STRENGTHS
Turn it Down: Unlike most hull materials, Durasteel-421S is created with Kinetic and Sonic weapon technology in mind. The distribution of electrons/neutrons and cushioning of polymeric vinyl layers allows for kinetic and sonic damage to be absorbed by the alloy and redistributed among a larger area, lessening the overall damage to one specific point.
Hard Nut to Crack: Durasteel-421S is resistant to all conventional forms of anti-capital damage (except for Ion weaponry), and is resistant to space hazards as well (micrometeors, asteroids, etc.)
Redistribution: Durasteel-421S is designed to absorb and redistribute Kinetic and Sonic damage inflicted on this. While this works to lessen damage to vital spots or weak points, if a ship is overwhelmed significantly by damage from Kinetic and Sonic weaponry the alloy will become weaker in resistance to those effects.
Not Electronic Friendly: Durasteel 421S has very little resistant to Ion or EMP forms of weaponry
DESCRIPTION
Durasteel-421S was created by Roble Manufacturing to be a niche material used in starship construction that would be especially resistant to Kinetic and Sonic forms of damage. While the latter was more uncommon in conventional warfare, constantly evolving technologies were estimated to be a real threat to the ship production of Roble Manufacturing, and thus an alternative alloy designed to protect against Kinetic and Sonic blasts was created in order to counter those types of weapon technology. While Durasteel-421S is primarily produced as a material for ship hulls, it can be put to use for other designs that use Durasteel.
