To quell the tempest softly

Found just off of the intersection of the Corellian Trade Spine and Rimma Trade Route, Ukatis is a relatively unknown, largely unremarkable planet. Though gradually modernizing with a handful of sprawling cities, Ukatis is a traditional agrarian world that operates under a feudal system. In an attempt to throw off the yoke of their previous king's isolationist policies, Ukatis has recently joined the Galactic Alliance and opened their borders to trade, travelers, and tourists alike.
Far away from the industrial capital of Axilla, the annual Harvest Festival in rural Ascania territory is in full swing. City streets are lined with colorful scraps of fabric and adorned with flowers, strung overhead from building to building in a criss-cross of brightly perfumed pigments. Vendors selling local foods, crafts, and other wares eagerly tend to their customers, haggling and shouting over the festival buzz. Adorned in festive flower crowns, children and adults alike entertain themselves with carnival games: tossing rings onto pegs, throwing axes, and other adjacent activities.
The atmosphere is cheerful and upbeat— after all, this year the celebration was open to visitors from off-world!

Carnival games are giving out prizes, and one galactically savvy vendor managed to stock Ginko Pop colleable figurines of famous galactic faces as prizes. Enjoy activies such as ring tossing, axe throwing, strength testing and more!
One merchant is even selling purebred Ukatian racyon kits with numerous distinctive color patterns. Highly prized for their companionship and precognitive abilities, these small, dog-like creatures make fine pets.

The Ascania family has graciously opened up their estate gardens for festival goers to peruse. Connected seamlessly to the party by a short corridor, these well-manicured yet lush gardens make a perfect quiet retreat from the noise and energy of the celebrations.
Feel free to wander the maze-like greenery and admire the foliage and statues, or seat yourself at one of the many private benches and relax.

Her husband had his own thoughts on the matter, but privately Cora had hoped that some of the friends and connections she'd made during her time in the New Jedi Order hadn't been too put off by her home planet to attend. Politics aside, she wanted to share with them something positive about the world that had shaped her.
Flanked by a handmaid and several royal guards as protocol dictated, the Princess was given a wide berth as she made her way down one of the city streets. Something caught her eye, and she abruptly stopped in front of a merchant who'd spread an assortment of dolls over his table. Staring back at her was a Ginko Pop figurine of

The vendor, suddenly looking quite anxious, quickly straightened his back and dipped his head in a deep bow.
"Your Highness, is there something...in particular that you are looking for?"
Tilting her chin downward in a gesture of acknowledgment, Cora spoke, transfixed on the collectible toy featuring her Master, which also happened to have a hilarious misprint.
"How much for this one?" She motioned to the figurine. The man raised his head tentatively, wide eyes shifting to squint at the Valery doll.
"If it pleases Her Highness, then it is hers."
Noble decorum kept Cora's expression even. It was also the only thing keeping her from shooing away the stone-faced entourage who'd kept in seamless step a mere few paces behind. The Princess wouldn't deny that special treatment could be nice at times, but this was getting absurd for even her.
Holding back a tsk, Cora took a half-step back in order to read the sign she'd ignored during her approach.
"Twenty credits, then."
The vendor looked startled. "Your Highness, you needn't-"
"But I insist. I am sure you worked hard to gather your stock for tis festival; it would be rude of me to walk away with this doll without paying for it."
The merchant looked as though he thought better of what he wanted to say. Cora held out her hand, palm up, to the maid that flanked her left. The woman retrieved a pouch of credits from her pocket before placing exact change in the Princess' hand, which were then exchanged for the amusing Valery doll.
"Keep the rest and go have fun."

The handmaid looked towards her charge, surprised, and the three guards exchanged glances. A pair of racyon scampered by, one with a mouthful of apple dumpling and the other with some sort of smoked sausage. It was enough to break the stunned silence.
"Your Highness, we cannot simply leave you in such-"
"You can." Cora insisted with a wave of her hand, polite but firm. "This is a festival, Marian. You're supposed to have fun. Go eat something fattening or play a silly game. You needn't worry about me; I grew up on this land, and more than familiar with the layout. Go on now, you are dismissed for the day. All of you."
The Princess arched a manicured blonde eyebrow.
"That is an order."
Once her attendants had dispersed into the crowd, Cora felt as if she could finally breathe.

OOC: Welcome to the Ukatis Harvest Festival! This is a public thread open to everyone. In the spirit of this being a festive social thread, I ask that attendees do not engage in overly violent behavior. I.E. No lightsaber duels, beheadings, terrorist attacks etc. Getting drunk and starting a fistfight is okay; orbital bombardments are frowned upon.
You do not need a tag to join, but I'm tagging those who've expressed interest:
