POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Storm Lounge: As a sort of testament to High Marshal Brayde’s affinity for drinks and games, the Sky-High Lounge is a state of the art casino with various games laid throughout the finely carpeted room. A bar with a high-stock of practically any drink that one could desire complements the lounge, making it the perfect place for battle-weary crew and soldiers to relax in between the fighting. The lounge also includes a Casino, with military-standard versions of sabaac and other common cards and gambling games found there. Even more uniquely, defense force regulations are overlooked at the Casino, allowing crewmen to spend their time (and credits) as they see fit on long voyages.
  • Command Bridge: Large and spacious, the Command Bridge is split into two sections; the fore and aft. The fore features the two standard command pits housing Astrogation, Comm-Scan, Gunnery, Flight Command, and a one-hundred-eighty degree transparisteel window for visuals. The aft houses Comm-Scan and Flight Command as well as an active battle-management system, using the Storm King’s sensors to construct a real-time holographic display of the surrounding battle and direct communications to either individual fleet ships or entire sections of a fleet.
  • Barracks and Training: The Storm King is able to ferry an entire legion of Dauntless Marines aboard the Star Dreadnought, and has enough barracks to comfortably house marines stationed on the ship. The Storm King also features ample training rooms to keep Marines in peak physical condition.
STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Might of a Hurricane: The Storm King has an extreme offensive output. The ship carries 13 superheavy weapons; one massive AT-19K Thandarian Mass Accelerator Cannon, four RMSD-M11 Solar Ionization Batteries, and eight RMAD-M12 Dual Orbital Autocannons. Each weapon has the capability to inflict massive amounts of damage on capital-sized ships, with the Thandarian alone able to shatter entire flotillas used correctly. In addition to those superheavy weapons, the Storm King has a number of smaller capital-grade weapons that on their own are a potent force to fight against.
  • Weather the Storm: The Storm King has extremely high defenses; a triple-tier hull plating that also includes a coating of Impervium alloy serves as the base structural defense of the ship, as well as an AR-0B damage reduction component that serves the same measure. In addition to that, an MRS-01 Eir Defensive System, a comprehensive shield system that is able to provide protection from nearly any sort of conventional or unconventional weaponry. An MXC-T21 Alviss Electronic Countermeasures package that is designed to protect the Storm King from electronic and communications sabotage, while a RAAM-M3 Tactical Ordnance Jammer has the ability to make it harder than usual to lock on and successfully hit the massive dreadnaught. That doesn’t include the ship's defensive weaponry, as the Storm King has a wide variety of point-defense cannons and launchers with the capability to defend the star dreadnaught against small fighter craft.
  • Wrath of the Tempest: The Storm King is outfitted with a unique experimental mass acceleration cannon; the ATX-19K Thandarian Mass Accelerator, a weapon designed to shoot extremely dense neuranium rods at extremely fast speeds, with the capability of doing incredible amounts of damage against enemy ships and fleets.
  • Hangars of Hail: With a complement of fighters and support craft that is larger than even the supercarriers of the Confederacy, the Storm King is able to boast a sizeable offensive and defensive advantage thanks to its large hangar capacity.
WEAKNESSES
  • Large Target: The Storm King is an extremely large ship, with poor speed and maneuverability. This makes the star dreadnought an obvious target, and more often than not will be the focus of enemy engagement.
  • Cannon Imprecision: Although destructive, the ATX-19K Thandarian requires moving the ship to aim it, meaning it takes a while to accurately aim the weapon and makes it hard to hit small, fast-moving targets.
  • Slumbering Giant: The size of the Storm King makes it hard for the star dreadnought to effectively accelerate, decelerate, or maneuver even in a zero-gravity environment such as space.
  • Massive Weapons: The Storm King has twelve supermassive cannons, the RMSD-M11 Solar Ionization Cannons, and RMAD-M12 Dual Orbital Autocannons. While these have the potential to do large amounts of damage, their size makes them obvious targets for opposing forces and limits the cannons to be effective only at targeting ships that are the size of cruisers and up.
DESCRIPTION
Ours is the Fury.

The Confederacy has long stood as a bastion of peace, prosperity, and power in a galaxy otherwise devoid of it. It brings peace through order, prosperity through bringing more planets into its fold, and power by defending its borders from the countless beings in the galaxy who would rather see Chaos reign. The Confederate Defense Force has been the primary defender against those who would challenge the Confederacy and the planets under her protection.

High Marshal Kiff Brayde is many things; he’s a commander, a strategist, a scoundrel, depending on who you ask. But no matter what, one thing is the truth: Kiff Brayde knows war. From the burning skies of Eshan to Tanaab, the High Marshal has served aboard a number of ships, fighting through the tempest to defend the Confederacy. His nation. His home. Kiff’s valiant service, and perhaps some of his unorthodox tactics as well, are the reason that he now commands the entirety of a Sector Armada.

As a part of the modernization efforts for the Confederacy, each Sector Armada was designated at least one ship of the Star Dreadnaught class to become the armada’s primary flagship. Known for their size and destructive power, it is rare to see a dreadnought fielded, and even rarer for one to stand at its helm. The CNS Storm King serves as the flagship of the Bassadro Sector Armada and personal command ship of its High Marshal, Kiff Brayde. It is built to weather whatever hurricane is thrown out it, to be the bane of any who try to attack the Confederacy.

As much as the star dreadnought is the flagship of the Bassadro Sector Armada, it is also the personal ship under command of the armada’s High Marshal, Kiff Brayde; as such, the Storm King is designed to conform to the unique and slightly unorthodox approach that Kiff tends to take with things. The star dreadnought is able to perform a variety of roles in fleet combat; ferry a large amount of small craft into combat, soak up a large amount of damage from opposing forces and deal out extreme amounts of damage in retaliation.

Christened the Storm King because of its ability to weather any storm, metaphorical or literal, the most obvious of its strengths is the overwhelming armament that the dreadnought boasts, crowned by the ATX-19K Thandarian Mass Accelerator Cannon. The supermassive weapon is able to accelerate extremely dense neuranium rods at very fast speeds, with the capacity to do not only a massive amount of damage to a target but to nearby ships as well due to the effect of the uranium rod splintering on impact, potentially hitting other ships in the process.

The mass accelerator cannon is the dreadnoughts most powerful weapon, but not its only powerful weapon. In addition to that, the Storm King has four massive RMSD-M11 Solar Ionization cannons, both over 800 meters in length, and eight extremely large RMSD-M12 Dual Orbital Autocannons. All twelve of them have the capacity to do extreme amounts of damage towards enemy targets, although their size and firing power limits their destructive power to larger capital ships. However, the Storm King has thousands of smaller emplacements that are used to deal with any sort of enemy that would dare test it’s offensive might.

The Storm King is built to take as much damage as it deals out, with a hull constructed of three different metal layers -- duranium, Durasteel 421-A, and Durasteel 421-S -- with a layer of Impervium hull coating on top of that, meaning that the structure of the star dreadnought is extremely hard to pierce even if its shields are down. It also has a layer of liquid-aenite mineral compound, built to protect against EMP and Ion damage, as well as anti-sensor bandorium coating and agrinium radiation insulation. An AR-0B damage reduction component also allows the hull of the dreadnought to absorb more damage and shores up the structural integrity of the ship. Safe to say, the basic construction of the Storm King is extremely strong and hard to dent.

Of course, the hull of the Storm King is not the only defense that the star dreadnought has to offer. An MRS-01 Eir Defense System provides nearly every type of shielding for the star dreadnought to defend against energy, and to an extent kinetic weapons. An MXC-T21 Alviss Electronic Countermeasures Package protects the ship from any electronic means of infiltration or sabotage, while a RAAM-M3 Tactical Ordnance Jammer actively jams enemy systems and ordnance directed against the Storm King. The star dreadnought also has a wide array of point-defense armaments, with fast-firing laser cannons, flak cannons, and point-defense missile launchers. Overall, the Storm King’s defenses allow it to duel with any fleet and come out virtually unscathed.

The Storm King has a very large hangar capacity, one that is nearly double of the famous Lucrehulk III Supercarriers that the Confederacy fields. This large complement gives the Storm King an offensive and defensive advantage, able to use the fighters and bombers stored to attack enemy ships or similarily to defend. In addition, the Storm King is able to ferry an entire legion of Dauntless Marines, meaning that it can help with land engagements as well.

Built to match it’s sometimes-crazy High Marshal, the Storm King has one feature that is rarely found on ships of its class -- or any military ship, for that matter. The star dreadnought has a complete bar, lounge, and casino aptly named the Storm Lounge for the ship that it is aboard. Located aboard the ship is also enough barracks to comfortably lodge the marines stationed aboard the ship, as well as training rooms to keep marines in peak physical condition.

The Storm King is built not only to weather the tempest but to master the Storm. It is the flagship of Kiff Brayde, meant to bring a hurricane down on all those who would dare challenge the Confederacy. It is the might of the Confederacy.

It is the fury of Kiff Brayde.
