- You are Doomed: The Grievous-class is a powerful ship all around, with powerful weapons that have the potential to stand up against mainline ships of other fleets.
- Our Defense is Impenetrable: The Grievous-class is designed to be the backbone of any fleet, and as such is extremely defensive in nature. A good portion of its defenses are dedicated to a variety of point-defense technologies to make up for its small fighter complement, and with powerful shielding, electronic countermeasures, jammers, and strong hull materials the Grievous-class can certainly take a beating. In addition, a coating of anti-sensor bandorium on the Grievous-class's hull makes it harder for scanners and sensors to lock on, especially at longer ranges, although it is nowhere near potent enough to fully obstruct any kind of sensor.
- Automated and Efficient: A significant advantage that the Grievous-class presents is its highly streamlined and automated function. The Grievous is designed to function with a base crew of around one-hundred sentient individuals, and the rest of its systems are completely automated and overseen by SAMS, a semi-intelligent automation protocol. In addition to that, much of the standard systems of the Grievous have been improved from conventional standards, with technologies such as automated combustion prevention and a streamlined ammunition reloading system making the overall operation of the Grievous-class as efficient as possible.
- Slow Ship: In spite of its high defense and offensive capabilities, the Grievous-class is not a very fast or maneuverable ship. While in many situations it's pure damage output can compensate for this quality, its overall poor movement capabilities can become a detriment to naval commanders.
- Weapon Angles: The placement of the various firing arcs of the Grievous-class's armamements result in several 'blind spots,' the most notable being directly behind the aft engines of the Star Destroyer.
- Not a Carrier: Similarly to its poor speed, the Grievous-class does not have much hangar space for commanders to work with owing to the fact that the star destroyer is designed to be primarily an anti-capital starship. Thus, its small fighter complement can prove difficult for strategists and often requires an escort of carrier-oriented ships for commanders who wish to use a fighter-based strategy in their fleet composition.
General Grievous was one of the most legendary figures in Confederacy history; a brilliant strategist, a feared military leader and commander of the droid army, Grievous inspired terror and awe across the galaxy as he conquered thousands of worlds under the flag of the Confederacy. No other figure is quite as fabled in the history of the CIS, nor has any being been able to match the almost mythical might projected by the famed warrior. As such, the Grievous-class Star Destroyer is designed to, like its namesake, project the military might of the Confederacy to the galaxy.
Replacing the aging Valiant line of Star Destroyer as the Confederacy Defense Force's mainline Star Destroyer, the Grievous-class is Roble Manufacturing's first military contract with the Confederacy. Including all of the modern technologies developed by the Fondor-headquartered company, the Grievous-class is as much a showcase of the starshipwright skill of Roble Manufacturing as it is a Confederacy mainline starship.
The Grievous-class is designed around the ushering in of a new era of warfare, and the Star Destroyer is centered around one primary and distinguishing factor; that of automation, where the standard crew of thousands that is so commonplace with similar ships of its size is shrunk down to just over one-hundred with the Grievous-class. SAMS, an automation management protocol designed to artificially oversee the many machines that replace the menial tasks that are normally delegated to an organic crew, is the primary factor behind this increase of efficiency within the Grievous-class. The small crew of over one hundred is focused primarily around specialist or command roles, and greatly increases the number of star destroyers that logistically can be manufactured and fielded, as well as eliminating hazardous roles such as reactor maintenance or weapons operating, tasks that introduced fatal disease or high chances of death. All of this is virtually non-existent within the Grievous-class. In addition to that, systems such as the GERS-01 Ammunition Reloading System which makes the process of reloading laser weapons as efficient as possible, and the FES-HRE18 Fire Suppression System that functions as an instant-reaction, fully automated maintenance system helps make the overall performance of the ship in combat highly efficient and automated.
As the mainline star destroyer of the Defense Force, the Grievous-class is centered around having high offensive capabilities that can deal massive amounts of damage against imposing fleets. The RMMD-M5 Mass Driver cannon highlights the Grievous-class's armament, with the ability to fire 320mm armor-piercing and high-explosive shells at speeds so incredibly fast that they can do extreme damage against an enemy ship. It's quad-turbolasers, heavy turbolasers, and light-turbolasers all feature power generation efficiency and an increased damage output thanks to sybarium crystal generators. It's LS1 Hailfire Missile Launchers are also designed to stream damage against its opponents, and its ability to be outfitted with any type of missile allows for greater strategic flexibility.
The Grievous-class also has a very high defensive nature, with the motto behind this balance being that as a frontline warship the Grievous should be able to take whatever its enemy can throw out it. The comprehensive MRS-01 Eir Defense System best represents this ideology, allowing for the ship to project not only every conceivable shielding technology but also introducing a polarizing field that dissipates incoming laser and ion technology and a magnetic field that disrupts particle weapons and slows the impact speed of projectiles, lessening the damage taken on by the ship's hull. In addition to that, the Grievous features a state-of-the-art point-defense system to make up for its lackluster fighter complement. The quad-barreled, fast-firing RMAF-M2 point-defense cannons can fill the surrounding space with anti-fighter lasers while LS2 Valentine point-defense octets and LS3 Armato ventral missile cannons use a variety of point-defense missiles to efficiently eliminate fighter targets. Roble Manufacturing's RAMM-M3 Tactical Ordnance Jammer also works to protect the Grievous from ranged weapons by the means of scrambling jammers and repelling missiles with inbuild-trackers. An AR-0B Damage Reduction Component generates an ablative energy current throughout the ship's hull, which in it of itself is very strong with layers of three individual alloys to reduce hull damage. Finally, Locke and Key's Loki EWAR System protects the Grievous from communications sabotage and electronic warfare.
The Grievous-class is not only about its offenses and defenses and includes more shiny bells and whistles that make it a next-generation model of a warship. While the ship itself is not very fast or maneuverable, next-generation sublight propulsion systems still allow the Grievous some degree of mobility. It's Meili hyperdrive gives it the capability to make repeated, precise microjumps that also present itself as a strategic bypass to its slow movement speeds, and the NAV-RH1 Interdiction Countermeasures Package automatically pulls the Grievous class out of hyperspace to avoid any artificial gravity wells, preventing the warship from being trapped and incapacitated by interdictor fields. Next-generation communication and sensor systems, including the Saja-class Sensor Array and the Tyr Tactical Command Network make scanning and communication fast and secure, increasing the coordination between the Grievous-class and other ships within a fleet.
Overall, the Grievous-class is designed to be a warship unparalleled by any other design in the galaxy and to be the ambassador of the Confederacy's strength and military might. It's advanced armament and defenses allow it to take damage and dish it back out tenfold, while its automation makes it cheap to produce and allows for the Confederacy to logistically field thousands more than conventional ships. A Star Destroyer that will be listed among others in the halls of naval infamy, the Grievous-class is a model that will usher the Confederacy Defense Force into a new era of naval might and tactical superiority.
