The KC-7A279 is a weapon system of typical Imperial design, emphasizing efficiency and versatility. Developed by the military-industrial conglomerate Karavin Concern, it is a true multirole offensive and defensive platform designed to perform a wide variety of functions and give ships the ability to engage a wide variety of different types of targets. A rarity in the modern battlespace, the Firespray fires solid slugs instead of turbolaser bolts, however despite the inherent drawbacks of a slugthrower over a directed energy weapon, such as limited ammunition capacity and inferior stopping power, it does come with its own set of unique advantages, which have led its manufacturers to adopt this operating mechanism, rather than something more modern.

Because of its design as a slugthrower, the Firespray is capable of firing multiple types of ammunition, which can be switched between on the fly, the platform featuring a highly complex and sophisticated feed system for this reason. Despite the inherent vulnerability of such a complicated mechanical system, which can easily be damaged and rendered inoperable, its main advantages are deemed sufficient to overcome its drawbacks.

Capable of firing multiple types of ammunition, the KC-7A279 can perform a wide variety of functions during battle, from anti-air coverage utilizing fragmentation shells, to shield penetration with the use of EMP-discharging warheads, as well as more conventional use as a weapon for ship-to-ship combat, utilizing high explosive munitions, or any other payloads which conform to the 120mm form factor used by the platform.

Its magazine can hold up to four hundred rounds, stored in an internal magazine recessed into the ship's hull, in racks that can be accessed by the ship's crew in order to replenish ammunition. This system of multiple racks, along with the complex feed mechanism, is what allows the weapon to switch between warhead types during combat, giving the system its versatility. Due to its flexibility, the Firespray is being adopted into service by the Eternal Navy, for use on multiple classes of ships.
