Not open for further replies.
Manufacturer: Locke and Key Mechanics
Type: Cybernetic
Market Status: Closed Market
Production: Mass-Produced
Weight: Very Light
Size: Very Small
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Monitor's the body of whoever it is implanted into for any traces of the energy modulation field created by the ND-013 "White Noise" Class LRWD or a similiar technology.
  • Once the energy traces are detected the Echo Implant generates a counter field, reversing the modulation of that released by the ND-013. The two fields then proceed to cancel one another out, negating the effects of the ND-013
STRENGTHS
  • Protects the user from the potentially debilitating effects of the ND-013 "White Noise" Class LRWD and similiar technologies.
  • As a small subdermal implant it is incredibly difficult to locate and therefore destroy or disable..
WEAKNESSES
  • There is a small lag between the initial energy field hitting and the counter field being generated. Although this delay might only be a few milliseconds it means the user might feel some level of discomfort (OOC: the exact effects are upto the user).
  • Only works on energy fields designed to disrupt the users connections to the force, it does not protect you from any other form of force disruption such as voidstone..
DESCRIPTION

The galaxy is awash with war fighting technologies, a constant back and forth arms race where technologies and their counters flowed out of labs and research division in a stream it was almost impossible to keep up with. This was most evident in the creation of technologies surrounding force user's and their capabilities. The creation of a technology which can negate a force user's inherent advantages, their ability to manipulate that energy field that spread throughout the entire galaxy.

The one thing that no-one had considered was what happens when that technology is cracked and the holy grail has been achieved. One the genie is out of the bottle, it can't be put back in. Even John didn't give much thought to the consequences of the proliferation of the White Noise until he started to receive reports of the recent battle on Humbrine. The records complied by his agents showed just how devastating that technology could be, especially when running unchecked, so he designed a check on it. A small implant that could counter the energy fields put out the by the White Noise device.

He might not be able to put the genie back in the bottle, but at least he could make sure those he felt needed to be protected were.

I will admit, I hummed and hawed over this one for a little while.

Creating a technology specifically as a direct counter to another submission immediately set off my little Factory Judge alarm bells, and given who submitted this, there was also a small part of me wondering whether this was secretly a test to see if I'd catch something. :p

So I went digging.

And digging.

And… unless you've hidden the rule somewhere specifically to make me fail this test, I can't actually find anything prohibiting someone from creating a direct technological counter to another submission. Provided the technology itself remains within the Factory rules and is appropriately balanced, I don't see anything here that prevents the concept on that basis alone.

So, with the distinct and uncomfortable feeling that I may be walking directly into a trap…
