"For us, death is completely different than for you or the mortals. Especially for mortals. We are a warrior people, death is a part of our lives." she explained.

Ironically, she met the members of the Ashlan Crusade for the very first time precisely because she was hunting a demon who also killed countless Valkyrja. Although the main reason for the woman was the countless souls what the demon devoured, the Valkyrja is only the second. But it was not revenge either, but because the dragon could not capture more innocent and weak souls if it died. Over there in the Netherworld, death is final. Most of the souls and people they protect have died once before. There was no second chance; whoever dies there is final. Would the man understand if she tried to explain this?

Eina was created differently than the other Valkyrja, but to the best of her knowledge, her death would also be permanent. The others' deaths were permanent; what would have made her different? Only her birth was different and her shape-shifting was much better, much perfect, but in almost everything else she was exactly like her peers. She shook her head gently at the man's words. She will probably have to disappoint him. But after all, the woman did not belong in this world.

"I'm sorry but no. In almost three hundred years, I have never felt the need to take revenge on anyone." she answered. She didn’t even feel this when she was a neutral Force User; true she was still close to the Light Side, but because of her birth and nature she could not become a Lightsider, the Crown of Ashla and mostly Geiseric changed that. Because of her partner, her beloved, she was finally able to belong to the Light side, to Ashla side.

But it was her. It is a fact that she did not really understand much of the behaviours of mortals, but there were behaviours that she understood. That there are situations when she can't change a situation either. She is unable to explain something to the other because it will not change their mind. This was the situation now, the woman felt that if they met under different circumstances, the man would still want to fight. They would have met in any situation. There were those who were always just looking for a reason to fight. Even a warrior had to know forgiveness. Or that when something gets onerous, when they reach the point that those who allegedly saved her are taking advantage of them.

"Not when you're pushed into destruction, there’s always a point where you have to make a hard decision and find another way. Especially if you feel that the path you tread because of them is wrong." she said. "They saved you, they accepted you. If they are expected from you to sacrifice your life for them, it is not fondness, they are just exploiting you and using you for their purposes. I know the feeling of being alone, the desire to belong somewhere, to someone. If one expects revenge from you and does not help you with self-realization it is repression. There is another way! If we both survive today, I can show it and I don’t expect a reciprocity for it." she offered selflessly.

The cold wind caught her feathers and wings, blowing it to the side, as did her reddish hair. In fact Eina wouldn't have attacked, but it would have hurt her opponent. She watched as the spear headed for her. Like the man, this time she also changed tactics. Its wings were not only ornaments, they were for flying. As the spear headed toward her, Eina pushed herself off the ground and jumped into the air. She flies up a few metres with her wings. Then she started flying down from here.

She was prepared for the man to hold the spear up to impale her, so she would try to knock the weapon aside if that happened. She didn't want to hurt the man for now, just to overthrow him and send him to the ground. She wanted the other to surrender. The Valkyrja hoped she would have another chance here and not have to kill him like she was forced to kill his brother. When she arrives at the man, she tries to collide him and hit her opponent in the face, hoping it will be enough on the slippery ground to fall to the ground, possibly dropping his weapon.

As the two fleets approached and Asaaj watched telemetry come in, impact alarms blared moments before flashes hit the shields and outer hull, several hypervelocity shells vaporised in longs streaks down the starboard shield as they hit as a high angle, a clear shot being tricky due to the positioning of the Blood Knight behind one of the larger cruisers, but she wasn't entirely safe, due to needing her own firing solutions and a couple of round struck home clearly, partially bypassing the shield and blasting into the fore armour.

Asaaj looked at the damage reports, nothing too catastrophic as yet, but she couldn't afford to draw too much attention. "Roll the ship 45 degrees, our prow needs more angle on the firer" most of the incoming fire had come from one place so the ship took maneuvers to reduce the impact.

"Captain, I have calculated your request, there is a low success chance, but a two minute burn of 104% of my SLAM drive on this trajectory," and a dotted line appeared that winded out behind two of the demeton cruisers and towards the enemy flank, "beginning in four minutes, should put us in boarding range and allow me enough momentum to escape the worst of the enemy retaliation." The Night Queen, the AI of Asaaj's ship was standing in front of her with a concerned look on her face, concerned for her own welfare and that of her crew.

"chances of success please?"

"Parameter including my survival, 38%, Parameter including successful boarding and my survival 23%, Parameter including extraction of boarders, no successful parameters found."

Asaaj sighed and swatted the air as if it would make the numbers go away. "fine, continue to make calculations as the situation develops" Asaaj was displeased, her favoured tactics involved boarding operations, and on her previous command before being promoted to captain she had more flexibility, slip past in a tiny corvette and dock. But now, noone was missing a 500m long frigate with its engines burning at full tilt. There was just too many ships in the area to risk running off ahead and being vaporised, maybe a position on the front of the battle line wasn't right for her.

"any movement on those droid fighters?" she asked her flight commander. They had thus far stayed just outside her CAP range, clearly not wanting to put themselves into the PDS screen of her frigates, it was a shame, but it was smart. The numbers of those droids would be hazardous for her fighters to deal with and they had the patience to try and draw her out. But she wouldn't give in so easily.

The UES Pathfinder was sat in the upper tier of the defensive line, two extended blockades of ships that exerted a field of fire that was most useful to the operation's parameters. The blockade could anticipate and lay down a rate of progressive fire like a wall of destruction, countermeasures and shielding creating an almost impenetrable obstruction to any attempted attack.

Almost.

Captain Nyx of the Pathfinder squinted as she held court in her command chair, the comms array, and tactical consoles ahead of her. The slightly risen dais afforded her access to various ports and screens that gave detailed analysis, readouts, and some direct control if necessary. She was watching as the ship's advanced defence grid kicked in, maxing allowances for incoming projectiles and volley fire from the distant enemy ships, some small-time given to avoid the main bulk of the shots fired from Confederate and Empire alike. The array of shielding that allowed for this was a drain on power but as they were stationary, held in stasis in position, that was more than acceptable. Life support was sustained, and all crew manned their posts with great effect, the various automated systems working in a tandem with their organic counterparts.

She mused as the screen displayed large waves of enemy ordnance, each salvo making life trickier and trickier for the ship to deflect. The layered shielding was doing its job but sooner or later it would falter. This class of ship wasn't designed to take sustained damage from these larger ships, no matter how complex the shielding systems were.

"We have a reduced capacity in the shield array, Ma'am."

Nyx looked down from the main display, taking in the Eir Defense console. It was beginning to lose its capabilities.

"Hold the position as best you can, Ensign. We cannot afford to break this pattern. The Minister was very clear."

A large thud.

A calamitous array of sirens and alarms began to sing out across the consoles, emergency powers initiating.

"Report."

"Ma'am, we've taken a direct hit in two places. Aft and port sides have sustained damage."

"Get it sorted, Ensign. We will not lose this ship."

A large thud.

"I said to sort it, Ensign!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clump...clump...clump

The bridge of the UES Samrata was a far cry from the chaos of the Pathfinder. It was a far larger ship, capable of sustaining damage from most of the typical weapons found amongst the other nation-states of the galaxy. Oldo watched in calmness, weapons primed and returning fire on the main perpetrators of the offensive assault they were sustaining: The CNS Solar Pyre, the CNS Dawncrest and the CNS Bright Tear.

The full majestic array of ordnance was released upon the ships, the targeting systems of the battlecruiser managing the action with some great success. It was fulfilling its primary function; control the chaos. The hypervelocity cannons of the Bulwark fired, their bristling payload joining the hurtling mesh en route to the Confederate ships.

Cump...clump...clump

"Fire the solar ion cannons. Solar Pyre. I want that ship out of the race as soon as humanly possible." He knew who would be commanding this force. A devastatingly bright naval commander who would give no quarter and no room for error.

"Aim for the main body of the ship. Gut it."

He knew the payload would wreak havoc amongst capital ship lines, adding to the already impressive munitions wipe that was now descending upon the Confederate Lines.

The rest of the Line began to target freely, sending additional salvos towards the already engaging vessels from the Empire.

The cannons fired, two enormous bursts of energy bolting from them, headed with extreme prejudice at the Confederate Lines.

"Most excellent, prepare to fire again."

"Sir, the Pathfinder is taking evasive actions."

"What?"

"She's having to ascend sharply, two clicks."

Oldo grunted. This would bring a hole in the defence pattern. True, enemy fighters would still have fly into the onslaught of innumerable point defence batteries, not to mention to a special brand of pain that the Flak frigates would administer to any stray fighters plucky enough to try to climb above the Line and descend that way.

It was possible. Probable? He doubted it. He'd seen brave pilots achieve great things. He'd seen more pilots die doing stupid things.

Bravery was simply stupidity with the bonus of surviving.

"Tell Captain Nyx to get herself back into formation NOW!"

He stood, looking with great intensity as the display showed the lurching ascent of the Pathfinder, moving the bulk of her fuselage out of the way of the oncoming fire, several payloads still making contact with the shielding, the odd explosion catching as they clipped and denoted against the ship. It would be a miracle if it survived this for much longer. The hole she was leaving in the upper tier of the Line would be a dangerous one but one defended by a warren of bristling turrets and automated defence batteries. Perhaps the enemy would see it as a chance to fly over the blockade.

If they dared.

Fired two solar ion shots at the CNS Solar Pyre.
Fired large volleys of ordnance at CNS Solar Pyre, the CNS Dawncrest and the CNS Bright Tear.
The rest of the ships from within the Line have also fired, including the Bulwark's hypervelocity cannons and long-range turbo-lasers.
Eternal Empire ships have been freely engaged in the same responsive orders.
UES Pathfinder has ascended sharply, attempting to diminish the damage of incoming munitions fire. She has sustained heavy damage and the gap she has left in the two-tiered defence ( ---` _--_-) could be taken take advantage of if pilots are willing to face down the large batteries of assembled FLAK and missile fire that would be afforded to the formation in this style.
Solar ion cannons on Samrata have been ordered to recharge to fire again.

Volker commanded to the pilot once more past the handful of Mandalorian Supercommandos loaded into the drop bay with him and the violent roar of the engines coming to life sounded out behind his head as he bee-lined it for one of the hangar bays pried open as the Confederacy began to deploy its fighters. As it crested into full speed it would begin to emerge from its cloaked state and be feasted on by the point defense systems surrounding the open maw of the hangar bay. He could hear and feel the ringing of laser bolts and rockets beating against the ship before it burst through the magnetic shield and into the hangar bay with a violent metallic shriek as it skidded across the hangar bay's flooring in a horrific shriek of metal against metal.

There'd be no way back for them. Didn't matter. There'd be no way back for these Confederates either.

He opened his eyes beneath the Beskar helm before the troop bay burst open and he emerged with his disruptor rifle cradled tightly in his arms.

Setting foot unto the metallic floor of the vessel, he spoke up once more- this time transmitting back to Orion Fett and his unit all the same.

<"Time to burn.">

He uttered before stepping out of battered landing bay of the ship for a section of Mandalorians to follow in toe. With disruptor rifles clutched tightly to their person they began to reap the whirlwind of the Confederate troopers there to assail them. The Mandalorians would not be thwarted so easily, not here, not now. This boat was sinking with them all else be damned.

Wary of any Knights Obsidian, Volker reeled to life the Ysilamiri cradle to begin emanating its force-void field around him, to slick off whatever horrors the Force could inflict upon him as his Mandalorian Supercommandos began to make their way to the hard sealed blast doors holding them into the hangar bay. Even if the hangar bay was flushed, the atmo seals of their Beskar'gams in tandem with magnetic boots would keep them in the action. They just needed a means past the door.

They had more than enough baradium between them to punch through the door, however, Volker wanted to save every pound of it for the critical systems of the ship itself. That was, if they couldn't manage to seize control of it. The vessel intact along with whatever personnel they could potentially capture certainly was worth more than scrap.

<"Get a slice on this door. They're gonna be waiting for us, stack on each side. Move!"> Volker ordered, accompanying the word of command with a hand motion as he moved on to stack on the right side of the door. The first man on each side holstered their main weapon in favor of a scattergun as another Mandalorian from down the line on either side readied two grenades in their throwing hands. A thermal imploder and a flashbang.

The moments of deafening silence prior to the blast door prying open were hell in it self. As soon as the door heavy metal halves pried themselves apart, the bouquet of explosives were lobbed past the entry and golden bolts of disruption began to fill the hall on the immediate side.

Vengeance had arrived.

  • Shai, Siv and half of the Sixteens form a barricade in tunnel
  • Vulcan and Alora, with the other half, are ordered to get to the generator and plant seismic charges

lLcXg5L.png

The moment they were inside the new corridor, the unit moved like one person. Alora and Siv took point while Vulcan and Shai watched the rear for any pursuing Ultranauts. :: Contact, rear! :: She barked as they emerged and opened fire along with the other Sixteens accompanying them. Golden particle bolts sailed towards their enemy, exploding on impact and tearing debris from the shots against the walls.

:: Rotate, rotate! Keep moving! :: Giving Vulcan a nudge for him to follow, she backpedalled to let the other pairs hurl bolts at the enemy. A constant stream of blaster fire was thrown at the Ultranauts while the unit moved back. In an effort to cut them off temporarily, Shai took a pair of thermal detonators and tossed them at two roof supports. :: Fall back, clear out. :: As soon as they were clear, she hit the switch on her vambrace and the tunnel came down between the two groups. In total they had lost three people in the short skirmish. More than she would have liked, but less than she expected. She had no naïve thoughts that they would have a walk in the park against their enemy. Even the closed tunnel entrance would only slow them for a short while. She already expected that they would circle around or break up their forces to try and cut them off.

xta1WQr.gif

While they were covering the rear, it seemed that Alora and Siv had kept themselves busy. The Sixteens spread out with weapons at the ready, checking the rear, front and any extra corridors for movement. Shai made her way over to the duo standing around the downed Ultranaut. ”I want into their comms. Check every channel. They’re probably rotating frequencies and checking on their fireteams regularly. :: She spoke to them, her gaze checking the roofs and walls until she saw the destroyed camera. :: They got eyes on us. Check every channel they got for activity if you can. As for him… :: She looked back to the unconscious man beneath her. She raised her vambrace and lobbed two blaster bolts into the back of his head without hesitation. :: I want their officers alive, the grunts mean nothing. No prisoners. If it ain’t an officer you put ‘em down. :: She ordered them as her visor turned to every single one of them.

:: Generator complex. Our target’s the generator complex. There’s more than one path to it, so let’s move. Alora, keep hammering their systems. If you can get a way in, you take it. Otherwise see if you can jam ‘em. Alright ladies, let’s move out. ::

8cHqwM2.png

Taking point, Shai led the group through the mine tunnels at a brisk pace. Constantly taking different routes, she tried to make sure that the Ultranauts couldn’t pin them down. Every camera spotted was disabled, even if the group wasn’t even heading down that corridor. They encountered a few more Ultranauts accidentally, but they didn’t stop for even a moment. They couldn’t get bogged down.

Eventually they reached the tunnel that led to the generator room. :: Almost there. Stay frosty, it’s only one way in and out from here. We get in, set the charges, then we get out. If they box us in… well, we got rockets for a reason. :: She snickered through her comms as she jogged through the tunnel. :: Twenty troops stay with me, I’ll hold the entrance. Siv, you stay with me. The rest of you, follow Alora and Vulcan to the generators, make sure those seismic charges get planted. While you’re there, look for any quick exits. Exhaust ports, ventilation, whatever. We don’t wanna be anywhere near this mountain when it goes up. :: She ordered.

sFeo9o7.png

The platoon split up into two groups. Twenty stayed with their commander by the tunnel entrance to the generator while the other twenty moved with Alora and Vulcan. Several of them carried seismic charges to plant on the generator that powered the entire mine.

With only one way in or out, the risk was extremely high with a very likely possibility of dying if they couldn’t break the Ultranaut onslaught. That fight would also be brutal. But Shai and Siv were ready for it. Clan Krayt excelled in close quarters and hand to hand. The Sixteens also made their name known on Nirauan, getting close and personal with the Maw, even after a sonic bomb obliterated the city and decimated their numbers.

A wave was coming. They were going to be the rock that broke the wave.

:: Shields! And make sure your weapons are ready. New rules! They can’t get past us. Our vode need to get those charges set. This mountain is offending our people, so make sure they get rid of it properly. :: Her voice spoke loud and clear over the comms.

Switching her helmet’s annunciator on, she made sure that everyone heard her. ” Sixteens! What do we do?!”

”WE MAKE THE RULES!”

The shield wall was waiting. Repeaters and rifles laid in wait for their enemy while they acted as a barricade for their allies to plant the charges. There was only one way in and out. :: If we can draw them in for close combat, we’ll have them. So let’s see how close we can draw them in. I hope that beskad of yours is ready to rip and tear, Siv. :: She quipped with a snicker as she glanced to Siv.

Movement.

Eliz ducked behind a corner just as Kal and Senaar did. Ahead, more of the Epicanthi rebels. He watched their path, his helmed gaze hidden from view by the fractal coating of his suit. None of the trio moved as they let the rebels past. They weren't the target. Half a minute of boots on the ground as the small squad of miners, if they could be called a squad, moved past. Then another half minute of silence.

Once that minute passed the trio emerged from where they hid to move on. Brass and the others were waiting.

lLcXg5L.png

No one had seen the grenade get thrown. Surprise filled the trio as the frag went off, blasting them across the room. Shrapnel did little against the beskar steel they wore, but the suits weren't completely metal. The bodyglove underneath helped to protect against the stray blaster, but bits of metal were a different story. They were cut, bruised, and bleeding. None anywhere close to death.

But now they were pissed.

:: Everyone in one piece? :: Brass pushed herself up, groaning under her helmet. Though that part wasn't broadcasted to the squad. Her sensors lit up, scanning the area around them for there thus far unseen assailant. A trap?

:: Well, they know we're here then. Heh. :: Naast chuckled, though visibly winced as they got up. Bavar followed shortly after, and all three had their guns up on their surroundings. The sensors didn't pick anything up, so just a minor trap then? A crash pulled Brass's attention.

:: Fan out. Remember, keep your distance. :: Thermals active the trio spread through the room, scanning everywhere they could. It was getting more and more obvious that their prey was trying to be the predator, stalking through the shadows and setting off traps. Brass grinned under her helmet. Was that how they thought it was going to go, huh? She flipped a switch on her rifle, causing the barrel to hum to life.

She was the first to catch it. Heat. Movement. Brass shared the ping with the other two, but didn't act on it yet. Waiting until it was confirmed. The moment it was? She turned, bringing her blaster up and firing. Well, not much of a blaster at this point. A gout of flame erupted from the barrel instead, scorching the air, wall, everything it came in contact with. All to try and flush Rath out.

And into the firing line of the other two. Naast and Bavar waited, scattergun and wrist rocket prepped for the man's escape.

The rear was holding, well as much as it could. There were more enemies now than ever, take them down and several take their places. So far, the EE didn't rout them into a small place and shoot them right then and there. This elevated the youngster's relief. He is going to be in one piece at least for now.

The gunfight intensified into a thick sheet of plasma as both sides let loose with shots. Vulcan had two near misses, the plasma bolts came very near to his head on two separate occasions, he was glad he was not standing any inches closer, then all he would have been doing is lying on his back, winded.

Vod had grabbed and pulled him closer into the rear-guard line away from being too exposed. Vulcan stayed for a while before venturing back to the rear and resuming his concentrated fire. He may be small, he may be young, but he is not helpless.

The much-needed respite came when Shai cut the Ultranauts off. But he, himself knew that that may not be for long, the rocky barricade is only temporary and will be overcome. They have a lot to do in the interim, somehow, they lost only three, too many and he had felt relief that he was still breathing and not lying underfoot or under rubble. That would be very disappointing.

Still, the objective stands, destroy this mine and let the supply chain grind to a screeching halt. This means trying to get to the most viable spot to do so, anywhere where there is a power source. The calm did not seem to last as there was the order to plant explosives. Good because being trapped in a mine was claustrophobic and he wasn't willing to die in one either.

Vulcan pinged back an acknowledgement and began to move towards where the generator was located, a new satchel with Seismic Charges in them, in junction with this, they need to find any exits that they can reach if the call was made to detonate. Which Vulcan assumed would be imminent in the next several minutes, give or take.

As he attached them, he made sure to feedback any exits he could find back to Shai, including the noisy air vent to his left. He only paused to readjust his visor's night vision. Once done he moved to plant another. Wary of what will be breaking through the cave in and the barricade shield line. He made sure to show no fear, no hesitation.

He also added Magnetic Thermals to the mix too. He had them and he sure was going to use them. He's going to get out of this, alive and in the same state he went in, he hoped. His forehead twinged is a reminder of the mess he was in when he got off that warzone.

He admitted to himself, he enjoyed the smell of battle and shooting things, that is why he took the first chance he got to go into this mission in the first place.

THE LEGACY
Only here, in space, could he find true solitude, true clarity of mind, and comfort. Muffled explosions in the distance faintly reverberated as vibrations across his suit and basilisk war droid reminded him he was still alive. Fighters jetted pass in restless pursuit of one another and starships cleaved through the starry darkness with broadsides at their enemies. Hulls tore apart, dead crewmen seeping through the cracks with eyes in a stupor for the last time.

Only here, in the forbidding silence of the void, Davik remembered who she was. The child of the grave.

"Shayera..." he invokes her name and the blurred memory turns vivid on the reflection of his T-visor. "...my dear, dear... child--"

And then, suddenly, the silence is gone. Drowned underneath the cacophony of war as Orion crashes into the hangar of the ship, not long after Volker. Right behind him more Mandalorians under his command skid to a halt with their basilisks across the hangar's floor. He checked the life indicators of the Ysalamir strapped on the cradle before signalling for the rest of the squad to dismount along with him and follow in Volker's wake.

:: Volker! Sitrep. ::

The Mandalorian drew his beskad and weighted in his hand before dismounting and striding to Volker with his men.

  • Snipers take up positions to take out Ultranaut officers
  • The tank on the right flank is commandeered and used against EE’s left flank
  • Three Basilisks attempt to pick up the enemy tanks and fly away with them.
  • The others continue with their strafing runs on the enemy, using all of their available weapons
  • Soldiers reinforce both the right and left flank
  • Morgan orders Dax to bring in reinforcements and ammunition.

The exchange of blaster fire was nearly overwhelming. The Sixteens fired with everything at their disposal at the platoons of Ultranauts that pushed up with the tanks. With not much ammunition to waste, another volley of mortars wouldn’t be a smart move as the attacks started to stack against their position.

Coupled with the Gunship coming in to drop more troops in, they were all getting rather ticked off. But that didn’t mean that their own attacks had no effect.

:: Make sure those Howlers are staggered! Two at a time! Keep the fire comin’ down on ‘em! :: Morgan shouted as he peered over the wall and resumed fire with his particle rifle. Golden bolts sailed from the compound, every single one exploding on impact against whatever surface they encountered. Their Beskar could weather the shots from the Ultranauts for the most part, but even their armour had its limits.

:: Man down, man down! We need a medic over here! ::

:: Medic’s on the- :: The soldier’s voice was cut off as a high explosive round impacted the wall. Him and two others flew off the wall in various states of dismemberment and collapsed on the ground behind them. Their left flank was buckling hard under the pressure.

Morgan looked around the perimeter with a growing annoyance as his second in charge took over, barking orders left and right as he stood next to him.

<”Take out their leadership! Target the NCO’s first!”>

That was the final straw. Grabbing hold of the soldier, he yanked his helmet off and slammed his face into the wall they used for cover. ”Listen, kriffer, I’m in charge here!” He barked at the man before he slammed him into the wall again and let him fall to the ground. :: Snipers, move wherever you need! Make sure those officers keep their heads down! Hell, just shoot any kriffer who looks important! :: He added to the order.

EvwQFXk.gif

The fireteam on the roof quickly took off with their jetpacks and moved outside of the complexes area. Once they were out of sight they moved on foot into suitable buildings with their sniper rifles and took aim at the advancing forces. With quiet shots and barely any presence, they would fire down on the Ultranaut officers and other personnel.

:: I want six men on the left flank! I’m gonna kill someone if- ::

:: Tank! Tank on the right flank! :: Morgan whipped around to look at a tank breaching the wall, its repeater firing at any troopers caught in its wake. ” If that happens…” He grumbled to himself. Ultranauts poured in after it as the Sixteens took off to avoid getting hit. :: Take it out, dammit! :: He barked at them.

The six Mandalorians on the right flank immediately fired back at the Ultranauts as they hovered in the air with their jetpacks.

MChg4rP.gif

”Target the IFV’s!” Gira shouted as she and the others descended onto the tank. With missile launchers and jetpack missiles the Mandos targeted the IFV’s and foot soldiers, leaving the tank all alone. Their rifles made quick work of the Ultranaut escort while one got to work on cutting the lock of the commander’s hatch off with his plasma cutter. Once it was off, The commander was dispatched with a bolt to the head before a flashbang was tossed into the tank. With a loud “bang” the crew inside was overwhelmed by four Mandalorians dropping into it. The corpses of the crew were quickly deposited outside.

” You know how to use this thing?” Gira asked one of the troopers.

”Can’t be that hard, right?” The nervous chuckle in his voice was evidence of his confidence. She rolled her eyes as she took the commander’s seat and looked around. ”Full power, back!” She ordered. After stalling a few times, the tank lurched backwards into the other Ultranauts. :: I think this is the coaxial…” The buzz of the coaxial repeater was a good confirmation as they fired at the other Ultranauts. After nearly reversing into a building, the turret rotated to take aim at one of the enemy leading tanks.

”Gunner, enemy tank at ten o’clock! Loader, load AP!”

”Up!”

”Target acquired!”

”Fire!”

To everyone’s surprise, the shot wasn’t immediate. She looked down at the gunner with a look of confusion behind her visor. ”Well?”

”Hold on… ah, got it! Okay, let’s see… Lase-”

BOOM

The tank shook as the main gun fired an armour piercing round at the enemy tanks far off to the enemy’s right flank. After a second or two of sheer confusion as to what happened, the crew got back to the task at hand. ”Reload!” Gira shouted at the loader.

”UP!”

”Fire!”

With another ear-splitting boom, the commandeered tank fired both its main and coaxial guns at the enemy far off on their flank.

raaj5Xo.png

The Sixteens in the compound kept firing at the enemy, their volume of fire steadily decreasing as they tried to conserve ammunition. :: One shot, one kill! Save your ammo! :: Morgan ordered his unit. All around them, chunks in the wall were being used as firing ports. The strafing runs of the Basilisks continued to bombard the enemy with missiles and cannons.

Two would pass and pull back, followed quickly by another two. Their attacks were dangerously close to the complex courtyard and walls. But that was the risk Morgan took when he reported the Broken Arrow. After looking at another pass, he got an idea.

:: Howlers, new orders. I need three of y’all! One go around their rear! Drill a hole through their column if you have to! Howler Two and Three, grab hold of the tanks and fly them off! They ain’t a danger if they ain’t here! :: He ordered the squadron flying overhead. He wasn’t surprised by the confused looks of the troopers around them. :: The rest of y’all, hold the line! ::

The left flank, featuring only six men, fired at anything that wasn’t a Mandalorian from the walls. Missiles soared from a launcher towards the tank and IFV that attempted to move up. But despite their defense, they were not aware of the squadron ( Kuben Woods Kuben Woods ) looking for a means in.

On the right flank, the commandeered tank and four other troopers fought with everything they had to lock down their flank from the enemy.

Cnzym64.png

Morgan’s orders read loud and clear with the Basilisks. Three of the Basilisks broke off from the rest and continued with their low flight to get on the backside of the enemy attack. The first would attempt to touch down on the rear tank’s nose, making sure to put its full weight on its barrel and nose to break any attempt at attacking or maneuvering. Locking down, the Basilisk’s power would divert to its rotary cannon and spool up to release a devastating solid beam of golden plasma down the length of the column. The attack, designed to drill through the hulls and bodies of capital ships, would make quick work of the enemy tanks.

The other two descended down on the column with their enormous claws at the ready. They would each attempt to grab hold of a tank before attempting to fly off and hurl the tanks far away from the complex. The small arms fire and even anti-air attacks would be shrugged off by their heavy armour and shields as they set about literally carrying away their enemy.

Throughout all of the carnage, the howls of the Basilisks pierced the sky above the battlefield as the rest of the squadron continued to hammer away at the enemy with everything they had. Every now and then a droning roar would follow from them over their attacks.

bD8kSzI.gif

:: We need to draw ‘em in. : Morgan spoke to Dax as he crouched down behind the wall. :: Bunch ‘em up and draw ‘em in, let the Howlers take ‘em out quick and easy. I doubt this is all they got in store for us. :: Another explosion from a shell sent another Sixteen flying through the air in roaring pain. :: Check what reinforcements we got. And get us some ammo! :: He ordered Dax before peeking over the wall to fire at the approaching enemy.

Things were getting dicy.

A brow lofted lazily.

The answer received back from the Retribution was quite bold coming from someone that was yet to retake control of the planet. Vemric raised his chin slightly.
"So be it. Commander, kindly give them our answer to their request for surrender." he said calmly.
"Our entire answer, Sir?" Miles asked.
"Indeed."
"Yes, Sir."
Miles said with a slight grimace before he turned towards the comms panel and hailed the local, encrypted line. "All ships, open fire, full ordnance, upon the Eternal fleet. Halt any sign of advance from any ship. Requiem to concentrate fire upon the ENS Retribution, remove anything that seems to be protecting it while we're at it. The Eternity to keep focusing fire upon the ENS Blood Knight. The Deceptor to loose ordnance on the ENS Audacious. All Cruisers and Frigates to loose fire upon any escort craft surrounding flagships. Flak Corvettes to kindly deal with any bombardment that makes it's way to our position. Attack Corvettes to stay put and deal with anything that comes within range. M3's to remain operational and all vessels prepare for Enemy Fighter deployments. Toggle relevant shields at will and once exotic weaponry has fired, get ready to fire again. No quarter, Ladies and Gentlemen." he ordered in almost one breath, letting out a huff at the end.
"Those poor souls." a new Ensign muttered next to Miles.
"Don't let him hear you say it." Miles whispered.
"Why?"
"The amount of lives we lost not too long ago, really did a number on him. I doubt he's going to let it happen again." Miles answered, still in a whisper before he straightened up. "Orders given, Sir."
"Very good." Vemric answered, still looking at the slowly advancing enemy fleet.

The sight was quite spectacular, even though it could not be heard. The viewport lit up like fireworks on Life Day as all the ships fired off simultaneously. The Requiem shuddered as her own magnificence was unleashed upon her enemies. The void of space was silent but the sheer message of power that shot from the collective barricade in unison was still loud and clear...

We will not yield.

"Sir, the Confederates are bypassing jamming sequence and have opened fire upon the UES Pathfinder." Pol said as scans came through.
Vemric slowly turned to face the bridge. "There is an old Atrisian saying that I do value quite significantly, Officers. 'No matter how the wind howls, the mountain cannot bow to it.' We shall not bow either. Minister Oldo and his line are more than capable of weathering a breeze. Especially against those that have shied away from their duties once before when they were needed most." he said, hands folded behind his back. "Now, where do our shields stand?" he then asked, turning back to the viewport.
"Running at full integrity throughout the ship, Sir. With us staying put, we can let the generators run at full capacity." Miles answered.
"Good man." Vemric said.

Just then, the spectacular light of a Star blitzed past, straight in the direction of the Confederate lines. Vemric's brow lofted once more.
"The Samrata had loosed her solars, Sir." Miles reported.
"Well, you did say no quarter, Commander. So I'm not expecting the Minister to disregard that order." Vemric said, sounding almost amused.

Another blitz.

This time, from the Eternal fleet. Not the same as the solar shots of the Samrata, but similar enough.
"Where did she hit?!" Vemric snapped.
The bridge was bustling.
"She hit the Revenant, Sir." the Ensign, Derrick Loch, an 18 year old boy from Hefi, spoke up from where he stood behind Miles, looking at the scans, his youthful face stoic.

A child still.

"Make contact. I want full report." Vemric ordered.

How many more lives?

enclavediv4.png

Captain Aoki Sawao rose from his seat in the command chair where he had been keeping an eye on the engagement as the Revenant had been letting loose on the ENS Illustrious of Malanves Lagrange Malanves Lagrange 's contingent.

The blast streaking from the same contingent's flag was unmistakable.
"Cut all engines now!" he barked.
The crew didn't ask questions. They just did as ordered.

The ion drives cut out abruptly, allowing the gravitational pull of the planet to drag down the tail, angling the prow upward.

But not fast enough.

The plasma shot didn't hit the mark full, but it did hit. A shudder went through the keel of the ship as the shields flashed bright against the ordnance hitting them.

Within the belly of the ship, plasma bit into a hallway, destroying droids instantly while the skin melted from an Ensign as she clung to a panel screaming before getting whipped into the void before bulkheads slammed shut to prevent the vacuum from ripping the ship apart. Klaxons blared throughout the ship as overhead lighting flickered for about 200m into the ship before it stabilised.

"Gun thrusters, if we still have them before we fall to death." Sawao ordered. "What's our damage?" he asked as his order was being executed.
"No major structural damage, Sir. Shields took the brunt of the beating, but we can't take another hit like that. We lost some droids and organic personnel before bulkheads sealed off, however, Sir." Bridge Officer Zella Hughes answered.
"I want a roll call done. I want those names for Sitrep. In the meantime, let the Governor know we have taken some damage and need to swap out places with the Genesis to assess our losses." the Captain ordered.
"Yes, Sir."
"If we are still able to fire M5's from the back, then do so. We still have a dog in this fight. They'll realise they can't get rid of us this easily." Sawao said, his dark eyes burning like embers.

Eternal Glory to those who persevere.

Kit: FS-18 Omega Phase Assault Rifle, KC-95 Blaster Pistol, Sk-RS Mk. IV Armor, Nelvaanian Longsword
Forces: One company of Ultranauts - Two platoons in the tunnels

Maintaining contact with the enemy wasn't too difficult a task to accomplish. The Mandalorian warriors could only go as fast as their slowest could. Unhindered by shields, and not having to watch their backs, the Ultranauts surged after the enemy with a discipline and speed that the interlopers were doing their utmost to match. Blasterfire and black-clad bodies filled the corridor in front of her. The Mandalorian shield-bearers split the scene; their beskar bore the brunt of Ultranaut aggression, each shield pockmarked by dozens of scorch marks. More.

War had been on the cards from the jump. Fortunately, the Ultranauts had brought enough ammunition to see that war waged proper.

Throwing herself into cover, Corin let the bolts fly. Her comlink crackled in her ear between bursts, the voice of first platoon's leader cutting through the din like a white-hot knife. "Major, we have a problem." Taking a knee, a bolt of molten gold striking the wall in front of her face, Corin kept firing. "Talk to me, one-six. What's the problem?" There was a pause, then, the Lieutenant began to run down the list. Thankfully it wasn't that long. "I'm afraid cutting off the intruders won't be possible, sir. They're moving too fast. We've kept pace so far, but whenever we try to confront them, they refuse to face us."

His voice wavered as a string of blasterfire laced the space between Cor and the opposite wall. Light flared as an Ultranaut took a hit on his pauldron, but the armor did its job. Almost as good as Beskar, these suits. "Any idea where they're running to?" Cor asked, leaving cover as a turn in the corridor freed up her teams. "Best guess? The generator complex. We're between them and the main concourse, unless they decide to double back, but then they'd have to go through you." Corin huffed despite herself. "Not likely, lieutenant."

"My thoughts exactly, sir." Listening closely, Cor could positively taste the amusement in his voice. Life-and-death situations didn't mean much to Ultranauts after all. Every new recruit that joined the Corps knew they were signing their life away in service to the Empire. They were all of them, each and every one, dead men walking.

The Mandos were, too, only they didn't know it yet.

"Think you can make it there before they do?" Cor continued, a sudden explosion to her front cutting off the lieutenant's reply mid-sentence. The ground shook and the stone split as Shai Maji Shai Maji 's charges went off. Cor felt a rush of air brush past her, a solid weight that tried to shove her backwards. She sunk lower on her legs, grounding herself. Her ears rang as she straightened up.

The tunnel was shot, the supports collapsed. A few curses followed, some from the Major herself.

"Say again, Actual? You're breaking up."
"I said 'get there before they do,' one-six. And don't spare the horses."

"Copy that, Actual. One-six out!"

Gesturing to her fireteams, she waved them back the way they had come. As cowardly as the move was, Corin had to give it to them. The enemy was a crafty devil. Crafty, yes, and not long for this world. Not long at all.

------
Dropping the connection, Lieutenant Simko waved his fireteams forward. Ghosts now, they ran their way through the Mining complex, bloodhounds scenting exactly that. Blood. Blood was in the air; theirs or the enemy's, the lieutenant couldn't tell. It didn't matter. They had a job to do, and he'd be damned if he was going to let a bunch of Beskar-clad korcsok stop him.

Entering the generator complex via a different route, the fireteams spread out around the backup generator. They were too late to stop the enemy reaching the other one, it seemed. Grimacing, the lieutenant ordered his troops into defensible positions a moment before the first saboteur wandered into view. Two more flanked him. The Ultranauts welcomed them the only way they knew how.

------
Creeping forward, Corin did her best to stay low as her small force approached the generator complex a minute or two behind the enemy. Risking a glance, the Major was distressed to see the foe had already made their shieldwall. Rifle- and repeater barrels lined the wall, promising death to anyone stupid enough to approach. Brave enough, not stupid, Corin reminded herself, waving her Ultranauts up. Given the close confines and the heavy armor they wore, their chances of sneaking up on the enemy were next to non-existent.

As if on queue, the first rifle spoke up, toppling one of her men backward, his faceplate a smoking ruin. Clean. Precise. What followed next was anything but.

”WE MAKE THE RULES!”

Flattening herself against the nearest wall, Corin returned fire as the enemy barrage began. Two more of her men fell in the opening seconds, dead or near enough as to not matter. Sparing them little thought now that the heat was on, the Ultranaut managed to bounce a shot off a Mandalorian helm. A shield rose as the figure corrected his mistake, a rifle barking in response. Ducking into cover, Corin watched as her troopers scattered for cover, some pausing only long enough to provide what suppressing fire they could for their brothers and sisters.

"We make the rules?!" Someone shouted over the clash, incredulity in his voice.
"How long do you reckon they've been practicing that little bit of theater?" Another crowed, his KC-47 biting off each word.

Long enough to get good at it, Corin thought. Waving Corporal Lugo closer, she said, "Care to re-introduce us, corporal?" Nodding his head, Lugo signalled to a trooper across from him. Understanding blossomed in the trooper's eyes, eyes lost behind a visor, and she nodded back. Reaching for their rigs, the pair peeled some grenades off. Covering them as best she could, Corin waited for a lull in the enemy fusillade. Lugo and the trooper waited, too.

When it came, the pair leant out and threw their grenades high in an attempt to arc them over the enemy shieldwall. One fell short, bouncing and tumbling towards the Mando line, stopping a handful of feet short. The other, however, flew true. Cor saw it disappear behind the line of shields.

And then Hell, as it was wont to do, broke loose.

His spear whizzed past the Valkyrja as she used her wings to fly backwards, Tyr's eyes focused upon her as he watched her, seeing as her wings began to propel her towards him. In any case, he knew that she would expect some type of piercing manoeuvre like he was getting charged by some large beast. Instead, he rolled to the side and activated his grappling hook from his wrist launcher.

"Then your ignorance of our ways shall be your undoing. You claim to know the way of the Mando'a but apparently, you just reach for some facade of understanding. You are not of this realm, and if there is anything that the people of the Mortal plane can claim, is that we don't go down without a fight."

Tyr planted his feet into the ground and dragged Eina down from the sky, using her advantage of flight against her by bringing her down to earth. He knew that her wings had to be strong if they were able to carry the weight of a humanoid and armor, or mayhap it was aided by the magics the women knew how to manipulate.

Pulling out the pistol from where he laid it on the snow he pointed it towards the woman, "You fought well, and I would have been honored to fight by your side, but alas the fates have planted us against one another, I pray your Valkyrja will bring you to a better place..."

"Wait!" A voice came from behind the man as his finger squeezed slightly. Glancing back he saw a man clad in Mandalorian armor, his helmet off, and his eyes were seared from some type of explosion. "Do not continue down this path young verd.... please see the err in your ways and let the woman live, she has only tried to defend those who cannot fight from the dangers of war, do not let the rage of one Mandalorian destroy our chance at peace."

The older gentleman put a hand on Tyr's shoulder, "Let this one go, you will forever be haunted if you continue down this path."

The younger man did not know if he could forgive, although this man had seen much more than he had, and he was telling him that the time to fight was over, this was strong words coming from one whose life had ultimately been bathed in war.

The steely eyes of Tyr stayed upon the older Mandalorian, his blaster still pointed towards the Angel, the tip hovering towards her before he gave a sigh and holstered his pistol away. "There will be more bloodshed today, and many of my brother's souls that will need bearing. You have much to learn, but know that our bonds in life are the most important connections one can have in the mortal realm. Bear those of us who have passed on into a better life for this your debt shall be repaid." All this he said with a hand outstretched towards the woman, offering help to her feet.

He would forgive.

Location: The Generator Room in... The Mine, Panatha

Speak of the Wardog! Alora looked up at their command as she drew near. The din of battle not far off echoed down the shaft/corridor they were in. Thankfully it wasn't too close -- because then it would have been harder to hear.

Shooting an unconscious guy wasn't exactly inspiring, but they weren't an unarmed civvie either; so Alora couldn't really complain. Last thing they needed was him waking up and pulling the pin on a grenade or something when no one was looking. They were invading, not barging in to a party uninvited; things got messy.

"This is me you're talking to -- I'm already jamming them." The nearby cameras anyway. With Shai wanting them to move out, Alora didn't spend any more time riffing; they had people under fire and the clock was ticking.

As they move, Alora kept her eyes on the surrounding tech. She'd overload every camera she could, but was also tasked with trying to slice her way in to their network. Not exactly easy to slice into a hostile network when you were sitting still; it wasn't any easier when you were constantly jogging through a mine. A challenge never kept Alora from pounding away until she was through before. No reason to start today.

"Siv, deck up," the gunmetal-violet Mandalorian called out as she darted down the passageway with Vulcan and ahead of the rest. Alora transferred over a program to slice into the nearby camera network. It could still use a good connection to the network, but might give Siv's group some solid intel. Like, maybe find a way for them to not be forced to stick around for the fireworks.

Vulcan seemed really gun-ho about their mission to reach the generator and blow themselves up too. Okay, the mission wasn't to blow themselves up, but under the circumstances with the only way out filled with crazed Ultra-Astronauts (some kind of weird... uber naut) and the idea being to blow up a mountain, you could see where 'blow yourself up' came in, right?

"Alright, four teams of five," Alora declared as they sauntered into the generator room. She turned to five the nearest group, "See if there's another way out near this entrance, and keep an eye on unwelcome visitors. No one's getting by Shai, but no surprises, understood?" The other three could calmly fan out and secure the room while they helped find a way out that didn't involve turning into ghosts.

As Alora strode down around the generator, she looked up at Vulcan as he busily threw explosives all over the target. Like, really saturated that thing. Nothing wrong with a little enthusiasm though. Well, maybe one thing -- when it was the Uber-nauts being enthusiastic. "Contact!" Alora snapped to drop everyone into defensive positions with weapons at the ready to return fire.

Both disruptors slid out of their holsters as Alora slid across the floor on one leg to reach cover. "Good news, V," Alora quipped as she plinked some vapor-juice at their new friends, "there's another way out." 'Cause the mean people hadn't come in through the same door they had. Bad news was the other way out was kind of occupied. Might still be able to use the fan Vulcan saw, but now they had to contend with the fact these unwelcome guests could disarm the party-favors. "We got to clear this room one way or the other, V, or we can't leave. I'm open to suggestions."

With a gesture Alora signaled for a group to move up and keep the Eternals from advancing.

"Cover me." Alora bolted out of cover and across the room with one disruptor holstered and the other plinking at the enemy as bolsters filled the room. Several clipped her full-metal suit and nearly toppled her before she dropped back behind a console.

"Keep 'em busy. This'll just take a minute." Or two. Alora pounded a panel off the console and reached in to perform open-circuit surgery.

Now that we are almost done with our mission you want us to retreat! I'm sorry dalyc verd but we are not leaving here empty-handed. We know that reinforcements are on the way and if we let them take the compound back we will never see inside of it again. Are you willing to let the enemy, who half of whom probably don't have the guts to even admit to their crush that they like them back into this bunker? My vote-"

<"Are you really arguing in the middle of battle?">

Gwyn winced as he rebuked them. Gwyn had wanted to protest to Omen's assumption that she had suggested running away, when she was meagerly suggesting fall back for further planning. Alas, Kranak had made up his mind not to follow the suggestion anyways, <"We improvise! Focus on the battle! We are not turning back. Fight on and finish the mission. Stay frosty, vode! We got this. We are continuing with the mission as is. We will kill that witch when we find her. Focus on locating the power generators.">

Gwyneira nodded to his commands. So Kranak was being a risk taker. Then again, Gwyneira could be a risk taker as well. So what was holding her back here? She gulped. Was it because she feared her failure? Did she perhaps fear the death of this squad, and because she could not do something to stop it? Yet, she knew she trusted her buir, her commander, as well. Kranak was a thoughtful and wise person; patient and calculating. If he thought this was a risk worth taking, Gwyn could quiet her qualms in this trust. She spoke, concise as she could, through her comlink, <"Very well, al'verde. I trust your judgement.">

Kranak had never let her down before.

Turning off the comlink, she took notice of Kranak's disdain of infighting. Yet, she muttered bitterly as if her comlink was still on, "I was not suggesting a retreat, Mr. Ill Omens. I'm no coward!"

With a disgruntled, long sigh, she continued on. With the lights on, it was far easier to navigate. Still using her flamethrower to test each hall for explosives, and following the explosives, she marched through the long halls with determination. She met more ultranauts in battle, and she won every time. Aside them, however, there was little opposition. As she continued chasing the explosives, she eventually found herself standing in front of a sign that read Break Room. She paused. Was there anything in there to potentially help? Maybe some cameras? She blinked, extending her Engineer Vambrace and brandishing the scomp link to crack the code and break in… but… She retracted the scomp link, pulled her arm back, then extended her other hand. An explosive was slapped onto the door frame, and she darted back. She clenched her fist, setting the explosive off and blasting the door open. She dashed in, pulling her pistol out and pointing it around. The break room was empty. She lowered her Borealis pistol again, then… she felt it. She felt it. The Force warning her of something, some kind of watch. She glanced around, looking from left to right. The break room was empty! Was it danger from the outside. The two tables for eating, centered left and right from when one entered the door, were clean and orderly. She activated all the alternative visions on her buy'ce. There were no heat signatures. Yes, it was a threat from outside. But what? It was the Force, no doubt. She placed a finger over the brim of her helmet and tapped it in thought. She needed to draw it out.

She turned to the open doorway and extended her Warrior Vambrace. She shot several other explosives around the door, then she set about slipping some under the tables as well. She pulled the Ultranaut comlink out and made sure it was turned off, slipping it inside her belt pack again. She walked to the left of the room, turning and standing behind the table and in front of a fridge. Whatever she felt, she could only sense this kind of thing this clearly without it being Force Sensitive. Was it a Warden? She bit her lip. Wardens could spell trouble for her squad if… That witch was bad enough.

An idea flickered through Gwyn's mind. A memory. One of the things that had drawn her into the Wardens all that while ago… She pulled out the Ultranaut comlink and turned it on. As she did so, she pulled out a chant, a code, from her memories. She spoke, and she hoped. Whatever she was sensing, it would follow the outside who quoted such words of secrecy…

"The Force is a chain, thus I seek Freedom.
Through Freedom, I find Truth.
In Truth, I find Purpose.
From Purpose, I gain Strength.
With Strength, my Will prevails.
I shall break the chains."

It was a gamble, but Gwyn was willing to bet. Like Kranak, she was a risk taker. If it meant figuring this mystery out, if it meant answering the Force's nagging, if it meant protecting her fellow vod from whatever danger she sensed… she would do it.

The Dark Lord of the Sith watched with detached disinterest as the Mandalorians threw themselves into the nexu's den. The first barrage of laser fire approached, aimed dead set on hitting the Dark Lord square in the chest. But as the first of these levied blasts came within a meter of the Dark Lord's person, it violently veered off course and struck the far wall. The second followed suit, slamming into the ground. The third flew up into the ceiling. The others that came within spitting distance of the Butcher King were dealt with in a similar manner, redirected away as though magnetically repelled.

Then the lead Mandalorian's boot connected with the Dark Lord's armored brow, a resounding clang echoing across the throne room as metal slammed against metal. For a brief moment, between the cacophony of elsewhere battle and the roaring dirge of their own struggle, there was a deafening silence as the last vestiges of the blow faded away in the distance. Slowly, the baleful eyes hidden in the shadowed recesses of the Dark Lord's helmet swiveled to fixate on Siv Dragr as time slowed to a meager crawl.

His arm shot out, like a viper's bite, to try and wrap His strong muscular fingers around the armor plating surrounding Siv's leg; the same leg that had just struck Him across the head. If the Dark Lord was successful, He would swing up and then slam the Mandalorian warrior into the ground at His feet. Should His speed not compare to the flight power of a Mandalorian's jet pack, then He would reach out with the Force to try and send the Mandalorian warrior tumbling through the open air.

His most immediate concern was the Empress at His back, sliding in like a serpent to strike whilst His attention was elsewhere. He turned His body to face her as she approached, Her blade biting the flesh beneath the crux of His arm and at the underside of the arm itself. Immediately, black blood oozed forth from the split skin and dripped down onto the floor. Faint trails of smoke could be seen rising from the drops of blood, the marble melting away from the sheer heat of the liquid placed upon it.

More than that, the Dark Lord could feel the blood-poison coursing through His veins from the point of infection. His organic defenses rushed to counteract the intrusion, but even as the wounds closed up and faded into silver scars the war against the poison would last for hours. Blood-poison brought with it an elevated sense of agony, driving its victims mad with pain as it spread throughout their entire cardiovascular system. But the pain that radiated out from the Dark Lord from the experiments He willingly performed on Himself utterly dwarfed the added pain brought on by the blood-poison.

Pain was the scalpel of creation, more pain would only further serve the Dark Side.

The Dark Lord took inventory of the foes arrayed against Him; the three Mandalorian warriors and the renegade Eternal Empress. He would have laughed if He were capable of emotion such as mockery, but all He could do was stare on with expressionless eyes.

"The babes of Mandalore fought more fiercely before they were dashed against the stones, kyr'adade." The language spoken among the Mandalorians, so common and natural to their ears, sounded harsh and unnatural when spoken by their greatest adversary; the Skanah Aru'e.

"Your ancestors must weep at the sight of you."

Without warning, the Dark Lord swung His arm around and tossed His massive sword towards the furthest Mandalorian; the one that was called Volo Skaigh. The blade, manipulated through the air by the Dark Lord's own twisted will, attempted to spear the Mandalorian through the gut. When avoided, the blade would flip around through the air and pursue either the same Mandalorian or fixate on a closer target.

With His hands freed, the Dark Lord unleashed a shockwave out from Himself that broke the ground He was standing on and caused the floor to ripple like water as the wave rushed out from the epicenter.

Then He descended on the Eternal Empress, hands tensed like raptor's claws, to tear her limb from limb.

Summary: Thonn detaches from the conflict, shoots three NPCs, and moves further into the complex to search for the generators.

Omen, he could agree with. If he cared for self-preservation, he would have never become a Si'kahya after all. When Thonn had arrived, it was with the hope and intent of doing battle – he wanted to kill this Sith. Once accosted by the force wielding menace, he could only assume had been responsible for the traps and veil of darkness, he only wanted to see her slain and revel in the victory it would be.

The audible battle outside increased in intensity, and the blasts of mortar fire could be heard in bursts; from afar, and then nearly on their position as the two forces did battle. It was muffled from their position within the building, but the cacophony of cannon fire and explosions was telling of the intensity of conflict going on. It was a point of no return. As he saw it, they'd need to find those generators to tilt the battle towards an Enclave victory. Failure implied defeat, and he hadn't arrived to lose.

Neither apparantly did Sergeant Omen:
This is Omen Mereel. Declaring war on a nation of force-wielding Witches would be considered unwise but the Enclave did it. Invading this deathtrap of a city would be unwise but here we are. Now that we are almost done with our mission you want us to retreat! I’m sorry dalyc verd but we are not leaving here empty-handed. We know that reinforcements are on the way and if we let them take the compound back we will never see inside of it again. Are you willing to let the enemy, who half of whom probably don't have the guts to even admit to their crush that they like them (cough, cough, Lilanna Kelamvor Lilanna Kelamvor Lilanna Kelamvor Lilanna Kelamvor ) back into this bunker? My vote is we dig in and let the enemy just try to get back into this place. We will become the rock, their waves crashing against us and yet we will stand firm. I’ll go in front and sense the mines if need be, just please Kranak… Don’t abandon what our brothers and sisters died trying to get to...”
Thonn agreed heartily, though he wouldn't voice it. He'd nothing to add, and the point had been well made. Combat did not work under democracy, and the attitudes of both were mere suggestion unless made order by Kranak. Until then, Thonn would remain ready and eager to engage the Sith before them. If given instruction to fight, he'd have done so with glee; but that would not be the case. Kranak spoke, and his given orders would involve neither scenario:

<”~Thonn, Omen! Continue the mission and find those power generators!~”>
"Clear and understood; I'll move forward in pursuit of the objective." He responded. Though he had been itching to fight, he undertook the given instruction with no less enthusiasm. Thonn was a trooper through and through, always eager for a battle yet steadfast in his duty. Tactics were for the Alor'ad to decide, and there was no question that completing their objective was of highest importance. The risen dead were no longer an obstacle, with Runi's countermagic rendering them inanimate once more. With his rotary cannon spun up and held at the ready, Thonn moved forward with urgency, pressing forth into the complex in search of the generators.

He hurried down the hall, his barrels spinning down once he had moved out of sight and fire of the Sith he'd left behind. Rushing forth, he could hear audible cues of ultranauts around the corner; he made his approach against the wall towards the junction. With the cannon trained down the hallway, Thonn began to strafe around it, bringing more and more into his field of view and arc of fire. Seeing the hint of an armoured figure around the corner as he moved, he immediately spun up the barrels of his rotary cannon and stepped to the side for clear view and aim. It was a group of three, and while they had their weapons drawn Thonn had been far more ready. An immediate burst of shots from his cannon took them down without a shot returned his way.

Stepping over the recently slain bodies, he continued down the hallway hastily before more reinforcements could arrive. Which he was well armed against; the sheer volume of fire produced by his rotary cannon was comparable to that of a squad outright. But fighting wasn't his mission; taking down the generators was. There'd be plenty of time to make the Empire and it's supports pay after he'd blown up the karking thing.

He'd no clue where the generators were. Clearly nowhere near him, so he'd keep moving through the hallways in his search, his cannon kept in battle-ready position. If his vode found some hint of the location, all the better; in the meantime, Thonn set to searching for the generators himself.

Lyssa Io

The Daughter of Blades
Following: Ted's team...

These Disruptors were something else.

Sure, they fired slow, but generally, they killed anything they hit in one or two shots, being equivalent to Class D Disruptors. Ted himself had been sure to keep up suppressing fire but it was extremely difficult to keep up with the Mandalorian assault teams, who seemed to have an answer for every tactic. Thrice now they had been forced on the defensive, retreating back as Mandalorians pressed the attack through the streets, each bent on crushing Panatha. That Ted hadn't lost anyone else yet was a miracle.

They stayed in the game though. Barely. The Conjoined helped by calling Lightning from the sky, striking individuals with fierce, heavy purple bolts and exploding them...

Still, those Disruptors made quick work of some otherwise beefy Motherfethers who had put all their perk points into Heavy Armor and Two Handed Weapons. They didn't fire regular Tibanna Gas powered bolts. That was a resource that had a definite price tag on it, even for House Io. Plus, Tibanna Gas as a resource was difficult in general for them to come by. Almost all their Tibanna so far was scavenged or stolen from pirates or battlefields as a result, or donated. So they had had to turn to alternate sources of death. Micro dynamos. Solar Power. In this case, Magnetics. Wanna know how House Io could build both The Shield of Sacrifice and the CNS Flesh Memory? Scavenged, recycled materials for the most part. From a hundred different, devastated worlds and battlefields. Only the most essential parts like the electronics and engines had actually been paid for. Anonymous crowd funding from interested parties both within the CIS and the Eternal Empire had covered the rest.

Ted fired an explosive shot from his DC-15LE and watched as it exploded through the visor of a Mandalorian, felling him as they all took cover behind a shattered tank. More were coming all the time...

Ted needed a plan, and fast. These Mandalorians were good. Even the Model 1's they had been trained by might be given pause in a way even The Bryn'adul had never managed. Only two squads, and they were clearly everything their rep stated. Ted and his team were running low on ammo for regular rifles, and the Disruptor clips had to be recharged after being emptied, and that could take a bit during battle. Their grenades were getting ever closer, and only the fact they still had room to retreat and cover and concealment had kept them alive against such expert forces. Otherwise, he and they might have been dead minutes ago. Stevens had barely survived a Mandalorian with a stealth Generator and he was now bleeding badly. Amanda had lost a whole arm, and while it would regrow, it would take a while, limiting her to pistols and further worsening their situation. Ted provided cover fire when possible but he was having to check his shots, for he was on his last clip...

Ted barely managed to react as he saw sets of invisible footprints cross through dirty, blood ridden streets, the sounds of the Basilisk War Droids in the distance picking up. He opened fire, managing to hit the three man stealth team that had been about to flank them. Now he would really have to be paranoid if he wanted to defeat them...

But Ted had been smart. His retreat had lured the Mandalorians closer to the sniper nest one of his squads was hunkered down in.

"Hey Conjoined!" Ted called out. "I got an idea!"

"All ears..." The catsuit clad Witch said pleasantly as she exploded another Mandalorian with lightning from above.

Get a bunch of lightning strikes around them!"

The Conjoined paused, grinned suddenly.

"As you wish!" she said, flesh rippling as she channeled the Dark Side.

The lightning bolts came down rapidly, and in a circle around the Mandalorian squads advancing on them, preventing them from moving forward. Ted grabbed his comlink.

"Boogeyman-1, this is Spearpoint! I need fire on grid X02-57!"

"Copy!" came the other end.

Shatter Rifle fire started hitting the Mandalorians surrounded by rapid lightning strikes. The slugs were accelerated to extreme levels, slamming into chest armor. Some were wearing Beskar, but they were still knocked down from sheer kinetic impact. Ted directed concentrated, but staggered volleys of Disruptor fire on the least compromised enemy squads, turning them into meat puddles. They died screaming in horrific pain.

Finally, whatever Mandalorians hadn't been wiped out by the sniper fire, or the Disruptors, had been killed by the Lightning strikes...

Ted turned, Stevens, and Brennan dead, smoking holes in their chest. They were five down now.

Comms chatter suddenly came in, requesting their immediate presence back at the Generator compound. The Mandalorians had overridden the exterior. The EE had arrived with reinforcements, but more was needed.

"Chit..." Ted breathed, armor damaged noticeably. By this point. They were essentially at half strength. Amanda had survived, thankfully.

"Alright everyone, let's get ready to head back. We've tasted Mandalorian blood out in the open. Not even the other platoons can say that..."

"I believe I know of a way that will increase our odds." The Medical Nuetralizer spoke up...

"Oh?" Ted asked.

"Darth Xiphos anticipated another attack on Panatha. So she persuaded the Epicanthix and the EE Military to let her leave a surprise in a decommissioned storage facility under the streets close to here. Given the severity, I say it warrants springing it."

"And when were you planning on telling us?" Ted asked

"In the event the battle started to turn. Which is now. It was strictly need to know basis. If you were captured before such a point, and knew, the surprise would be spoiled."

"What the hell is the surprise?"

"A big fething robot with loads of big fething guns..." Amanda answered innocently.

Ted shrugged.

"Yeah, I'd see why you want that as a secret..." Ted agreed. "Okay, where's the big fething robot?"

"Two clicks from here. Part of the reason we were sent out as an advanced unit was to distract the Mandalorians and make them focus on us while we went full psycho on them."

"A big fething robot will kill lots of fething people..." The Conjoined said, clearly turned on by the prospect of killing in general.

This caused every other surviving squad member to back away from her slightly.

"We go for the robot. This had better be a damn good robot, Amanda..."

"It's a Fortress Nuetralizer."

They were all given pause.

"They let her hide that here?!" Ted said.

"The Model 1's helped kill many soldiers of the Ashlan Crusade when they came here. The chance of being invaded again was incredibly high. Better to have a giant killer robot for when it happened, even if it did come from someone they didn't and still don't fully trust." Amanda replied.

"Lead the way..." Ted ordered, stripping the dead of all portables and energy clips. The Conjoined disintegrated the bodies and weapons with lightning, as protocols dictated.

"Stealth Generators, all of you..." Ted ordered.

The survivors all turned on their Defel Mimickers, and the Conjoined cloaked both herself and Ted with the Force as they triple timed it down the streets following Amanda as she moved between wreckage.

It took about fifteen minutes at the speed they moved, but eventually, They reached a large section of streets. Basilisks moved down the street towards the Generator Complex, intent on defeating the EE reinforcements.

Amanda pulled out her comlink, and sent a burst transmission. It would not have penetrated the ground at a farther distance.

(Colossus of Rhodes Theme Plays)

There was a rumble...a quaking, as the Droid, hidden in a reflec coated chamber stirred...

The Fortress Nuetralizer let loose with it's fists, punching through the street, then letting loose with it's rail Cannons, blasting apart a Basilisk a Mandalorian rode at point blank range as it climbed out.

Ted stared in awe at the awful giant rumbled forth, shaking the rubble off. It had originally been built to fight Bryn'adul Fortifications and their bioweapons, but the conflict had ended before it could be deployed.

But it was finally finding a use here, and now.

The Fortress Nuetralizer was about as smart as a well trained military dog. And that military dog had been set to kill.

"Yeah, I can see why you wanted that as a last minute surprise." Ted admitted.

"I can already feel the death it's inflicting..." The Conjoined said with a smile.

The Fortress Nuetralizer blasted apart another two Basilisks, even as it came under full fire from tanks and rockets, striking down it's attackers with Disruptor cannons before it turned to them.

It used one of its clawed hands to make something akin to a Thumbs Up and Amanda went to full Anime like squeals of joy, jumping up and down childishly.

"It's so cute! Isn't it cute, everyone?" Amanda asked.

"Make it kill some more. Can it do tricks?!" The Conjoined asked.

Ted, under his damaged helmet, had a look of pure WTAF at both statements. The Witches were totally insane as well as hot, and the Nuetralizers were not that far behind, if not in terms of aesthetics, than at least in insanity.

"Alright everyone! Cover the Big Fething Robot!" Ted said.

The team advanced behind it as it plodded forth slowly, annihilating Mandalorian personnel as it journeyed to the complex. Ted would single out Artillery Positions, and they would vanish in a deadly stream of sonic cannon fire. The tanks or basilisks got rail guns. Tons of fire began to be poured on it and Ted sniped at targets of opportunity while the robot blared a friendly EE transponder to all EE Military, taking great care not to destroy any EE assets that may or may not have been nearby as it lumbered forward, part of its upper chest Armor damaged, as it used its cannons and rockets to delete multiple Mandalorians, Ted and the rest of his team not slouching as they opened fire on any who tried to get a rocket off at it, The Conjoined calling down more lightning strikes as the robot and they came under heavy fire as they advanced.

Meanwhile...

The witches in the complex were far from beaten as the Mandalorians searched for the generator.

The disrupting rune set by Runi Kuryida Runi Kuryida was attacked by Alessandra Io Alessandra Io and the witches then spring the second major magical trap, setting off the effects of an extremely deadly ritual that had been used by The Amalgam once to spring Kay Arenais from prison.

Small portals opened up, placed in key positions on walls, and out slipped magical constructs of the God the Cult worshipped, a sickly, emaciated nude Togrutan with no face, a complete blank where its features should be, skin a sickly purple, with long talons.

They were not particularly strong, and could be dispersed after a few shots from even a blaster Pistol. But they were fast and their talons had magical sharpness, and they were pouring out of these portals on the walls. The catsuit clad Witches closest to the generator attempted to resume the darkness inducing ritual, trying to greatly strengthening and reinforcing it's power if they succeeded so, while it could still be dispersed if it returned in full force, it would take more than a rune to do it, and far more effort...

Siren Corps members began to approach the positions of Thonn Rokkal Thonn Rokkal , bent on intercepting him. House Io Citizens had yet to break out the Radiation Grenade rounds, but they had sustained more losses, the bloodthirst and skill of their opponents proving immensely difficult to overcome unless they fought at their absolute hardest. But when they did, even the Mandalorians could be halted, and they were taking losses too, the Citizens having the home field advantage for ambush points, which contributed to Mandalorian losses, their terrible Radiation Blasters bolstering their offense.

In all this chaos, Lyssa, still disguised as a Mandalorian had her chest blasted open by the bolts of Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla , gobs of silvery Nanites blasting out of her back as she resumed her own form, sprinting towards him at superhuman speeds as she fired with her blaster at him and Domina Prime Domina Prime

To tell the truth, she did not expect this attack; she spent nearly three hundred years on the battlefield, but she could still learn new things. Like this current, insidious, vile method. Back home, in the Netherworld, not even demons used such methods. That's why it caught her off guard and didn't have a chance to dodge it. The grappling hook wrapped around her arm. Eina heard the man's words, though she didn't have a chance to answer. The Valkyrja stopped her own attack and tried to fly backwards so that the man could not pull her to the ground, but it was too late.

Her physical strength was no more than that of an average man, her wings could withstand her and she could fly with them, her armour was not too heavy, and it all lay in the perfection of her shape-shifting ability rather than in too much physical strength. Eina, if she wanted to, had essentially no weight. So no, Tyr didn't even have to make much use of the fact of her flying, because a simple strong pull would have been enough to drag Valkyrja to the ground. However, physics was on the side of the man today. Moments later, Eina crashed into the ground and snow. During the fall or impact, her wings instinctively became immaterial for a few moments so that the woman suffered less injury.

But even so, she fell with great force, true into the snow, but the armour did not have damping systems to protect it; thus, Eina suffered several severe bruises. The swords fell out of her hand and slid a few metres away on the slippery ground, the Valkyrja tried to take the string off her hand, but Tyr had reached her by now.

"There are constantly ongoing battles in the Netherworld as well. Why do you think the Sith necromancers can summon so many demons into this world?" she asked bitterly.

She knelt in the snow, her hair, her armour, and her wings filled with snow that fell on her when she hit the ground. Eina did not try to dust them, just looked up at the man and the weapon Tyr had raised at her. There were flames of concern in her eyes for a moment; but she wasn't worried about herself, she wasn't really interested in her own destiny. She felt this for someone else, for the other half of her soul, for her loved one, for her crusader. Eina feared and worried that if the Mandalorians would kill her now, would Geiseric survive her death or not. She wasn't sure due to the Force-dyad…

"The death of Valkyrja is final. The members of my people became Valkyrja after their death, they were once all living people. To be a Valkyrja, is their second chance, after their former life." she said.

She didn't say this for the man to change his decision, all she wanted was for her opponent to know that. Eina was born differently, she had no previous life. So she didn't know if she would have a second chance to be a Valkyrja again before she died permanently or not. However, one of the injured prevented the man from killing her. Eina looked at the injured in surprise. When Mandalorian finally reached for her, the woman accepted his hand and let Tyr help her. She nodded at the words.

"I know this, but I spend most of my time in this world among Crusaders who accept that death is not the end. It's just the beginning of a new thing. Because it is so. Over there, in my world, one who does not become one with the Force can be with those who are important to them for eternity." she explained. "Do you allow me to ease the weight of your soul? To find reassurance about what I did to your brother?" she asked.

As Mandos headed to the Power Plant complex, they were being watched from the shadows, Tovald took to the ruins for safety and to capitulate advantages to be able to observe what is going on, without being discovered. That and he refused to get even wetter than he is now.

He knows what is going on now that he had been able to eavesdrop from his advantage point. They are after the power supply. Which will cause the lights to go out, the sun is low in the sky now and very soon the light will fade, and the flood puddles, lakes or rivers will be hard to spot. Then again, the loose powerlines make the terrain dangerous in of itself.

Tovald looked for an opening to get away from his current location to the plant without being seen or shot. Technically, he wasn't wearing armour and that could end badly if he got used as target practice. He could end up not being found until hours later if he got shot at.

So, the solution is simple, don't get hurt. The sounds of gunfire pushed him back around a ruined wall. So much for that plan, so he and a Mandalorian traded blaster fire, then he decided to end it in a way he tried to avoid but wasn't above implementing. Tovald ended it with a well-aimed disruptor shot between the armoured warriors plating. He never enjoyed ending a fight this way, but he knew he had to, otherwise, he would be the one dead in the streets of this very city.

With that said he kept going towards where the fighting is.

Whomever it was in history that said ‘war was hell’, clearly was a master at understatement. From the mass confusion which erupted from the Eternal Empire’s forces breaching the wall on the Mandalorian-right flank, to the firepower being exacted upon the Mandalorian defenders on the wall. At first, it appeared that Imperial forces had the upper hand in the assault, but one had to hand it to the preparedness of the Mandalorian invaders. First came the assault from above, with a hail of blaster fire and missiles raining down upon the position of the force assaulting from the flank. The missile launched at the main battle tank impacted against the side panel, but outside of light damage the tank remained unaffected - designed to shoulder far more damage than one missile. The smaller grade missiles launched impacted around it, affecting more of the ghost troopers around it rather than the tank itself. The accuracy of the remainder of their attacks would be impeded by the suppressive fire applied to them a few moments after revealing their position, with one of the well trained Ghost Ultranaut squads supporting the flank laying down highly accurate fire upon their position. They would either duck down for cover, eliminating half of their planned attacks, or die from the hail of blaster fire in the process.

A few moments after said volleys of suppressing fire, Morgan’s assault upon the tank’s position began in earnest. Given their redirected attention to the threat above, most of the ultranauts fell to his assault as he drew closer to the tank, and eventually overpowered the crew within. But as he was busy doing so, he would not notice the squad behind the tank falling back from their position within the compound - falling in alongside another squad who positioned itself behind a fallen column. They covered the two remaining Lykos vehicles as they too sped out of the compound, taking positions on either side as they narrowly avoided further missile fire meant to otherwise smash them into burning husks. The reason for this tactical retreat would be lost upon the defenders until it was too late.

Erstwhile, the reason for this withdrawal was coming to fruition.

”Command fires, Spartan Actual.”

”Spartan 1 Romeo, Command Fires, ready to copy, authenticate fire mission." The operator responded. The squad on the ground continued:

”Authorization 1 Fox Romeo 7 Niner Papa Tango. Requesting fires. 3 rounds Victor Tango, 2 rounds Whiskey Papa.”

”Roger Spartan Actual, read back 3 rounds Victor Tango, 2 rounds Whiskey Tango, send grid coords.”

”Grid-”

A pause ensued as the transmission was interrupted abruptly, causing the operator to respond almost instantly: ”Spartan Romeo we need grid coords, copy?”

After a few moments, the pause was broken by another voice, who continued where the previous had left off: ”Command fires, Spartan 1 Romeo, Spartan Actual down. Grid is Uniform Papa Victor...GRID IS TWO SEVEN FIFE ET SEVEN (27587) BY ONE NINER TWO SEVEN FIFE (19275)! FIRE FOR EFFECT!"

”Roger Spartan Romeo, Grid as follows Uniform Papa Victor, 27587 - 19275, prepare for shot. Shot. Time to target is 2 minutes max.”

By the time the orders had been given, coordinates called out, and successful response had been granted, two minutes had come and gone at about the same time as the Lykos tanks pulled out of the complex and the main battle tank was in the process of being overrun. The first of the ‘3 round’ fire request landed impacted behind the main gate where the bulk of the Mandalorian force had established itself so as to cover itself from the forward assault - air-burst variable time rounds impacting in a 100-meter square, capable of all but decimating whatever soft targets were unlucky enough to remain in the area. After each shot, the operator spoke into the comm with a simple ”Shot” acknowledgement, meant to warn the person on the other end of the incoming artillery fire, as well as to hopefully receive a successful impact of the ordnance.

Nought but a few moments after the VT round impacts, the White Phosphorous rounds impacted - spreading unquenchable flames for the entirety of the 100 meter square area within the courtyard. While the flames would do little to harm the tank and those who made it within, it would do much to harm those outside of the tank. The following shot from the captured tank ripped through one of the two Lykos IFV’s which retreated from the complex, with the other careening away before getting fully destroyed. As if this maneuver wasn’t bad enough for the regiment, the Basilisk wardroid assault capped it off. The initial attack run from the wardroids was devastating, resulting in the casualties of nearly a dozen more ultranauts from their strafing run and dealing damage to the armor plating of the main battle tanks. After their initial pass, the company commander quickly set about calling in for support - any support that could be had. It was around that time that the massive rumblings of the Fortress Neutralizer could be heard around them. The hulking monstrosities’ presence could not prevent one of the Main Battle Tanks from being decimated from continued bombardment, but thankfully the remainder of the tank line held up when additional anti-air support made its presence known.

Several Firespray Warhead Launchers were positioned throughout the city for aerial and capital ship defense. Up until now, they had busied themselves with tracking fighter formations and peppering the skies with flak shells. When the frantic call came in from the tank commander though, a pair of said cannons redirected their attention to the complex. Sure enough, the forms of the Basilisk wardroids could be seen, strafing the unfortunate ground force’s position. Within moments, the massive cannons of the Firespray batteries belched their ordnance, The first of the pair launched rippling fire of flak shells to the area, peppering the airspace with black clouds of explosive material and fragmentation. It was unlikely this alone would bring down the war droids, but the second Firespray lashed out with APCR rounds, its tracking computer encountering mild disruption from the droid’s anti-tracking suite. So, it compensated by chaining its computer with its ‘partner’, and hurled its rounds in the general vicinity of the flak rounds, turning the airspace the Basilisks were operating within into a maelstrom of death and mayhem. The choice would be simple - stay and die under the combined might of the Fortress Neutralizer and Firespray cannons while trying to kill off the remainder of the Imperial strike force, or leave to fight another day.

The flak rounds would likely do much to damage and potentially hinder the shielding of the droids, and the APCR rounds were designed to punch through capital-grade armor paneling - and would therefore make short work of the droids upon impact. Even still, that did not stop the soldiers wielding small arms from firing upon the droids, despite their rounds pinging harmlessly off of their tough outer carapice. One such droid wheeled through the mayhem to the rear of the formation, aiming for the tank commander’s personal craft. ”Traverse! Traverse!”

The main turret of the tank rotated to keep up with the flanking maneuver of the Basilisk, its gun finally rotating in time to fall in line with the droid as it dove to land upon the tank’s frame and do its nefarious deed. Before it could though, as its shields lowered to drill into the casing of the tank, the commander uttered one word: ”FIRE!” Without hesitation, the main gun of the tank fired as closely to ‘point blank’ as a tank could be, sending an armor-piercing round barrelling toward the now unshielded frame of the droid in what would almost certainly amount to a killshot.

As this all unfolded, the discipline of the Ghost Ultranauts within the 1st Sondheim was on full display. Despite the casualties mounting from them all, none of them wavered. None of them fled, save to fall back to a strategic position at the orders of their superiors. They fought on with the same grim resolve they had always been known for. They would not falter now.

The purpose of the counter attack from the Mandalorians was clear - they meant to push the Ultranauts back from the complex and box them in to be slaughtered by the Basilisks. With the fire support now commencing, the forces of the Eternal Empire would not allow themselves to play the same game the Mandalorians wanted them to.

The remaining two tanks in the tank column did not remain stationary during this whole time, so they would not have been readily visible or targettable from the follow up strafing runs of the Basilisks. They quickly took advantage of smaller sidestreets, narrowly avoiding the carnage being brought upon them, and surged forth from the opposing end of the area with a support force of 24 ultranauts. They quickly emerged from the side, rolling up to the flank of the commandeered tank of Morgan, the pair of them both opening fire with their main guns upon the tank whilst it was focused on fighting off the beleaguered forces in front of it. Meanwhile, a heavy weapons’ team set itself up at a perch between the right and center flanks, setting up a heavy repeater on a tripod and a pair of mortars of their own.

They soon lashed out with their heavy repeater against what forces remained on the wall, intent on suppressing them and keeping their heads down while the mortar emplacements quickly launched additional ordnance in a withering pattern, meant to catch off guard those who may have survived the previous artillery bombardment. As they did so, the forward attack force advanced under the cover of the three tanks remaining in the front, which soon was reduced to 2 as one of the basilisks grasped the third and made off with it like a hawk with a field mouse; the other two being spared thanks to the disruption of the flak and high millimeter AA bombardment by the firespray cannons. In fact, the tanks rolled forward, charging forward to batter down the main gate with their hulk whilst the columns of soldiers engaged in a fighting advance, using craters and debris at regular intervals to maintain cover. The tanks did not clear the distance quite yet, but it was only a matter of time before they steamrolled through the main gate. Seconds, even.

Baron Ström’s expression grew grim as he read reports from the assault on the power generator. His displeasure was plain to see, in fact. Not only had the complex been overrun, but his assault force had sustained considerable losses while attempting to take it. He technically had additional men to send so as to retake the structure, but those men would be needed elsewhere. He couldn’t commit his entire force to one objective. He would have to trust in the men he had sent, and if he had to; possibly a second force. But the situation was getting worse elsewhere. Separatists were massing at a purported temple of the Epicanthix deeper into the city, and reports were coming in of Sith activity as well.

He had been able to scrounge together his men from the chaos, and they had begun establishing a cordon around the city center - setting up traps and ambush positions in the narrow approaches as they did so. And the Coalition fleet was still there, visible in the far distance as they had established a blockade over the city - undoubtedly positioning themselves for orbital bombardment once the shield generators at the power complex fell. To say that he was in a foul mood would have truly been an understatement.

”Sir, we have additional elements of the 82nd armor ready to move in with the remainder of 1st Korps. Shall I make them ready?”

”No.” He stated flatly.

”Those men are too valuable to throw away again. Mix in some of the garrison forces, and order the second strike force to hold position at Khendov Square. Even if they move out, I want a large enough concentration to hold that junction. Without it, we can’t reinforce any other positions.”

”Yes si--” The Adjutant’s response was cut short by the door of Baron Ström’s office being burst open. A young man in a Lieutenant’s uniform stood in the door, blood staining his outer coat, and a crazed look in his eye. The Baron had seen that look before, even if his assistant had not.

”What is the meaning of this Lieutenant?!” The Colonel demanded. The only response he’d receive however, was gunfire. The Lieutenant targeted the Baron, and loosed a trio of shots at the nobleman. Ström reached for his sidearm, but expected to feel the pang of his chest being burst apart due to his assailant having the drop on him. But he felt nothing. Instead, his adjutant hurled himself into harm’s way, his chest thrown open from the trio of shots meant for Ström.

Despite the shock of what had just happened. Reinhardt wasted little time as he cleared his holster and leveled his pistol, firing a single shot into the head of the would-be assassin. Hitting dead center, the traitor hit the ground, a pool of his own blood shrouding his head like a grotesque halo of a blood-born angel. Two guards immediately streamed into the room, but soon leveled their weapons at the sight before them. ”Sir! Our deepest apologies! This man went rogue and--”

”Get me a medic.”

Ström dropped to his knees and pulled off his jacket, applying pressure to the wound of his aide who lay writhing on the floor. As the men left to find a medic though, Reinhardt knew it was pointless. The request was made out of habit, out of years spent on battlefields. Life drifted from Lt. Colonel Reisch’s eyes, and his head sank to the side.

He was dead.

The medic arrived twenty seconds too late, the only benefit of his presence being to declare a time of death. Ström’s grim demeanor returned in earnest, with the Field Marshal turning to the two guards again as he demanded a report. The previous one who had spoken spoke up again: ”The best we can tell at this stage sir, was the assassin was an imposter of Epicanthix descent. We found the body of Lieutenant Akaen in a custodian closet.”

The Baron nodded coolly. ”Send for Major Teich. Lock down this wing of the building.”

The two soldiers saluted their Field Marshal smartly, and left to comply with his orders. Meanwhile, the Baron returned to his table, mulling over the developments of the city - his city - to defend.
