The piece of debris taken care of, she attacked Marrow with her blade, holding nothing back. He evaded her strikes, but she didn't stop her assault, determined to stop him. The Force flexed, and she tensed in anticipation - but it turned out to be a feint, leaving her unprepared for the spew of acid which struck her raised arm.

She cried out in pain as it corroded the softer parts of her armor, burning her flesh down to the bone. The stench was overpowering. Her lips pulled back in a grimace, her metallic fangs gleaming in the pink glow of her lightsaber.

The fabric of the Force snagged as she shoved Marrow, blasting him backwards with telekinesis.

Well, things could have gone better.

Hindsight was 20/20, though, and BB-610 currently had little room to evaluate his decisions as fifteen blasters were aimed at him. There were no places for him to run, no possible means for him to fight his way out of this. There was a sense of dread, fear sinking in as his droidbraine sifted past morbid thoughts in a desperate attempt to come to terms with his approaching demise. The least he could do would be to spend his last moments thinking of what everything was for: his friends, his family, his galaxy. Maybe his efforts had allowed the ground team to speed past the flagship's trajectory, or maybe they were all for nothing as the Maw would simply resume control after his circuits were blown. BB-610 hadn't the luxury to dwell on it, so there he stood, trembling, as he thought of the beautiful meteor showers he, Valery, and Vera had watched days before the flight to Exegol.

To his surprise, that demise never came. In a matter of seconds, a dozen blurs sped through the air, seizing a number of the guards as they fell to the floor with the wind knocked from their lungs. Taken by surprise, the men drew their focus away from the astromech, taking aim at the newfound intruders from the remaining blast doors. BB-610 raised his head, courage gained and curiosity piqued, optic dilating in such a visceral wave of relief as he spotted Minerva Fhirdiad Minerva Fhirdiad enter alongside her troops, fighting off Mawite forces as they fell one by one. Bweeping ecstatically at such joyous imagery, chassis wobbling back and forth in uncontained giddiness from her compliment, staring up at the Mandalorian as she approached and promptly ended the sluggishly crawling commander at his feet.

"That means droid warrior."

BB-610 paused, marvelling at the nickname. He'd never earned a Mandalorian's respect before, as as she stood proudly before him, the astromech deemed it only necessary to respond by sliding his utility arm out from one of his disks and raising it to his head, performing his best possible salute, briefly casting a glance at Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el as the Jedi joined them. Not wasting any more time, however, the droid swiftly returned to his work, accessing the flagship's armaments once more as he primed their cannons with the turning and clicking of his scomp link, slowly raising them as they charged with a flurry of red energy, aimed directly at one of the surrounding Mawite warships. Charging their guns, the next few moments were nothing short of cathartic.

A powerful blast emanated from their cannons, burning through the air with a force felt thoroughly, promptly slamming into the gunship with a deafening burst of energy, ripping it to shreds as the vessel exploded into a cloud of fire, slowly faltering before diving into the ground and crashing fiercely along the surface of Exegol amidst the screeching of destroyed metal. Their victory was shortlived, however, as the remaining warships soon sought to destroy the Maw's flagship upon word of a hostile takeover, volleys upon volleys of blaster fire beating into its cannons faster than BB-610 could charge for subsequent strikes, and before long, the entire bridge shook as the cannons shut offline after a deadly eruption that blew its power.

“I don’t know if turning her on her fleet is really an option now…”

Bomb after bomb, the ship trembled, certain systems knocked dead, lights flickering and alarms blaring. While the good news was that the Maw had redirected their focus away from the Alliance forces on the ground, the bad news was that they were now the prime target for multiple coordinated attacks. BB-610 screamed as their roof was nearly carved by another chain of merciless assault, and as the astromech glanced around him, his central optic fixed itself on Jasper - their leader. Nodding, just about ready to go along with anything at this rate if it meant not being blown into pieces, BB-610 bweeped and whirred, asking the Jedi what he had in mind.

FINAL DAWN
EXEGOL, UNKNOWN REGIONS

SHADOW HAND COMMAND
TASK FORCE LUMIYA

As soon as Sularen finished his short conversation with Naivia Ri, Colonel Rackham caught wind of something on his datapad before notifying Sularen of this new development. "Sir, we have word from the surface. The Alliance have breached the gates of the Forbbiden District and have begun a major offensive." he said. "What about the evacuation." Sularen asked. "96 percent complete" Rackham responded. "Deploy our Gunships to provide Close-Air Support and mobilize all remaining Ground Forces against the attacking forces. We must delay their advance." the High Regent ordered. Already most of his assets had been evacuated from the Shipyards, so by the time the Alliance would arrive all they would find was a large empty shipyard stripped clean of anything of value for the Final Dawn. There would be no ships to destroy, no schematics to download and little infrastructure to target. The High Regent already had no reason to send his troops against the Galactic Alliance, but he thought the least he could do was give them a little challenge to slow them down.

With the matter of the ongoing situation on the surface dealt with, the High Regent decided to shift his focus on the ongoing Battle in orbit between the Naval Forces of the Final Dawn and it's Allies, and the Galactic Alliance and their Allies. "What's the current state of the Battle in orbit?" Sularen asked once more. Rackham scrolled through his datapad for a few seconds before offering a response. "Onrai's Fleet has arrived and has begun engaging both Alliance and Eternal Imperial Forces." he began. "...and the Nomadic People's Coalition Task Force led by Burtch is currently fighting an Alliance Naval Battlegroup. However we are receiving reports of a large space station that is keeping their distance far from the ongoing fighting." Rackham added. "A Space Station you say?" Sularen inquired. "Yes sir. It seems to be escorted by an Alliance Fleet whose exact size has yet to be determined." The Colonel responded.

Before making any decision in regards to that theatre, Sularen sought to know more about the Battle in orbit, more specifically the status of the other Mawite Forces in orbit that weren't directly aligned with the Final Dawn. "Is there anything else about the Battle in orbit that you can tell me, Colonel?" Sularen asked. "Yes, actually. We also have word that Romund Sro's Flagship has been boarded and successfully captured by an Alliance Strike Force. He already sent a message earlier in the battle, requesting that his ship be scuttled in the case that the Alliance successfully seized the Warship." Rackham responded "Very well then." Sularen said. "Contact Burtch and tell him, that he is to destroy Romund's Star Destroyer. I also want a few of our Annihilators already in the field also diverted for the scuttling." Sularen ordered. "As for Onrai, tell her that once she had dealt with the Eternal Imperials that it would be best if she moved in to engage the Alliance Fleet defending that Space Station. Something tells me that Station is the key to their whole operation here." the High Regent said.

Hopefully his allies in orbit would be sufficient enough to keep the Alliance at bay for as long as possible. The longer the Alliance Fleet was held up in orbit, the higher Sularen's chances of success would be. Just like how the Alliance Space Station above Exegol was the key to their plans, keeping the Alliance Fleet held up in orbit was the key to the High Regent's own plan.

Meanwhile inside the Final Dawn's Shipyards within the Forbbiden District, Lieutenant Mithak was overseeing the final stages of the Final Dawn's evacuation efforts Knowing that the Mawites and other Rival factions would keep the Alliance distracted long enough to ensure a successful evacuation, most of the Final Dawn Force tasked in guarding the perimeter of the shipyard was consisted of Infantry supported only by Light Armored Vehicles. From his forward command center, the Lieutenant watched as yet another wave of Final Dawn Transports departed the Shipyards carrying more Shipyard Personnel headed for one of the Planetary Assault Ships within the High Regent's Fleet in the skies above the District.

"Sir, we just received word from the Prophet. A large Alliance Force is headed this way." an officer said. Mithak looked back behind him looking at the rows of Transports that were still in the process of being boarded by Shipyard Personnel. "We also have direct orders from the High Regent" the officer added. "We are to mobilize our forces in anticipation of the enemy offensive and we should expect additional gunships to arrive to provide close air support against attacking forces." the officer finished. "Very well then, move the bulk of our forces towards the nearby Plaza. Let's hope it will be enough.to hold them off for the time being" the Lieutenant replied.

Soon enough, these new orders were being relayed to the rest of Mithak's Force as Final Dawn Soldiers rushed towards a nearby plaza outside the Shipyards followed by a few Infantry Support Vehicles. At the same time, the first squadrons of Gunships carrying additional Soldiers emerged from the hangars of the Prophet headed towards the Shipyards as the Final Dawn prepared to face the incoming onslaught. Hopefully the combined firepower of the Soldiers, the ISVs and the Gunships would be enough to hold off the attacking force long enough for the remaining transports to depart. Then they could be safely evacuated in turn before the Final Dawn could reduce the whole place to rubble via orbital bombardment hopefully inflicting heavy losses upon their foes in the process.

UI4ODIx.png

At the same time in orbit of Exegol, Burtch would receive a message from the Prophet, a request for the destruction of Romund Sro's flagship, a refitted Imperial-Class Star Destroyer as it had recently fallen into the hands of an Alliance Strike Team and was now a liability as it could be utilized against the rest of the Mawite Fleet in orbit. The message also advised the Grand Shepherd to prepare for a major offensive from Alliance Naval Forces as it was expected that the loss of Romund's Flagship might disrupt the Mawite Chain of Command and give the Alliance a brief opportunity to strike before the Final Dawn and it's Allies could take over the situation and reconsolidate the lines of defense.

Shortly afterwards, a few select squadrons of TIE Annihilators received similar messages from the Prophet, this time a direct order from the High Regent to begin the process of scuttling Romund Sro's Flagship as it had fallen into enemy hands and could be used against the Final Dawn and Allied Force in orbit. Soon enough two dozen TIE Annihilators would move in to carry out the first bombing run upon the captured Star Destroyer first unleashing Ion Torpedoes and Mag-Pulse Warheads upon the Warship with the aim of disabling it first as to deprive the enemy the ability to make use of the Star Destroyer's weaponry or attempt any sort of ramming maneuver as well as to make it easier for Burtch to finish it off once his ships were in position.

If everything went as planned, the captured ISD would no longer be of any concern to the Final Dawn or it's Allies and perhaps if they were lucky enough, they would manage to take out the entire Strike Team still within the Star Destroyer. Two Birds with One Stone.

Cordé had never liked the confinement of dropships, or shuttles, or anything less than a frigate because of how easy it was to touch one wall and then the next. It was like hurtling through an unbreathable, ice-cold vacuum in a ready-made coffin.

The ship’s automated response to this amount of damage was to make the passengers inside limp and soft — less resistant to the freefall. Sentients had a nasty habit of trying to protect themselves, and often going stiff and trying to react worsened the blow. The ship’s manufacturers knew this.

Over the general comm, Cordé heard the countdown, 30..29...28..and checked the belt that crossed her torso. Then she checked Sheb’s next to her, arguing with him for less than thirty seconds, that he needed to put his on too. ...14...13...12....Because she said so. Because she was the medic. ....3....2...At the twenty-ninth second, he relented and obeyed, just as the tech of their transport took over.

..1

What felt like a dozen needles stuck into their backs through the fabric of their suits. Cordé felt her heart shudder and chemical bands of iron grip her brain. Her spine went dead cold, and her face flushed. Reflexively, she gripped Sheb’s hand to keep him from flailing about and to keep herself from spiralling into blind panic.

“V, grab his other hand!” Cordé, Sheb, and Verin on one side of the shuttle; On the other side, L’iit, Jyon and Kiyen.

Furtively, she glanced about the dimly lit containment, taking inventory of the faces. Everyone looked like they were having a not-good time. Her vision was starting to relax and tighten all at the same time. Short, clipped breaths pulsed through her lungs, throat and face. She chose to look straight ahead to reduce strain, and kept her eyes on their assigned demolitions expert, L’iit.

Loud and crunching, the piece of unholy earth that spiked through their ship’s side and killed L’iit tore through the entire opposite side from Cordé. One moment, the explosionist was there; the next, his head was gone from the Anakin’s apple up. Arterial blood pumped out in a red cloud, pulled into two thin lines, and whirled to the savage and gruesome line that cored through the side. Two others tried to unstrap themselves, and avoid the same fate, but — Cordé heard herself scream as the world around her narrowed, her peripheral vision all stars and darkness.

*

For a few moments, Cordé didn’t open her eyes. The darkness behind her lids was bright and active and mildly nauseating.

The second wave of pharmaceuticals exploded in her bloodstream. She was hot and limp, her veins filled with syrup. Her hands were shaking. The hand she’d gripped tightly once was limp in hers. She was nauseated. Her body felt like she was operating her flesh from a distance, and she didn’t know how much of it was the drugs

Deep, warning, crimson red, the ship’s lights flickered on and off. Their containment was filled with a high-pitched whistle, and a klaxon was sounding. She could barely hear it, the pressure of the drop felt like it had blown her ear drums, that or her heartbeat was pounding too loudly.

The shuttle was on its side, Cordé’s side must have been against the ground because there were uncomfortable punctures in her back. There was a shooting pain from her spleen when she moved.

When she opened her eyes, headless L’iit’s limbs were dangling stupidly from his seat. The spaces next to him were empty, the seats ripped out through the tear in the hull. Jyon and Kiyen were nowhere to be seen.

“Sheb, V!” She fought with her restraints, planting her feet against the edge of her chair and struggling to shed her belt and sit up. There was blood on her hands when she tried to unstrap, and she couldn’t tell, or care, if it was hers or L’iit’s.

The Master of Ren’s blade would swing ferociously in both hands against the Sword of the Jedi. She was faster, more agile than he was against his strength. His blade kept striking against her own violet blade that met with a crackle of energy, and all around them the air reeked of death and the ionized air from the clashing of sabers as Valery had taken most of the attention of Kyrel. Kyrel fueled by nothing but rage for the Jedi woman would kept trying to push her back with all of his might. He didn’t dare give her an inch of ground with his wide sweeping swings of his blade in an effort to cut her down.

When his fiery blade had tasted blood in the form of her cheek he kept up his attack. Each time she had taken a step back, or each time she would parry his blade she would just be beaten back. He gritted his teeth as black ooze would slowly drip from the corners of his mouth, yellow eyes had bored into her own as if she was truly facing down the devil in front of her. Still he was so lost in his rage, and his focus towards Valery that he had neglected the Jedi Husband of her’s and still he didn’t care as long as he could cut her down.

When he entered into another blade lock with hers he would try to press her down. Hoping that his strength would get the better of her and push his crimson blade to strike her down in an instant. However, either due to Kyrel’s rage or shortsighted behavior he had pressed his blade down only to cause himself to go right through her. He growled before he quickly stumbled in a second to regain his footing. He knew the move she had pulled before on Tython, and from his duels with the Red Empress Ingrid. He wouldn’t dare fall for it a second time.

Just as he dared to turn around he heard Valery’s voice echo and before he could even react more runes glowed. This time the ice wouldn’t seek to trap him but this time shoot from all over the room. Spikes flew which would impale deep into Kyrel, and what came out of him was a screech that was anything but human. He felt his body slowly drip with the black ooze that made up his body, and slowly he looked around his grip on his saber tightened. “I-Is that all you got? I haven’t come here to die to you Jedi scum…” Kyrel would slowly say spatting out the black ooze from his mouth.

Running off of the pain mixed with rage he draw upon the dark power from within to help his damaged flesh. He started to grit his teeth from the spikes impaling his innards and slowly in a shroud of darkness he roared. “DIE!!!!” He cried out and the darkness from within would try to shoot the spikes out into blackened shards covered in his toxic ooze all over the room. While the corpse stood with saber in hand. Standing a shambling, angry mess of a monster.

Chakram's.

Nathan saw the first blade throw, approaching him at ultra high speed for his neck, the second flung at his knee.

He had a spit second to decide what to do, and they came at him with such speed that he knew one of them was going to hit him, so it was more a question of how to survive both attacks.

He shifted his position, spinning his staff rhythmically to block/deflect the chakram aiming for his knee, the upper blade only partly deflecting the one aimed at his neck.

It instead glanced partway to his shoulder before veering off, and he grew alarmed as he felt the slowly spreading agony of Blood Poison. Only Nathan's naturally higher than normal tolerance for pain, plus his use of the Force immediately to endure what natural tolerances couldn't kept him upright, kept him from dropping to his knees in sheer blinding pain. But he was still in a great amount of it, barely able to stay focused as he powered through the Blood Poison, getting in range of her for a spinning slash at both her legs.

He had no emotion towards the person he was trying to kill. He felt no sympathy, or pity, his conduct as impartial as her hatred.

For Nathan it was just a continuation of his career in the Plague, where a million different threats had tried to end him. Chakram's were not a common weapon he encountered but he had chit thrown at him before. Telekinetics loved throwing chit at people.

His slash was slower, executed with power, going upward as he went for the legs. She could still evade it if she was fast enough.

Within a split-second after phasing through the Master of Ren, Valery felt the rush of air as spikes of ice flew past her. None threatened to harm her, as their bond made sure the attack was coordinated, but each and every spike was aimed with the intent to destroy the Wrath's body. He was a monster of the dark; a wound in the Force that had consumed all that lived on an entire planet. To kill him would be no easy task, but by crippling his body, they would eventually find a way to purge his soul from existence as well.

"DIE!!!!"

Valery turned as she felt a combination of pain and rage echo through the Force. Several spikes had punctured his body, drawing a black liquid from his flesh that resembled his blood. Now, in his outburst of rage, he threatened to send them all back towards the couple, but Valery was prepared. With a raised hand, she projected a barrier of Force energy that blocked and disintegrated the spikes as they were launched back at the Jedi.

She wasn't going to allow him to turn their own attacks against them.

"Give up, Kyrel. You can't win this," she warned him, but deep down, she had a feeling that he already realized this himself. Much like the Maw during the battles on Empress Teta, he was merely wanting to lash out and cause as much damage as he could. He wanted to take her down with him, preferably Kahlil as well. She wasn't going to let him.

Valery then wiped away the blood from her cheek and with another burst of speed, she charged at him and launched herself up into the air. She flipped over the Master of Ren, landing behind him so that he'd be trapped between the two Nobles. Her blade came back up and hoping that her husband's attack had weakened him, she aimed several quick and powerful cuts at his body, all targeting limbs and joints in an attempt to cripple him.

But at the same time, she also had a feeling that he'd have his own tricks up his sleeve, and this assault allowed her to pay better attention to what he was planning.

Mercy was watching the space battle with baited breath.

It was beautiful to behold. The amount of destruction, the behemoths clashing against one another, the fleets swiftly moving to the command of invisible commands. It was very different from watching a duel. The ships an extension of something imperceptible. But it didn't take look before Mercy got bored anyway.

"It would be better if there was blood involved." Mercy muttered to Maijan as they sat in the cockpit of the dark ship. "Or crunching. I don't know, but the explosions kind of lose their edge like this, don't they?"

Maybe it was just Mercy.

She always needed something more visceral.

Finally the Sith shrugged.

"Anyway, you sure you will be able to hold the cloak for long enough to get us through the initial lines?" Mercy still had some tangible connections inside the Maw. Some. Most of them were either dead or fleeing their way out of a nasty situations. She had never been so close with the pure zealots currently dying on Exegol.

Those were too cooky even for her.

"They told me the station would have little in the way of stiff resistance. Most of it is around the Citadel planet-side. If we do this quick... we can steal it from under them before they even realize we are there."

A snort there.

"Don't start on me, Corporal, or I will have to file a complaint with HR." If that department even existed. It was a practical joke at this point that they had no idea where ass started and head ended in the Imperial bureaucracy. Some of the stormtrooper corps were still being paid and send out on missions, others were being disbanded. It was a gorram kriffing mess. In truth it wasn't so funny to Castian. He had been having a bad feeling for a while now, but couldn't quite put his thumb on it.

It was concerning.

But Vero put on a brave face. Not for himself, for his soldiers, who were depending on him to get through it okay.

"I am trying my best to forget Tovarksi and Lorrd, thank ya very much." Vero drawled as he strapped himself in tighter as the shuttle broke through the atmosphere. It was a mess here too. Lightning strikes and wind buffets causing the ship to shudder in response.

Luckily Castian was used to a bumpy ride after all this time.

"But even though ya saved my arse on both of those planets... don't forget who got ya those commendations, hm?" He'd have winked if it wasn't for the visor. Instead Vero playfully bumped Vilu's armored shoulder next to him. Right as the ship landed. The pilot shouted at them through the intercom to get out and get going.

Well, why not?

"Two cigarettes then, but if ya tell him, I am throwing you off the cliff."

Everything hurt.

On fire.

Her fibers screaming as tension rose through her body. She could still feel the blood on her skin. Hers? Sheb's? Verin wasn't sure. Everything hurt too much to be sure. She tried to turn and wondered who was yelling so loud. Until Verin realized it was coming out of her mouth. Her bloody maw, blood trickling down the corner and threatening to choke her in it.

Feth.

It was bad.

Verin knew it was bad, because she hadn't ever felt like this. The pain threatened to consume her and she knew the jig was up. If she wanted to live (and oh, Verin desperately wanted to live, more than anything in the world) she had to break her own vow. The one she swore when both her parents disappeared and abandoned her at once.

Never to use the Force anymore.

The last remaining connection to both of them.

She was crying, or maybe it was more blood, now seeping from her eyes. "C... C-Cordé..." She whispered, finally managing to get past mangled lips and harsh teeth.

"Get me..." It took all her effort to force the words out. "...the kriffing... syringe..."

And then her wrist rolled up, facing Cordé, and for the first time? She'd notice something strange about her skin there. It was tighter. As if something was trying to poke through. "Yar... gonna have to... cut." It was the only way to keep it safe. Keep it close. Keep it secret above all. She would most likely earn Sabo's ire for the rest of time, but Verin was beyond caring.

Life tasted too sweet and right now all she felt was blood.

  • Kralmus shatters the rock with his directed energy axes, which uses up their power
  • He uses a portable plasma shield to block the CryoBan projector, which he anticipated after last time
  • He unleashes a massive swing of his two-handed axe at Silhana

ChVAW7n_d.webp

Whoosh. Kralmus's axes met empty air as Silhana danced backward, putting a large rock between her and the cannibal. If the miss bothered him, he didn't show it. Instead he loudly yawned, as if bored by what the other Mandalorian was saying. "Yes, yes, very impressive titles, and all that," he said, rolling his bright yellow eyes. He stalked around the rock, trying to close the distance, but she kept darting backward, keeping the obstacle between them. "It must be a very flexible moral code, if shooting a man in the head without warning doesn't break it. Our people used to openly challenge each other to duels, you know. In our glory days, we rightly called assassins cowards."

Realizing he was getting nowhere by chasing Silhana in circles, Kralmus thumbed the controls on his axes, briefly overcharging them to unleash a more powerful strike. "And sure, you 'only kill when you have to'... If you say so, Pinkie. But did you have to follow me all the way here, to the edge of the galaxy? Who went hunting for whom, eh? Face it - you wanted to settle the score just as badly as I did. Call it justice or whatever if you want, but you like the idea of killing me." He raised both axes at once, high over his head, and grinned. His teeth, filled down to needle-sharp points that could tear through flesh with ease, gleamed in the flickering light of the cooking pit.

"Ring around the..." he began, his voice singsong. Then he brought both axes down on the rock. "... whoopsie!"

The overcharged axes flashed, and the rock exploded into a thousand flying fragments. Chips of stone pelted Kralmus's armor, and one even drew a long, bloody line across his left cheekbone. The cannibal dropped his two weapons, their power packs spend by the strike. Then he kicked the two halves of the stone apart and casually stepped through the gap... just as Silhana unleashed her CryoBan projector on him. But the cannibal didn't even flinch. Instead he triggered a switch on his bracer, and a portable plasma shield sprung up, intercepting the supercooling spray. "Ah, ah, ah!" he chided, waggling a finger back and forth. "You tried that last time, and I learned."

After the projector had immobilized him when she'd last unleashed it, trapping him in ice, he'd taken precautions.

Reaching up, Kralmus unslung the huge two-handed axe strapped across his back - his preferred weapon anyway. Or weapons, really, since it was three in one. There was a powerful shock hammer on the back of the axe blade, and the bottom of the haft was a pointed spike for punching through armor. Laughing madly, the unhinged Mandalorian unleashed a powerful horizontal sweep of the axe blade, trying to cleave Silhana in half. He was back to giddy with excitement now, his former depression forgotten. Strings of drool ran from his cracked lips, dripping onto his armor, as he envisioned tasting the meat of his foe. Maybe there could be such a thing as a good ending after all!

Caedyn Arenais

"Strike Team Windu, secure the gate and stand your ground. Strike Teams Tano and Rex, be advised hostile reinforcements are massing for a counterattack. May the Force be with you."

Zark's voice sounded over the Comm's, thinned out by the waging battle yet distinguishable all the same as Caedyn Arenais fought amidst the swarm of Zealots all seeking to defend the nearby gate and entrance to the Forbidden District. Strike Team Windu stood between a wave of Sith Acolytes and Strike Team Rex's admittance to the Sith Fortress beyond, the latter team's primary objective.

The Force pooled to the summons of the Knight as he moved to parry a low sweeping strike from another melee combatant, the light fueling Caedyn's mind and body, reflexes swift as precognition led the way for him to read his opponents, his right hand bringing one of his lightsabers against the coming blow and striking it away with strength while his left crossed over top and in a flash of cyan light and a heated thrum of his blades movement, taking the head clean off.

It was a ferocious strike, not commonly utilized by the Jedi who often considered himself a keeper of the peace, yet the tension of battle and the need to survive and achieve their objective was paramount; Too important to let the ethics of such a decision weigh heavy on him until after the battle if he were to walk away.

Caedyn barely had time to step away before two others approached, both with lightsabers ignited and bearing down on him. The flurry of red and brush of hot energy came down against his armor from the rear, burning away through the ceremonial garments of his armor and meeting the phrik plating. His breath was caught from him, letting out a shout of surprise and desperation as Caedyn launched himself forward in a propelled dash, his body twisting midair to turn back and face them before his boots hit the ground and his heels dug in to slow his momentum.

Still feeling the searing heat against his back, his armor a glowing red where their blades had struck him, Caedyn pieced together both of his hilts, the pommels meeting center, and twisted them to interlock so that he could wield the staff in a single hand. His left hand released the lower section of the hilt and extended towards the pair, the power of the force rushing through from his center, expelling a kinetic wall of energy against them. The two were unprepared in their continued assault, and the telekinetic barrier struck them directly, throwing both from their feet with a violent impact.

Thus far, Strike Team Windu was holding the gate, though they were unlikely to be availed of their opposition as the Sith Forces sought to repel their attack against Exagol. Within the chaos, Caedyn couldn't make out the visibility of his teammates. There was barely time to catch his breath between those who would move to engage him. Blaster fire ricocheted all around, stray bolts snapping nearby, not intended for him but dangerously close all the same as the Jedi Knight moved towards the gates.

They could not allow themselves to be overrun until @Strike Team Rex were clear and well on their way toward the assault on the Sith Fortress.

Verin responded before Sheb did.

Stumbling over Sheb’s legs, and the debris in the ship’s broken cast, Cordé limped her way to Verin. Everything ached, and in the dark and red lights, it was impossible to see anything but horror. Her hands were slick, and when she wiped her palms on her sides, it didn’t help much. Just moved the moisture around and emphasise the bruising on, in?, her ribs.

The pounding in her head was overwhelming, and the molasses-like thickness that moved through her body felt as though every move she made was languid. It was only her training that helped her focus, and manage to hear Verin’s quiet plea through her choked up gurgling.

Next to Verin, Cordé kneeled in the tiny space between her and Sheb’s crash seats. Sheb was still unresponsive, and Cordé couldn’t tell if he was just unconscious or dead yet. He was covered in liquid and ash, and in the red light of their compartment, it made everything look like blood.

Verin looked terrible.

“Stay with me Ver, you’re going to be okay.” She tasted metal when she spoke. This was probably the worst part of her job, making promises she could only hope to keep. Cordé reckoned she hoped harder than anyone on a daily basis. Her medpack was on her. It was always on her. Ripped, contents damaged, but ready.

Her brows knit in concentration, fingers moving deftly through the pack on the hunt for the strongest stims and bacta patches she could find “You need a patch more than a —”

She saw Verin flex her wrist. Lifting it looked like took enough energy to drain all of her fellow agent’s life force.

“—a syringe….” the inconclusiveness of her rebuttal died on the edge of her tongue. Fuzzy and unfocused, Cordé’s brain was slow to process that Verin didn’t mean any syringe from her arsenal.

“Wh—” another unfinished exchange, and she stroked her thumbs over the raised texture where veins should have been. It was shaped like a tool beneath Verin’s flesh. The instruction to cut added additional clarity and Cordé felt the pounding between her ears start up again.

She squeezed her eyes shut, shook her head, and looked to Verin through the darkness. She could search for truth all she wanted, but with each second that passed, the intensity that was Verin was slowly fading. Even in the near-dark shuttle Cordé could see that.

Determined to fulfil her duty, Cordé set her jaw and pulled out a scalpel rather than a bandage. It felt wrong, so wrong, to press the edge to V’s tanned skin and drag it along in a clean line. Blood spilled out, warm and sticky on her fingers, but she didn’t stop until the length of the object inside was fully revealed.

The syringe Verin had asked for was concealed in her arm.

Normally, Cordé was pretty clear on where the needle went, but given this one had lived for an undetermined amount of time within Verin’s person, she was a little more cautious.

“Tell me where to go.”

She was never going to get far with brute force alone against someone of his calibre. Even without his already evident physical superiority, he had the Force to enhance himself meaning other means of attack were warranted, so long as she could provide enough of a distraction for an opportunity to present itself.

"I don't make the orders." She replied, deflecting responsibility from herself onto unknown superiors - It was less morally taxing this way. "You don't just get a free pass because we have a common enemy." She told him as she pushed against his saber in an attempt to break through his defence.

Even her companion had displayed hesitance at engaging with the Jedi, acknowledging its possible futility, but Katja was not observing the situation with nuance. The Jedi were enemies, and though dangerous to a lesser degree than those whose planet they infiltrated, they were untrustworthy - a threat nonetheless.

The other trooper moved quickly to find a prime position to carefully shoot towards the assailant without hitting his own ally. They had support mere minutes away but as it stood, the situation seemed to be under control. The Imperials, of a formerly great Empire, would stop at nothing to reclaim their glory.

Sturit's hearing was, like any tanker's, not fantastic. Good as his helmet was, he'd certainly lost something over the years.

If he hadn't, he might've heard it sooner.

The silence crept closer and closer even as the distant sounds of fighting intensified. Yet there was a hum in the air; a low, purring breath. With each inhale, a deafening silence, each exhale, the rumbling of the earth. Sturit felt very small, and for a time did not dare move, even wrapped in the durasteel blanket of his Cataphract.

Eventually, though, something broke through. He went back up to the hatch and tentatively peeked out -- only to see gang of Maw cultists chasing a kid waving a laser sword.

<"What the hell...">

The kid yelled something about a wounded Imperial and arriving in peace. The cultists spotted Sturit's bucket peeking from the turret, and immediately started shooting at him. He spun the hatch around so it'd provide a bit of cover while he yelled at the Jedi.

<"KID. You know the Force, all that? If you move the rubble and debris off my tank, we can get the hell out of here."> Not only was the Jedi a teen from the Alliance, he'd also lead the Maw right to him. This was gonna be awful.

Sturit ducked down for a moment, checked on the returning power of his tank, then popped back up again, raised his rifle, and started firing at the closest Maw cultists.

Returning Bee's salute Minerva subsequently turned around to see the Jedi Jasper entering the command room. With the others busy with checking the bodies she listened to his observations and at the same time viewing the colossal battle. She smirked when Bee's efforts managed to down an enemy warship. Swifty the moment passed when the entire ship began to shake all over. Losing her foot she crashed on another console with a grunt.

"It's a safe bet to say they know we're here." Minerva remarked out loud knowing how much of an understatement it is.

At the Jedi's instructions she obliged, transmitting the withdrawal code to any strike team members still alive onboard. Just as she did Minerva noticed the way Jasper was looking out to one of the enemy destroyers. Inside the helm she blinked a few times.

Wait is he really thinking of-

"Let's go assist the evacuation squad! Double time!" Sergeant Sarid exclaimed.

Hearing the order Minerva spared the Knight and the droid one last look before giving them a farewell nod even as the ship kept shaking. With that she ran off with her remaining squad mates…

Later

Returning to the hangar they found falling apart as panels collapsed and pieces of the roof fell. Sparks ignited with the glow of burning wreckage. Gunships and transports that weren't already destroyed were flying off one by one. One gunship was struck by fallen debris, causing it to slam down and explode. All the while reminding Mawites attacked, trying to take as many of the invaders as possible before the ship finally goes down.

Firing both pistols as she swung around from left to right Minerva then saw the sergeant point to a transport a few yards away.

"Get onboard now!"

Carrying their three injured comrades with them they hurried toward it with the armored woman holstering her guns. Suddenly the warship shook, knocking many to the floor or nearly losing their footing like Minerva. Next to her Sarid heard something above and looked up. He shoved Minerva and another trooper out of the way but only to be crushed by fallen wreckage. Gasping, the Mandalorian sat up to see the debris just meters from her and underneath it blood newly splattered.

"Sarge no!"

The other trooper cried out and tried to reach out but Minerva sprang up and grabbed him over the shoulders.

"Let go! We have to save sarge!"

"We can't help him!" Minerva retorted but the trooper still struggled to break free.

Quickly she headbutt the soldier, dazing him. Lifting her ally's right arm over her shoulders and grabbing his opposite hip with her hand Minerva dragged them both along toward the ramp. Getting inside they climbed up into the cramped interior. Placing the trooper in a seat she slumped down in hers, exhausted. With that transport's ramp closed up and it lifted off the floor with small debris hitting it from above.

Engines roaring the small vessel sped out of the hangar bay. Yet just as it did an explosion erupted next to it and the pilot accidentally pushed the hyperdrive lever and without warning flew into lightspeed, disappearing from the battle and to the unknown…

Nodding, just about ready to go along with anything at this rate if it meant not being blown into pieces, BB-610 bweeped and whirred, asking the Jedi what he had in mind.

"I wanna set this thing on a collision course for that nearby capital ship," Jasper told Bee, pointing at the vessel directly in the line of sight out of the bridge's viewport. "I figure we can set it up on autopilot and make a break for the hangar. I saw a few x-ceptors in their hangar that looked pretty intact. This thing has already suffered considerable damage. We may as well take someone else down with it."

Jasper sighed, crouching down to the droid's level.

"It would be pretty dangerous," he admitted. "We'd have to be quick about getting off this thing... but I know what the alternative is if we don't make it back to the hangar."

He didn't want to force Bee to do anything. The little droid had been used and abused by the people around him probably longer than Jasper had even been alive. It wasn't a fate he wished to condemn him too. If the astromech chose to, Jasper was perfectly fine taking the ship to it's indented destination manually. That would mean that, for lack of a better description, he wouldn't be going home. It wasn't ideal, but he wasn't taking advantage of Bee. If the droid was going to help him, it was to be of his own free will.

"Well... how about it?" Jasper asked. "Can you help me send this thing to hell?"

"Keep firing."

A simple command kept the massive horde of warships unloading everything they could muster on the Ragnarok. Turbolasers, mass drivers, missiles, beam weapons - if there was a weapon that could be brought to bear against the dreadnought, it was being fired. Overwhelming projectile and energy weapons would seek to break the shield of the vessel even as Onrai's ethereal presence further observed the engagement. It was hardly surprising that the pendulum had swung back against the Maw so hard as it had - if they had wished to embrace the darkness, there were far more pernicious entities than the Avatars they could've chosen to align with.

Speaking of alignment, perhaps now was an opportunity to give the targets of her followers an opportunity to survive.

-

Upon the bridge of the Ragnarok, shadows seemed to coalesce into a feminine form some Eternals could potentially find as familiar. White eyes bored directly into the commander as the shade, the microcosmic fragment of the greater Onrai, spoke to the commander of the dreadnought.

"You are fighting valiantly, but this is a doomed crusade. My fleet will destroy this vessel as well as any others that threaten the holdings of my followers. That said, even as metal is rent, flesh and bone do not have to be torn. I offer you - all of you who still stand aboard this vessel - an opportunity to survive and continue to contribute to the galaxy at large. But that fate falls to you, captain. If you give the word, I will tear open the boundaries of reality on board your vessel. Your men and women will have the opportunity to travel through the rifts to a place where they will be safe from the destruction my fleet is bringing upon them. They will be able to live peacefully, to farm, to make, to enjoy a life without the stress of war and conflict.

Or, you can choose to damn them all to the same fate as this vessel. Please, for their sake, I ask you to make the right decision."

“Therre’s both. You just can’t tell from so farrr away.” Maijan sniffed. She didn’t share Mercy’s penchant for violence.

But she did share her greed.

Any further discussion about what was seen out in the atmosphere, the war of a nation she’d once been forced to serve, was not initiated by the Fallanassi practitioner.

Her focus was instead on the schematics of the incredible station the pair were looking to heist. The lines, the curves, the way it would shimmer and gleam — all the little details. As soon as she stepped on board, she’d have to get intimate enough with it, quickly, to cover them up from any watching eye.

“Mhm.” Maijan hummed, getting close to annoyed at Mercy questioning her abilities. Without her drugs, yes, she’d have difficulty. But with the superheated connection to The Force winding through her system, opening her up even to the telekinetic spectrum? She was a different beast. One that blinked not at the challenge ahead of them.

Tiny spaceships, big spaceships, eldritch horrors though, all stood in their way. They’d have to navigate space properly to the orbital defence station.

“Cloak and rrreplicate.” Maijan reminded the Sith. “Just in case therre arre expectations on the station rrremaining prresent, I’ll keep it looking as though it’s still therre long enough forr us to disappearrr.”

She smirked. “So long as you don’t talk to me orr distrrrakt me.”

Through the glasteel, through the mayhem, Maijan spotted the shape she'd been studying for days now. Her finger jabbed forward, and then dropped to the sensors that picked up the massive outline as well. "
Therre!"

This was such a different way to hunt, been when the prey thinks itself the hunter... Well, why not take advantage? As Dreidi steadily drew closer and closer to the corpse pile, the smell and pull of the dark grew stronger and stronger. This... Unnerving feeling of being watched wouldn't budge, in reality this area was already infested by Adeline's spawn. Little demonic bat-like sithspawn who watched the Jedi's every move, keeping watch like a stalking gargoyle. The hunter knew that the prey was alone, perhaps cocky?

As the Jedi called out who was there, a soft voice would respond just around the corner, echoing like a siren's call within the ears.

"Why are you alone?"

A simple enough question on the surface, but it was step one. The rest would start whenever the Jedi came out of their false hiding to see the strange occultist already looking in their direction, standing in the middle of a recent battle of dead that had scattered themselves around.

"Has anyone ever told you that you have magnificent looking eyes?"

The Sangnir smiles, showing off her fanged maw for just a moment. She knew this was no Jedi master or Knight... Mmm.. Perhaps today she could eat yet another Jedi? For now though her expression remained inhumanly calm, it was soon time to test them.
