Childhood and The Order of Sanctuary

Teyla was abandoned as an infant and found on the doorstep of the Ee'everwest household on Naboo. She was taken in by them and raised with the rest of the Ee’everwest children whom she formed close relationships with. The majority of her early childhood was largely free of incident. At the beginning of her formative years, Jagen and Sarnae sent their adoptive daughter to be employed at The Order of Sanctuary. There, Teyla was groomed, polished, educated, and trained to fight as a warrior queen. Her formidable talent was what lead to her being chosen for service within her teens, going on to serve for many years and growing into womanhood as the most devout handmaiden. When the time came for the Queen to finally retire, the order came for Teyla to leave the service and go build a life for herself. Lost without the structure of what she believed to be her sacred calling, she did the only thing she knew and reluctantly followed orders. Without direction, Teyla clung to whatever structure she could find and eventually signed herself up for the Republic Criminal Justice Academy. During that time, Teyla maintained various side jobs as a security detail to support her education. A year later, she graduated and joined the CSF.

The Thistlebark Killer

Graduating at the top of her class from the academy, Teyla was given the prestigious honor of Junior Detective; with good reason: she was brilliant. Strong willed, well trained, and fierce, Teyla was a welcome addition to the department. As she settled into her new life, the Naboo girl crossed paths with a man she'd met during her time as a security detail, Corellian playboy and entrepreneur, Baros Sal-Soren Baros Sal-Soren .

Initially, Teyla and Baros' relationship was strained. He was reckless, full of himself, and a womanizer to boot. She was stubborn, strongly convicted by moralities, and brash. Despite their vast differences, Teyla couldn't help being swept up in their many adventures. Eventually their relationship improved, finding common ground the longer they worked together on the Thistlebark Murders - a series of serial killings that happened in Coruscant over the course of two years, with Teyla and Baros at the heart and center of the investigation.

Sadly, despite all of their best efforts the crime would go unsolved and the murderer never brought to justice.

Teyla took the failure of losing TBK hard, but her unwavering commitment to her work and a stubborn resolve to solve the case kept her going. This stubbornness would put Baros life in danger after ignoring multiple threats from the killer to cease, went on ignored. This lead to Baros being nearly killed. At that point, the Naboo handmaiden tendered her resignation and walked away.

Baros and Teyla decided to keep in contact after their adventures and within a few months of her resignation, she accepted a job offer to work as head of his new security firm. Spending more time together than ever before, the dynamic of their relationship began to change and a deep fondness developed between them. However, neither one of them would admit to in any romantic feelings they harbored in an effort to maintain a professional relationship. Teyla digging deeper into work as a distraction, and Baros diving between the thighs of whatever pretty woman crossed his path.

Unfortunately, this would be what broke them.

The Experiments of Ferian Adair

By the time of the Sith invasion on Coruscant, Teyla had returned to service as an officer of the CSF and was part of the ground team that remained planet side to evacuate citizens to safety. As a loyal officer, Teyla remained until the very end, leaving her with no time to make an escape for herself. She and many of her colleagues were captured, several of them executed on the spot, but Teyla was promptly passed along to Ferian Adair who had different ideas in mind.

Under the Sith Lords care, she suffered as his own personal lab rat. Poked, prodded, and changed in many ways that she still doesn't fully grasp. Patiently she endured the torture, all of the while formulating a plan of escape.

The Life of A Smuggler

Teyla went into hiding through the following years after her escape, constantly moving locations in the outer rim to avoid capture by the various thugs Ferian would send after her.

It worked well for a while, but with the constant pain of her extensive injuries Teyla set out to find a more permanent solution to hide and recover. On the planet Kinooine she took up occupancy at an abandoned house a few miles out from the local settlement of Firrerreons. While living there she kept mostly to herself, going by the name Miri and applying some of her basic knowledge about droids to take work in repairing them. After a few months, Teyla adapted to her new rustic lifestyle and even managed to befriend some of the locals. Life on Kinooine was unremarkable, quiet, and dull. At first she found comfort in the monotonous turn her life had taken, but as time went on a deep longing planted itself in her belly. Her mind often drifted back to home, to the artistically sculpted walls of the Ee'everwest estate and the laughter that filled their halls. She thought of the Solleu River that her and her siblings would play in during the summers, of Alora's good-natured smile, and of the stories Kintel would recount on sleepless nights. Loneliness carved canyons into her soul, and the more she tried to ignore it, the wider the chasm became. After weeks of indecisiveness, Teyla took what little belongings she had accumulated and set course for the closest rumored shadowport. One way or another, she was going to go home.

That solution would come in the form of one smuggling captain with Teyla hired on as the pilot for a vessel called The Inquisitor's Revenge. Damon Riggs Damon Riggs was commander of the vessel, a man with demons to match her own. The two found a kindred spirit, and eventually fell in love. A love that would blossom after nine months in the form of two children, Marcus and Careina Riggs. The budding family made plans to rebuild their lives and raise their family together, but that dream never came to pass. Shortly following a private wedding ceremony, Damon left for the Galactic Alliance to seek legitimate work and join their military. He never made it to his destination.

After nearly a year of no word the papers came, declaring her husband dead. While Teyla had held onto hope that he might still be out there, the deceleration of his death sobered her greatly. Gathering their children and what remained of her life, Teyla set a course through the stars and headed home.

To Walk The Path of A Jedi

Returning to her home world of Naboo after nearly a decade, Teyla was encouraged by her eldest sister Alora to sign up for the Confederacy's Knights Obsidian and pursue Force training. With an extensive background in combat and a glowing record of service during her time as a Handmaiden, she confidently took on the challenge and joined the Order. With a leaning towards the light and a high midi-chlorian count, Teyla was soon assigned a Jedi Master from the Lotus Chapter, Luca Ioneşti.

Outside Character Observations of Teyla
___________________________________________________
“Riggs lips turned up into a smile as he took her in. She was absolutely gorgeous, and if looks was the number one factor for the job, she by far had the job locked up.” - Damon Riggs Damon Riggs

“Eor crouched beside the woman in the leaves, his boots dangling between his knees, as he got himself a closer look at the sleeping beauty... wasn't there a legend, a tale of sleeping maidens and kissing them?” - Greyhide

“Minutes later saw him at the threshold, at the end of a corridor that fed into the room, spying Teyla just as her gaze swept away from where he now was, his eyes on her, and having a hard time of looking away.” - Luca Ioneşti

“Today, he had come with a new acquaintance, an exquisite woman named Teyla. Perhaps it was fate that their paths crossed, yet they soon found a mutual appreciation for the Light and for stepping off Naboo when they could.” - Abel Denko Abel Denko

“He quite liked Teyla, he felt for her and understood her position. She had been through a lot, much like him.” - Caden Evesa Caden Evesa

“Seeing Teyla was always a welcome break from her studies, an absolute breath of fresh air. To see her all done up and looking every bit the beauty that she was put a light in Eline's eyes, and when her younger sister wrapped her in an embrace, she was glad for the affection. Half-starved for it, if she were to be honest.” - Eline Djo

“Just seeing an old friend brought warmth and hope to his somewhat broken spirit, perhaps a little talk with Teyla could help fix some of the wrongs from the past and additionally reminisce of the good old times. Arekk trusted her well enough to spill his guts, just to hear her always encouraging advice.” - Arekk Arekk

“She was the very epitome of everything that he did not look for in a woman - committed. He had seen it in her eyes the day that she questioned him, and in all moments since. Teyla Ee'everwest knew what she wanted and would commit herself to that path. He respected her immensely. It had once been a grudging respect, but now it was deeper.” - Baros Sal-Soren Baros Sal-Soren

"She had always been quick on the take, but often in response to his barbs at first, which were perhaps unnecessary in hindsight. She had her brushes with darkness, yet had not fallen. Faced temptation and persevered. She was strong in ways that he was not, though the line between strength and stubbornness when it came to her was progressively easier to parse as their partnership evolved, yet it had never been truly easy." - Luca Ioneşti

"His charge for the evening was Teyla, a woman who had a solid head on her shoulders. She was not bereft of talents that could protect her person; and she was the furthest thing from impulsive." - Hisashi Hisashi
