GA DOMINION OF SELVARIS

div-goldiguess.png
Once the launchpoint of invasion into the core by the Brotherhood of the Maw, Slevaris now lies in shambles. Its people have been rendered homeless, crowded into refugee camps, and its wildlands still churn with the twisted darkside creations that their oppressors left behind. Now, as the remnants of civilization on the planet attempt to cobble themselves back together, they turn and cry out for a return to the Galactic Alliance. With aid on the way, Jedi and Diplomat alike set out to answer their call….

CLANK IN THE NIGHT (NJO/GADF)

fourE.png

While efforts have been made to clear Selvaris of darkside influence, their zombified creations still linger deep into the planet’s jungles. Rumors of a new breed of technobeast have begun to surface, prompting an expedition into the wilderness led by the New Jedi Order with aid from the Galactic Alliance Defense Force to rid the planet of its affliction once and for all….

BINDING OLD WOUNDS (NJO/Volunteers)

two.png

Selvaris’s people, even after their liberation from the Brotherhood of the Maw, are struggling to put their communities back together. The harsh jungle and damaged infrastructure alongside the lingering presence of darkside sickness has forced many to crowd into various refugee camps across the planet. The New Jedi Order’s relief unit and countless other volunteers, backed by various charitable representatives in the Senate, set off to link up with these civilians in the hopes of providing crucial supplies.

NJO COUNCIL

The New Jedi Order’s standing council have gathered to discuss the important matter of continuing forward with the new threats of the Sith Order and the crusaders of the Mandalorian Enclave. Kassogtha Cthylla Kassogtha Cthylla has been called into the Council chamber to learn what it is her role will be onward from this point.

This wasn’t what anyone would call a vacation, but getting off of Coruscant was always a welcome thing. The sheer population density of the ecumenopolis wasn’t the strain it had been when she was a fresh-faced padawan, true, but being the massive emotional landscape that it was made for what could still be at least a rather mild irritation.

Ichika hadn’t set foot in any of the former systems of the Maw without higher level university students in tow, or her own former padawan, since some time after the end of the war, but traversing such domains in those days had played a part in driving her onto the path she now walked; the vast majority of her work could still be traced back to the effects of that past war, even this far from its end, as the reports she received bore that out.

This was a slow work, healing broad sectors of the galaxy. Slow, but nonetheless crucial, and her part in it was long-term. And that was why she was here, gaining a more tangible sense of where things stood, while being faced with what more would come. She was no seer, but you didn’t need to be one of those mystics to divine the effects in the future when it came to conflict. It was already happening, with the influx of refugees on Alderaan and otherwise.

It was a headache the half-Zeltron Master welcomed in and made her companion as the waves swelled and crashed against the long peace they had been enjoying. And as Ichika stood with her arms loosely folded about her chest, looking out across this one of countless camps dotting the surface of Selvaris with what might have been a thousand-yard-stare, her mouth a line, she couldn’t help but wonder what it would cost her this time.

What it would cost them all.

Loomi was nervous. She was always nervous, so this wasn't really a surprise. Today was a little different, however, as the young Godoan found herself with a wave of determination flowing through her. There were people on Selvaris that needed supplies, individuals who had been cut off ever since the fall of the Maw. That was a long time for people to be on their own with no support on a war-torn planet. She was very eager to help, so whenever their supply shuttle landed after being launched from the Dawnbreaker she quickly scooped up a box of supplies and set off into the...

Camp...

It was a mess, filled with hobbled together tents made of tarps and pallets. There was a sadness in the air, a tiredness of a people who had been forced to fend for themselves for the last twenty years, still struggling to rebuild. It was overwhelming. How were they supposed to help all of these people? Would supplies be enough to keep them going?

The Godoan was far too enthralled with her surroundings that she failed to notice an individual in front of her, whom she ran into box-first. Loomi maintained her grip and kept her balance as she stumbled back, her face flushing red with embarrassment.

She'd lost her focus again.

"G-golly, I'm sorry," she quickly apologized, dipping her head. "I-I just wasn't paying attention."

A great start to her day.

Selvaris...

Elias held back the shudder that threatened to jolt down his spine. The Dark Side was practically swirling around them, dampening the atmosphere as they tramped through the jungle. It had long been so that dangerous creatures lurked in the underbrush, making life treacherous for the native Selvarins who called this former-Maw world their home. But rumors of a new darkness were spreading like jungle fever. Amalgams of flesh and cybernetics, twisted into painful beings full of wrath and indiscriminate hatred, were stalking the land.

Where they came from and what they were up to was unknown. But they had to be stopped, nevertheless.

Elias looked to a pair of GADF troopers who stepped through the muck. They seemed a bit green, but he was sure they could hold their own out here. He had faith in the Alliance's finest.

"Got anything on the scanners?"

The recon trooper shook his head.

"Nothing out of the ordinary, Master."

"I've got a bad feeling about this," the other added.

"I do too," Elias said. "I do too..."

Cailen wrapped his hand around the kyber pendant strung around his neck, tracing the mended crack with his thumb as he followed Ichika Masudo Ichika Masudo through the camp. She was quiet, an eerie spectator that watched with calculating eyes as the people made about their business... whatever 'business' was on a jungle planet plagued by darkness.

"Watch it, kid!" a man spat as he stepped by, bumping into the Padawan before walking away backwards with his arms outstretched. He couldn't help but think it was deliberate. Before Cailen could apologize, the man was gone, lost in the sea of people. Despite the size of the camp, there were so many faces. They all seemed so downtrodden.

"Master Masudo?" he asked, his head canted to the side. "Where should we start?"

Clank in the Night
Benzir Base - Several Weeks Prior

Selvaris had long been a world that had attracted the attention of the Sith. The Vongforming that had occurred on it in the distant past had turned the world into a place that reflected a core part of the Sith philosophies; The strong would survive, the weak would perish. It had partially been that philosophy that brough the world to the attention of the One Sith Empire and its Wrath. The Sith Lord known as Reverance had once overseen the planet as the Warmaster of the Legion Yun'do, key allies and soldiers of that generation of Sith. Under the Wrath, the planet's Vongforming had accelerated until it had become the primary base of the Yuuzhan Vong

That was until the One Sith Empire began to collapse under internal struggles and attacks from the first iteration of the Galactic Alliance. The Wrath had decided that for the Vong to emerge stronger from such a collapse, Selvaris needed to be equally purged. In a day of fire and destruction, the world had experienced significant upheaval induced by the Wrath and his most zealous followers, bathing the jungles in fire and superheated ash. When the cataclysm ended, Selvaris was a ruined world...

But there were still survivors and parts of the planet, Vongformed as they were, that had remained untouched. Vong survivors, those that lived through the eruptions, began trying to repair their world even as settlers from other worlds came. The Vong survivors had been too few in numbers at that point to resist and retreated deeper into the jungles, content to let their creations deal with any outsiders that strayed too close to their territory while they rebuilt.

Slowly, they began to regain strength, to grow in numbers... but the invasion by the Brotherhood of the Maw changed everything. The Maw swept in and subjugated everything, attempting to obtain the research data and wipe out the outposts the second Galactic Alliance had placed on the planet for studying the Vong lifeforms and the terraforming. The two battles that took place for the planet drove the surviving Vong underground, even as their creations were co-opted by the invaders and settlers were reduced to flesh-eating monsters.

For these Yuuzhan Vong, the survivors of the Night of Fire and these battles, it was merely another challenge that they believed the Wrath set before them. Deliverance would come soon, they thought, all they needed to do was embrace the pain and suffering and strife they faced, and they would be rewarded for their loyalty.

Rewarded they were as two Sith Lords of the old One Sith had turned their gaze towards reclaiming lost resources for the coming storm. Selvaris, due to its past importance, was one such location that drew their attention. A base, jointly operated by the two Sith and their power bases, was established and the Vong received a message through old vilips... the Sith had returned for them, their test was over.

Benzir Base - Present

For weeks now, Benzir Base, a temporary base camp deep in the jungle near one of the volcanoes released by the Wrath's final act, had been a flurry of activity as supplies were brought in for experimenting and transports took recovered Vong warriors and shapers back to Dromund Kaas. The leftover Maw creations, the scattered pockets of survivors from the Maw occupation, and the volunteers among these fanatical Vong had meant Project Mekhis had also become involved, even as the primary goal was to recover Vong biotech and other artifacts left behind from the One Sith.

"Adept Lumilla, we're getting some activity in sector 4," a Blackblade guardsmen reported to the Sith Adept placed in charge of the operation by Darth Arcanix and Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex . "Galactic Alliance ships have arrived in system, and we have pings from ships entering atmosphere already."

Lumilla was twisting one of her many head tendrils through her fingers as she looked over the display. The Alliance was early, but no doubt pleas from the remaining settlers had brought them here along with the reports those survivors had likely given them. The operation had already been a success, it was time to cut their losses.

"Begin evacuation procedures and inform all roving hunter-killer units to shift into a delaying stance while slowly moving back towards base. They will be the last onto the transports. Prepare all defenses if the Alliance reach the base before we have finished."

In the jungles, teams of the newly purposeful Vong had been testing themselves against the Maw leftovers and the settlers they encountered, under the watchful eye of several Blackblades and a Ravenscar Adept. It would be these teams that the Alliance would lieky encounter first as they hunted the rumors of technobeasts and cleaned up the Maw zombies that had been such convenient targets.

Commander Kailani Fostu of the GA Task Force 24 stood from his chair as the Peacemaker, a Bothan Assault Cruiser, exited hyperspace above Selvaris. He clasped his hands behind his back as he motioned for the comm officer to begin recording his broadcast. "All Selvaris refugees, this is Commander Kailani Fostu of the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet. We will be sending shuttles down to several major refugee camps. Please do not crowd the shuttles. More are on the way."
The officer ended the transmission and Kailani watched as ten shuttles, each capable of carrying 40 people (maybe 50 if the refugees didn't need breathing room), passed in front of the Peacemaker's narrow bow, descending to the orb below that was Selvaris. He sighed. He could only hope that this operation turned out well.
He looked out the portside of the window, where a GA medical frigate was waiting to take in the refugees. It certainly wasn't enough, but it would have to do until GA reinforcements arrived. If reinforcements arrived.

The last few days had been a whirl for Jonyna. Learning what exactly a 'technobeast' was, and how to fight it. Lucky for her, holocrons made for easy cramming. But now her ship landed on Selvaris, a planet she was unfamiliar with, but the promise of jungles was at least comfort for her. She could work with jungles. Hooking up with Elias Edo Elias Edo allowed her some familiar faces as well. She'd do as she did on her last mission, watch from above as she navigated the canopy.

But this time, she wasn't alone. Her bot, D1-C3, trotted along with the troopers and the master of the Force below.

"Got anything on the scanners?"

<<I can perhaps relay the Reaper's scanners to scan for inorganic matter! Our ship has been recently upgraded for scouting purposes such as this!>>

"I like being prepared." Jonyna notes from above. "...it does smell weird up here. Like, not good weird. Something nearby is....rotting."

The Council was growing.

It wasn't often that new additions were made to the Council, but Valery felt that the governing body of the NJO was slowly making a lot of progress in recent years. Every Jedi around her has played a crucial role in the growth of younger Jedi, the direction of the Order, and each one has been reliable as someone the Jedi could look up to. Today, they were adding adding someone new to the Council who would hopefully bring another fresh perspective, while she'd lead the librarians and lorekeepers of the Order.

"Welcome, Master Cthylla," Valery said with a dip of her head from within her seat. Having only seen her a handful times before, she still had to get used to her rather unique appearance, but exterior mattered little when she had demonstrated to be a good Jedi, capable of helping lead the Order.

"As I'm sure you've gathered by now, we are looking at adding you to the Council, but not all of us know you as well as we'd like. So my idea was that we'd open the floor to ask you some questions, and give you a chance to ask us anything as well." She looked at the other Masters for a moment.

"Who would like to start us off with a question?"

Old scars. They were trials carved into his flesh. Master San Tekka heard the whispers. Artificial organs. Steel arm with a Jedi crest etched in electrum. Some of the padawans believed he was more machine than man. When he gazed out at Coruscant Zark saw in his own reflection the years catching up with him. Moments like this when the Council gathered to contemplate the Force's mysteries reminded him of brighter days.

"Master Cthylla," he bowed his head.

"You were trained on Kashyyyk. Tell us about your master. Another scholar?"

His expression remained serene. Zark could sense the good in Kassogtha. Eyes deceive so he didn't trust them. Instead the elder Jedi Master listened to the Force. Her potential futures echoed like permutations in a kyber lattice.

FINAL DAWN
SELVARIS, WILD SPACE

Grand O'reenian Palace

Joseph Torson walked up infront of the doors leading into Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen 's Office which was guarded by a pair of Elite Raptor Commandos. "Halt. Identify yourself" one of the Raptors said out loud. "Captain Torson, Hand of Judgement, COMPPOR. I have an appointment with the High Regent." Torson said. "You may pass Captain." the Raptor said upon verifying Torson's identity. As Torson walked through the hallway leading into the High Regent's Office he passed by a few additional Commandos, lined up along the walls, standing motionless as they stood guard, offering further protection to the High Regent. Eventually, Torson reached the end of the hallway, passing through another door which lead straight into the High Regent's Office.

"You've been expecting me, sir?" Torson as he clasped his hands behind his back while he stood Infront of the High Regent's desk. "Yes, Captain." Sularen said. "There have been reports of some sort of new breed of Sithspawn roaming across Selvaris" He began. "Are you sure those aren't Mawite Sithspawn? And why does this concern us?" Torson inquired. "Apparently these new Sithspawn have been supposedly attacking indiscriminately, targeting both Refugee Camps and Mawite Holdouts alike." Sularen added. "Some of our remaining contacts on Selvaris have begun to go dark, with little explanation behind their disappearance, as our intel indicates that there hasn't been any large-scale operation conducted by the GA to clear out such holdouts on Selvaris."

"I assume you want me to investigate the matter, right" Torson further asked. "Yes, according to our intel, the Alliance has begun moving in on Selvaris en-masse, most likely to bring it back to the fold. They have also begun carrying out an investigation on these Sithspawn Rumors. I want you to head to Selvaris and extract our remaining contacts as well as to investigate these Sithspawn Rumors yourself. If the Rumors end up being true then i want you to bring back some DNA Samples for future research." Sularen ordered. "I have arranged for a portion of the
Red Right Hand to assist you with this task along with a Stealth Ship in order to allow you to slip past any Naval Forces the Alliance might have brought to Selvaris, both of them are waiting for you within the Sanctum. Any questions?"

"No sir." Torson responded. "Good, you're dismissed." the High Regent said. As Torson left his office, he proceeded to shift his attention to his aide Colonel Rackham, who had be standing beside him as he spoke with Torson. "Colonel?" Sularen began, seeking to gain his aide's attention. "Yes sir?" Rackham responded, in his usual calm and emotionless tone. "Begin making preparations for Project Peacebreaker. I want all of our Peacebreaker contacts summoned to Najra-Va as soon as possible in order to make our preliminary moves." Sularen ordered. "Yes sir." Rackham said before proceeding to leave the room too, leaving the High Regent to conduct his business as usual.

Present Hour
Selvaris Orbit

The FDS Revenant emerged from hyperspace arriving outside of Selvaris's gravity well far away from the range of the sensors of any GADF Vessel stationed above Selvaris. As soon as the Stealth Ship reverted to realspace, it activated it's Cloaking Device before beginning it's approach towards Selvaris. Onboard the Revenant was a small contingent of Operatives of the
Red Right Hand along with a single unmarked Small Transport located within the small single-craft hangar of the Stealth Ship, ready to carry out the High Regent's directives at ease.

As they Stealth Ship entered the atmosphere, it headed towards the location of an old Mandalorian Compound, which was said to be located within the dense jungles of Selvaris's Southern Hemisphere along it's largest mountain range. Within the compound we're the remaining Mawite Contacts had fled after it had been confirmed that they we're being hunted by a unknown force. As the Stealth Ship flew over the Mountain Range, it began dropping a few Reconnaissance Drones in order to begin scanning out the region in search of the Compound, whose exact location was hard to pinpoint considering it's location within dense jungle terrain.

Onboard the bridge of the Revenant, Joseph Torson gazed upon the dense jungle terrain that covered the surface of Selvaris. "Any eyes on the Compound yet?" he asked, addressing the Senior Sensor Officer onboard. "Not yet sir, the Drones are still scanning." the Officer replied. Torson sighed, hopefully whatever was out there hunting Mawites and Refugees alike hadn't found Sularen's contacts yet as it was going to take a while before the Revenant could find the Compound and Torson had little intentions of fumbling this operation like his previous two missions at Tython and Woostri. Thus, the Revenant's Reconnaissance Drones continued their search along the Dense Jungle terrain, searching for any sign of the Compound as well as any traces of the mysterious Sithspawn.

Long-Term Refugee Camp
Selvaris

- Loomi Loomi - Open -
Alicio wasn't as cognizant of his surroundings as he should have been, either.

He was supposed to be overseeing the removal of hovercrates from a shuttle. Which he had done, organizing the volunteers around him into groups, and outlining where they had to place the different supplies, and how to efficiently pass out rations and water to the people. But once he was done, Alicio seemed to get lost in his own thoughts, glaring into the middle distance.

Helping another group of the unhoused only made Alicio consider the resources of the Alliance more. Refugees were pouring in from former Ashlan territory, families from along the Mandalorian fronts were beginning to seek shelter, and the general stress of a galaxy on the tipping point of war again brought the fearful to the gates of the Alliance. How long would Alderaan be able to contribute a lion's share?

Not to mention this was the first time he'd traveled to a new planet without Arlo Renard Arlo Renard to watch his back. To banter with. To confide in...

After a moment of pause, Alicio took out his datapad, bringing up a picture of his girls. Amani and Liana, the former coming off a giggling fit, the latter with her mouth wide open. They had all been too busy recently. What he would give for a day...

"Oof!-" Alicio exclaimed, as the sharp corner of a box collided with his arm. The datapad fell from his grip, it's screen landing face up in the dirt. "Ouch," he said mutely, rubbing his elbow.

Alicio turned to see who he'd collided with, an apologetic smile immediately overtaking his somber attitude. "Are you okay? I'm sorry, I shouldn't stand in the middle of the path like that." He checked over the Godoan, to ensure she wasn't hurt, noting the nasty scars on her face.

“I-I’m okay,” Loomi insisted, managing a nervous smile. “J-just a little rattled I think.”

Her good eye could make out his features pretty well now that she was up close. He seemed… sad. Somber more like. Her antennae flitted about as she felt the air around the man. Had he lost somebody? He seemed to be mourning, or at least he certainly felt like he was. Loomi decided that it was probably best not to press.

“Oh,” she continued, a realization coming to her. “Y-you’re Mr. Organa, right?”

The senate guy who was supposed to be assisting the organization of their relief work. That made sense why he’d just be standing here. He was probably getting a lay of the land to better figure out where things needed to go.

She definitely wasn’t overthinking this to try to ignore the fact that he was looking at the scar on her face.

“I’m Loomi,” she introduced. “S-sorry bout bumping into you and making everything all… weird, I guess.”

The Godoan frowned, tilting her head. She should probably offer him assistance, right?

“Do you… need some help?”

As the latest generations of Jedi continued to expand, it was only inevitable that the Council would grow to accommodate. Of the potential candidates, one stood out the most, thanks to her dedication, faculty, and tenure, "Thank you for joining us, Master Cthylla." Amani smiled warmly, and dipped her head. She had interacted with the Pylantian less than she'd have liked, but her view of the woman (socially, more than visually) was nothing but pleasant.

Master San Tekka offered the opening question, and Amani waited for Kassogtha to answer, before offering another, "Master, have you ever personally been in contact with any dark side artifacts or devices over your career as a Jedi? If so, how did you proceed, and how did you react to the exposure?" A pertinent question, she figured. Archivists were among the Jedi who most commonly had to interact with and maintain such relics.

Master Kassogtha Cthylla paused outside the entrance to the Council Chamber to meditate and collect herself. Her husband Oukranos had wished her luck before he went to class that morning, but she found herself wishing for his company. Alas, this was something she would have to do alone.

With the NJO now the primary representative of the Jedi in the galaxy, some changes were necessary. Their Council was quite small compared to other iterations of the Order, and they had lost many members during the war. Though they had never officially granted her the official title of Head Librarian, Kass had more or less taken over management of the archives in the absence of Aeris Lashiec Aeris Lashiec . Her devotion to her work, as well as her experience and capabilities, had evidently caught their attention. She understood the necessity of leadership, and was at peace with whatever outcome this meeting might have, but couldn’t shake her nerves completely. It was a big responsibility to undertake, even if they judged her worthy.

Taking a deep breath, she finally opened the door and entered the chamber. She slithered toward the center of the room, with the Council seated around her, and bobbed low to the floor in a Pylantian bow. “Thank you for having me, Masters.

Master Noble spoke first, welcoming her and explaining how things would proceed. Master San Tekka was the first to ask a question.

"Master Cthylla. You were trained on Kashyyyk. Tell us about your master. Another scholar?"

I was apprenticed to Master Gavyn Farlander,” she answered. “He is a warrior, not a scholar.” There was a fair chance that some of the people in this room had heard of Farlander, if not encountered him at some point. A former Sith, he stood out among the ranks of the Jedi—as did his somewhat maverick teachings. “I would have been sent to the Service Corps, had he not chosen me as his padawan. I was a timid and anxious student. He taught me to overcome my fears.” Often by encouraging her to be more aggressive and assertive rather than passive and shrinking. “Under his tutelage, I excelled. He was supportive of my scholarly pursuits, though his strengths lay elsewhere.” He had been determined to make her into a “badass librarian”, in his own words, and had more or less succeeded.

"Master, have you ever personally been in contact with any dark side artifacts or devices over your career as a Jedi? If so, how did you proceed, and how did you react to the exposure?"

Many times. I handled such devices in the archives of the Silver Rest, and participated in field missions to retrieve artifacts. Most recently I recovered the Holocron of Blades.” Her answer to Amani’s second question was destined to be more controversial, but Kass would not sugarcoat her views on the matter. “Over the years, constant exposure has made the whole process rather mundane. Most of these artifacts have lost their power to tempt and tantalize me. Their knowledge is not forbidden or special, it’s just more of the same-old. I prefer to approach all perspectives with an open mind, but I am not so open-minded that my brains are falling out. It takes more than that to shake my faith in the Light. That is why I oppose the censorship of the Dark Side by secreting these artifacts away where they are inaccessible to the curious, except where it involves exposing young and impressionable minds to things they are not equipped to handle. Students should know what they will face as Jedi, lest they be ill-equipped to face them.

Kahlil sat among the others, arms crossed over his chest. He listened, he watched. But in reality he didn't have much of an opinion one way or another. His own process of being accepted on the Council was a vision from the Force, not being spoken to or interviewed. Perhaps he should've been. He chuckled inwardly at the thought, but nodded shortly after in agreement.

"Ignorance is indeed a strength only to those who seek us harm. .. Well, I mean, I don't have much to add so I'll just say I'm quite eager to have a Head Librarian again."

<"That's rather enlightened of you," Jasper noted, scratching the scruff on his face. "I'm inclined to agree. If the proper precautions are taking place, learning what the enemy is capable of is an edge we can't afford to deny our students. Combating the darkness is a matter of life or death. We all know this... I wish to see all of our young students return alive from their first encounter.">

The Sentinel of Harmony wasn't present physically in the Council Chambers. He was calling in from the Dawnbreaker, as he was also overseeing relief work currently occurring on Selvaris. Still, he was sat down in his chair across the distance present for the meeting, eager to see what it was Kass could offer. Needless to say he was impressed so far.

Jasper leaned back, lifting up his right leg and resting it on the knee of his left. He was very open to her inclusion to the council. As Kahlil had very astutely pointed out, they needed a head librarian. It was a matter far beyond his own skills, and one he very much assumed was a similar matter for the rest of the council. The maintaining of the archives for the continued education of the students under their care, even those who had moved on to knighthood, was a deed of great significance. The New Jedi Order could only come to benefit from such a role being fulfilled once again.

<"I'm of the same notion as Master Kahlil," the knight added. "The chair of Head Librarian has gone unfilled for far too long. We stand to benefit from the position being held again. We have done our best to educate our young learners, but the loss of Aeris Lashiec Aeris Lashiec has certainly had it's share of difficulties.">

To that end Kassogtha's experience would be of great help.

"Stay close Toby, you do not want one of those things to sneak up on you"

Within the wilderness of Selvaris, two Jedi calmly walked through the forest, one which was dim and tipping it down with heavy rain. They had started their walk not long ago after departing from the nearest village, a place that had been constant attacks by the zombies that plagued the land around it. Their efforts would not cure the planet of this stench, but it would at least give some peace to some that had long dealt with this vermin.

Silas was more than capable of taking care of this task alone. Although, at the last minute he received word he was being assigned a young Jedi. It wasn't uncommon that the order provided padawans to knights on missions, they were the best way to gain experience on the field after all. The only thing that bothered Silas was the fact he hadn't been able to talk or get an idea of what the padawan was going to be like. For now, he'd just have to go with the flow and pick up some things along the way.

Silas put a hand through his wet hair and kept his eyes in front of him "You do know you can speak, I'd rather hear another voice than the sound of rain" he said calmly before motioning Toby to join walk beside him "Trust me, you'll enjoy the peace that chat brings before you step into chaos. If anything, it will help ease your mind" Silas continued as the density of the rain only seemed to get worse.

"Is anything on your mind you wish to discuss?"

"Alright, latest intel's in. We're hitting a Sith field research camp deep in the Selvaris jungle." She tapped her gauntlet, and projected a simple map of the area marking their drop zone and the camp. "They've got some new, experimental soldier -- tough as hell. An army squad were fighting some of the Maw zombies infesting the place when they got attacked. Nearly got wiped out. They're hard to kill, so we'll have to kill 'em harder.

"We're coming in low and setting down two and a half klicks away, any closer and the stealth tech won't be able to keep us as well hidden. These, uh, technobeasts, likely won't be alone; stay on your guard, and don't let anything slip the net. Make sure you're locked on the right line, we're gonna start jamming a few minutes after we land.

"We'll be moving fast. Can't let them escape, or give them time to destroy what they have. Don't go for captures unless it's easier than kills. Hopefully there'll be some non-combatants on site, who'll be more amenable to cooperation with the SIA -- that being said, most Sith agents operating this far from home are more willing to die than be captured.

"Teams Beta, Gamma, you're on our flanks. Spread out, be careful, and do what you do best. Alpha, you're with me. We're beelining to the camp. Hit them hard, hit them fast. Let's roll. Landing in two." She clapped her hands together again.

She took a moment to go over to the agents assigned with her. "Mr. Guns Galore himself," she said, offering a firm handshake and a joking smile. "Glad you're with us today. I know this is a little outside your particular area of expertise, but I'm assuming that you'll keep up anyways."

Then she turned to the thief, and squatted down for a moment to look her in the eyes. "Stay close. Pay attention. I'll let you know when I need you most."

She got up and went back to the door, checking her armour one last time. The two minutes passed in the blink of an eye; the dropship settled, the door opened, and the Pathfinders filed out perfectly to secure their landing zone. Tallara came out last. Once they were secure, she signalled the go-ahead to begin their advance through the jungle.

Gabriel remembered reports of Selvaris during the war. It was a backwater that had become important staging zone for Alliance military actions in what had been dubbed "The Maw Corridor", a string of worlds that cut straight through to the heart of the Alliance. It was the deepest the Sith-led raiders had gotten into Alliance space with any real presence. Sure, there were reported raids from all corners of the Alliance. The Maw's reverse engineered Path Engines made that simple. But to hold territory? It was a turning point in the war.

Now Selvaris' landscape was torn by war and piracy, never able to fully recover between Maw remnant raiders, Final Dawn flotillas, and opportunistic scavengers. But the Alliance was back. The Jedi were back. And they would put this world back together like it had so many others.

"Its like nothing I've ever read of before Wu Yong," the Jedi Master muttered, walking through the rows of tents in the medical camp.

"Two things come to mind," the droid mused as it shuffled beside Gabriel and his new padawan. He was still concerned about her. The Council had aided in his making arrangements for her Alliance citizenship but he was hearing whispers about a bounty on her head for the murder of that Hutt. He still hadn't told the council about that part, and he hoped she hadn't either. But she was...Strange. Captivity did that to a person.

"Elaborate."

"It has similarities to the 'Dark Harvest', a plague that was believed to be influenced by the Force that caused the dead to rise. Many of the symptoms are present. Fever, regurgitation of black ichor, chills." He'd heard of it. It had happened during his father's childhood. Some of the older Padawans told stories about the Dark Harvest during Hallowe'en. There were many a night he was terrified of some zombie, nameless, or Sith Wraith crawling up from the Bogon Collection to drag his soul off to Chaos.

"But these ones aren't rising. They said they haven't seen a Walker in some time. They're mostly confined to the jungles."

"That brings me to my second hypothesis. Technobeasts are rumored to be able to carry a myriad of diseases including-" The words were lost on Gabriel as he saw who was walking towards him. Stern, thoughtful eyes, long silvery hair. Her face was much more serious than it had been in their youth, the years bringing with it its own share of tribulations. She had a Padawan with her. Was he hers? Or just one of the many aiding the Jedi here? He stood there, unable to move. How long had it been?

"Master Pryce?" The droid cocked its head to the side having realized his Jedi had stopped walking and was staring off into the distance, mouth slightly slack jawed.
