Naboo

Lake Country

Sunset

The Lake Country of Naboo had, for the longest time, been a place of seclusion. Where the rich and well-to-do had private resorts, retreats, or other personal getaways. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Naboo's waterways, the area has long been the epicenter of peace and tranquility. And now, it was to play home to a select number of the Knights Obsidian. A small compound, what had once been a mighty fortress, was now the point from which Voph intended to lead the Knights Obsidian. With space for each of the Obsidian Masters to conduct their business, the Lord Commander to pursue his goals, and the facilities for students to effectively learn what these great minds may have to teach them.

But tonight, training was the least of their concerns. Quite out of character for him, Voph had called a gathering to celebrate the Master's Retreat. The Citadel was still the crown jewel of the Knights Obsidian. The primary school for those wishing to learn the ways of the Force. The Retreat was merely an extension of the Knights, and a gesture to the people of Naboo that their protectors were close at hand. Voph found himself clad in a simple robe for tonight's proceedings, lightsaber nowhere to be found. And, for the first time, his left arm would be worn on full display for those to see: A souvenir from a kidnapping attempt over Felacat.

The time for the Gala had come. Members of the Knights Obsidian were always welcome. Wherever Voph made his home, so too was their home. But invitations were extended to others. Especially the newly crowned Queen of Naboo. The Office of the Vicelord, Viceroys of all planets, and even a select few members of the Defense Force had all been extended invitations to join the festivities. The open spaces around the harbor had been set with tables and food, lights and music. Tour Droids were showing interested parties around the facility. Voph smiled thinly at the sight below him. He stood in his quarters, not yet having joined the party. Attaching his ring to his left ring finger, he paused for a moment to caress the thin blue glow that resided between black bands, reflecting on the things of the past. This was, after all, his second time within this once great fortress. It held many memories for him. But now, it was time to help others forge memories of their own. And so he strode from his quarters, down to join the guests that had seen fit to attend this Gala....

It was strange being back on Naboo and among a crowd that bathed themselves in such extravagance. Teyla’s life had taken so many turns and detours, that it was easy to feel lost when stepping back into the skin of a daughter from a well-to-do family. Much had changed since she’d been that person. Though, at the insistence of her sister, she was making an effort to play her part, which so happened to include her recent acceptance as a Squire into the Knights Obsidian. The reasons why, Teyla kept like she did most things: hidden, and close to her heart.

Intelligent chestnut eyes scanned the room to try and catch sight of her sister, Eline Djo, whom she’d somehow been separated from in the migration from the parade to the Gala. Instead of finding her sister though, she caught sight of Lady Leora, always easily identifiable by her ghastly taste in dress…

Eye contact was made.

Chit.

With a purposeful smile, the eager woman turned,

...and started heading her way.

Chit. Chit. Chit!

Realizing the direness of her situation, and wanting to be spared the typical drivel a social climber like Leora spouted, the statuesque brunette turned to bolt out of there.

Unfortunately, one can only move so quickly in a dress and heels through a congested crowd, with drink in hand. It was a precarious dance; one that ended with her knocking into a tall somebody and emptying the contents of her wine glass onto their assumed expensive coat, while the rest spilled onto the silk of her dress.

Hundred Handed Giant

Objective: Show up to the big gathering and party/Stalk Naboo for prey after...

Where once she had confined herself to The Morpheus, having grown more scared and overwhelmed by this era the longer she was in it, only doing Confederacy assignments where necessary, the weight of the past months of stress, first with the attack on Castagne, then the invasion of Atrisia by the Sith Lord Mythos, then her torture at The Amalgam's hands, Nine had wanted to walk the galaxy once more. Nine had begun to tentatively wander the galaxy alone again, as she had when she had first awoken in this strange era where the old morality no longer applied

About a few days before Kyyrk Kyyrk decided to throw his party, Nine had been busying herself in the more isolated parts of Naboo, non-lethally consuming the psychic energy of others. Farmers, Businessmen. Mixing it up with impromptu vigilantism in mainly focusing on petty thieves. They lost about four to five hours of memories. Mostly lunch related ones.

Nine was on a mission to purge weakness in herself. Her isolationism had only made her and her family easy prey.

Of course, she struck only at night, in isolated areas...never with cameras. Yeah, it was like the old days, except now she knew she wanted to be what she was. She had accepted what she was.

Her Katana and her old lightsaber were at her side as she walked the Lake Country to the Fortress Voph had invited the Knights to. She was one if them, but she had never felt like she had truly belonged. Still. The Confederacy remained the best answer for moral flexibility.

She battled her nausea from being in direct sunlight as she walked to the Gala, clad in her hooded kimono, forest green with white rose embroidery, the only part of her face visible was the glowing purple dots at the center of her eyes, as her hands clenched instinctively, detecting prey. She no longer hated her thirst. No longer feared it.

Sating the thirst allowed her to be with her family.

Nine decided to mingle. Her movement did not look natural as she moved across the ground, seemingly gliding due to how her robes hid her leg movements.

She spotted Teyla Sal-Soren Teyla Sal-Soren and glided over to her, watching as she spilled her drink.

"I've found a combination of Lemon Juice and Mandalorian Salt gets those kinds of stains right out..." Nine said helpfully her naturally deep contralto. "Good taste in Wine though...what is that? Alderaani Port?"

Naboo, Lake Country.

Danielle Mueller wasn't at all well known among the Confederate Defense Corps she had both recently up for. Up until most recently she'd been a mere civilian, a nobody to anyone of importance within Confederacy Space; Yet with her experience in basic training and her three years spent on Gacia, she had reluctantly signed on in need of credits and a roof over her head. It wasn't until they'd conducted their medical and fitness exams, that the prospect of her being Force Sensitive had been raised.

The notion of the Force wasn't all that popular on Shor. In fact it was more of a fairy tale told you children than anything and even the younglings were often skeptical. When Dee had been referred on to the Knights Obsidian, she'd scoffed at the notion as some sort of ridiculous prank. The problem with qualified officials is that the more you hear something, the more inclined you become in believing in it. Such was what had led her this far, at the encouragement of her superiors within the CDC..

Dee wasn't exactly the type to dress up for others, special events and that sort. In fact she'd never been invited to a friends house, let alone be invited to something as exclusive as this sort of gathering apparently was. Wandering into the great hall, she strolled with her hands in her pockets, hood pulled back only half way from her fringe and eyeing the other occupants curiously.

Thus far there was no one she recognized. The two crazy yet fun loving girls from the beach of Teyr weren't here... Cali Ziiva Cali Ziiva or Aadya Volke Aadya Volke had been the highlight of her recent month, truth be told. Dee had hoped she might run into them again. Still, perhaps some of the others around here might be kind enough to strike up a conversation with her, she wasn't exactly the confident sort at sparking great lengths of discussion with strangers, an anxious fact brought on by the inner-demons hidden beneath her skin.

The Nightmother of the Solanaceae strode through the halls of he retreat. While Naboo had one of those yellow stars common throughout the galaxy, the woman of Dathomir found this world far more agreeable than Geonosis. On par with Ryloth's habitable region, in fact. It had been a surprise when the government decided to permanently relocate after the Viceroys had been secured from on-going terrorist activity. Though Vytal couldn't say it was an unwelcome one. Naboo was a world full of life that a Witch could enjoy -- at least those not consumed with their research, or secretly learning to become more powerful to rule Creation or some nonsense.

Dressed in the white and gold robes provided by Voph as Obsidian Lord of the Solanaceae, member of the Master Council of the Knights Obsidian, the pale woman set hoot into the hall where the Knights gathered. Her green eyes slid about the many faces. A nod and smile greeted most present. Every so often a word or two would pass expressing how pleasant it was others could join them this day.

For the time being, Vytal made her way toward the front of the room curious which of the other Masters were in attendance. Much as she didn't mind engaging those present, her demeanor seemed to cause most to stay clear. A Nightsister did not force herself on others; however she was a bit conflicted at time over that and being the Nightmother desiring to instruct others.

The large, bushy black tail gently swept against the legs of those in the crowd as the Akitsu moved among them. She smiled, waved, and her ears pivoting every which way to catch all the conversations in progress. It was still an experience being among so many strange creatures. It was hard not to stick her snout in their face, gaze into their eyes, and ask them all sorts of questions. Miyako only managed to resist that urge because of the overriding need to find a place among them; but that would only last until someone stuck out and drew the fox-like woman in close.

Then someone wearing a hood caught her blue eyes. A hood? Wasn't this a gathering? You only concealed yourself to go unnoticed, but that was the opposite of being in attendance. Naturally, there was only one conclusion -- they wanted to be noticed, but they didn't know it yet. Miyako resolved to assist them in this.

Danielle Mueller would soon find her path and her vision filled by the black and red furred woman with a small, sharp-toothed grin on Miyako's lips. "Hey there. My name's Miyako. What's yours?" Was that too abrupt? "I'm new around here. What about you? I think I know three faces in this entire faction. You ever feel like it's a lot to take in?" If the woman was hiding her face (even slightly) that didn't scream comfort or familiarity with her environment. Seemed like the other of them would have a lot in common. Well, aside from Dee lacking a large, bushy tail. No one was perfect.

Miyako stepped forward and to one side of Dee before she pivoted around and slipped her arm about Dee's. "Think they have something to eat and drink around here? There's so much foreign food I've never had." Unless the other woman refused, the Akitsu would merrily guide the other woman through the crowd to find where the refreshments had been set up without asking permission, or worrying about personal space.

GALA

Aadya had been within the vicinity so to speak. Well, that was the excuse that she was going to use if someone asked her. In all honesty, she wanted to check out The Retreat for herself. Call it the natural curiosity of her wolf or just plain curious. She didn’t care. However the brown wolf had received an invitation to attend the gala, so here she was attending the event to enjoy some alcohol and see what mischief that she could get up to. Obviously, playing around with weapons was off the table, figurative and literally. The woman had made sure to show up with no weapons on her. No weapons that everyone else could see. She still had her teeth and claws that would come out to play if she ever wanted to shift and scare some of the patrons.

The woman flagged down a server and swiped a drink off of the platter when the server came close. She lifted the drink to her lips then and tasted the bubbly champagne upon her tongue, but it was her pale blue eyes that caught sight of someone familiar. While she had a habit of pulling individuals out of awkward situations, much like she had when it had come to Rann meeting Voph, this one seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. It was the fifteen year old that she had met on the beach, the one that she probably got drunk and probably shouldn’t have. It was someone of whom she didn't expect to meet again, especially considering that she hadn’t exactly known that the young one was a part of the Knight’s Obsidian. She also didn’t recognize the other one with her.

Taking another sip of the bubbly liquid, the wolf moved through the crowd as heeled feet carried her over to her unsuspecting prey. One of whom she had wondered about from the day that she had said her goodbyes to on the beach. Finally, the gun nut moved up behind the girl, ”Dee!” Aadya exclaimed and then draped herself over the girl from behind while she laughed in the girl’s ear. ”Why I didn’t expect to see you here. Are your parents here? Is that why you’re here?” She asked as she lifted her weight off Dee and turned to see if she could at least see where the girl’s parents were. Come to think of it, she hadn’t seen the girl’s parents at the beach either and her pale gaze turned to view the girl for a moment in quiet thought. Did she have any parents?

She lifted the glass of bubbly to her lips and took another sip, only for her nose to scrunch up at the taste and she sighed while she shook her head. ”I can never understand as to why some people enjoy the bubbly. Maybe it’s too sweet for my taste, or maybe I just enjoy my whiskey too much.” The woman swirled the drink around in her glass while she pondered about the situation at hand. The other one smelled funny and her pale blue eyes took in the furry creature with a slight interest at hand. Her nose scrunched up for a moment and the wolf wondered as to what fresh hell this new person was. However, she decided to remain polite and she reached a hand out to the other person. ”My name is Aadya and this here,” She said as she ruffled the girl’s hair, ”Is my friend Dee. Nice to meet you.”

Aadya paused for a moment as she pointed a thumb towards the bar, ”If you’re looking for the bar it’s over there. Although we may not get away with feeding this one here alcohol.” This time, the brown wolf said to herself.

"Hey there. My name's Miyako.
What's yours?"
.

Danielle blinked once. Then once again.

"Sorry?" she asked, having been caught completely off guard by the sight of the Akitsu, Miyako Saki Miyako Saki . She'd never met someone as physically varied as this one, and despite having met Aadya before even the later had seemed relatively normal compared to most humanoids that Dani had run into before now.

"I'm sort of new, I guess" she replied apprehensively as the Akitsu seemed to help herself to Dee's personal space, taking her arm up in their own. "I...Er..." she moved to politely argue however they seemed to be moving before she could get the words out. This other girl(?) seemed awfully chatty and although Dani could be the same, this was all moving very fast...

"DEE!".

"Oh Gods, what-...-Wait, I know that voice" Danielle had to stop herself from responding with an elbow to the girl who had snuck up behind her, but it was the voice that put caution to the young teenager as she recognized the surprise attacker to be none other than Aadya Volke Aadya Volke . Thankfully she was a familiar face among so many unknowns.

"No, I'm on my own" Danielle replied to the sobering question regarding her parents, her gaze shifting somewhat uncomfortably. However she fortunately wasn't to be given the time to dwell upon such things as the two girls seemed to share introductions, Aadya whom gave Dee's name up so voluntarily, causing Danielle to turn a little and raise a hand in a ginger wave.

"I've only been enlisted since a few days ago. A couple of us got an invitation...-We must have caught someone on a good day, I suppose" she explained her being there. Danielle knew extremely little about the Force, still pertained to the belief that Jedi and Sith were fables told to scare children and that these Knights were something more akin to the warriors as the title originated from. Honorary combatants and wardens who stood to protect the people...

But really, she had so little an idea of what to expect that she'd basically showed up with out a clue to her name.

Voph strode quietly through the gathered crowds, offering nods of greeting an exchanging quick pleasantries where he could. A number of individuals from outside the Obsidian had joined them tonight, many of whom Voph unfortunately found himself listing as close associates. Hazards of being the head of their order, he supposed. With influence came those that would seek to twist it for their own gain. Ever since the emergency order declaring the Inquisition, Voph had been inundated with request to investigate this person or that company.
Some of those faces he saw here tonight. But, he was under no obligation to speak with them. As he moved through the crowd, he spotted a cluster of Knights and Squires around one of the newer members of the order. Mueller, if Voph recalled correctly. As he drew past them, he heard Danielle Mueller speculate that they must have caught someone on a good day to receive an invitation to a gathering like this. "Any who share brotherhood with the Order is welcome here. Tonight, and always." He offered a gentle smile as he passed, not pausing to engage in conversation. She seemed to have enough company in the way of Aadya Volke Aadya Volke and Miyako Saki Miyako Saki .
Voph collected two small glasses of...some kind of alcoholic liquid (wine, he suspected) as he made his way through the crowd. He paused next to a gold-clad woman and extended a hand, offering her one of the drinks. "Deputy Commander. Always a pleasure to roust you from your cauldron." This was said in jest, as Voph knew well that Vytal Noctura had many duties to her people, and was far more likely to be found either consuming or disseminating knowledge of some ancient and arcane art. Voph held his own glass aloft in his cybernetic hand. "To new homes, new starts, and new friends." As one of the few that knew the true story of what happened aboard the Confessor, the toast might have a very different meaning, beyond the context of celebrating a new headquarters. Perhaps it was intended. Or perhaps it was just coincidence...

The upright fox's blue eyes sparkled in the light as they watched Danielle's speechless facial expression. Miyako got that all the time. Even with a few other furry creatures in the galaxy such as the Cathar and Zygerrians, her meticulously groomed fur attracted all the attention. Not to mention her bushy tail -- that was something only she possessed among all the other species she'd met so far. No small amount of pride in how fluffy and soft it was, or how none could come close to matching it.

Even before the shout, Miyako's arm slipped out from around Dee's and the furry woman hopped two feet to the side as she turned to face the newcomer, Aadya. The foxy woman's knees and back were bent just enough to be limber in case the wolfish woman launched herself forward. Miyako's nose had picked up the lupine creature and there'd been an unconscious sense of alarm. Not that she knew why. Aadya looked like most others present. Except for a look in her eyes.

So the meek one was 'Dee' and the lupine was 'Aadya.' Well, the Wolf had been thoughtful enough to introduce the pair. Miyako didn't like the thought of calling them 'hairless girl' or something equally impersonal.

Despite the two eying one another, not entirely certain who or what they were, Miyako reached out to take Aadya's hand with her own. Claws retracted, of course. "I'm Miyako," she repeated for Aadya's benefit. "Pleasure."

"Alcohol?"
The Akitsu blinked at the word. Her eyes slipped to Dee before they went back to Aadya. Slowly, she stepped forward and leaned her upper body forward as Miyako asked, "What's 'alcohol?'" It wasn't a Basic word Miyako was familiar with. Even mentally sounding it out in her head yielded no clues. The famed Akitsu intellect didn't tap into some Infinite Library and could only work with what a well-groomed woman knew.

"I was just telling Dee," Miyako smirked in Dee's direction, "I'm new to this region and this...pack." Probably not the right word for the hairless ones. Certainly not for the lizards she'd seen here or there. Hopefully the pair that seemed familiar with one another would humor a fox. Perhaps they'd get into trouble together. Trouble was always best done in groups, after all.

Ordinarily Vytal did not consume alcohol because it could cloud one's mind, and mental clarity was instrumental in spiritual matters. However, when Voph drew near and extended a glass to her, the Nightmother reached out to accept it without hesitating. This was a Retreat, was it not? A gathering of Knights to socialize. It would not hurt for her to imbibe a small amount of drink in communion with her peers.

'Deputy Commander.' There was a title that carried with it a great deal of weight a woman of Dathomir had not expected to come by in her time among the Confederacy. Perhaps it was only in such a faction she would. There was no bias against those of the Dark Side or inclined toward Witchcraft rather than use of the Force in the Confederacy. Likely due to the Vicelord's own history with both. Nevertheless, to think she would have so many Sisters and Brothers to watch over now... For Vytal could not favor the Solanaceae above the rest, even as she tended to their needs in particular. A curious position to find herself; one she was glad Voph had decided not to test the extent of by succumbing to circumstances aboard the Confessor.

"You can roust a Witch from her cauldron, Lord Commander, but you will never part her from the spirits," she replied just as lightheartedly, even if her words were the truth. The Nightmother could not take a vacation from the voices from Beyond. Not without entering a Force Dead Zone, but Vytal hardly considered such places relaxing.

The Witch matched Voph in lifting her own glass. "To the future." One Vytal was pleased to see Voph making strides toward. Before events transpired on the Confessor, the Nightmother had been concerned such a long pursuit being ended might leave him adrift in purpose. That Voph chose to toast a new beginning, however, spoke of promise.

After they indulged in sharing a drink, Vytal's eyes fell back to Voph. "That they have chosen to tarry on Naboo was surprising, was it not? I shall need to ensure a Covenstead is established here. What of the other Chapters? Have they begun making preparations?" Perhaps the central facility still resided on Geonosis, but it seemed appropriate to have a place on this world for gatherings and materials so they could remain close to the Viceroyalty. Not that Vytal would shed any tears if she found herself free of needing to worry what such people did, or if they existed at all. Her responsibilities, which ensured a place for the Solanaceae at 'the Table,' demanded otherwise, and so it would be done.

GALA

Aadya heard the sombering tone in the girl’s voice and her head angled slightly to the right while a frown creased her forehead. Such a tone didn’t mean that her parents weren’t coming or that they didn’t want to come, it meant something else and she listened to the girl. Not only did she listen, she watched the girl squirm, or at least her eyes gave it away that she squirmed on the inside. The woman perked a brow, but she knew of the telltale signs when it came to loss. She herself had come from a pack who was dead and her father had perished along with them. Her mother was still alive, so she tended to look to the brighter side of things. ”Well! You can be my honorary sister.” The wolf said as she leaned forward and said softly, ”I’ll show you my gun collection later.” She said with a wink.

The brown wolf rose to her full height then as Voph passed by and she bowed her head in a quiet greeting before she turned to view the other one. The one whose species she wasn’t at all familiar with and reached out to lightly take the offered hand to shake it. ”Miyako huh? I mean I would ask as to what you are, but that seems to be a little rude. Ah what the heck.” Aadya leaned forwards as she sniffed, ”What are you?” She had said it in such a way that it sounded as if she truly meant it, then a smirk curved her lips and she perked a brow. ”I’m only yanking your chain. It doesn’t matter what you are, a pack is a pack and this pack is more than friendly. We welcome short stuffs and animals alike!”

She lifted the glass to her lips then and finished off her drink and she scrunched up her nose at the taste. ”Ugh champagne, I never get used to the taste and the bubbles. They always seem to go right up the nose.” Aadya said as she pressed a finger to her nose for a moment. ”As for what alcohol is, it’s a drink that people get drunk on and makes them do stupid things, like run around naked or jump off buildings. Some call it liquid courage, I call it a drink where you have a good time!” A hand lightly patted Dee’s shoulder then as she lifted her gaze and glanced around at all of the people that were attending. ”Sadly though, I have to be on my best behavior. We gotta make sure that we represent properly at a shindig like this.”

A thought occurred to her then as she smirked, ”Although, I’m sure that I can swipe a few bottles later and we can all get drunk in my room. Granted my weapons are not stored there, but that’s ok. I’m sure we can find something on the holonet to watch and laugh at a few shows. Watch something funny.” She then shrugged as she sighed wistfully, ”In any case, I have to be on my best behavior. At least for the gala. The after party can happen in my room when I can get changed into something like pants.” Aadya shook her head then as she looked at her attire and then at Dee’s ”I envy your attire, it looks super comfortable. What do you think, Miyako? Mine or hers? Cause I’m definitely digging the pants and the hoody.”

She paused as she went to place the empty glass upon a server’s tray, only to turn back to her companions, ”Because a dress is most definitely not at all comfortable.” The woman perked a brow then as she chuckled, ”But I’m also digging that tail my friend.”

Kurenai had arrived rather late to the party and for one it was due to taking a while to get ready. Often she'd opt for a more traditional dress from her home planet but had decided to wear her older social suit from when she first had joined the knights. Unsurprising said suit wasn't as good a fit anymore resulting in a few last minute changes which cut into her arrival time. Still, better late then never the lord marshal soon arriving at the Gala eye glancing around at those that had already arrived.

Some where familiar, herself noticing Kyyrk Kyyrk quite easily, along with him she also sensed the presence of Night Mother Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura . Probably the most notable one was the scent of Nine Lives Nine Lives , somehow who she had technically speaking knew long before becoming a knight. As for the rest they were either new or still unknown to herself, those being two women and a canine like alien that she had never seen before.

Straightening out her suit a little she slowly approached the small group, giving a casual wave in that general direction though mainly towards Voph,. After all he had been the one to send the invitation and she needed to apologize for her late arrival. "Sorry for being late, I was experiencing wardrobe troubles believe it or not". "I hope I am not interrupting anything".

"Any who share brotherhood with the Order is welcome here.
Tonight, and always."
Danielle hadn't yet met the Lord Commander in person, or any of the senior ranking Knights Obsidian for that matter. yet she offered the man a glancing smile as he walked on by having offered his piece in response to the remark she'd made, now feeling as though perhaps she needed to be a little more wary in her word use.

Glancing back to Miyako and Aadya, she gave a toothy smile while feigning a grimace at the same time, a little embarrassed by the distraction. Still, it was very generous of them to offer the Squires a place of residence there, and Dee had sort of been relying on it as she'd been wandering the streets of Theed for the most part since she arrived on Naboo.

"Don't worry Miyako, I'm a little in over my head as well..." she looked back to the Akitsu thoughtfully. Despite their obvious differences, they were both newer than most present in the gathering and while she knew nothing about Danielle, the Fox-like female had called them part of a pack, which Danielle could only assume was something like a family but in a more natural/animal sense? Was that a discriminatory thing to think? She certainly wasn't going to ask.

"And no Aadya, we're not doing that again..." Dee glanced back at her friend sharply, though not without a wry smile. Food and fluid was supposed to stay down once ingested but the day they had gotten her drunk on Teyr, that very much wasn't the case. "I really don't want to blow my chance of having a place to stay" she added, to give a little more clarity to what she'd be risking if they decided her conduct wasn't appropriate and subsequently kicked her to the curb.

As for Aadya's dress, it was quite beautiful, although it also wasn't something that Dee would've felt comfortable wearing. Baggy loose clothes like her own were much more subtle, they didn't show every curve or imperfection of your body the way a dress like hers could for someone that didn't have the physique for it. Aadya certainly did, yet Dee's self-esteem told her that she'd have had no hope in pulling it off as well as her friend could.

"You look very nice, Aadya. Don't be silly" she retorted, a playful hint to her tone as she dismissed her friends remarks as nonsensical.

Rubber-soled boots tapped on the ground with a merry jig to them. The hood to his rather simply coloured robes was down for a change, allowing himself to feel the sun on his skin for a change. He had even gone to the trouble of trimming his beard and hair down, though he wouldn't be able to give an honest answer as to why he did it for the Galaxy's umptillions of credits.

His bleach-silver eyes shone with a wild, savage glint, and he seemed to have an extra spring in his step. Perhaps it was the proximity to his people, his Archduchy, his ancestral homeground. Or perhaps it was the clean air, the general air of positivity that surrounded Naboo. It was an amazingly beautiful and calming place, afterall.

He had invited his beloved, Zahra Arcturus, to enjoy the gala with him. An open invitation to meet him at the fortress, as he had unfortunately been absent from her when the notification reached him. Yet surely that was no reason she couldn't enjoy the sun and good times with him? Though the more he dwelt on the thought, the less he seemed to think she would actually show up. After all... it was almost everything she seemed to despise, the sun, large gatherings of people, general merriment and jolliness, not to mention it was a party!

Though the more he thought about how nice it would be to have her company with him, the less he seemed to enjoy the company he was presently in, or rather, about to be in. He had to admit, he had not oft shared a drink with the Lord Commander or his fellow Lord Marshal. Come to think of it, he had to admit that he had never shown his social side to them, nor met them on any less than a formal basis.

He was also faintly aware of one of his apprentice's presence at the gala, Aadya Volk. The newest of his apprentices, but not to say the least. From what he could see from afar insofar, she was enjoying the company of her fellow squires and knights. Good of her to form bonds now, particularly amongst her peers.

Though he would gladly share her company, he decided to allow her to seek him out rather than crash her social antics like the father that thought he was still in with the times. Now he paid heed to the lack of a drink in his hand, and quickly rectified it by seeking out the nearest source of ale, and taking from it a bottle of Alderaanian Ale.

He took the top out of it as he casually walked over to the gathering of Obsidian Lords. He arrived too late to join in the toast, but not too late to thoroughly enjoy their company, even if he was hardly on last-name bases with them. He was wary of the Nightmother, not for any particularly personal reason other than a general mistrust for the Nightsisters and their witchy ways.

He marched himself into the group without a moment's hesitation, regarding all his fellow Lords with a polite and respectful nod of his head, as he quickly found something to put his back to that was presumably inanimate and would not become offended by it.

"My most warm greetings, Lord Commander, Nightmother and my fellow Lord Marshal."

His voice was... hearty and warm, if a tad gruff. Social occasions in trusted company were one of the few rare occasions he permitted himself to not carry a physical weapon with himself. After all... was his body not, in of itself, a weapon? He was thirty times stronger than the average man, without taking into account his usage of the Force.

Hell, this was his chance to relax. Live and let live, as they said in the most questionable of places on Nar Shaddaa and the Galaxy at large.

Outfit: Casual Attire

Miyako stared at Aadya as the other woman seemed to wrestle with a thought aloud before succumbing to the temptation. Of course few had probably ever seen her kind before. They didn't flood the galaxy like so many other species. They enjoyed their solitude away from all the conflict. Best to stay completely out of the galaxy's line of sight. It wasn't a foolproof defense, but then it wasn't the only one they used either -- just the first to scream out the majority.

"Akitsu." Her lips parted in a toothy grin. "Fox girl." Miyako leaned in further until their noses were scarcely parted. "Foxy, if you like." Forward? Not really. Most tended to exhibit a strong degree of discomfort or fluster at being approached with the right string of accompanying words. Natural defense, really. Though, Miyako drew back with a smile on her lips not wanting to steer Aadya away like some the furry woman had to contend with out there on the streets.

"And you are welcoming. Though," Miyako's hips swung out wide as she twisted from one side to the other, "the galaxy has an unhealthy obsession with cloth." An abundance of clothing was not something her people were known for. Something to do with a healthy supply of body fur. Not that they were completely unclothed, but all a young woman had to do was look around to room to see more fabric than flesh, scale, or fur.

Aadya only made the Fox's point when she mentioned running around naked was a 'stupid thing' to do. Then again, she didn't understand the anatomy or cultures of others. Perhaps there was a reason for it. Miyako only hoped she wouldn't need to wear anything that cut off her circulation. Akitsu were nimble and quick, which they couldn't be if their attire barely allowed them to move.

A lowered brow, a tilt of the head, and Miyako dropped the question, "What's wrong with jumping off buildings?" They didn't look that tall on Naboo. Surely they weren't afraid to leap from one to the other... were they? Perhaps Miyako had a great deal left to learn about other species after all.

Everything this Aadya said sounded fun, actually. From her smile and glint in her eye -- and Dee's quick 'objection' -- Miyako figured she was a trouble maker. Just the kind of person a Fox could come to love. Though they did disagree on something, however. "I like yours. I could bound up the side of a building far easier with that slit," she replied as one digit pointed at the left side of Aadya's dress.

Dee's comment briefly drew the dark furred woman's blue eyes, however. "Blow it?" Some strange slang, but Miyako could guess at the context. "You could totally blame it on me, Dee. We Akitsu are mischievous." A slow wink soon followed. Not that it seemed likely Dee would be kicked out any time soon. Then again, Miyako couldn't say she knew where the 'fine lines' were among so many strange people.

Miyako would then have asked why Aadya's dress wasn't comfortable, but was distracted by the compliment paid to her tail. A subtle twist of the hips and the bush swept into full view. "Thank you. A girl has to take care of her tail." One hand lightly swept back along its length. Probably not something her present company understood, but a mangy tail was just the worst.

Soon another voice caused a triangular ear to twitch and rotate atop the Akitsu's head. A comment about trouble with Kurenai's wardrobe left Miyako wondering how that would work. Her outfit seemed a touch constraining, but it was also straightforward much as her own.

It only took Krystal four days of hesitating to make up her mind to join the rest of the Knights in their soon to be new headquarters in Naboo. Well, maybe five. Definitely five.

She was still hesitating right up to the moment she pulled her long silvery gown on over her combat boots. Of course, therein lied the advantage of such dresses, as concealed in the side of her well loved (and worn) leather boots lay two Czerka knives, as well as several other items that could be useful. Just in case.

At last, it was the words written on the inside of her wrist that convinced her to follow through with her arrival: This is the worthwhile fight. She wasn't going to give up on her colleagues, and she was not going to leave them again. She just hoped that they'd allow her back.

As she wandered into her gorgeous surroundings, she was surprised to notice that she did not recognize any one of the Knights that surrounded her. Well, other than Lord Commander Voph of course, but he wasn't going anywhere. Even death couldn't separate him from his beloved Knights Obsidian. It was certainly a pleasant surprise as she reflected upon the evident success of recent recruitment measures, but the immediate problem was more evident:

She had no one to talk to.

Ah well. Laughing softly to herself at the absurdity of the title "Lord Commander" (which she did every time she thought of it), she went to seek out a server droid that was hopefully serving something fresh and bubbly.

Voph raised his now half-empty glass in greeting as both Kurenai and Taramaz approached, along with an inclination of the head. Always a pleasure to see members of his extended family. He turned his attention back to Vytal as she queried the likelyhood of other Knights Obsidian outposts on Naboo. Voph shook his head slightly. The schools were welcome to establish their own place on Naboo, but he wasn't entirely sure it would be necessary.
"The Master's Retreat was all I had intended for the Knights Obsidian to have on Naboo. Certainly nothing stopping you from establishing a Coven, but between the strongholds on Ryloth, Monastery, Apatros, and Vylmira, as well as the Citadel, the schools all have more than their share of space from which to operate. Much of the population here would be the Obsidian Council, and those students that learn directly from them. But, you will find that I tried to offer a small slice of home to each of the schools, no matter who may find themselves in residence here."
Voph gestured to Taramaz as he continued, looking at him as his words were for the group, but meant specifically for him. "The three professions are much the same, I think. The logistics of the Citadel make it a highly preferable place from which to guide the Militant. The Viziers, however, might benefit from basing themselves here at the Rest. But, time shall tell."

"I do not disagree," the Nightmother replied calmly. "The Solanaceae operate a number of small educational facilities for the citizenry, however. A number of Witches and Defense Force personnel can be found there. Should the other Chapters require a remote base of operation or training facility, I am certain we can accommodate them." It was unlikely the Witches could convince the rest of the galaxy to spend the credits to learn about 'voodoo;' so if the people would not come to them, they would go to the people. This educational outreach would likely take generations before they made significant progress in addressing the spiritual ignorance of the Confederacy or the galaxy.

Green eyes shifted to regard Taramaz as he drew near and offered greetings. "Lord Arcturus, it is a pleasure to see you again." Strangely enough, the various Lords rarely seemed to assemble outside of Council Meetings. No doubt something Vytal should try to change for herself if not the Council as a whole.

"The Viziers may find themselves often enough," Vytal agreed with her attention turned back to Voph, "but they will be as often away on other worlds. Those that offer guidance should be on hand should the Viceroyalty require them, and to be hours or days away would only undermine that effort." Not that the Nightmother was going to recommend most Witches be a politician's servants advisor of convenient or as a trophy. Perhaps each woman or man required a 'job' among the Knights, but that did not require them to all haunt the steps of the two faced. She'd allow the researchers to remain free of the entanglements whenever she could. Then again, some could use the exposure to witness the trials of the galaxy, and if they were lucky to help steer the people from spiritual catastrophe.

Late was usually not a word associated with Taiia, in truth she usually would arrive early to anything so her late arrival would perhaps be noticed but all things considered, she had arrived and was dressed more appropriately for meeting with her peers than to simply be wearing her day to day robes. Since coming to Naboo she had begun to branch out her wardrobe quite a bit, in an effort to more seamlessly blend into the style and culture of Naboo. For the evening she wore a simple long dress and her hair down and neatly brushed, her green eyes would quickly scan the area as she entered and quietly took stock of those assembled.
Of course, she would recognize a great many of the faces present from the Lord Commander himself and of course the Nightmother, there were a few new faces as well though, some she was certain that she did not know, and one of them also seemed to be a latecomer to the gathering as well,
A smile formed on Taiia's lips as she walked past a serving droid deftly scooping up a pair of glasses before she began making her way over to Krystal Krystal and once at her side she simply held out a glass to the new acquaintance. "Here, for those late to the party." she made a simple salute with the glass before taking a sip and offering a warm smile followed by a hand. "Taiia Mataan, and you are? I am afraid I don't recognize you."
