Our story begins in a rather unassuming place, the gutter of civilization. Born to an abusive mother and unknown father, the girl Adeline once was only ever knew suffering. Like many in life she never got to see even the middling trinkets or mediocre meals, each day was a fight for survival. It remains lost as to what she was within these mortal years. Perhaps human? Some distant relative? The truth is that whatever form her body once took no longer exists, it was a meager little thing. Beaten, bruised, starved.
As a child she enjoyed getting whatever means of entertainment she could find, the easiest and most frequent was stories by those rambling at the local bar. Tales of places beyond the filth, places with towers that pierced the very heavens above. Her childish imagination ran wild, fantasizing about men and women she had learned about. Those of strange monks, wielding blades that seemed to cut down anything. They held abilities far above any common bounty hunter or Hutt thug, some said they could even trick your very mind.
Each day the girl sat within the dark, gazing up at the stars above. Each day her scratched and filthy little hands held firmly upon the edge of the pit she found herself in, down below was everything she was hopeful to escape from. Starvation, grime, hopelessness, melancholy. This small creature held within such a profound hope that each day that went by she would be saved by these monks who shined bright as a star. What if she could be saved? Escape this lack of life she was forced into? What if she could be a hero like in the stories?
Her mind was unable to understand that she held no innate boon of the force, and that no matter how much hope you hold within your heart, you never live within a shining fantasy.
The real fantasy was the one the child formed around herself, seeing herself as a one day hero. Day by day she found enjoyment in playing with sticks and junk she had found, the stick within her small hands was a mighty saber, and the adjusted scrap being the villain. No matter what happened she still found something, a stubborn hope that seemed to never shatter.
Her mother held vices, an addiction to trying to escape the life she was in... And of course to the spice she took each and every time she failed to achieve this goal. Gambling became common, all too common. Her mother racked up a debt that she couldn't pay with credits, within an instant she traded her own daughter to pay off this debt.
Life as a slave to a gang put an intense pressure on that hope she felt, and cracks began to form around the fantasy she held. Was she ever to really be a hero? What makes a hero anyway?
Strained fingers still tried to hold on, but it was so draining... So heavily draining.
As she grew older her mind got caught up in patterns, a routine to make sure beatings were avoided. She hadn't really thought about her childhood dreams in ages by this point, she never got to dream. Everything was simply a nightmare, but she held an alternate stubbornness now. The girl's fingers finally let go, falling into that abyssal pit she tried to avoid ever since she could think.
She wasn't a hero, this wasn't a fantasy story, and there was no shining knight to rescue her. This was life, a painful existence where most were surrounded by this same darkness. She was a survivor, a scavenger, a flake of dust within the strands of the galaxy.
We never expect death, it takes many forms, and arrives at unknown times.
Within the dead of night, she was killed within the swamp. A creature known as a "Sangnir" had attacked, and hours later she awoke in that same bog.
