Annihilation The Imperial March

Wrath-of-god-obj1.png

As the Death Star charges its main weapon and Solipsis's ritual begins, Imperial troops descend on Atrisia’s capital. Their goal is to root out the Commonwealth, the Lightsworn, and their allies before they can escape the dark fate intended for the planet, but also to spread fear and suffering. These powerful emotions, and the deaths of countless people, will fuel the ritual taking place within the Death Star - and ultimately lend power to the Force Storms that Solipsis plans to unleash against the Sith Order and Imperial Coalition.

  • Many drop pods are destroyed by Atrisian defenses.
  • Kasan's drop pod makes it through the Anshin, but is damaged on approach to Jar'Kai.
  • The drop pod crashes into an apartment building near the Spire.
  • Kasan's squad deploys.

--------------------------
Hot drop. It was a term that Kasan Osera had only heard mentioned in training - the brutal months of physical and mental conditioning she'd gone through after volunteering to join the Imperial Army. It meant a deployment from orbit while under fire. It meant standing in this crowded hangar bay, crammed shoulder to shoulder with the other troopers and their gear, and waiting - a long, interminable wait in which there was absolutely nothing she could do to swing the odds of her survival one way or another. That was the worst part of it; the situation was so completely and utterly out of her control.

The Shrike-class drop pod she'd climbed into could only barely be steered. She was stuck on a crash course.

It was a metaphor, perhaps, for what had happened to her life. When she'd left home at sixteen, escaping the parental screaming matches and thrown household items and wailing younger children that had characterized her childhood, Kasan had thought she was finally in control. She'd gotten a job, gotten her own place, gotten a boyfriend - all things that she got to choose. But it had all been more precarious than she'd realized, the fate she thought she'd seized slipping back through her fingers. When she got pregnant at nineteen, it'd seemed like she'd landed right back in the same situation her mom had, repeating those mistakes.

She'd tried so hard to take back control. When Tala was born, she'd moved out, ditched the insecure manchild boyfriend, and tried to go it alone. But she'd struggled on her own when it was just providing for herself, and when it came to providing for Tala, too, it'd been too much. They'd busted her stealing diapers. Fething diapers. And that had brought it all crashing down. She'd been sent for reeducation, her daughter sent off to an Imperial Kinder-Block. Volunteering for the military was the only way to get out of Subcitizen status, to earn enough Citizenship Score to have a chance at getting her daughter back.

Troopers on every one of the drop pods leaving the Sovereign's Pride probably had similar stories.

But none of those stories mattered to the guns firing up from the Great Wall.

"Listen up," Kasan barked over squad comms, needing to do something beyond just waiting to live or die. They'd supposedly seen potential in her during training, made her a squad leader. She hadn't cared what it entailed beyond a Citizenship Score boost... but now it was real, and she had other troopers to lead, other people with stories. But she couldn't let herself learn those stories, couldn't let herself get invested. So many of them were going to die here. Her only priority had to be her own survival, so she could get back to Tala. "Our target is the Spire, the central tower in the city. It's where the shield generators and skydock are housed."

The pod rattled and jerked as it shot like a bullet out of the Pride's hangar bay, zooming out into the darkness of space... or rather, the brightness of it. The flash of laserfire everywhere, an unending storm all around them, filled the void and drowned out the light of the stars. Immediately the landing craft bucked like a startled ronto, shots splashing against the shields or rocking them with near misses. A cluster of pods no more than 100 meters away erupted in a ball of fire so close to the hangar bay that pieces of their shattered hulls plinked against the Pride's underside, along with the drifting bodies of Imperial Army troopers.

Kasan looked away, squeezed her eyes shut behind her helmet, forced herself to breathe slowly.

"All locals are considered to be enemy combatants and treated as such." She had to keep talking, to keep rattling off the monstrous orders she'd been tasked to see through, because it was something for her to do beyond watching as pods were slagged all around her. "They sheltered the Emperor's enemies, and they're the operators of the defenses trying to hold back His retribution. If anyone gets in your way, shoot to kill." She had killed people before; her first had been at fifteen. He'd tried to mug her in an alley. She'd had a knife hidden in her sleeve, and she'd driven it into his chest until he stopped moving.

She tried to tell herself this wouldn't be different. She wasn't in control of her reasons for being here.

The people here would try to kill her, and she had to survive. For Tala. No matter what.

The pod zoomed downward at incredible speed, protected by little more than bistate gel and durasteel plates. They were passing through the damaged Anshin, the great two-layer shield gate that controlled access to Atrisia III... and the storm of fire around them intensified. The Anshin wasn't just a shield gate; it was a shipyard and a defense station as well, a stronghold for the Choushin Fleet. Through the viewport, Kasan watched as half-dozen pods were shredded by the guns of a Tachibana-class Orbital Platform. An instant later, an ion bomb from a bomblet generator sent another three spinning to their doom.

Hot drop, she thought, watching the carnage. They had to be closing in on 50% casualties.

And they hadn't even had the chance to shoot back yet.

"Eyes front," she barked, imagining her squad staring at the carnage. Hypocritical? Sure, but she didn't want her troopers to get as distracted and demoralized as she could already feel herself getting. Besides, this was her first command, and she needed to establish her authority quickly. She'd heard of officers getting fragged by troopers who didn't respect them; the guns of the enemy weren't the only ones she needed to worry about. The pod rattled even harder, so hard Kasan thought she'd been hit... but the scene outside changed to white clouds whipping past in a halo of orange. They'd hit atmosphere.

Somehow, they'd made it through the damaged Anshin. The will of the Emperor? Or just blind luck?

Kasan wasn't religious, but she had heard that more pious units had higher survival rates.

"Pray to the Emperor," she ordered, "and brace for landing." It turned out to be a well-timed command. At that moment, Lóngkou - the Great Wall of Atrisia - suddenly came into view. It was titanic, bristling with weapons, completely enclosing the city in a perimeter more than 21,000 kilometers long. It was said that it would take the average being more than two standard years to walk its entire length... and every gun along that length was pointed up towards the invaders. Ion cannons and auto-turrets opened up on the incoming pods, sending several more spinning down to explode across the Atrisian countryside.

A blue bolt streaked in from a different direction, toward the front of them... surely coming from the Spire. The colossal tower had defenses of its own, and they were opening up on the pod swarm too. Shots flew past her, perilously close, and getting closer. Was this it? She found herself mouthing the words to one of the prayers they'd drilled into her at basic. Almighty Emperor, shield us from Thy enemies, that we may survive to be Thy instrument in their destruction. A second later, blam. A blaster cannon shot clipped her pod, atomizing the port steering vane and annihilating her ability to maneuver.

So much for fething religion, Kasan thought. "Brace for impact!"

She didn't get the chance to see much of Jar'Kai from the air. Her pod had begun to lazily spin, and if she looked out now, she would throw up. Inside her helmet, which would probably be fatal. So she closed her eyes and just held on for dear life as the repulsorlift braking engine kicked in, rapidly arresting her momentum. Without intertial dampers, the rapid deceleration would have pasted her across the pod's ceiling, a little crimson smear of ex-person. But the dampers kicked in, and the braking engine didn't fail... so when she slammed through the roof of a noodle shop, the impact rattled her teeth but didn't break her bones.

Explosive bolts detonated, flinging the pod's doors off to allow her rapid exit. Kasan tore open the weapons locker beside her and retrieved her blaster and grenades, a motion that had been drilled into her in preparation for this operation. Then she took her first steps out onto Atrisia III. She'd landed in the shop's kitchen, smashing through expensive-looking cooking gadgets, scattering ingredients across the walls and floor. It seemed to be deserted; Atrisian early-warning systems had picked up the invaders as soon as they'd entered the system, giving people time to flee and shelter in their homes.

And no doubt giving the defenders time to dig in around the Spire, the Empire's primary target.

"Deploy!" Kasan shouted, her hand and shoulder aching from holding on for dear life.

"Deploy, deploy, deploy!" Hefting her blaster, she led the way.

BELLUM CONTRA OMNES

| Location | Jar'Kai, Atrisia
| Purpose | War
Shadows coalesced as tendrils of darkness high above the Spire that overlooked Jar'Kai, pulling and tearing open a rift in space and time. From the void stepped the grizzled figure of Darth Bellum, the shadow of war having finally cast itself upon Atrisia. The Empire had continued its campaign against the Alliance and in turn, continued to tithe unto the Lord of War, and for their tributes, he offered unto them his power and armies. Hollow eyes scanned the horizon, the Great Wall that surrounded Atrisia already abuzz with movement and activity, the Atrisians already aware of the Empire's imminent arrival as they scrambled to fortify their positions and brace for a siege. Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis had set his sights upon the city, despite its heavy fortifications, and the Lord of War had offered him a solution to get the Sith'aris troops on the ground to besiege.
His strength had only grown since the start of the Great Core Wars, further renewing and empowering him.
The Lord of War raised both arms above his head, fingers grasping at unseen doors as he began to slowly pull them away from on another. Outside the Great Wall that surrounded Jar'Kai amassed a large cloud of smoke and shadows, spanning far and wide as they rolled over the terrain. His fingers curled as with one motion, clenched them into fists and violently pulled them apart. Space and time screamed out as they were violently torn asunder, the mass of shadows splitting open like the maw of a ravenous beast, several smaller but large tears in space and time forming along the horizon. With the bridge now opened, the Galactic Empire now had its foothold for their armies to lay siege planetside. How they made use of it was now left to their commanders.
His arms lowered as he spoke out to an unseen void, his voice echoing to unseen soldiers that awaited their orders. His voice echoed in a morbid symphony of all the voices that had been offered unto him as tribute.
"Go, my soldiers... Take up my banner, shatter peace wherever you may find it. Leave no blade unclean, no body unscarred, no soul unsundered. Fight for the sunset you shall never see, and feed unto the flames of war that shall never fade."
Within Jar'Kai, several additional rifts from Otherspace formed, letting loose Bellum's hounds of war unto the city and its unsuspecting inhabitants, members of the 13th Umbral Legion answering his call as smaller detachments geared for strategic, surgical strikes were deployed near the Honeycomb, as well as eastern and southern inner walls that directly surrounded Jar'Kai. These rifts also laid a path for those who wished to directly infiltrate the city of Jar'Kai to wreak their havoc and sow chaos as drop pods fell from the sky. The Umbral Legion's objective was to soften defenses and clear a path for the main armies of the Empire to enter through once the Great Wall had fallen. The defenders would find themselves hard-pressed fighting against an enemy assaulting from multiple fronts.
As his troops descended upon the inner city, they all echoed and chanted...
" A̶l̴l̴ ̸H̷a̴n̷d̴s̶ ̶U̸n̴t̷o̴ ̴W̶a̶r̵ "

LABOUR FOR THE EMPEROR AND THE CELESTIAL COURT
Hot drop, contested landing, brace for impact. The word's floated around the logistician's head, pinning down her senses under her feet. A few minutes ago, she was in orbit, clasping onto her own belt for dear life while wondering how the surface would look. Now?

Now she couldn't tell which was up, or even her name. The explosions mercilessly bellowing over her head rudely reminded her however, that she was still alive, and that she had survived landing. She fixed the wide-brimmed hat of the Imperial Irregulars on her head, and stood up inside her flipped capsule. Her eyes, not adjusted to the dark inside OR the light outside, which she was about to expose herself to, kept her from noticing that the rest of her comrades inside the landing vessel had been pulverized under her heels.

A few moments before going for the door, she remembered what her role was, and she retreated to the back of her drop pod to pick up her things. Weapons? Yes, but not for her. A heavy pair of crates, ammunition and first aid. By the Emperor's decree, her first supply run was to begin before the landing forces had even established a beachhead.

"Find a convenient salient, and go!" her instructor had shouted to her corps, and that she would do, even it meant that she'd had to go. With a flick of a lever on the wall, the bulkhead depressurized, and the pain floating around her ear drums instantly got worse. Alas, there was no time to cover them, as both of her hands were busy clinging onto a few blood cells of the lifeblood of the invasion.

Jumping out of the pod, she ran through rubble and shredded oriental paper walls -her heart beating faster than she could account for-, looking for her brethren, which she was supposed to relieve.

OBJECTIVE: 1 "THE IMPERIAL MARCH"

Kasan Osera Kasan Osera

We rolled out of our bunks that morning before the invasion to the surprise we had all been waiting for. For a week we had been stationed aboard a star destroyer in orbit of the planet Epoch, waiting to learn what our orders would be. Even before we had arrived to the fleet from Balmorra, and Kuat before that, we knew something big was on the horizon. That morning, our datapads were loaded with our very first mission briefing. We all sat silently for a moment on the edge of our beds reading the scheme.

"Orbital drop pods?" one guy perked up, Private Chatton, "is that standard procedure?"

I looked up at him like he was stupid, "Do any of us look like we know what the hell standard procedure is?" I asked sarcastically and the rest of the room chuckled. We were all green, most of us conscripts. I returned to reading the plans. They really were going to send us down in drop pods, not shuttles.

"Right, well it says here that Atrisia has some of the best defenses in the galaxy, so I guess it makes sense to go in hard and fast right? We're the tip of the spear!" the young and eager Private Korran nearly jumped off his bunk in excitement. He'd been shaking with excitement when we found out we'd be mustering at Epoch, his homeworld. I didn't know much about the kid yet, other than every second breath that came out of his mouth had the word Emperor in it. He was the only person I'd heard refer to the Emperor by his real name.

I was a little confused about our means of entry, and I think the others were too, but our officers made a point, now that we knew what was going on, to reassure us. Atrisia may be a powerful planet, they would say, but it harbors the Jedi threat, a threat that must be dealt with quickly and without mercy. The thought of crossing paths with a Jedi was terrifying. I'd seen lightsabers on the holonet, and just what they could do. Luckily, taking out the Jedi compound was a task assigned to the Emperor's Chosen, who I was told had lightsabers of their own. Our mission was to hit the capital city of Atrisia, so that we could bend the planet to our will.

That night the mess hall served the best food I'd had since I joined the stormtroopers. Consolation, I suppose, given that we could all die the next day. But if we died, we died for the glory of the new Empire as Korran, and all our officers, liked to remind us.

The next morning was a rush. We ate nutrient cubes as quickly as we could, already in full uniform, ready for battle. Our jump from Epoch would be short, but the entire ship was alerted to the fact that we would be entering Atrisian space to reinforce the fleet, and that the battle would be underway. I could feel a knot deep in my stomach as the star destroyer lurched out of hyperspace, and the alarms immediately sounded through the ship.

"Battlestations! Take to your battlestations!" The officers cried out. We filed out into the hallways, mustering towards the bow of the ship. Explosions began to rock the ship, and we knew we were in the battle.

It was a single file line of stormtroopers stretching down into a small hallway when I reached the drop pods. I took my place in line. From the back, we were all trying to sneak peeks of the front of the line. Every few seconds there was a thunk and a woosh, and the line would move one person forward. As I moved further up the line, I could see the exit, the drop pods. At the end of the corridor was a single door, just large enough for a soldier to step through, with a black-clad and semi-armored officer of the Imperial Military Police on either side.

My nerves twisted up inside me as I watched the soldiers in front of me disappear one by one, and each step forward brought me closer to the battlefield. I can't believe we're really doing this. For our first battle... I thought, but the next launch of the pod, louder now that I approached, broke my train of thought. When it was my turn, I stepped forward to the door.

I hesitated.

The officers on either side of me grabbed me by the arms and shoved me into the pod. I couldn't even turn to face them before I heard the door slam shut, the magnetic clamp of my boots to the floor, and the hiss of the hermetic seal. I was rocked by the loudest sound I'd ever heard, then immediately gripped by several Gs of force.

It was completely dark, and at first, silent. Then the whooshing began, incredibly loud, and it became intensely hot. Just. Another. Minute. I could immediately feel myself begin to sweat heavily under my armor. Deep breath. The rushing noise of the pod falling through the atmosphere was then punctuated by the strafing runs exploding bombs, some falling closer and others further. A little longer. I could hear the battlefield all around me for merely a second until the motion of the capsule came to a complete, sudden, and violent end. The sound of the impact rung in my ears, an immense crunch of earth and stone. I should have been thrown around by the sudden transfer of force, were it not for the pod's inertia dampeners and the maglocks on my armor holding me in place. The breaking of the hermetic seal made a whining noise, and the ceiling of the pod above me split in two and folded out. The floor beneath me began to rise, popping me up and out into the smoke.

I was standing in the middle of a street, it looked like. I was in a daze, until I felt the maglock on my boots turn off, and saw before me the fireball, as I was thrown backwards by the force of explosion. I landed hard on the pavement and rolled. My blaster was gone from my hands.

My ears were ringing, drowning out the sound of the conflict. I lay there for a moment, wondering if I'd died the instant I set foot on the battlefield. But no, I could feel my heavy breathing, hear the air scrubbers on my helmet taking in the smoke as the ringing subsided. I was alive still, and an easy target if I stayed on the ground. As they had taught us in training, a Stormtrooper is always on the move, always on the offense.

I pushed myself up and got to my feet, straining. There was a pain in my side, and a rising acid of nausea in my stomach forced me to reach for my helmet immediately. As I ripped it off, the contents of my breakfast surged up through my esophagus and spewed on the concrete. I could hear bootsteps running around me. As the smoke cleared, and I held my head up again, I got a better view of the ruined block. Fire was everywhere, blocking further down the street, crawling up the side of a building a few down from me. I saw other stormtroopers crawling out of pods, embedded in the ground by the force of impact. I could hear other falling in the distance as the star destroyer continued its sweeping barrage, delivering the tip of the spear. A handful were climbing out of the wreckage of buildings, and I wondered if their pods had brought the structures down with the force of impact.

I put my helmet back on, and took a cautious few steps forward, the air still choked by ash and dust. I need to find my fething blaster, right now! My mind raced, my heart beat out of my chest. I scanned the ground as I stumbled forward back to where I thought I'd landed. I caught the edge of a pod through the smoke, only to find a sight that made me gag: two white boots, maglocked to the pod, no stormtrooper attached. He must not have unlocked before that bomb went off. I shuddered at the thought, then stepped around the pod and continued.

My boot kicked something metal as I dragged my feet in my daze, and it slid along the duracrete. I looked down to see a rifle. One of ours. A Bozdugan. Maybe mine, maybe someone else's. I snatched it up, flicked on the underbarrel flashlight, and began to move as fast as I could.
Through the smoky darkness I heard the crash of another pod, followed by a beeping from my commlink. The signal to group up, coming from the squad leader. I t was coming from nearby.

I charged as hard as could towards the ping, then I could see a blinking green light ahead. Squad leader's pod. It hadn't opened. It was lodged diagonally into the street, but the hatch was still exposed.

With a grunt I slammed my foot into it hard. "GAH! FETH!" I slammed it again, then again. On my third kick, the hatch began to fold outwards, but I never heard the whine of the hermetic seal breaking. I looked down into the pod, at the crumpled body of the squad leader, identified by his orange pauldron. My commlink continued to beep in time with the pulsing of the pod's little green light. I stood for a moment, looking down on him. I looked around and couldn't see anyone else from my squad coming to the beacon. Did they all die on arrival?

The sounds of blaster fire were getting closer, and I averted my eyes from the dead man. I hadn't even really known him, or any of my squad, that well. I've gotta move on, my impulses told me. I need to find some cover.

I turned from the pod and darted towards a block of buildings that hadn't yet been scourged by falling bombs or drop pods, seeking a moment of respite amidst the chaos, but I knew deep down there would not be one to find. I looked up into the sky at the rain of drop pods, or more likely the rain of debris as my fellow soldiers were shot from the sky. The moon hung in the sky, full and near to the planet. For a moment, I could not look away, and in awe I soon realized that it was no moon looming over me...

GROUND DEFENSE OF ATRISIA
OBJECTIVE: Total Societal Mobilization
ALLIES:
ENEMIES:

The first klaxons came over the interfaces of billions the Breakwater Absorber for energy pushing through the Breakwater came. The citizens of Atrisia were alerted quickly once something bypassed the Planetary Defensive security network, Hyperspace Bueys, the Sakoku the inner system security network and first layer of planetary shielding from the Anshin Mk II. The other worlds within the system itself serving as advances and warning as the inner ring of the Kami Asteroid Stations and Peony Stations. Systems within the city itself were going into lockdown, the armories opening as this was what the reforms brought by the Emperor had done. All able bodied man and woman were in the military once they reached a certain age... allowing Atrisia to have a standing army and navy always. The children, infirm and those who couldn't fight were able to be taken down into the Smart Facility Module bunkers for protection. Junko looked at she heard the first alerts now... the IMperial city going on lock down as the emperor and empress would be moved as needed. The generals of the regions alerted to the danger. After so many years, so many attacks it wasn't a question of knowing it was expecting. Her alert for the Kōgō Heika Mk. IV was up as the automated systems were raising it up to defend and follow her directions from the cloak of the palace. Defensive measures to send it along with several vessels over different areas as the Planetary Seed was going online.

Junko moved out of the room at the Palace of the hidden, her handmaidens on alert and moving as they had begun communicating. "Find out where the breach is, secure it and follow protocol. We have already begun procedures." The voices of the others came as each communicated with their families and regions. The daughters of lords, ladies, generals. From each regions and continent of the planet had come with her over the years. Their capabilities never in question when her guards were already mobilized. Junko turned to look at her. "Updates Nari?" The exterior of the woman was calm, she had been here when the Lords of the Fringe had attacked the capital after all... she knew the score in any case. "Energy converters were alerting us minutes ago engaging planetary protocols princess. Hostile ships tunneled through defenses until they were in orbit." Junko listened to that and understood quickly as she looked at what information was coming over their screens of the interface. Nari was looking at her as she crossed her arms. "It is just like any other attack princess, we will do what is needed. Kanamara planetary back ups are already coming online and prepared to handle attacks in infrastructure" She was preparing other report and tasks for the various house guards. Evacuation protocols would have already seen the important succession and leadership moved. Jar'kai as a place on the surface but they had an entire planet to defend and protect. Focus all forces in one area would be terrible in terms of tactical needs. THey would instead prepare and augment forces as needed. She knew they would start the growth pods to begin biot production.

SHe gave a nod of her as entering the throne room the map of the islands with its shield islands around it had zoomed out. Showing the region where they were. Nari stood next to her. "Initial reports have them making groundfall in Jar'Kai. City defenses and armored divisions are already beginning mobilization once the alert came in. Standing army prep is estimated at ninety four percent. Alerts have gone out to everyone from the surrounding area to the Horselords and Chitai. Invasion protocols are being mobilized as we speak." She said it as they were changing to show the city itself and the three large walls, the gaps between them where the villages, bunkers and towns were established and set up for the people. "Tachibana Class Orbital Platform Defensive stations are reporting a massive structure and fleet. Engagements will happen under coordination of the systems fleets converging on it." Junko was checking at it as she touched a screen area bringing it up. "How many Lookout Blinds do we have in orbit?" SHe asked it and the AIs were highlighting them. Once they got to the planet and she expected them to, they would be vulnerable for some time to set up and the stone of the cities was made to take orbital bombardment. "We have roughly twenty seven within range of Jar'kai princess with ten coming into position within forty minutes."

She appreciated it and rarely they would look up. "Good, when their forces touch down, I want orbital snipers picking targets. Go after their leadership and communications first. THen go after supplies and rations." There were blips of confirmation as Junko nodded her head to that information. "Jar'kai's defenses are online normally, make sure Orchid Platforms are secured and prepared for engagement. We'll be there within the next few minutes." She said it while moving as Barca stood there. The large mandalorian woman giving a nod of her head. "Word from Lei and her Yofukashi clan. THey are deploying where landfall is going to be made." Barca had a grin as she was securing her armor. "A Mandalorian air drop with war droids, Kenzo and her Metsuka will be following suit with Konoe plated in the Advanced Buddy Armor." "There was another small chuckle. "I don't imagine a twenty foot beast with heavy cannons and will be something that they expected." Junko thought about it with a laugh to herself. "THey will lead with Jade Screamers divisions for flanking areas. Gentoku Armored Trains will be redirected with their soldiers and reinforcements in the Smart Tunnels will be able to get there quickly for rapid deployment." The large woman said it as Junko offered a smile when she was walking. "Good Barca, now for the fun. is Xifang enjoying his armor?"

Miyoung looked up as the massive Tiger swished an armored tail. The materia encasing it in a flexible and segmented layer of armor with a blade on the end. His back holding two cannons while his size allowed them to be on the side with an area she could use to ride him into the fight. She was the size of a nexu or a reek in the case of fighting. "Oh he is loving it." Miyoung was one of the youngest but she was also one of the brightest minds they had in the Commonwealth. "We have reports of Matanga and Kappa being outfitted with armored systems already in reserve. Additionally we have Wukong force mobilizing Majokoi, Any forces that land will have heavy resistance from walker sized beasts already... now we are giving them massive cannons and shockwave generators from the Mandalorians for ripping apart tanks. We'll be able to deploy Superheavy Juggernaut Tanks to the location with the Hydra Class Combat Biot from Sasori. The Tiantai at the Sarnoi are continuing their containment of the Kameyama gate and the Wukong there will deploy extra Zenkyoku containment traps for things coming out of the rift."

Junko listened and Miyoung offered a look. "We have more, the Burakkugādo and Dorīmugādo once the Empire pour in we will do what we have planned. The Solace will be deployed for countering phobis devices and mental attacks from that station. We will bring out from the hospitals and temples Medical Pulse Generators to handle necrotic threats. After last time someone unleashed a plague these have been coming in handy with the air purifiers and implants for the peopleas Stardust Medical Systems will work on those within the biometrics to filter and protect. Saturation of the area with multiple countermeasures will continue per protocols. Nanite purification Noble Class Smart Clouds are being deployed with standard Smart Clouds to mitigate darkside influences and damage, Smart Towers are being opened to absorb darkside energy that reacts to the lightside energy within, zenkoku are being placed near the rift in case the Tiantai cannot contain it but they have. Tracking shows drop pods being deployed with field disruptors to bypass planetary shielding as they are coming at Jar'Kai." Miyoung said it while she was standing there now and Junko at least had a location. "Jar'Kai, so they went for the common target prepare mitigation modules and Reconstructor Mark 3. The Kazue Stone is not so weak to break, it can take orbital bombardment."

She said it with a look over the interfaces map as more and more blips were appearing. A small flick of her eyes to move the screen but she could see her own soldiers were highly efficient in preparing. "We'll be prepared to move within ten minutes princess." Nari looked at her and didn't bother to try and argue.. she knew they were going to go and it was just easier like this. Junko offered her a smile as she stood there. Her jedi robed kimono being in the room for her at the spire as they used the transportation network to relocate there. Jar'kai's sound very different from the palace as the people of the spire moved quickly. The rapid fabricators Thoris and Kabiri arming the population as under the reforms everybody was trained, everyone given the Nanocellular Implant for strength and Educational Implant for intelligence, they had developed the Taskmaster to regulate and standardize their training physically. So they would be able to be a cohesive unit and army. "Princess, we have the streets being cleared, hardpoints established." The woman spoke while leading her towards the inner chambers as they pulled up screens. The Asuka Class Combat Skin armor was impressive but they had standardized Common Threads for the normal everyday use to be protective for these very situations. SHe knew they had other parts here as the people of Jar'kai were accustomed to being in the capital and the first attacked it was why the walls were high and thick, the streets and buildings given alcoves.. and the Boa's rising up from the open areas. Heavy carriers that would position themselves in additional positions to layer shielding with starfighter corridors to filter transport movement of enemy forces.

The woman opened the one room as Junko settled onto the low, lacquered stool with a sigh, not of weariness, but of quiet anticipation. Outside, the sounds of the city the city fell into a steady, hypnotic rhythm against the walls of the dressing chamber a sound that was itself a form of meditation even in the chaos of the attack. The room itself was a study in controlled opulence, mirroring the very kimono robes she was about to don. Behind her, a screen glowed with patterns of gold and deep crimson, ornate and floral, while a decorative frieze of swirling, almost art deco, patterns lined the upper walls, echoing the rich textures of the garment. Her usual jedi princess kimono lay folded neatly beside her, the familiar, comforting weight of the star-spun fabric replaced by the cool press of smooth wood against her skin. Two women, silent and practiced, began the process. First came the hadajuban, a simple undergarment of thin, pristine karlini silk with materia. It slipped over Junko's shoulders, a soft, almost ghost-like layer that wicked away the lingering coolness of the air. As the woman tied the datejime a thin, supportive sash firmly around her waist, Junko took a slow, deep breath, consciously drawing the chaotic energies of the world into the calm center of her being, a technique she'd practiced for years to anchor herself in the Living Force and the white current. Her mind quieted, a familiar expanse of serenity opening within her, even as the world around her buzzed with the unseen currents of life and energy. She was expanding her thoughts... her feelings into the current as its depths were there to sink into.

Then, the main garment was presented, held aloft by two assistants. It was a formal, long-sleeved kimono, a masterpiece of weaving various force arts and clearly the inspiration for the princesses choice of decor. The fabric was a tapestry of colors and textures, much like the one she'd seen in the universe when she meditated. Dominant was a rich, deep crimson, bleeding into a lighter coral, adorned with intricate floral designs in soft greens, whites and yellows. The sleeves and lower panels featured larger, more abstract patterns in cream and gold, hinting at stylized blossoms or perhaps the wings of a fantastical creature. One side of the kimono, particularly the dramatic fold over her left hip, boasted a bold, almost sculptural arrangement of gold fabric, fashioned into what appeared to be layered, fan-like pleats, adding an almost architectural element to the flowing silk. This wasn't merely clothing; it was a statement. The fabric was lightweight woven silk materia, cool and substantial to the touch. The serving woman, with an almost ritualistic grace, raised the kimono, the voluminous sleeves the sode hanging like wings. As the fabric draped across Junko's back, a wave of cool, substantial weight settled upon her. She felt the silk slide down her arms, the length of the fabric adjusted with precise, almost surgical folds so that the collar, the eri, rested perfectly at the nape of her neck, just touching the small, sensitive column of her spine. It was a sensation of being wrapped, protected, and defined all at once. The collar itself was wide and striking, a band of lustrous gold, edged with a deeper, almost metallic red, drawing immediate attention to her neckline and the elegant curve of her throat. The loose material was pulled taut and folded inward, the skirt of the kimono expertly managed so that its hem kissed the floor with a respectful grace, creating a sense of height and majesty. ANother started applying the solari make up. White and smooth but pulsing with the solari crystals as it protected her and focused her.

The most complex part followed: the obi. The serving woman presented it a felxible, wide band of woven aurodium and scarlet crystal, mirroring the dominant colors of the kimono itself, perhaps with subtle patterns woven into its surface that would only be visible upon closer inspection. It was wrapped, layer upon layer, a formidable piece of architecture that required considerable strength to secure. With each firm tug of the fabric, Junko felt her stance shift. The obi, cinched tightly around her midsection, compelled her posture into a new, impossibly straight elegance. It was a discipline in cloth, forcing her to move with deliberate steps... an almost elegant footwork. A stark contrast to the explosive, acrobatic movements of Form IV of lightsaber combat. Yet, the restriction brought its own focus; her mind felt sharpened, her awareness heightened, the small, enclosed space amplifying her internal stillness. The weight of the obi, a solid, almost unyielding presence around her core, solidified her physical and mental foundation. She knew how to use it for makashi with the white lotus. Finally, the obi was knotted in a traditional taiko musubi at the small of her back a magnificent, complex knot that looked like a folded scroll or a stylized drum, a testament to the serving woman's skill. As the final adjustments were made to the fall of the sleeves and the drape of the skirt, Junko reached up to adjust her unique headpiece. Her hair, styled meticulously in an elaborate, towering chignon that reached dramatically upwards, a striking silhouette. From the base of this intricate coiffure, a series of delicate strings of polished Force crystals hung over her forehead like glittering bangs. Each crystal, small and perfectly faceted, caught the light, refracting it into tiny rainbows, and pulsed with a faint, almost imperceptible warmth against her skin a constant, soothing connection to the Force as it amplified her mental skills in the white current.

She brought her hands up, the fabric of the long sleeves brushing her fingertips. Her nails, she noticed, were long and perfectly manicured, a deep, glossy red that mirrored the crimson of her kimono, adding another layer of sophisticated detail. Clipped discreetly to her inner sash, close to her hip, was her lightsaber the white lotus. Its hilt was curved, designed for an elegant, fluid grip, and crafted with a polished, iridescent carapace of a queen gaping spider from Dathomir and whispering of power. The green hue and mist from a small water pouch coming around. The natural armor of the creature, known for its resilience and unique shimmer, had been treated to a high sheen, catching the light in a way that mimicked shifting oil slicks, hinting at both danger and profound beauty. It was a weapon and a work of art, a reflection of Junko's own blend of grace and lethal precision. She was no longer just a Jedi Master ready for battle, but a stately emissary, a figure of profound respect, poised between the ancient traditions of the world she now inhabited and the timeless wisdom of the Jedi Order. The weightless weave of the silk was the weight of tradition, of ceremony, of the hundreds of generations who had worn this garment before her. As she rose, the obi holding her perfectly rigid, her movement was a glide. The only accessory visible was the gleaming, unique hilt of her lightsaber, a quiet promise of power beneath the layers of silk. She paused, looking at her reflection the familiar, calm eyes of the Jedi peering out from a mantle of formal beauty, framed by the sparkling Force crystals that whispered with ancient power. A faint, almost imperceptible smile touched her lips. She was ready.
The dressing process was complete, a meticulous transformation from the practical Jedi to the ceremonial emissary. Master Junko now stood, anchored and rigid, the silk of the kimono a second skin and the obi a corset of woven authority. Her first steps in the full regalia were not merely movements, but a deliberate statement.

She drew another slow, measured breath, centering herself one last time. The stiffness imposed by the tightly bound obi was the primary challenge; it restricted the easy sway of the hips and the long strides she instinctively favored in her Jedi robes. This garment demanded verticality and control. Her right foot lifted, not forward, but subtly inward a small, almost imperceptible turn that shifted her weight with graceful economy. She placed the foot down, keeping the stride short and parallel. The hem of the kimono, weighted with its silk and lining, followed the movement precisely, whispering against the polished wood floor. It did not flutter or expose her ankles, but simply glided, maintaining a seamless, columnar shape from the obi down to the floor. The second step with her left foot was a mirror image: slow, deliberate, the weight transferring smoothly. The motion originated not from the hip, but from a calculated shift in her core, subtly engaged by the tightness of the obi. This forced constraint actually sharpened her focus on the Living Force, turning the simple act of walking into a micro-meditation on balance and grace. The voluminous sleeves the sode presented their own challenge. She held her arms slightly bent, close to her sides, ensuring the magnificent folds of fabric did not brush against any objects or even sway too dramatically. The movement of her hands was minimal, contained, as if they were resting inside a flowing current of silk. With each short, precise step, a soft, shh-shh sound emanated from the silk sliding against itself and the hidden lining. It was a rhythmic, almost meditative sound, contrasting sharply with the silent, often whooshing speed of a Jedi's typical gait. The Force crystals hanging over her forehead caught the lamplight with every subtle movement of her head, offering a faint, glittering shimmer that preceded her gaze. She reached the sliding door the shōji of the dressing chamber. Her hand moved slowly, the heavy cuff of the long sleeve sweeping in an elegant arc. She gripped the edge of the paper frame, the subtle scent of aged wood and rice paper filling her senses. She did not throw the door open; instead, she slid it with a steady, unhurried pressure, revealing the dimly lit corridor beyond. Her final movement was a turn, accomplished not by pivoting on her heels, but by taking a series of tiny, precise steps the suriashi that kept her body centered and upright. It was a measured, almost queenly pivot, allowing the full visual impact of the elaborate obi knot and the trailing silk of the kimono to be presented before she exited.

The whispers of the white current were there as she immersed herself within its flows and movements. Master Junko was no longer traversing space; she was performing a ritual, one slow, deliberate, and utterly silent step at a time. The weight of the silk, once an anchor, now felt like an extension of her own focused power. She stepped through the doorway, the rich crimson and gold of the kimono disappearing into the shadow of the corridor, leaving behind only the faint echo of silk upon silk. SHe looked out from the building as she looked down at the central square. Around the spire most would think the emperor and empress were here... but not really. The sounds of others were coming as the far-casting system brought https://www.starwarsrp.net/threads/sitharia-masamune.197914/ to her. The heir of Chitai... leader of the Chi-Oni forces. Ancient Atrisians who lived for battle like this, trained all of their lives in just fighting. Moon was there as an otachi but also the Kyushi represnitive as she stood with a grin on her face, her dusk hued skin smooth and scented with exotic spices, oils and Junko knew her people loved their poisons and finally standing tall with an ornate look. The Umanushi Horselords representative as their emperor would likely be leading any forces here on their Longma.. the massive beasts for the equally massive beings. Her hair was ornate and flowing around her body with metal weaved through it like armor, blades on her hips and a laugh on her face. The earliest alliance as the information was coming was also there. The Taeki were approaching the outposts of the southern continent... their blades sharp and teeth sharper. They had suffered when other beings came from the sky and their leader as she stood there looking around snarled. Lips pulled back to reveal filed teeth aand Junko knew from experience she was vicious... and her lips weren't rreally pulled back they were sliced off.. showing their dedication to the older gods to anyone and everyone. Junko looked at her and she could feel the hostility rolling off of her like a barely contained wave as the being didn't speak.

"The Taeki coming here to aid is an important aspects... all of you making the far-cast herre is important." She said it as Lei came in with a shimmer of energy in the air. her armor gleaming and sleek with the reflective crystaal metal to be polished. "Never going to get used to that." Her voice came as the large cat woman of Kenzo was there in her armor and holding a missile launcher. "Ah princess." her voice came out as she was looking. "Kenzo, Lau it is always nice to see you both." A smile was on her face as the sounds of cannons was coming.. the walls of the city aiming up as their anti air cannons were set to protect from the approaching drop pods. They were throwing them at the city which would do two things... one give them a lot of targets and also save a lot of their armor divisons. More so it would preserve the walls allowing them to create a kill box in most cases. "We are getting the carriers into position over the city." She said it as the areas that were considered no mans land at the bottom of the mountain and spire of stone was filled largely with open terrain and defensive carriers. The ships large as they rose up releasing alert fighters. "We will be bringing some of the others in. The Generals of Fiendfire and Stormcloud have their force mobilizing and we are being told the Xianghua Initiative are being brought in with their... Huggy Time Bears." She said it and the didn't like it but knew that there was no keeping them out of the fight... the Onna were coming, where the yovshin had honor... they did not... where the soldiers fought to defeat and would stop. She knew they were going to have to likely curb and stop them from executing any enemy force that they find. The sound of a communication coming through was there and it appeared. A hardlight projection of a silver clad warrior... the long cape flowing behind them as they walked and spoke with a voice modulator. "Jia Ren." Junko said it with a look on her face.

"Princess." The voice came. "You and the royals look like they are having a little trouble." The voice was too heavily modulated, the outfit generally made so no one knew. "Did you call to gloat?" She saaid it while moving with the others and they presented more of a united front as the streets were filling up. Yuánshuài Class Barriers being set up quickly with the portable barricades and laser grids, shield gates and portable ares inn the streets. Makie Class Droids were working with Aruni Drones as Tokusatsu Class Combat Biots were filing into the streets from the tanks that they had. The sleek biots shifting their weaponized hands as they would serve easily to augment the standing army of their soldiers. The first fighters incoming were Kabaneri MK. V as they hovered and shifted, the variable modes functioning like old vulture droids when they landed as walkers and took their positions bringing near instant armor support to areas most of their walkers wouldn't normally be set up. Jia Ren spoke standing there. "The Empire is bad for business princess and they didn't pay us to smuggle into the system. We could have shown them how." There was a look but also aa shrug. "We will follow behind the chisses defense fleet that has begun to mobile towards the inner system. We'll send our scavengers to pick at them and who knows maybe there will be some hgh value targets that people want to buy back." The voice gave a laugh as the communications cut away and more projections showed up. "Master Fang Min of the Wukong, Fleet Admiral Mitthm"ar"anuruodo Khan, Emperor Tamakatsura Ryozen." The names were given from the droid announcing it as Junko looked at all of them with a bow. There was others Vulpesen Vulpesen and his standing army being given access from the Veradune temple to the silk network. The Kaydryn being utilized for rushing vessels at the planet to throw pods for target practice when she heard the faint sound of the soldiers as they were setting up.

"Report Lady Ike." THe voice of the Emperor cut through the sounds and he stood tall as she bowed. "Emperor, we have begun defensive preparations. Prrotocols are being used but we are also following observing whoever is incoming to coordinate. Procedure has you joining the empresses in the Imperial palace." She said it while remaining there for a moment as she could see several soldiers setting up Hibani Scythes around the room. The wall attachments would be around the city for the purpose of grenades or falling debris should they maanage to damage the kazue stone itself. "Good, the Chi-Oni contingents will begin their movements. The emergence area near the Nhai mountains will let seventeen thousand get there while others go to the netherworld gates to aid the Tiantai." There was more, there was always more and Sitharia gave a nod of her head as she drew her blade to check it. Several Shield Gates being set up at the windows forr defensive measures while the walls received on the interiors Ablative Fortifications to reinforce the walls. THe procedures here being done would be repeated in buildings as they were made to be rapidly deployed, set up and create hold out locations. Defensive Grid traps being prepared and tied into sections as the princess looked at the admiral. The chiss waas older, recruited in negotiations by Akio when Atrisia pushed out that far and met Ashin Cardé Varanin and the Fringe Lords. "How is the fleet mobilization?" She was expecting good news, this quickly moving in had bypassed a lot and now the enemies forces were in a single area. "Proceeding, the standing navy is more then enough to crew the system fleets and we have them converging with calls out to Frisal to send our ships that are being in shakedown runs. The ship yards are reporting they have more being prepared as we diverted units from the fortress worlds to use them and converge as a third wave."

The next voice she heard stood there and the woman looked small... tall and radiated an almost sickly air... but her voice came out beautiful. "The Hijikata Moss has been reacting since the ships came into orbit. There are dark omens ahead but whaatever is happening on that station the Wukong shall send all of its people out. We have been training for moments like this and several Majokoi are being brought. You will have as much lightside support we can muster within the next thirty minutes." Her hands were up in front of herself. "We ill also send others to the hospital temples to aid the healing aspects where we need to." She bowed her head and the hologram disappeared leaving Junko to look at them all in the room. "Continue as we need, the alternative is what we had under Mythos and the sith but we know how to rebuild and we have only gotten stronger since then. We will use this to shore up the next generation of defenses aand technological achievements." She offered a small smile to it when everything cut off before she was turning around to look out the window. "Message from Commander Hel of the Kiliean Matriarchy, the rrest of your Otachi and the daughters of Hibana with the Sibsi N Sanilër For'ta Nidan. THey are committing forces to come princess and we have reports of the Onna on the move." She looked at them as she had to say something. The continued forces preparring as they moved more soldiers into positions. The connection to Veradune's temple was opened allowing some evacuations to the temple there as well as their force to be able to march directly into the city itself. She used their interfaces so thepeople would be able to hear but it wouldn't go over communication systems.

"People of Atrisia, hear me! All this chatter across the stars about our world craving peace, shying from battle, is nothing but a pile of nerf dung. We Atrisian do not seek war, but we do not fear it. We wanted to be left alone. Our blood sings with the honor of the Jade Empress, the fire of the Atrrisian Empire, the resolve of the Horselords. When you were children, you admired the swiftest pilots, the sharpest duelist of the Yovshin, the engineers who reforged the cities. Atrisian hearts beat for strength, for victory not to conquer the galaxy, but to defend our home. We've never broken to outsiders, we've survived and by the spirits of the Dragon Emperor, we never will. Battle is our forge it tempers our soul, it guards our freedom, it keeps Atrisia ours.

Not all of you will perish. In the fiercest clash, perhaps two percent of you here would fall to blaster or blade. Every soul trembles in their first fight anyone who says otherwise is a karking liar. But the true Atrisian fights through fear. Some master it in a moment under turbolaser fire, others in an hour, some in days. The real warrior never lets the shadow of death eclipse their honor, their duty to Atrisia, their pride in our Commonwealth. We fight not for glory, but to keep what is ours our lands, our seas, our skies.

You've grumbled through your training, cursing the endless drills of the Royal Academy the reforms, the cellular implants, the 'kriffing nonsense' of discipline. But those trials weren't for nothing. They forged you into a blade sharp, unbreakable, ready. The Anshin's shield gates, the breakwaters dyson shield the Kaydryn cannons, the Ao'Tuin's might they're nothing without your vigilance. You must stay alert, always, or some offworlder sleemo will quentum tunnel through our defenses and blast you into the void. We've seen graves on worlds like Sakurra, filled because one person was unaware. But those are were graves of the offowlrder, because we caught the bastard before his obsession returned.

Atrisia is one. We live, we build, we fight as one. This lone-hero nonsense spun by Coruscant holodramas is bantha poodoo. Those slicers know as much about war as they do about hyperspace engineering. We have the achieved more, the sharpest vibroblades, the most advanced tech in the galaxy. Food fabricators, the xenoforming to restore worlds, the Silk Gate networrk. By the Force, I pity the Imperial dogs who dare cross our hyperspace breakwater. They'll face the wrath of a world that's rebuilt from ashes again and again and learned each time. A world that will take this attack and continue to build newer countermeasures.

Heroes aren't just the Wukong wielding lightsabers or the Yovshin slashing through stormtroopers. Every soul here matters. Don't ever think your role is small. All have been trained to fight now. All have been given the means to protect their people this time. What if every pilot in our fleet decided they couldn't stand the screech of TIEs and hid in a bunker? That coward might think, 'I'm just one in billions, they won't miss me.' If every one of you thought that, where would Atrisia be? Shattered, like Jar'Kai under Mythos's storm. No, thank Zanza who purged it and whose sacrifice created the lightside plants that will make that more difficult to repeat, Atrisian blood doesn't run that way. The mechanics keep our starfighters soaring, the quartermasters bring rice and plum wine, because where we're going, there's no loot to scavenge. Even the droid in the mess hall, purifying water to keep us from the runs, holds the line.

Think of your family beside you, not just yourself. We have no place for cowards in Atrisia's ranks anymore. They're a blight, to be cut out like rot in wood. Cowards breed weakness; the brave forge strength. Root out the faint-hearted, and we'll build a Commonwealth of iron will. During the war with Mythos, I saw a technician in Xiaolang, clinging to a comm tower under Sith blaster fire. I asked what in the blazes she was doing. She snapped, 'Fixing the relay, master jedi.' I said, 'Isn't it a bit hot up there?' She shot back, 'Yes, ma'am, but this kriffing signal's got to hold.' I asked, 'Those Sith speeders don't bother you?' She smirked, 'Not as much as you do.' That's an Atrisian. Duty above all, no matter the odds, no matter how small the task seems. And you should've seen the convoys in Kansai, hauling supplies through ash storms and Force lightning. Those drivers common folk, not soldiers kept moving, day and night, through ravaged lands. Some piloted for days without rest. That's the spirit of the people who forged the Jishi era. They weren't warriors, but they were Atrisian, part of our unity. Without them, we'd have fallen.

We all want peace. We want to rebuild our cities, tend our fields, sip tea under cherry blossoms. But peace isn't won by hiding behind the Anshin's shields. The Empire's coming, and the only way to keep our home is to crush their fleets before they pollute our skies. We don't want their worlds, their credits, their thrones, we'll rip those from the walls. we want Atrisia left alone. The fastest way to that is through their Star Destroyers. When we're done, I'll personally plant a tree in their memory. If you cower in a trench, an Imperial will find you. To hell with that. Our warriors cower in trenches slow us down. Keep moving. We'll win this fight, but only by showing the Empire we've got more resolve than they'll ever muster. We're not here to blast them; we're here to tear their kriffing aarmy apart and use the scrap to reinforce our tea cups. We'll shred those Imperial sleemos by the freighter-load.

Some of you wonder if you'll break under fire. Don't. I know you'll hold. Battle is brutal, a killing business. The Empire is the enemy. Wade into them, spill their blood, or they'll spill yours. Blast their walkers, gut their ships. When blaster bolts scream and you wipe the ash from your face, only to find it's the blood of your comrade, you'll know what to do. I am a jedi and shouldn't talk like this but I am Atrisian and like most of you fed up and tired of watching my people killed.

No one says, 'I'm holding my position.' We're not holding a damn thing. We advance, always, and we're not here to claim their worlds we're here to grip the Empire by the throat and kick it back to Coruscant. Our plan is to charge through their lines like a Longma through a forest. Some will say we're pushing too hard. I don't care. An hour of sweat saves a liter of blood. The harder we fight, the more Imperials we burn. More dead Imperials, fewer dead Atrisian. Push harder, lose less. Our warriors don't surrender. I won't hear of anyone taken unless they're bleeding out and even then, you fight. We gave you the finest in healing technologies and medical tech use it. I want warriors like the Horselord God on the plains, who, with a blaster to his chest, smashed the usurper's soldiers helmet with his own and gunned down another, all with a bolt through his ribs. That's Atrisia's heart.

Don't speak of me being here. No holomessages, no whispers. The galaxy doesn't need to know where I stand. Let the first to learn be those Imperial bastards when they see our Royal fleets and cry, 'By the Force, it's the Atrisian armadas!' Decades from now, when you're sipping plum wine by the Water Gardens, and your younglings ask, 'What did you do in the twelveth battle of 902 ABY?' you won't mutter, 'I tended fields on Kansai.' No, you'll look them in the eye and say, 'I fought with Princess Junko, and we kept Atrisia free!'

We're not alone in this, we have spent years cultivating friendships, we have worked with Shoma to forge treaties and given enclaves. We have Chiss defense forces given home after their world was destroyed, we have twi'lek warriors rescued during raids who have stayed to aid with our tactics, herglic warriors who have stood with us since the time we were Kital, mirialian healers ensuring our medical technologies can handle the multitude of plagues that have been unleashed upon us. They developed the murakami innoculations, zeltron engineers creating the nanie clouds that will infuse solari crystals in the air to mitigate darkside influences, sakuran artists for wartime propaganda about the skills you ahve all done, frisal shipbuilders who have built the fighters we have in the skies and ships, kiribi pilots who work with our walker divisions, jin riders filling out the ranks of the jade screamers, the daughters of hibani with their sibsi force users, kiliean forces that have fought traitors and our darker elements. All of these allies deliver a portion of the diversity of tactics on Atrisia. It is what has been done to prepar you, what has been given to make our chance to live and unite as one force across this planet.

Alright, you fierce sons and daughters of the Commonwealth. You know my will. I'm proud to stand with you, to defend our home anytime, anywhere. That's all."

She said it as she looked at it and her Otachi had filed into the room, each handmaiden there prrepared and ready. Armored robes, their weapons and equipment was all ready. Baarca's wardroid was at the ready. Phaidor looked at her and spoke with a smile. "Longshot War Droids aare getting into position princess. They will begin anti-orbital firing from around the continent while others are locked onto the Empires landing area. We'll unleash heavier cannon fire from within the wall and keep the shelling up as needed." Barca spoke as her helt enclosed her face. "The Glydr Class War Droids will maintain themselves in the streets. For now once they start breaking down those drop pods they will move into choke points once their size gets large enough to block it off. And the Yofukashi report their Cerberus War Droids are prepared for a mandalorian air drop." You could hear the humor there in her voice now.. practically see the smile under the helmet with its jade and darker tones. Junko walked as they continued towards the outside and she was feeling the shifting of the currents around her. She could see others were coming, more arriving who might provide aid. Her gut telling her Atrisia wasn't a factor as much as the ones from the GA and High Republic who would be here. Kirano stood there next to her as she spoke. "My mother and sister as getting some of the Ta-Wa-Ka to the surface with Senkaku who will provide reinforcements when they get up here princess."

She continued outside and stood at the base of the spire. Able to look out on the city streets as they were lined with soldiers prepared and at the ready. Saso shielding in the front and ready, the furthest units in the back holding the lightbows as they were designed to take down fighters. Xifang was there with her as the massive Tiger roared, his armor gleaming and flexible but loaded with shoulder cannons. A hand coming out and petting his massive size as she could feel it. The shifting in the ground more and more, they had brought to protect themselve the bryn Giants of living Stone that were in the valley between the walls. They were like theirr namesakes and they were able to do a whole lot more for them as they could shift and alter the landscape to create protected areas for the soldiers or where they wanted to go. Junko rolled her shoulders as she stood there prrepared for the fight... they would have to be but she listened to Miyoung who was next to her in her armored robes with a Kyūdō class lightbows. "This is quite fascinating princess they barreled thrhough the breakwater and the hyperspace defenses, it gives me improved ideas how to fix them. Better we can engiener aadditionaal countermeasures based on what the scans will be giving us to these ships that they are using. The station alone will provide readouts to pour over for days." SHe said it all with a smile on her face while Barca was looking at her as she secured her weapons.

"Could you try not being so excited." There was a grim voice but she was there at the girls side ready to defend. "Oh but I am not... I am scared for a lot of things, my family has more of a chance of being hurt but that is why I have been working on so many of the things that we developed here. To protect them and the other people by extension so now I have more things to develop. I wonder if we can... oh I know if you can get me to my lab I can start developing with the Kaikichi Project. We can use the new generaators to create the energy and materials with the fabricators to power it and start developing countermeasures." She said it and there was a gleam in her eye with it.. and it wasn't her glasses as the sounds of the western wolves coming was important. Pocket Tanks were coming into the streets as they were small enough to be kept within the spire... and small enough they were designed to move in the streets. Miyoung was looking at it. "I also have two Ultraheavy Atlasbreakers at my Lab we were looking for ways to ablate their design with molecular disruption... we would be able to compact them for travel purposes. Imagine being aable to haave a small army of them in a cargo hold and deploying it against an attacking force... it would be beneficial." Junko looked at her aand she waited sending a message that they would be able to use with the interface rather then planetary com channels that could be monitored. "Everyone prepared?" She said it as she looked over her own prep in her mind.

They had sculpted her from a deep jade crystal and placed her hewn visage atop a tall gray stone pillar in a lush garden beside the Temple of Healing. Jedi Lightsworn Kylass Starhaven looked up at her glimmering former Atrisian Jedi Master, Zanza Hijikata, but just barely. Her master had been dead for years. Master Hijikata had died fighting a Sith incursion by the Lord Mythos, sacrificing herself through becoming one with the Light itself. Her lingering influence still could be felt across the planet in a great blossoming nexus of light that the Atrisian’s called the Kōyō Jar'kai. But for Kylass, it didn’t warm her heart to sense her Master’s presence, it was a constant reminder; it made all of Atrisia feel like a tombworld for Kylass. Kylass drew down her silvery eyes from the jade statue, unable to maintain any eye sight with it without a wrenching pang of sorrow dragging on her quiet breaths.

“The Master Crystal Artificers must have only known the stories of her heroism,” said a wizened, hoarse voice from behind Kylass. “Otherwise they would have sculpted her usual mean scowl, instead of that romantic grin.”

Kylass smiled and turned around to greet her master’s old companion, the Wukong Warlord of the First Division, Yamakuni Genryusai. The old man was a member of the Atrisian Wukong, a guard of Force Swordsmen, trained in an adjacent creed derived from both the Jedi Knight and Yovshin Swordsmen traditions. Genryusai had been a childhood friend of Kylass’ Master Zanza, but fate would separate them as Zanza would go to the Jedi Order and Genryusai would begin his Wukong path shortly after. Years later he had risen through the ranks from Laozi, a Padawan, towards becoming a Tiě Shàn Gōngzhǔ, a Warlord, in charge of the Wukong First Division Jar’Kai Guards.

Kylass had ventured to the capital in Mirai Jar’Kai as an envoy of the Sworn Host and the Ashina Clan. The Lightsworn and the Imperial Court had been at odds with one another having been operating separately for so long. The Imperial Court found it worrisome that a Jedi Force was waging war from its planetary borders outside of the formal structures of the Imperial Armed Forces. Having connections with the Imperial Family was a student of her master Zanza, who herself was once a Yovshin Swordswoman, Kylass had come to see if differences could be bridged during a meeting with the collective Warlords of the Wukong. Kylass could still hear the prophecy the Jedi Seer Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania had told her, ‘You will fight again, soon, to defend something dear’. This portend too had compelled Kylass to meet with the Wukong and Imperial Courtiers.

Genryusai strode closer to Kylass, stomping a marching beat with this long walking cane. Kylass placed her fist into her other hand’s open palm in a salute and bowed her head.

“Always a pleasure to see you Master Genryusai Gōngzhǔ,” said Kylass.

“Enough, enough, Yuchi’ttal,” replied Genryusai, calling Kylass by the Atrisian nickname her master had given her. “Up, up, now.” Genryusai waved his hand for Kylass to raise her head and walked past her, rounding the statue of Zanza and onto the garden’s winding white-pebbled pathways. “Walk with me,” he continued.

Kylass followed but gave her master one look from over her shoulder. A curt bow and prayer passed, and she continued on. Walking beside the aged Wukong Warlord, the two progressed in silence under the shadows of tall weeping willows and between the green mounds of the garden’s imagined countryside landscapes.

“I am informed you have sworn your saber now to the Ashina’s Sworn Host,” said Genryusai suddenly.

“I have,” said Kylass. “You believe I should have joined you in the Wukong Guard Divisions?”

“On the contrary, Young Yuchi’ttal,”
said Genryusai. “I had feared that after Zanza’s passing you’d stay a wandering Ronin and shun Atrisia, becoming bitter from the taste of vengeance.”

“Lord Inosuke Ashina Inosuke Ashina and Lady Henna Ashina Henna Ashina have kindly given me a purpose in that respect, Genryusai Gōngzhǔ,”
began Kylass, but her words sunk into a grimmer tone. “But the bitterness lingers. Even in blessed places like this.”

“Hmmm,”
grumbled Genryusai. “Her death remains a wound that does not heal.”

“It is selfish I know and goes against the Jedi’s path of revering the transience of life,”
Kylass confessed. “My master has become the very Light itself here in Jar’Kai, a nexus of great protection. She is with us all. But for me, she--”

“But she is not with you, when you need her most…As a daughter would need her mother, neh?”
said Genryusai, answering a question that Kylass was never going to ask.

Kylass stopped walking and fell deathly silent. Genryusai stopped only a few paces ahead, pausing at a stone statue hewn from a solid dark stone in the image of some ancient Atrisian Protection Deity. In their silence, the winds and the rustle of leaves played a whispered lament for Kylass’ welling sadness. She looked at the pebbles under her feet and the dappling shadows cast from the momiji maple trees. Kylass didn’t want to say anything. She wasn’t sure if it was embarrassment for such a childish want or her scarred and calloused mind trying to encase her wavering heart in its entombing fold. After all these years she still couldn’t face her Master. Kylass had thought that a new purpose as a crusader of the Jedi Lightsworn would mend the void that Zanza left when she passed. But even now she couldn’t get past it. Kylass was beginning to wonder if she would ever.

“What must I do to rid myself of this sadness?” said Kylass.

“You can do nothing…,” said Genryusai. “...But, live on…and do so with peace. Someday.”

“And if I can’t?”
Kylass prodded

Genryusai turned his head and stomped his cane in a strong thud that startled Kylass out of her painful recollection.

“There is no can or cannot, Yuchi’ttal,” growled Genryusai. “There is only duty and cause. All else is shadows on stone and wind in the trees. Understand?”

Kylass nodded and walked over to Genryusai. Genryusai gave Kylass’ back a hard thwack of his cane, which sent her forward in a stumbling lurch. The two walked for hours until they returned to the meeting.

The first set of klaxons thundered in blaring wales from outside of the meeting’s halls. A wave of alert flushed across the faces of the Wukong Warlords and Imperial Courtiers who had been locked in conversation with Kylass for the past few hours. A deep shudder and riven through Kylass’ senses, a warning that echoed in the Force with the words of Corazona. Kylass whipped her head and caught Genryusai’s severe glare, he nodded and Kylass shot up from her seat, rushed towards one of the sliding screen doors. With a wave of her hand the Force threw aside the screen door and Kylass jumped onto the veranda outside. Looking up, her eyes widened and her mouth split open a silenced gasp. Fire and fury was raining down on the capital. A meteor shower of dropships and debris from the orbital defenses of the planet was pelting the tall acrology of Jar’Kai…it was a full scale planetary assault…and at a time when the Sworn Host had been away on a secret mission to Had Abbadon. It was only Kylass and a token force of Lightsworn Jedi who had accompanied her on the envoy mission.

Kylass spun back around and marched to Genryusai who was being flanked by other Wukong Force Swordsmen, bedecked in green robes and cloaks. “Go!” shouted Genryusai. “The Wukong will deploy with you soon! Warriors to your sabers!”

Kylass nodded and ran out of the meeting hall and onto the streets of Jar’Kai not far from the Temple of Healing. She ran past the statue of her Master, looking on in stoic determination, and Kylass watched the skies tear apart. The rent in the clouds above the capital sent out a shockwave in the Force and it bombarded Kylass’ senses with whiling dread. She stopped and clutched her head. This power was tearing the very fabric of space and time, an abhorrent profanity against the nature of the Force. Using the Force to calm the initial shock, Kylass snapped her neck back and looked directly above Jar’kai.

A whirling torrent of whirlwind storms and ravaging tides of power, cleaved a void rift and spat black-clad troopers into the city. One tendril of this churning vortex wound disgorged forces onto the district known as the Honeycomb. Kylass knew what they were after, the very defensive grid of the entire city. She drew her split-saber hilt from her TEMPLAR-Class Jedi Temple Guard Armor and rushed over to the Honeycomb District.

MOVE.

SWERVE.

JUMP.

The woman continued advancing through the ruined remains of what used to be an idyllic Artisian neighbourhood, feeling a rising tension build up inside her chest. There had been moments where she could've sworn that she had almost stumbled over the remains of a forlorn cadaver, but she did not stop a single time to confirm her suspicions. Eventually, she was met with a wall that hadn't been destroyed yet, as she had reached a point of the block which had been spared levelling. But the rhythm of the battle had carried her too far.

Emboldened by the melody of war and the war cries of various sides echoing through the evacuated settlement, she jumped through the paper wall and fell on the other side – landing on her face. Just as fast as she had fallen, she rolled around on her side to jump up. And a few seconds before her hands had recovered her supplies, she was interrupted by a martial screech coming from some unseen corner.

An Artisian elder, who had stubbornly refused to go to the bunkers to seek refuge shoulder-checked the woman through the wall, opening a second hole in the pagoda and tossing her outside to the pavement, in exactly the same way she had entered.

"YOU PIECE OF –" she stammered, having to take a few pauses as she had landed on her tongue. The man replied instantly
in his Artisian war-babble tongue which she could only assume was some one-liner about murder. And without delay, he had made his way out of the building through the wall he had tossed her out of, tightly grasping onto a relic of a sword which was probably older than them both.

With a steady stream of blood coming out of her face, she couldn't be bothered to attempt to duel this man. She reached into her coat as he prepared to swing, her finger curling desperately around an unseen trigger and firing. The man dropped on the ground a few seconds just as he was about to slice her throat, his ancient balding head rapidly draining out on pavement in front of her.

Only then did she stand back up, with the hole she had shot through her coat still smoking. An interesting trick, she figured. Maybe she'd get to use it again should she survive. With that out of the way, too shellshocked to cry and too stimulated to stop moving, she marched right back into the building through the first hole her body had created, leaving blood stains on its fine wooden tiles while she attempted to go for her things.

The fact that her hearing had gone out of commission didn't mean that she'd lower her guard, however. She raised her blaster next to her head at the ready as she approached her things, only to stop in the middle of the way. Something felt off, clawing at the back of her skull strikingly enough that it had somehow bypassed her adrenaline.

She rotated around where she stood like a rabid animal, inspecting the formerly warm interior with prying eyes, trying to find the source of the feeling, until it settled on a half-open wardrobe. From where she stood, she could only see the reflection of two shiny orbs peaking through the parted middle of its doors, but the implication far exceeded the risks she was willing to take.

She moved her hand towards it, aiming at the doors only for them to slowly open to reveal a miniature human who was shaking, and their eyes were helplessly clogged with tears.

Every single strand of her being began tugging at her fingers and their muscles, trying to keep her from firing at the kid. Thus far, she had done well in surviving the affair. Following orders, running through flames and jumping over craters. But now, something within her was trying to tell her that enough was enough, a spirit of mercy within her that hadn't been stifled by training, as she hadn't experienced anything of the sort. She wasn't even a soldier.

You're losing time, Dawer.

Rising to confront the empathy building within her, she remembered the speeches of her superiors, and in her head the looming shadow of her comrades running out of ammunition and dying rose to cover the pleading face of the child. Now was not the time for hostages, but it wasn't the time for liabilities either.

Through gritted teeth, she pressed the trigger. And again, and again, and again, until the blaster's barrel had overheated and nothing remained of the begging face before her. She turned her back to the now amorphous mass of lean muscles and ligaments, picking up her supplies and resuming the trail to locate her fellow Imperials.

It was a nice place to be stationed, to be moved. He wondered how they knew this place was gonna get hit. Rolin ran fast, alarms blaring. The tanks had already been loaded and fueled immediately upon their arrival planet-side almost 48 hours ago to the T. His men were tired, weary from travel, and missing home.

And now, the entire planet was under attack. Rolin rolled his hands up in the air, making sure each of his tank crews rushed to their tanks. He breathed deeply, looking up in the sky. Overhead, the rushing of turbolaser fire, the screeching of TIE fighters and the distant streaking fires of drop pods descended on the planet. They looked like asteroids, like a comet storm. In another lifetime, removed from here, it would've been strangely beautiful.

All Rolin felt, was fear.

The tanks roared to life, and Free Buffet took the lead in the column. They were heading directly for the Imperial Assault positions, beachheads established by the landing Stormtroopers. Pockets of resistance already sprang up throughout the city. Rolin pulled his head out of the hatch, and charged the heavy repeater on top of the tank. His eyes cast upwards, then back down to the now-smoking planetscape.

"All stations, all stations, this is Boxer Company, 2nd Armor. Standing by for tasking, will be engaging the enemy."

He was going to drive his tank company right to the enemy, whether he was scared or not. He was going to kill as many of them as he could. And hopefully, survive the entire ordeal.

GREAT WALL
ATRISIA
Kasan Osera Kasan Osera Kylass Starhaven Kylass Starhaven et al.
BHj7K1e.png

Master San Tekka gazed up towards the heavens at a sea of falling stars. His ceremonial temple guard armor had been damaged on Coruscant and the Hirata family mail was an imperfect fit. It felt uncomfortable to move around but that was a small price to pay for the symbolism of a Jedi wearing traditional Atrisian scales forged in the Edo Mountains.

Banners snapped and furled under pressure from high altitude winds. It was a long way down the impressive city battlements which bristled with gun emplacements. Instead of his faceless death mask Zark surveyed their defenses from behind a leering demon mask inspired by ancient folklore. On either flank his honor guard consisted of crusaders sworn to the Dragon of Ashina but their presence was dwarfed by the Atrisian Royal Guard and even a few divisions of GADF shocktroops mustered on short notice.

Just like in his dream of this moment the Jedi Master did not speak a word. Zark pointed his lightsaber towards the firmament and ignited the blue plasma blade in the same breath as the Great Wall spit fire. Defense turrets carved the skies in half with a thunderous roar. The operators were following orders which had nothing to do with his signal, but he sensed the coming moment and hoped it would bolster morale if the gathered soldiers felt a sense of unified purpose from their commanders.

"Hold the line."

His direct subordinate and old friend Qiao Fang bowed in response. Master Zark turned from the Great Wall and directed the lightsworn honor guard with a quick decisive gesture to move out. Soon the local airspace would be choked with fire but for now there was still a battered old Alliance gunship hovering behind the battlements with its bay door open. Stepping onto its deckplate required the old man to banish an irrational feeling that he was throwing himself off solid ground and into free fall.

"Take me to the Spire."

He barely heard the pilot's distorted acknowledgment over roaring engines. Soon they passed over a city on the verge of panic but still trusting in the routine of emergency plans. That would all change as soon as the first drop pods struck the surface. Zark disembarked onto the skydock when the impacts started to rumble. Some of the gathered defenders saluted him. This world had a long memory and some even remembered the Jedi General who fought an old war against the Sith on this world.

Holding this fortress would be like playing a three-dimensional game of dejarik. The Imperials would concentrate their first assaults near the bottom which gave Master Zark and his coalition forces the high ground. Tacticians throughout the galaxy understood the significance of that advantage. Their ultimate objective however was not the skydocks but the shield generators protecting much of Jar'Kai against orbital bombardments. That was a weakness it was going to cost him to protect.

"Starhaven, status report."

  • Lightsworn crusaders set up a command outpost at the city skydocks for clear line of sight throughout the combat zone.
  • Coalition of Rogue Lance, Atrisian Royal Military, and GADF marines entrench throughout the Spire to protect the skydocks and city shield generators.
  • Communications established with Lightsworn command at the Temple of Healing.

Tempest of Blades

ZJqTFYf.png

Warnings sounded across the city well before the Death Star appeared above the planet. Stationed soldiers belonging to the Galactic Alliance Defense force moved in tandem with Atrisia's planetary defenders in preparation for the coming danger. This was it. The day so many across the stars feared. PROJECT STARDUST—the once distant threat—loomed closer with each passing second, and the Jedi gathered within the walls of Jar'kai were woefully unprepared for its arrival.

Kyric raced through the halls of the Temple of Healing alongside the likes of Kylass Starhaven, Briana Sal-Soren, Lorn Reingard, and many others brought together by the machinations of the Force. The kiffar cleared the entrance of the temple in time to see reality ripped apart by the distant Sith Lord, Darth Bellum. Soldiers of unknown origin flooded the city streets from these portals, and within seconds, chaos descended on the city in the form of wanton bloodshed.

Others spilled out from the temple not long after Kyric. He looked back at the Jedi, his face grim.

"We don't have time to organize a proper defense," Kyric said to Briana, his gaze shifting from her to Jand immediately after. "I'll join Master Starhaven an' attempt to find the source of these portals. Jand,—" he looked to the man who bore the title of Sword, "—its now er never, my friend. Trust Bri an' Lorn. I've never known finer Jedi in my life."

And with that, Kyric turned and dashed after the rapidly disappearing form of Kylass.

Panic surged through the city streets, infecting the residents of Jar'kai as the dark powers above delivered an undeniable malignance unto those untrained below. The weight of total annihilation worked to undo the decades of preparation put into motion by the Atrisians, but the people were not so easily cowed. Those familiar with the corruptive essence of Bogan sheltered the ill-prepared, guiding them through the madness to the appropriate shelters and evacuation routes. But no plan was perfect, and rarely did they survive first contact with the enemy.

Bellum's dark legion spilled out into the city like an infestation. Innocents died in droves; their pained cries cutting through the defenders' attempts to keep things ordered and under control.

One such soldier exploded through the front of what Kyric assumed to be a tea shop as Kylass righted herself against the dark powers at play. The kiffar blurred, his body a living storm of cutting winds and endless motion. He cleared the gap between himself and the rogue legionnaire. A streak of silver left in his passing. The legionnaire's head disappeared upon a gust of wind, and the soldier's still charging body ragdolled into a nearby alley.

"My blade is yer's Starhaven," Kyric said, falling in behind the arkanian Jedi Master.

  • Kasan's squad are dead. She puts out a call to nearby units to rally on her.
  • Imperial units move toward Kasan's position, preparing to siege the Spire.

--------------------------
Kasan's first impression of Jar'Kai was how incredibly clean it was.

Well, apart from all of the scorch marks and debris from incoming pods, but that wasn't the locals' fault.

She'd heard stories about the Atrisian Commonwealth long ago, before the Empire had captured the Core Worlds and her life had been turned upside down. Tourists on Dremulae, people wealthy enough to fully enjoy the resorts that she'd scraped a meager living working at, had called it a post-scarcity society. Supposedly it was the kind of place where programmable matter machines built everything you needed, and every home was self-sustaining, able to grow its own food. Looking at the tall, elegant buildings around her, Kasan could almost believe it. But if such a place existed...

... then what the feth was wrong with the rest of the galaxy?

Why did these people get to live their perfect little lives while, in the whole rest of the galaxy, the vast majority struggled and suffered? Why did only they get to reap the benefits of the technology that apparently meant they never had to work hard for a single damned thing? In that moment of revelation, Kasan Osera decided that she hated these people. They had sat here in comfort, wealthy and secure and lazy, while people like Kasan had known cold and hunger and exhaustion every day of their lives. She hated them because they had it so easy, and they probably didn't even recognize it.

She could never in a billion years give her daughter a life one tenth as good as what these people took for granted.

"Squad, report in," Kasan called out over the comms. Blaster rifle in hand, head on a swivel, she made her way through the shattered front of the noodle shop she'd landed in and out into the street. The once-serene city - irritatingly serene, as if there was something in the very air - was now full of the sounds of blasterfire, explosions, and screaming... but all the noise was still a little ways off, as if she'd landed in the eye of the storm. Several other drop pods had come down with her, but as she approached, she saw that they were only pieces of drop pod. The air defenses had taken their toll.

Was anyone left alive? Kasan felt a moment's panic that she was somehow alone, the only Imperial who'd survived the hellish dive through the Anshin. Rationally she knew that couldn't be true; she could hear the fighting nearby. But the emptiness of the street, with every civilian seemingly evacuated to some unknown fallback point, made her feel terrifyingly alone. She broadened the military channel she was broadcasting on. "All Imperial forces in the area, rally on me!" They had to get moving. Alliance forces were surely reinforcing the Spire even now, and if the shields stayed up...

... well, there would be no way out for Kasan, or anyone else down here.

Hopefully someone would hear her call. They needed to consolidate their strength.

A sound up the street made her instinctively duck, and the motion saved her life as a blaster bolt clipped the armor over her left shoulder. Kasan dropped back behind the shattered storefront, scanning the street, and then cursed - a squad of Atrisians was moving up the street, fanning out to get a better angle on her. She'd heard a rumor that every single able-bodied member of the Atrisian population was given cybernetics and conscripted into military service. That couldn't be right, could it? Even the Empire didn't try complete civilian mobilization. But in this place, anything seemed possible.

"Transmitting location - I'm pinned down," she called out over comms.

Even getting to the Spire in this hostile city was going to be a challenge, let alone taking it...

LABOUR FOR THE EMPEROR AND THE CELESTIAL COURT
The woman's fevered charge decelerated upon her feeling the vibration of her transponder begging for reinforcements. She turned on her heels and fell behind cover -tossing her cargo first, of course- to inspect its screen, and the coordinates attached to the message.
Thankfully, the direction which she had taken thus far seemed to be leading her towards the right way. Unfortunately, her heading was apparently overrun according to the call, and that meant that her depot and herself were currently behind enemy lines. She clipped her small device to her belt and picked up her crates, taking a moment to familiarise herself with the place she had just jumped through for cover.

It took her a few moments, but eventually she realised that she had jumped into the ground floor of a small hair salon, full to the brim with abandoned chrome-plated equipment more expensive than everything that she had on her body.

And then it hit her like lighting. She deposited her crates on the ground and rushed over to fiddle with one of the styling machines. While their purpose was unknown to her, she knew how to press an on and off button, and upon confirming that there was indeed power still running through the building, she grinned.

She withdrew, reaching for a pair of metallic scissors that had been left on the site by the building's former occupants, and made her way towards the back of the store, to the maintenance closet. For her square mind, finding the circuit breaker box between the forest of wires was no challenge, and a few mean tugs later, its lid was on the floor.

She flicked off the lever for the main power, and removed the main fuse. In its place, she shoved the pair of scissors, practically punching and kicking it into place to complete the circuit. Fuses blow out. A piece of ornate durasteel, usually doesn't.

She turned the main back on, and returned into the guest area. What followed was a flurry of movement, moving and jumping on every single appliance to turn them on. From the faintest light bulb to the strongest hair dryer, none were spared, and once everything was said and done, she could almost swear that the transistors in the backroom were crying.

Most of the outlets were occupied due to this, except for one – the one nearest to the entrance. She approached it, ripping pieces of wallpaper and dragging along any magazine and leaflet about hair she could find, and dumping them all under the outlet. The small bundle was quickly joined by wooden furniture, and anything flammable she could her hands on. Purposefully, she left any lingering cans of hair spray a bit further away from the area, hoping to… well. Delay the fireworks enough that she could potentially escape.

Artisia was a very fascinating specimen of a planet, and its cities were likewise unique. Classical architecture combined with an almost inappropriate amount of technology. As if the roots of a tree were made out of copper wires, in a sense. And the tree itself was a satellite tower. She shrugged the collapsing metaphor off as she picked up another, smaller pair of scissors, and disconnected the blades from each other to keep one, which she bent into a U shape, and approached the outlet with her leather gloves.

"Ddhngb-r, fbr…"

Her mouth rumbled, frothing with blood and saliva. What had she attempted to say? A prayer? A curse? It didn't matter. What mattered was that the woman shoved the bent blade into the outlet, one end into the live slot and another into the neutral slot. The circuit, already far exceeding its standard voltage because of her fusework exploded in a fireball of molten plastic and bamboo shrapnel, sending her flying against her crates.

Kasan Osera Kasan Osera 's helmet audio transmitted the sound of a distant explosion behind the enemies surrounding her. It was short and sudden, not overdrawn like those of the defenders' artillery or Imperial ordinance. Almost, sharp, in a way, like a pistol – but louder. And soon enough, behind the creeping lines of the enemy, who were thus far set on advancing, smoke began to rise in tremendous, black clouds.

A massive fire had broken out a few districts behind them, threatening to begin engulfing the entire sector. And unlike the smaller ones around the City, this one persisted, egged on not by fuel - but the very thing that made Artisia one of a kind.

  • Near the City Gardens, stormtroopers prepare to burn cornered defenders alive.
  • In the Theater House, Imperial Army troops prepare to gas trapped noncombatants.
  • Near the Spire, stormtroopers deploy smoke to cover their charge toward the structure's base.

--------------------------
The soldiers of the Galactic Empire fell from the heavens and surged into the streets.

They had no advantage of surprise - the Atrisian early warning systems had picked them up long before the strike force above had been able to deploy them. They had no advantage of numbers - they faced a planet where every able-bodied civilian had been pressed into service, not to mention the countless elite auxiliaries that fought beside the Atrisians. They had no advantage of firepower - their armored support had been forced to land outside the Great Wall, and until the planetary shield came down, there could be no close orbital support. But they did have two things on their side.

Absolute faith in their Emperor, and absolute brutality to any who opposed His will.

Individually, certainly, they had their doubts. Behind the white faceplates of Stormtroopers and within the grey helmets of standard Imperial Army soldiers were ordinary people, many of them conscripts plucked from the Core Worlds and cast into the maw of this all but impenetrable fortress planet. Alone, they might have surrendered, or tried to run for their lives. But though the Imperial propaganda they repeated sounded hollow to their ears when only their own voices spoke it, a strange thing happened when it came from ten thousand throats - all of the lies began to seem true.

And so, with those manufactured "truths" ringing in their ears, they began to do monstrous things.

--------------------------

LOCATION: City Gardens
"Bring up the mortars!" barked KY-963, whose orange right pauldron marked him as a sergeant. "Load incendiary shells!"

Soon after landing, 963's squad had been engaged by a substantial group of Atrisian partisans - more proof, as if any was needed, that every last civilian here was in league with the Lightsworn terrorists. Well, if they all wanted to immediately and conclusively prove themselves to be enemy combatants, that was fine with 963; they would be treated as such. After a brief firefight, several other stormtrooper squads had arrived to assist in pushing the militia back, trapping them in a stand of ornamental trees at the edge of the city gardens. Most of the enemy were wounded, but they were still firing back.

Well, that was just fine with 963. The beautiful pink blossoms of their improvised shelter meant nothing to him... and he was under explicit instructions to ensure that the locals suffered anyway. As far as he knew, that order was given because Atrisia was to be made an example for any others who would shelter insurgents against the Empire. Of course, the truth was far darker; above the battlefield waited an Emperor who hungered for souls twisted by pain and fear. But the reasons did not truly matter. 963 would follow his orders, and he would use the airdropped mortars his squad had received to do it.

"Burn them out," he ordered, pointing to the stand of trees - some centuries old.

"And if anyone tries to walk out of the inferno, shoot them in the legs and throw them back in."

Most Atrisian noncombatants had escaped the fighting, the old and the young whisked away into Smart Facility Modules that, through strange and powerful technology, hid them in some kind of liminal space. But not everyone had made it to their designated evacuation point, and a vast knot of civilians had been forced to take shelter in the circular theater house. The acoustics of the space were immaculate, carefully designed so that the voice of anyone on the central stage would perfectly carry to any of the tens of thousands of seats. Yet the only thing amplified now was a chorus of screams and sobs.

Captain Garo Ancif watched as the Atrisian defense forces - jumped up civilians who could only hold the line temporarily, and only because of their government-issue implants - fought desperately to keep his men back from the theater entrance. Tall and well-built, with a thick moustache and a bald head beneath his grey officer's cap, he had grown up on a farm on Sacorria. The Empire had taken him away from that life, given him an opportunity to see the galaxy and destroy the enemies of stability and obedience... but his solution to this problem came from his humble upbringing back home.

"Ready grenades," he barked, examining the theater's large windows through his macrobinoculars. Poor ventilation in that space, he mused. Just like the burrows of the farm vermin back home, and conducive to the same solution. "Gas grenades," he clarified, a cold smile twisting his lips. Why would he waste troops clearing the theater row by row when he could simply have his troops keep firing toxic grenades in through the windows? The Republic had tried to ban FEX-M3 nerve gas nearly a millennium ago, but the Empire ascribed to no such niceties. They used whatever means were effective.

The Emperor had instructed His troops to make the Atrisians suffer for their defiance.

A slow death by nerve gas would certainly meet His standards.

LOCATION: The Spire
NX-415 stared up at the Spire, the tower that... well, towered over the rest of Jar'Kai, and reminded himself to pray.

The entire strategy for capturing Jar'Kai - actually taking the city, rather than just punishing its population - hinged on securing the shield generators and docks housed within that massive structure... but besieging it would be a nightmare. The first stage, merely reaching it, would be difficult enough. Every street was choked with defenders, whether enlisted Atrisian civilians or one of their dozen different brands of special forces and war droids, whereas the Empire had limited ground troops and limited armaments. The creepy Otherspace portal troops could bring whatever they wanted...

But 415 and troopers like him had only what they could fit in a narrow Shrike-class drop pod.

"Prepare to move on my signal," he ordered. They needed to reach the base of the Spire before the enemy got too thoroughly dug in; there would be no helping that on the upper floors, but down at the base, they might be able to keep some momentum. "Smoke grenades, now!" The troopers around him obliged, priming and hurling their smoke grenades high in the air. It was the only way to give themselves some kind of cover as they charged across the open ground between the Spire and the rest of the city that surrounded it. Thick black smoke, blocking thermal and visual scanning, burst in the air.

"For the Emperor!" 415 roared, and charged. His comrades charged with him.

Sometimes strategy could only take you so far. You had to get the rest of the way on faith.

The DSD-Rellik erupted from hyperspace in a silent flash, its long grey hull moving near to the Galactic Alliances ship where Diarch Reign Diarch Reign was aboard. It had not come to defend Atrisia but rather support his brother. During the recent meetings with the Jedi Kyric, Jand, and senator Mykel the Diarch had made promises to help them. He had thought that this battle was to much of an ask, yet a Death Star in orbit was a threat too dire to ignore and an opportunity too ripe to waste. Better to strike at his enemies here, on a world not his to safeguard, than wait for their shadow to fall across Bastion. So with two reasons to be here the Co-Diarch was in full war engagement.

On the bridge, the Diarch stood with his apprentices: Lyssara Thrynn Lyssara Thrynn Kallous Kallous and Xian Xiao Xian Xiao

"Gather your strength," Rellik said, cloak brushing against the polished deck as he turned. "Today, you descend with me. These are not war games, steady yourselves, trust in our strength together, and do your best..." His words were pained as he hurried here or else he would not have brought them all. The threat of losing so many he cared about loomed over his head but he hoped his training had prepared each of them for the inevitable conflict. Most of all, he was worried to be bringing Xian Xiao Xian Xiao along. The young woman was not the same as Kallous and Lyssara who had both fought in previous wars with him.

As they walked they crossed the Armory. Rellik stopping and telling all of his apprentices to grab a set of LO-58A armor and a LO-22S Side Arm.

The hangar awaited them, a cavern alive with repulsor whine and shouted orders. LAAT/I Mk II dropships stood primed in neat rows, their angular forms painted in the black sigils of the Diarchy. Troopers cleared paths for the apprentices as they strode forward, boarding their craft beneath the Diarch's gaze. As they reached the craft they would be taking Rellik stopped Xian Xiao Xian Xiao with a hand on the shoulder. "You can stay aboard the ship if you wish. This will be... barbarous war. Unforgiving."

After giving her a second to reply he boarded.

The dropships launched into flak-choked skies, their hulls rattling under the strain of enemy fire. Rellik steadied his students with the Force, anchoring them in calm certainty even as the world tore itself apart below. "Do not shrink from it, rise to own it. This will be our canvas to mold."

Massive iron containers followed the destroyer's drop corridor, burning red trails into Atrisia's sky. When they struck, they would break streets open and disgorge the Vurskorr, Sithspawn abominations bred in shadow for war.

One container shook with a deeper roar. As its clamps detonated, a monstrous cry split the sky. Pyrrhax, his Adar mount, tore free in a storm of wings and fire-gold scales, heralding the Diarch's arrival with a predator's scream. As his ship landed the beast flew to his side. The Diarchy had arrived. The remaining drop ships containing DAF Infantry, a 10 man unit of RDB-01 Dra'khan Sentinel Droid's. Small logistics ships proceeded to drop 2 Trigonus M.I.S.S.M.E. Speeder Troop Transport for the DAF troopers and one Trigonus HART Tank.

The assault force landed at the southern edge that seemed to be fairly un-inhabited.

Through smoke and flame, the walls of Jar'Kai loomed. Already under siege, already bleeding. It was a fortress aflame.

Objective: Rescue some civillians

Kark. Chit. Kark some more. Shan had came to Atrisia to learn more in the way of healing. To help improve his understanding of the medical arts. And now everything had became a complete mess. For all intents and purposes, Shan was a civillian. He had taken a step back from his duties as a Jedi, to focus more on being a Doctor. But as some might say, you might be able to take a Man away from the Jedi, but you can't take the Jedi out of a Man.

And so that brought Shan to where he was now, having taken charge of a small group of civilians, that had slowly been growing in size as they moved through the streets, trying to evacuate to some point of safety. For the moment, they had stopped for Shan to check over them for injuries whilst crowded in a building to try and hide from any opposing forces. There was still that nagging voice in the back of Shan's head. The one that told him he should be out there, bringing the fight to the Galactic Empire troops instead of hiding away with a bunch of civilians...but he was doing what he did best. Shan was not a fighter. He was a supporter, a healer.

They couldn't keep wandering from place to place. It was clear, even to Shan who wasn't the greatest at paying attention to other people's emotions, that the civilians were scared. Fear could be a killer. If any of them tried to go their own way out of here, there was a chance they'd be slaughtered in the streets. Of all the days for Shan to have left his lightsaber at the memorial for Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor ...Today was one of the worst. It could have helped to inspire hope, or at least help to keep the fear at bay. He'd also have paid to have his Jedi armour in this moment...but he was just stuck in his doctor's jacket. Fine by him.

"Alright. That's it. I hope you're all ready to run. We'll be making our way towards the Temple of Healing. It'll be the safest place nearby for us. Keep your focus on where you're going. If anyone falters, don't worry. I'll get them back up. If you see any soldiers, tell me where and avoid them. Push comes to shove, you'll all have to make your way without me."

Of course that meant Shan was going to be bringing up the rear of the group to make sure no-one fell behind. Why did he always give himself the difficult jobs? The Mirialan checked over his blaster pistol for a moment, his only weapon apart from the Force, bashing it a few times over his leg to make sure it wasn't set to stun. As much as he liked to preserve life, there was cases like today where he couldn't stick to that ideal. Might be the only useful thing he ever got from his dad at the end of the day...

With black smoke on the horizon, Shan kicked the door open before having the civilians rush out to start moving north towards the Temple of Healing, whilst he stayed behind, making sure that every one of them got out. It was going to be a long run but hey. Nothing kicked your rear into action like the inevitable threat of death...right?

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
OBJECTIVE I: THE IMPERIAL MATCH
ATRISIA

"HURRY IT UP! KEEP IT MOVING!"

Ronhar shouted to the members of Reclaimer Squad as he ran past a TIE Walker that was firing furiously toward the sky. The Galactic Empire's invasion of Atrisia had caught the Imperial Remnant by surprise, and their forces had barely made it onto the planet before the main armada arrived, bringing with a staggering amount of enemy combatants. Ronhar didn't even want to think about the space battle going on above him at the moment, as he had more pressing matters to attend to.

The first matter being that fact that Galactic Alliance forces had fired upon Ronhar and his men no less than three times, undoubtably mistaking them for Empire forces. Normally, they would be well within their rights to take out Reclaimer Squad right then and there, but today was different, since the Imperial Remnant and the Galactic Alliance shared the same enemy in the Galactic Empire. Ronhar just hoped the IFF would kick in soon, as having to dodge both hostile Imperials and Alliance Soldiers was really starting to get on his nerves.

The second matter involved the forces that had been sent to Atrisia. As time was of the essence, the Imperial Remnant had decided to bring whatever they could get their hands on at the moment. TIE Walker's and AT-AAWs patrolled the streets in pairs, backed up by IAAT/Rs, IAAT/AAs and AT-MAPs. The Imperial Remnant had even managed to land a limited number of AT-SGs on the planet, though Ronhar was unsure how long they would last given their large target profile and value to the enemy.

In addition, the Imperial Remnant currently had thousands of Junktroopers and hundreds of Storm Commandos, ARC Troopers and Wookiee Troopers conducting operations all over the planet and the city. Much like Ronhar, they too had been plagued with friendly fire issues the moment they had arrived, and Ronhar worried that their unit strength would end up being eroded even before they ever got into combat with the enemy.

Which, of course, led to the third matter: the Empire's forces arriving on Atrisia en masse. Reports had indicated that Empire troopers were attempting to bypass the city's defenses via drop pod, though Ronhar was certain that enemy dropships would be arriving any minute now. As potent as the Imperial Remnant's air defenses were, Ronhar doubted that they would be sufficient to stop the enemy advance from reaching the city limits.

As Ronhar and his squad continued moving throughout the city streets, they passed an IAAT/AA blazing away into the distance, firing thousands at rounds at targets Ronhar couldn't even see yet. Hopefully they knew what they were doing, for it was quite possible that battle nerves had taken over the crew and that they were doing little more than wasting ammunition.

A mighty BOOM rumbled in the distance: the sound of a 40/T Planetary Defense Carriage firing its main turbolaser at the encroaching enemy Star Destroyers. Ronhar wondered just how many of those trains would be intact after the battle: if he had to guess, he didn't think it would be very many.

If anything, Ronhar was starting to feel little bit hopeless. Even with his allies, what could he hope to accomplish against his hated enemy and the massive invasion force they brought with them? Yet, Ronhar had no alternative but to press on, for the fate of his home planet and even the galaxy itself was at stake.

Ronhar would either successfully defend this planet and its inhabitants or die trying in the process…

LABOUR FOR THE EMPEROR AND THE CELESTIAL COURT
[...] With black smoke on the horizon, Shan kicked the door open before having the civilians rush out to start moving north towards the Temple of Healing, whilst he stayed behind, making sure that every one of them got out. It was going to be a long run but hey. Nothing kicked your rear into action like the inevitable threat of death...right?
Running through the desolate and ruined streets with his company of civilians, the energy of the environment surrounding the Knight was palpable. Every shrill, shriek and shout of pain was accompanied by a rising sense that something horrible was unfolding behind the scenes. It was as if under their feet, emanating from every crevice of molten asphalt and shattered tile – the planet's own soul was leaking out. A rather poetic way to describe the situation, fitting his next roadside encounter.

Shepherding the entourage forwards, every little hair on his body jumped up straight, as he caught a brief glimpse of what seemed to be another injured civilian. Doing, doing what? Throwing one box after the other towards the direction his group were fleeing from, sluggishly advancing while they were barely able to stand on their own feet themselves. Undoubtably, this charred figure, whose body was wrapped in a soot-blackened coat which in certain areas was torn and in others was molten against their skin, stuck out like a sore thumb in front of the raging flames consuming the buildings in the background. Not only because of its behaviour.

By virtue of his training, he could feel that it was force sensitive, and the force itself emanating from it, seeping out of their burnt and clogged pores was emblematic of suffering. It was a certain type of constrained vigour which felt as if it were a little trickle of water shooting out of a crack on a dam, pressurized to the point where it could cut steel. Set to continue advancing towards wherever it was going it paid no attention to the Knight and his fellowship, busy with its own death rattle, which assuredly was soon to come.

Now more than ever, it was time for him to get a move on and escape the rapture.

Through her short life, Xian had known one thing. She had wanted to learn how to fight. Not how to die, though. As she stood on the bridge with her Master and his other apprentices, some trepidation seeped into the girl. Then it drifted away, and her desire returned. Who better to fight next to than the people who helped and supported her? At this time, she didn't want to be anywhere else and would be a part of this grand spectacle.

Listening and watching, Xian took his words of advice to heart. Something might be noticed...she wasn't afraid. Perhaps that would change as the story unfolded, but right now she was calm and oddly confident. Drawing in a breath through her nose, she let out a sigh and followed Rellik.

Picking up the armour and gun, she wrinkled her nose but slipped the protection on over her clothes. When he stopped near her and placed his hand on her shoulder, she looked at that hand and then up at him. She hadn't yet put her helmet on, and she would see the determination on her face.

"This is my ancestral home. I have to be here for her."

For one of the first times in her life, she spoke of her past. It was something that happened so rarely. This planet below them had driven her family away, but she was back to help it. Why? Even she didn't know for sure. Maybe that Jedi she could have been was showing.

Hearing him speak in terms of art, it was an aspect the teen understood. She was an artist even if nobody on the ship knew. When they got back to Bastion, she felt that she would need to draw some pictures.

Their ship touched down, stirring up additional dust. The filters of the helmet kept all of that at bay. Feeling the crunch of the leaves and dirt under her shoes, she glanced at the ground. Once again, she was walking on ground she hadn't been on for several years. Breathing calmly, she gathered with everybody and waited for instructions.

Atrisia. It was a planet that Vulpesen had walked before. It was the home of one of his greatest friends and oldest allies. It was that very connection that made the ground he walked on sacred to his people. Veradune, when he had found it, was a backwater colony for bandits and salvers. It was little more than a mix between a nature retreat and a poor man’s Nar Shadaa. With the aid of Alexandra Feanor Alexandra Feanor , he had freed his people from that terrible oppression, but he had been too late. The population had been more than decimated. It had nearly been eradicated. The one proud Zorren people had been reduced to a few scattered thousand through the galaxy, hiding and waiting for the day when they would be saved. When that day came, the planet was filled with empty houses and silent halls.

Then, the netherworld had ripped open, dragging half of its citizens into the depths of the afterlife. Among those people had been the woman that Vulpesen had thought he was going to marry. To find her, he ripped the veil asunder, and in doing so, linked himself to it with a certainty that persisted to even the present moment. He had become a living compass to the doors of the damned. Where some saw chaos and tragedy, Vulpesen had found opportunity.

Matsu Ike Matsu Ike had granted him the power to make something of that opportunity. Her collection of artifacts and latent power had given him the juice he needed to pull off the impossible. After walking his people out from the Netherworld and to its gates, he needed power to turn their spectral bodies into something physical. Matsu was perhaps the chief source of that. She and her collection had acted like batteries to allow the Valde to bring his people back without burning himself out of existence.
The Miracle Initiative, as he had called it, had been almost fifty years ago. Veradune had recovered, but it had never forgotten. Matsu’s Order was the only one that had earned the people’s trust enough to allow a Jedi temple upon Veradune’s surface. They owed her a debt. Not one of money or favors, but one with their very lives. Families had been returned from dust, houses were reconstructed, and second chances abounded. Veradune had a debt to pay.

“Atrisia came to us at the eleventh hour of our darkest night! They brought us back and gave us life! Today we repay that favor! Today we stand at their side! We are the bulwark! We are Veradune!” The cry that arose from his words was deafening. Men and women who now marched from the halls of death, greeting it, perhaps, for the second time. Vulpesen was a colonel within the Galactic Alliance’s Defense Forces. But today, he was something more. He was the Valde. He led his people and when he felt the disturbance in the force, he had been quick to gather all he could. When he got word that the Empire had intended to destroy Atrisia, he opened the call up to every Zorren who wished to answer.

It had been unanimous. The VSF armory was depleted and some marched with vibroblades and hunting blasters. Some bore snarls and claws. Wilders left their groves and prepared beasts and the elements to break the enemy. From the Silver Jedi temple, a steady stream of golden eyed warriors flowed like a rushing river to defend the planet and repel the invaders. To describe Veradune as an armed populace was an understatement. The average Zorren did not prepare for the possibility of war, but its inevitability.
