With both major Sith forces in the galaxy on good terms and working together, Naamino Zuukamano had no shortage of military operations to oversee and participate in. However, personal matters had recently gotten in the way of the zabrak's upward momentum within the Order's ranks. The betrayal by Haro Aven Haro Aven more than stung, it was a gaping wound in Naami's soul and the aspiring Sith knight privately wondered if he'd ever recover from it.

In the immediate aftermath of his once best friend fleeing from Sith space, the zabrak had… not been fit for duty. After a series of behavioral outbursts and the unfortunate deaths of a few troopers, Naami was quietly demoted by his Master Elmindra Xitaar Elmindra Xitaar and sent to serve away from the Holy Worlds. She'd insisted he shed the weakness of doubt and emotional pain, to harness it to feed his power in the Force. He would only be allowed to return to normal duty, to re-claim his rightful place commanding units, when he proved he was of right mind and properly useful once more.

That was how he'd found himself in Covenant space, lent to the Empress of the Core as muscle. His armor, typically sporting rank and Kor'ethyr insignia, was painted black and the zabrak had none of the normally abundant resources of war at his disposal. It was him, his armor, his sabers, and his resolve.

Well… that wasn't entirely fair, there was Varin.

Though Naamino felt numb and distant from everyone and everything lately, missing Leshanna Dromar Leshanna Dromar , wondering why Lysander von Ascania Lysander von Ascania wasn't responding to the holomail thread they used to check in through, and most of all seething about what Haro had done, about who Haro really was. Despite all that, the zabrak was grateful for his battle brother's presence here. Words were still a challenge for him though, it seemed like every time he opened his mouth lately the only thing he could manage was a scream and that was just to hold back the sobs. So he didn't say anything at all.

Naami nodded at Varin's words, grunting the affirmative. His friend was taking the lead for this mission and the zabrak fell in line like good soldiers do. Focusing ahead, Naami took a long slow inhale before reaching out his gloved left hand to unleash a targeted Force blast at the factory door.

KJARTAN HAMMER-HAND

"Hammer-hand," Romul boomed, his voice transmitted across light-years through encrypted tightbeam communications. "The defenders report a spreading parasitic plague. All data is being forwarded live across the fleet's battlenet." These parasites were reportedly resistant to fire, the go-to typical Mandalorian crowd-control solution. The Iron Covenant would need to devise a response, and they had little time to do it. "Our comms link is secure and stable. Communicate when necessary; otherwise, begin final preparations. I will rally the soldiers here. Our hour grows near."

Kjartan sat upon his command chair within the bridge of the Buurenaar’gam - his flagship, renowned as a relic among the Mando’ade of Kestri, and infamous amongst her enemies. The Ha’rangir class of star destroyers were power houses amongst the stars, with only one being needed to instill fear against enemies be they Sith or otherwise. That much was proven true during his sortie against the Imperial Confederation over Mon Calamari.

Yet, the Buurenaar’gam was but one such vessel amidst the collection of ships assembling in the void - just beyond the edge of the Abregado-Rae system. The Mythos Fleet gathered, like a storm whose tendrils coiled around the center - ready to crash upon their foe with fire and steel. The Voidbrand stroked his beard as he took in Romul’s initial report. Parasitic plagues, sacrificial executions... the Iron Covenant knew the Sith were coming, but this was something unexpected even for him. “We’ll be ready. Just try to leave some of them for us...” he gave the warchief a devilish grin, yet it only undercut the severity of the moment.

He was embarrassed upon the battlefield of Humbarine; yet he aimed to redeem himself on Abregado Rae. The Sith thought they had cornered their foe, ensnaring them upon a world they had pledged to protect. But the Hammer-Hand would show them the meaning of righteous fury.

Soon, the Hammer would strike.

“Forgemaster-” Kjartan’s gravelly voice began: “I’m linking you into the battle stream from Abregado Rae. Do we have weapons to combat this villainy?”

The Forgemaster’s pockmarked face analyzed the data, and after a moment’s pause - he responded. “Cryo weapons. We have stores within the Mythos Fleet, although the larger balance of our arsenal would be aboard the supply ships. Each combat vessel carries a modest requisition, but not enough for everyone.”

“See to fixing that, with priority placed upon our Marines, and in our bomber craft.” The Hammer’s face hardened, his voice carrying a firmness as if wrought from beskar’gam itself. “When The Warmaster gives the signal, we have to be ready. What’s our status?”

“The armada is assembling - we’re only waiting on a few flotillas to arrive.”

Kjartan nodded approvingly, and arose from his seat to pace over to the viewport. His eyes surveyed the gathering of warships before him - far greater of a host than Humbarine by a considerable margin. “If these dar’jetii want death, we’ll give it to them. They can meet whatever damned deity they believe resides in haran.”

I found myself rocketing towards the spaceport of Abregado-rae, the dropship I happened to be in being for a solitary person. My objective was clear: aid in the capture of the spaceport and any personnel that were deemed important enough to be detained. However, I was more keen on taking out the Mandalorian defense force stationed there. It was a lot of ground to cover, and even more so, it was no down a heavy spot of contention in this invasion. Yggdrakses was restless; having claimed three of his fragmented soulshards, he was more active in my mindseye, even more so now as he was a patron god of conquest. He thrived in expanding territory and invading neighboring systems.

"Can you feel the carnage below my chosen? Does it not exhilarate you?!" he asked, a childlike glee in his tone as he peered through my eyes to see the conflict unfolding below us. We both witnessed a massive force crash through the defensive line of the spaceport. The amount of Dark Side energy coming from the impact zone was astronomical. Just who could that have been? "How marvelous, shall we join the fray now, and show them why they should fear the Vehement Sun?" the dark god inquired, to which I nodded in agreement as cosmic flames began to engulf my form.

By the time my pod landed within the spaceport behind enemy lines, it was completely encased in violet-red flames. The impact alone caused a wave of cosmic flames to wash over the immediate area, incinerating any of the Iron Covenant forces unfortunate to be caught within the area. The door to the molten dropship burst open, my demonic cackling echoing across the spaceport. The scene before the mandalorians was like that of nightmares. On one hand, the plague was causing anything organic to become part of its grotesque mass and the falling red snow that was spreading it further. On the other, they now had a cackling, grinning demonoid figure of cosmic fire staring them down.

The plague snow would disintegrate into nothingness upon hitting my heated flesh as I pointed at them all, cackling even harder. "DIE!!!!!!!!" I screeched as I rushed them, tearing through their forms like wet paper. The searing sound of muscle and flesh being carterized clean through and the cacophony of demonic laughter filled the area of the spacesport I was at as I contended with the defenses there.

"Kaelyr words"
"Yggdrakses words"

The bike drew along side Leontis Antalis Leontis Antalis 's command vehicle as he reached out to her over the encrypted comms channel. No response was made at first. She listened attentively to the man's assessment of the situation and admission of his own exposure.

"Fungal Wildfire." The blacked out helm turned in the direction of Leontis' armored shell. Wildfire being short for rapidly spreading, highly communicable infectious agent. "Lock in on Channel Foxtrot for continued dispersal reports. At present, spore density in the immediate area of the spaceport is beginning to rise. Once it reaches saturation anything organic without proper filtration or protection will become host to a rather horrific affliction. It will quickly grow and then kill its host. Then it gets worse." Far be it for Astra to spoil the surprise. Being dead should be motivation enough to take it seriously the rest... was window dressing of blood and horror.

"Officially, our mission is to compromise any quarantine zones established by the Mandalorians or the local Government to enable this Living Nightmare to lay claim to the entire planet," Astra added since Mercy hadn't bothered with the 'trivial detail' of briefing everyone concerning the plague. "Unofficially, I plan to find a fungicide enabling us to take the planet back." For a price, of course. Research and development wasn't cheap. Especially when you were forced to do it in a war zone... while it was still hot. To say nothing of the expenses necessary to purge, sanitize, and rebuild.

"I would recommend not becoming infected, General." Astra smiled within her helmet. "They shortened the gestation time, and scientific progress takes time. Let me know if you begin exhibiting any symptoms. It may be possible to buy additional time." Figuratively speaking. Also, literally.

Surprisingly, the man did have a good head for avoiding certain death. Not follow the Empress Mercy Mercy into glorious battle? Encircle the enemy? Why, it almost sounded like he knew what he was doing -- even if it might take a little more time to make a breach of his own. Normally, following would be prudent, but this was a war fought by a monsterfied woman that gleefully was tearing limbs from bodies (Astra's private imaginings). One had to make... adjustments.

Astra decided to stick with the man's convoy for the time being. After all, she was just a plain, simple Corpo.

Better yet, he even was thoughtful enough to ask his soldiers to keep captured civilians alive. Outstanding. He truly had understood the messages concerning the desire to acquire test subjects. Astra had, of course, tapped into the platoon's communication to keep tabs on their strategy. Nothing worse than getting run over by a vehicle making a sudden course correction.

Well, being infected by the spores would be worse.

The separation of people was a boon on top of everything else. Different social strata isolated together? Excellent, they could observe the impact of diet, health, and other societal factors to determine if they accelerated or slowed the progress of the spore lifecycle.

Astra pulled out a pad to check on her Second Package when another loud crash shook the air. Kaelyr Kaelyr had arrived. Her burnt eyes narrowed behind the black visor. Always complications with the Sith Covenant. All that fire would keep the Children terrorizing the region outside of the Spaceport, which suited them just fine.

"General," whether it was his title or not, Astra chimed in, "the ion cannon is in the process of unpacking itself on the outskirts of the spaceport terminal. Once it is operational it will help your forces maintain control of the nearby skies." Perhaps the Mandalorians didn't care. They had gunships and transports and were used to field pickups. Too bad for the civilians. Even if that were true and they abandoned the people of Abregado-rae to their fate, however, Astra wasn't one to leave things to chance. Besides, the sooner they got control-- no, they were going to ruin the spaceport. Well, she'd just have to claim the deed to the land and lease it back after all the reconstruction was finished.

Theme: Winter

It was odd in a way. Korar had only one really connection to the mandalorians, his father who passed a few years ago in battle. For those years korar was on his own, away from the mandalorians. It was only recently he came back to them, to the iron covenant. He'd heard of them through a few sources, heard what kid of people they were, the kind he wanted. So far he'd only done one mission for them, then almost immediately he was on his way to fight alongside his vode,

He'd checked his beskar'gam about 4 times in the past 2 hours by now. he was..slightly nervous. He'd of course been in plenty of battles, hell his cloak was from the wampa that took his right arm as a child that he killed later in life. But this was different, he was use to small time things llike going after gangs or pirates, simple mercenary things, not this.

For now as he waited Korar was checking someone else's beskar'gam. His Karafankata, Kovita. Making sure each plate fits snug, the few plates around her tail not to tight to make sure she could use her bladed tail properly. Her buy'ce was giving him some trouble, until he realized it was just a broken strap, she probably chewed on it when it was off, it was a simple replacement luckily. Her 6 eyes where scanning the room, watching the others. Like him she wasn't use to this, she'd fought plenty before but not around this many other people. After a little while as Korar was making soem final adjustments to her buy'ce she rubbed her head on him. Korar grabed one of her 4 tusks and gave her head a little shake, which she started to purr at.

Once everything was set Korar grapped his pistol the iron fang, his rifle, his minigun the war horn, and finally the earthshaker, his 2.2 meter tall warhammer. Putting it on his back under his white wampa fur cloak. He was intending to meet up with Braze Braze , walking with kovita, the two of them stopped next to him, korar gave him a simple "Hey" before turning to listen.

“Haran—I trust you will have my back.”

"Right behind you, Alor."

And then things started to get kinetic.

Even as Carduul and the Arkanian were aware of their presence, Mercy launched herself right in the middle of the fortification at a speed that had nothing human about it. Her form met a barricade and burst through it like a battering ram, causing a minor explosion that sent anything in her proximity flying.

Bits of rubble pelted off the Arkanian's beskar'gam as he stood there, frowning inside his helm.

A Sith?

The Heads Up Display targeting reticle moved across the screen as a shape resolved out of the pulverized dust cloud.

A gigantic ugly thing emerged wearing some sort of disgusting flesh-chitin armor.

Definitely Sith, although his HUD had not finished its full analytic scan against their known database yet. The way it moved looked familiar somehow...

But the Arkanian didn't bother saying hello.

Instead, his stouker concussion rifle swung up and he squeezed the trigger. A packet of ionized air shot toward the freakshow, rippling through the distance between them. He aimed for center-mass. Against any normal person a head-on shot from the rifle would send them flying, pulverizing bones and pulping inner organs where it struck from the concussive shockwave, armor or no armor.

Except Sith were not normal people.

A regular old concussion rifle probably would not do.

Keeping an eye out in case a bolt of lightning shot from the sky, or a meteor dropped on his head, or a sorcerer tried to turn him into a pillar of flame, Harran let out a whistle.

"Sic 'em."

Spike and Dozer, his Sukkot Hounds, darted out and moved to either side of Carduul. Together, the null field projected by the genetically modified hounds worked pretty much the exact same way as an Ysalamiri. Except these two were huge. With teeth.

"Strictly speaking I didn't throw you." Mercy murmured with amusement. "More like... dragged you with me and then protected you until we reached the bottom. I will accept any consequence you see fit, my darling."

“Any consequence? I’ll remember that, sestra.”

Her response to the giantess was about as deadpan as a brick, ignoring the warm smile, but there was a ghostly smirk that flickered at the kiss of her mouth. Having just been treated to a one-way ticket from orbit to terra firma attached to what equated to an organic bus did not make her the most agreeable. She vividly recalled the last time Mercy Mercy treated her to the ground in a battle just like this one. At least, her head hadn’t bounced off the ground like a coconut this time, but the larger woman still wasn’t off the hook. Not that easy, not ever.

The sudden hand at the small of her back was unexpected, but more importantly—Unwelcome.

Srina had been taught since she was old enough to hold a vibrosword that there were boundaries one did not cross without purpose. An opponent crossed them to gain an advantage for close-range strikes. A lover crossed them by invitation, and family rarely bothered to acknowledge them at all.

In the middle of a warzone, a stranger had no reason to be so close.

The faint tapping of nails against her armor near her spine scales caused yellow-gold eyes to brighten with internal flame while her form stilled. Her response wasn’t angered, not quite, but touched with something older and far less reasonable than the Blackwall Empress was purported to be. Her body did not care that Grace Grace was smiling, laced with a particular edge of crazy, nor that they were part of the Sith Covenant. All it registered was unknown contact, and any Echani worth their salt did not permit the unknown to enter their guard.

Her head began to turn, the movement slight, almost languid, while armored fingers curled at her side. There was an invisible tremble in the Force, an involuntary response, that made the dust tremble over fractured stone. Just as her gaze landed on the red-skinned Twi’lek—

Before the renegade Sith Lord could seal her fate, Mercy grabbed her by the back of her neck, lifting her up.

"Darling, I am doing this for your own good."

Mercy had just saved her life. Grace would likely never know how sincere those words were, and Srina did not feel the need to enlighten her. The unnatural light behind pale lashes took its time fading. She did not dislike the crazy Twi’lek, as dislike required considerably more familiarity than they possessed…But she was far from pleased.

The fight ahead reclaimed their attention almost immediately. It made itself known in smoke, shouting, and the heavy concussion of weapons fire while the Graspborn joined the varying formations converging on the spaceport. The front line that Mercy had already cratered was starting to reform, not well perhaps, but quickly enough that her eyes narrowed.

She expected more…Panic.

There was certainly enough of it. The Dread Queen could feel frightened minds pressed together behind the walls, but the movement surrounding the port did not seem entirely right. Defensive lines were tightening where they ought to have collapsed beneath the weight of desperate bodies seeking passage off-world. There were too many soldiers and too few departures, death already present, floating in waves.

Many that attempted to escape with any sort of off temperament befitting the newfound threat were simply ousted or executed by his men when made apparent. That was the sort of call necessary in war- to sever a finger so that the hand may survive.

The Sith had only just hit the Spaceport…It didn’t make sense. Unless…

The Mandalorians were executing the people of Abregado-rae all on their own.

Her eyebrow rose with speculation, but she didn’t comment and filed the inconsistencies away for later. It made her itch. She didn’t like not being able to anticipate what an enemy might do, especially when the terrain was not their own. Instead, she took the huge armored hand that Mercy offered to help her step over the broken roadway. She didn’t think about the gesture, somehow knowing that the red-haired woman would be right there. Her battle-sister squeezed that same hand, and then her hulking form was gone, surging toward the enemy with all the subtlety of an avalanche. She was impossible not to see, spot, a walking tank full of murderous joy—Entirely unstoppable.

Srina watched the Sith Lord for part of a second before the broken road began to tremble beneath her feet. A pebble rose, then another, and great slabs of ferrocrete followed while dragging durasteel and shattered barricades from the crater Mercy had left behind. The pale woman barely seemed to notice the weight, and her attention remained fixed ahead while the wreckage started to gather in a slow, unnatural suspension.

Somewhere beyond the Spaceport, she could still feel Madrona A’Mia Madrona A’Mia , and the weaving sensation was…Strange. It felt rooted and wet. She could smell damp earth when she followed the thread and knew that the Bloody Bonnet had begun to spread. The smoke in the distance had taken on an odd, sickly green shade, and she knew…

The Hordemother was doing her work. Srina would not let her efforts fail, and her chin rose while she prepared to hold up her end of the bargain. Her battle-sister launched herself into the defensive line, and the Echani raised one hand. The explosive might that her battle-sister hit the Spaceport with was terrifying enough, and her actions would not help them feel any safer.

Just as she was about to launch her attack, something up ahead went desperately quiet in her mind. Srina’s gaze sharpened when two enormous hounds broke from a holding position, and their nearness to Mercy set off red flags. She knew that sensation. The sudden emptiness in the Force had become intimately familiar on Humbarine, and her expression crashed into a coldness that had nothing to do with surprise.

"Sic 'em."
Spike and Dozer, his Sukkot Hounds, darted out and moved to either side of Carduul. Together, the null field projected by the genetically modified hounds worked pretty much the exact same way as an Ysalamiri. Except these two were huge. With teeth.

Again.

The Mandalorians did seem fond of repeating themselves, the same toys, the same tricks…But it changed very little. Srina was well beyond the reach of the null field, and it wouldn’t have mattered regardless. The Force was a tool…Not a crutch.

She didn’t need it to turn her enemies to slag.

<<Duck, sestra.>>

Her fist closed and the debris split in two, some going high, while the rest went low. It snapped forward as if it were shot from a cannon, screaming through the air, while it melded the wreckage of the first attack into the second. Huge hunks of ferrocrete smashed toward the structure and fortifications behind the Mandalorians with enough force to bring pieces of it down. The rest went low and headed toward the hounds and their masters.

It wasn’t elegant or pretty, but it wasn’t meant to be.

They had not come to liberate Abregado-rae or sway the people back to the Sith. The decision had been made, and she had come to terminate a threat to her people. To remove a foothold and cripple the renegade Mandalorian position so they might finally feel the hand of the Sith Covenant closing around their throats.

Her eyes hardened and metallic gold orbs burned brighter, corruption bleeding slowly through.

Srina did not forgive. She had not forgotten Humbarine. She had not forgotten that they had taken half of Mercy’s face, her voice, and left her wounded enough that Srina had spent weeks watching flesh re-grow in agony. They had taken bloody, mottled pieces of her battle-sister and thought there wouldn’t be hell to pay. Wrong.

Srina would take everything, their lives, this planet, and toss it into a fething meat grinder.

Her eyes traced the sight of a dropship falling right in the middle of all the chaos, and the ground shook from the impact. The flaming form of Kaelyr Kaelyr burst from it and immediately began to unleash havoc. He looked like a demon, wreathed in bright-dark energy, like a shepherd of the apocalypse.

This was their end. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide—The consequence of their actions.

Let them remember that.

Tytos's eyes snapped open, blazing green, as the voice reverberated through his consciousness. It was through the threads of the Force that the voice flickered, both a whisper and a shout, though as he glanced at his companion -- the plucky smith he had chosen for this journey -- the latter showed no indication of hearing it.

The shaman frowned and closed his eyes once more, intending to concentrate. Find that thread, pluck it himself.

A Sith, that he knew- esoteric as the appearance was. One a lot more showy with feats of strengths than most others it seemed, accompanied by another. The terrifying burst of speed and the sundering of a line of fortifications had caused a stir in several of the troops, but such were the most green amongst them. “You all had yearned to fight our enemies. Some believed that the tribulations before were a waste. Yet, I say not, for it would all be to lead to this moment. Now is your enemy. Now is the time to rise above, and show them your scars! They lay before you now. Fight, and let the Manda hear your cries as you send them back to the shadows!” A commanding voice had harkened across the lines, as they raised and readied their rifles with the oncoming threat.

The way to the spacesport erupted into the battlefield as Mandalorian commandos, Neo-Crusaders, and stormtroopers all collided and exchanged fire. The lines, what could’ve been burdened by hundreds of flailing civilians, would reform and remain firm with a fraction of the effort.

This, too, was another trial to beset the Mandalorian people. And though he was a mere individual, the man had faith. Faith in his kin. In the strength of his own self. For that was what was owed, after all that had been given and taken from him.

Mandalore.

That was a title once revered, ground up into the dirt and reused until it was nothing but a husk with far too many scars to be recognizable. He, yet another notch in such a cycle. Yet, he remained his peoples’ Anointed. His duty did not end with the title. It would only end until his last dying breath was wretched from tightened fingers. That day, he resolved, would not be today.

With the approach of the figure, the one who moments before had sent troops flying and- there had lay but one course of action that lay:

Halt their advance.

So the crusader had motioned forth. A surge of momentum, not a propulsion of technology but merely a sprint forwards- yet the distance garnered was enough to close distance. Ferrocrete surged up from the ground and soared towards him and the warriors behind him. Those caught in the shadow had swiftly repositioned with jettisons of jetpacks, or simply swift enough reflexes. Others opted for more explosive options, rockets reducing stone to dust and smithereens. It was a disorienting blow, but like a tide, the formation waxed then waned, breaking apart to reform yet again. Blaster bolts pinged off of armor, scorched skin, and grenades were lobbed. All of such served as a background to what unfolded afore him- and the ferrocrete hunk in front of him.

The beskar poleaxe’s side was turned to the spiked blunt end, rending upwards with the motion forwards. With a harsh crack! Carduul had ruptured the ferrocrete just as his movement had surged him forwards. Though he was by no means brutish in his methods, sometimes the best way was simply through. Debris and dust was sent scattering and obscured his form for that briefest of moment, before his foe was directly across from him. Momentum was gaining.

And so, the weapon had shifted in a preparatory motion—the spiked lance beskar had angled upwards, towards the upper-chest and throat. One would oft’ be impaled by their own momentum with such a position, and it hardly required effort from him. He believed the Sith wasn’t as foolish as to allow such. Only time may tell. Weapons may yet clash, and in so doing bring that spark of fervor ever-held for such a battle.

The Hounds, for now, were merely aids to it all- kept close on the off-chance they might aid in his efforts at the opportune moment. Stalking at the outsets of the fight to deter, at the Arkanian’s beck and call. A dampening of the Force- yet he never trusted such a thing, for he knew of the myriad of Sith who constantly sought to circumvent it. Personally, he never was one for such tricks. War, of course, called for him to resort to distasteful measures to ensure success. That was something his opponents no doubt knew well.

Hold out, for not that much longer. Make the Sith bleed for every soul they've damned. This was his mission. In that, he would not fail.

It was the day.

Anet brought the mask to rest upon her face, inhaling sharply as her connection to the Force was finally restored after several long weeks. It was like curing the worst headache of your life in an instant. As if color returned to reality. An end to the shakes and the numbness she felt. The need to be joined with the vessel of her power.

She and Calyx had infiltrated the industrial grounds some time ago. People thought they were just ordinary civilians like the rest. There was even enough time to form bonds, but unlike Calyx, hers were never quite real at all. There was no hesitation when she ignited her angry blade, a lightsaber so foul it spit flares of plasma through a wavering containment field. She cut down people whom she had built a rapport with - some who were on the verge of calling her friend. She didn't give them enough time to really process what had happened. Perhaps, in some small way, that was a mercy.

The half-pantoran walked, glowing lightsaber in hand, across the facility to where Calyx finished his half of the business. Only upon reaching him did her weapon recoil, though the hilt remained locked in her grip.

He would hear the door slide open first. Then, her soft steps as she sauntered further into the control room. She placed one hand on his shoulder as he turned to meet her, gripping it with a soft intimacy that was undoubtedly an ill contrast to what ached inside his heart.

"Good job," she murmured pleasantly. Then nodded. "Mhm. Let's g--"

Her comlink chirped a few times, and her attention snapped in a vague direction of the industrial district, as if she saw something beyond the thick layers of steel wall.

"They're pushing through the district." Many of them, according to the brief bit of intel relayed her way. "Our own soldiers will arrive soon, but we can't let them foil our great work here." Her eyes briefly fell to his weapon. "Are you prepared to use that, Calyx? Are you prepared to fight with me... side-by-side?"

Anet's question came laced with poison. Of course, he could flee. He could turn around and run, likely avoiding the Mandalorians that came to secure the facilities. Though where would he go with the battle that raged ahead? Besides. He would notice her bottom lip peeking beneath the half-mask, curling into a smile. She trusted that he would stay with her. She trusted that they would kill together.

The Sith Covenant's advanced forces were fodder. Light on their feet; armed for a quick fight. Drilled to die. They would serve well enough to slow the enemy down, until the heavier troops of Mercy's legion arrived. She could hear the fighting from inside. It wouldn't be long until they ran into someone hugged in beskar.

Sith and Mandalorian warships clashed in a desperate struggle for control. With so many of the Sith vessels committed to opening landing corridors, the established Mandalorian fleet had seized an early advantage. There was some wonder about what thoughts were going on inside those bucketheads. The last time their forces clashed was over Humbarine, where the Mythic Fleet suffered only a single cruiser as a total loss.

Were they confident?

Did they believe they had the utmost advantage? Was that superiority theirs to take?

What the Iron Covenant fought above Humbarine was a scrapheap. A butcher’s knife sent to carve an Imperial holdout. An act of punishment… a slap.

While the Mandalorians had committed much on a rescue mission... While then they moved across the stars themselves, carrying with them the resources and challenges of an entire nation... The Sith Covenant had been churning, largely undisturbed. Preparing, stockpiling, building towards this moment.

Against the star-smeared black of deep space, light itself appeared to warp. However, nothing would arrive on the hyperspace sensors. Or any sensors at all, most likely, until it was already upon them.

What was about to arrive over Abregado-rae was the blade that the Iron Covenant surrendered at Humbarine; returned with righteous fury.

Realspace warped, pulled back, and was torn asunder. Quite literally on top of the Mandalorian fleet was a maw so massive that it shrouded the world’s sky in the fiery hue of hell.

From that rift emerged a mighty bow, the size of which dwarfed anything in the Iron Covenant’s arsenal. And yes, that wasn’t even half of it. The Tyranny didn’t wait to fully emerge before battery, after battery, after battery of turbolaser and a massive barrage of ion fire began to rain down upon their warships. Other Sith vessels emerged beside it, sailing ahead from the jaws of the Netherworld and joining the battle.

Upon the Tyranny’s observation deck, dark amber eyes hawked past the holographic display, searching with her own eyes - the tiny glints and streaks of turbolaser that dotted the night.

She hailed her forces.

“I deliver the absolute and inviolate command of our Lord Empress: eradicate the Kestran fleet.”

And that would be enough. For now.

Admiral Kesyk backed away from the viewport, lazing down into the command chair as she watched the onslaught unfold.

Her strategy was simple, and she felt an approximation to joy (or was it pride?) that Mercy most eagerly approved, for it mirrored the Sith Lord's own designs for how to deal with these Mandalorians.

See - it came down to a basic solution.

The Mythic Fleet sacrificed a large-scale industrial base for mobility. Likely, they had believed they could score a quick, decisive victory against the Sith. Now, however, they were on the defensive. What might’ve been a war for existence to them was an exercise in mathematics for her. The Sith could solve their problem with production. The Kestran Mandalorians could only do so by throwing precious bodies and resources at the problem. Resources that would be difficult to recoup if every world they sought refuge on, like Abregado-rae, were scorched. Admiral Kesyk would throw ship after ship at them, confident they could never recover from their losses.

Though such thoughts were the least of anyone’s worries. With the rift to the Netherworld open, a veritable Pandora’s box was unleashed upon the system. Hyperspace jumps and exits became perilous, and all the horrors that lurked within would undoubtedly be drawn to the surface, enriched by the possibility of prey to feed those twisted spirits that resided in the Field of Blades.

Already, Kesyk felt the oppressive presence of the ship weigh down on her. As if the Empress herself held a blade to her throat - a promise of what would happen if she failed her, and the necessary adrenaline to drive her towards success. Her right hand gripped the armrest as she leaned forward, grinning with grit teeth and a hollow fire in her eyes.

“I will not fail you… My Lord.”

  • The Tyranny and its fleet arrive via a netheric gate.
  • The Tyranny is opening fire indiscriminately upon Mandalorian ships.
  • Tyrant Squadron is moving into position.
  • The neteric drive remains active, connected to the Field of Blades.
    • This causes hyperspace anomalies and rifts to tear open across the battlespace. Making arrival and departure from hyperspace very dangerous.
    • Netherworld entities may be drawn in.
    • The Field of Blades may influence ship crews and commanders near the rifts. This might manifest as irrational bloodlust, or encourage them to charge headlong into the rifts, drawn by the promises of glory on the eternal battlefield. These effects can typically be mitigated by battle meditation or other powerful Force techniques that impact the minds and morale of crews.
