it from being both lower Coruscanti and Mandalorian. "Yeah but we have to mingle.....doesn't mean we can't get a drink beforehand though." As he said this Noah looked towards his daughter and grinned before they started making their way towards the bar.
